Don't wanna go through the hassle... - HTC EVO 3D

But looks like I'll have to. Every headphone I put into my phone will break up if the wire I guess is a certain way. Even brand new fresh out the box. If I barely touch the base of the headphone socket, the phone shortage sounds stop. Will I have to hand it into asurion?

Thanks. Do you think since I have insurance/warranty that if a Sprint Store had the 3D that they will just swap it out? I really don't wanna go through the hassle of shipping it out my phone is falling apart. Randomly going to silent mode, unresponsive touch screen and messed up headphone jack. =(
Anyone have the latest guide to unroot and return to stock?

Broken up volume rocker. Opinions

So my up volume rocker on my thunderbolt wont register a press. I spoke to tech support who said they would send me a new one, I just need to bring it to a store to show them I didn't drop it. only problem is I cant flash back to stock. Do you think they will visually inspect the phone or plug it in? Am I better off just paying the insurance deductible?

maybe if u can flash back a stock root rom they may not notice i also had to get my tb replaced bc the volume down button would not work and at verizon all they gonna do is turn it on and off and try a battery pull and try and press the volume button to make sure its a manufacture defect and make sure u bring ur tb box and sims card for faster replacement
i also droped my phone and put a small chip in it and it was no way related to the volume button so they could not say any thing
To unroot, just put the signed .ruu onto your SD card and boot into hboot via rom manager. It will install automatically and you will be unrooted, s-on and stock.

I've seen a couple of posts like this bit I got to ask, how do you break your volume or power button in the first place? And if you did just return it.

Well I booted into the bootloader a million times and slammed the up arrow with a pen until it worked lol. So I'm back to stock. And when I went to Verizon they didn't even really look at the phone, they just said they would ship me a new one. Also, to answer a question, the rocker just stopped registering while I was at work one day.

My guess is the warranty department will be looking at all returns much, much closer now looking for a rooted phone so they can void warranties. Its good you were able to flash the stock RUU, for others who don't I bet you might find a $600 charge on your next Verizon bill. I do believe you could have used adb to push the stock RUU as well.

Need to know

Hi, im haveing my EVO View repaired by HTC and i need to know how to un-revolutionary, because i dont have usb connectivity (The charging port is not working)
Could somone help me? I need to get back to S-ON
Just hope they don't charge. I asked the same thing before I shipped it out. Luckily they just emailed me today saying it's fixed and said they are going to ship back. How did you damage the port?
I mistakenly tried to put the wrong side of the charger plug in.
Very sensitive the port is

That won't over write the hboot. You need to be able to push the hboot with adb from recovery. Really not sure if there is a way to do it without a USB connection. Maybe in a terminal emulatorwhile booted although I am not sure if trying to push an hboot while fully booted

So, does anyone know if they can even tell? at this point the device wont power on, but they would have to repair it and charge it up to even know its rooted, right?

Correct. And the only way to do this would be to somehow dd a stock HBOOT (I could provide one) over the revolutionary one, and reflash the stock ROM. It would go like this, but since your device isn't powered it's kinda useless:
1. Install the stock RUU on your device (extract the rom.zip from it, google extract rom.zip extract RUU) rename the rom.zip PG41IMG and place on sdcard >>> reboot into hboot.
2. After 2 complete passes, reboot into the system with the hboot of the RUU on the sd. DD it using Terminal Emulator (a command like this, don't actually run it: dd if=/hboot.nb0 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18)
3. Reboot into fast boot to confirm the stock restore.
4. ???
5. Profit
Now obviously the device will require power here and when I used this method I had to stop midway to charge, so even 40% battery isn't an option.
EDIT: If you can get some battery, just do HTC Unlock. Although it's a warranty void, I think HTC would provide support rather to the guy who used their tools instead of a third party one.
My 2 cents, but their 1950 special edition ones so don't lose em!
Oh yeah I just realized you could take your sdcard out and put it into the computer to put files on it, if you can even get it charged though :/

Okay. So your saying that since it can't boot I'm fine, the would HAVE to fix it because it disent have enough charge?
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
I had the same problem back in December. My advice is to turn off your device and conserve as much battery power as you can until you figure out what to do, because once you run out, you're stuck. Unfortunately for me, I found out my port was broken when I plugged it in when I ran out of batteries. I sent it to HTC though, and within a couple weeks I had it back, with HC on it. If you do send it in, make sure to back everything up because they flashed mine.

Well if HTC fixes the port and charges it up and finds revolutionary, I doubt they would refuse to send it back. They've fixed it already.
there have been a couple of people who managed to charge their flyer by taking off the back plate and charging the battery directly. This would only fix a portion of your problem. In the end if you do not have usb connectivity I am not sure you can replace the Hboot. If the port is broken it really has nothing to do with being S Off. I can not see why it would impact the repairs, although I think you stand a decent chance of recieving an invoice.

[Q] I have a situation

My Amaze 4g is rooted and rom'd etc.
A couple days ago the screen died. Like, it did something kinda of weird (flashed some grayish type colors) and then turned off. The phone still works etc but the screen is dead.
So, I can get a replacement phone but it is rooted and sending it back is too risky.
Is there anyway that I can restore my phone without having to see the screen?
Or, has anyone heard of this happening etc?
Thanks
You'll have to boot into fastboot and relock the bootloader. It might be a bit difficult to do so without actually being able to see what the screen should be showing, but overall it's a two step process: relock bootloader, load and flash stock RUU
So can you walk me through it? Lol, since I can't see the screen? Like, can you just direct me on what buttons to push.
do you have it insured? Maybe you might lose it tonight?
What i suggest is watch a youtube video on how to relock it and hwo to flash stock RUU adn get the timing.

You might as well just send it back because even if u figure out a way to relock it, it will say "relocked" therefore either way they will kno u unlocked it. But that shouldnt matter because the screen going dead is most likely a hardware issue which if it is it should still be covered by the warranty whether u unlocked it or not

No it only says it "may" void ur warranty.. so as long as the problem wasnt caused by you changing the software, like flashing roms and soforth, then they should still honor the warranty. And to me it sounds like a hardware issue so u should be fine.

Are you sure it's not just the backlight that's out? If it is, you can just grab a really bright flashlight and shine it at an angle, and you might, possibly, be able to see your screen. It will be faint but it might be enough to help you relock it.
Just crack the screen, tmo will charge you 50 bucks extra if the screen is cracked. At least this is what they told me when I had to get a replacement for my wife's phone.

S-Off Help

Hello. Was preforming the S-Off and can't get the wire trick right. I am stuck on the Juopuntbear screen. How can I exit the program. I want to just try it again later. I am on an HTC Sensation I figure the procedure is the same for the Rezound. I have done this on my Rezound but need some help anyone?
I had that same problem, but I never did figure out how to abort, so I kept trying and got it to s-off, then it booted normally again and rebooted into the Rom.
When I had the problem I powered down, didn't work so...
I want to say the answer might be use adb fastboot bootloader and just reboot, just a newbie idea.

Make sure the wire you're using is actual wire. I know people have said that paperclips work fine... but I couldn't get it to work with one for the life of me (tried for about 30 min to get it to work). Gave up on the paperclip, unhooked one of my 25ft speaker wires, and it worked the first time.
I used coax cable and speaker wire, just the copper from the coax, but some romex (home electrical wiring) would do the job as well, basically the same principal.

As long as its easily conductive it should work . All those wires you mentioned are all copper, so they're all pretty much the same and usable.
Since the splash screen is a vulnerable state, use the all in one root tool to reinstall recovery, ( Juopuntbear deletes it i believe) then use the tool to reboot to bootloader from here you should be able to start over. Factory reset/reflash a rom. You should be good to go from there...
EDIT: I just realized you are on a different phone, idk if there is an all in one root tool for your phone but this is what i did for my rezound the first time i attempted s-off and ran out of time.
Yea they may all be copper, but of a different gauge and therefore different ease of touching contact #1.
As for one click s-off I don't think there is one out yet.

Well obviously physical size of the wire is an issue lol. I was talking more about the actual material though, rather than the gauge of the wire.

you can actually plug in a mouse into your phone, from what i understand. if you have the right adaptor. But it doesnt matter too much anyways, take your phone in and the sprint team can fix it for you, they will most likely flash the RUU if you are honest with them, or give you a new phone. I have never had problems with my store so far, if a phone is physicaly broken, as in the battery wont charge, the buttons dont work, the screen is broke, they give me a new phone or new battery, what ever is needed. and they tell me
your phone is rooted, so we couldnt run our normal diagnostics on it, but if you have any other problems let us know.
that is the BIGGEST reason i stay with sprint. kick ass customer support.
