Guys i have had no issues with video recording on my galaxy s2, my att note, or even my captivate, but today when i was trying to record a short video of my daughter dancing around the house the video was getting very choppy. Is this a known issue and if so is there a fix for it. I've read through the forums for a bit but didn't see anything pertaining to my issue directly. Sorry if there is a thread on this issue already.
OK your sig says you have a note on at&t so I need to ask if your galaxy SIII is the north American model or the international model.
Edit: nvm I just saw that you edited it and it is in fact the international model.
I never experienced choppy video recording personally, do you have custom rom/kernel?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Sorry i just updated my signature. International Gti 9300
Oh and i'm running the criskelo rom with siyah kernel oc'd to 1600mhz.
Have you tried a different rom?
I used wanamlite with siyah and with Franco and never had any problems with video.
Using CM9 now with siyah and no problems here either.
I'm oc'd to 1600mhz also.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I dont think i ever tried using the video camera when i was stock, stock rooted, or even stock rooted just running the siyah kernel. Never noticed this. Only reason i put a rom on it is because i cant leave well enough alone. Modding. Is definitely addictive for sure.
Hmmm. I'll look into those. I really didn't plan on getting to big into romming this one because the stock ics with siyah was pretty nice. But now since i've started i guess i cant look back now. Lolol
Btw: i was trying to download the ics4.04 zip for my note while i was recording. Trying to sell it and i'll get more money for it with the update. Do you think that could have caused this? Just wondering.
That's why we're called crackflashers!
Give another rom a go and see how it works out for you, if it doesn't work then we'll go from there.

I have tested this I went from bionox to darky 9.3 and avatar stopped working.... Other wise i absolutely love the rom... I have tried clear the dfn cach and booting twice but nothing. I cant post yet in the forum was hoping someone could assist me would love to keep the rom but I find this to be a major annoyance.
thanks for replys
Sorry i cant answer that...i dont use darkys,i tried it awhile back before it was made compatible but never looked back

Sorry - didnt see it before. Best guess is that Darky's ROM lists itself as a I9000 and not a T959 (Vibrant). Did the I9000 come with Avatar? IF it didn't, I bet the DRM blocks it from playing.
Thanks its the fact that it is a ported rom

I don't know if anyone else is experiencing the same but to me Jelly Bean on the S3 is terrible!
It's more like project stutter!
I am getting serious lag and if I use my phone for a couple of days without rebooting it's practically unusable.
Is the memory leak still present in JB?
I'm running stock XXDLJ4.
I went back to my S2 the other and was literally blown away!
I'm considering selling my S3 and going back to my S2 which for me is a lot nicer to use.
In my honest opinion Samsung made a huge stuff up only putting 1gb RAM in the S3, and they've admitted it by bringing out the i9305.
How the S3 is so popular I do not know.
Is anyone else experiencing serious performance and lag issues on JB?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
There already numerous post about this! All posts are answered by some who have the same problem , and many who dont. Do a factory reset & wipe. JB is much better for me.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I've done numerous factory resets and wipes and then it's all the same.

If a user does not read the existing threads then its the user not the phone .
jje
I've read plenty of threads mate.
I've wiped my phone, re flashed ROMS etc.
Still the same old story. Still slow, laggy and generally unusable.
I fail to see how me reading threads on XDA changes a ROM on my phone? It doesn't.
The ROM is still the same laggy, slow ROM it always was no matter how much reading I do.
So your comment really was pointless dude.

What ROM are you using?
I've tried various JB ROMs on my S3 (both TW-based and CM-based) and had no problems with lag or stutter.

Hi mate,
I'm using the stock XXDLJ4 JB ROM.
The lag really is terrible, it was bearable, just!! But last night it really slowed down.
For example I was just trying to open my SMS and waited about 3 seconds for that to open (which is normal for me) then clicked on an SMS thread (another 2 seconds) clicked reply and waited about another 4 seconds for the keyboard to open and then every letter I typed took 1-2 seconds to appear.
Only a reboot fixed it.
I have tried all sorts of things I can think of. Even formatted cache, dalvik, system, data and internal storage to start from scratch with a fresh, new downloaded ROM and the same thing.
I'm going to flash ICS tonight and see if it helps.
I've had the same issues after going to jelly bean and trying all kind of stuff.. my wife has the s2 skyrocket, some days other blows my i9300 away..
I haven't tried rolling back to ICS, I really dig the JB features.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I love the features of JB but not the performance.
It's weird that an S2 can out perform an S3 though, that really shouldn't happen and I can't figure out why it does.
Going back to my S2 was awesome! It flies.
I just find it odd that some people don't experience any lag and say JB on there device is perfect. Surely all S3s should be the same.......

never had a problems with jb.. usually a wipe would fix it. also possible that media scanner is using all your cpu power thus lagging phone.

I've decided that i've had enough of the problems/bugs with ICS and JB. The last time my phone worked great was when it was running GB. So what's the best one to get other than stock T-mobile?
Try them and see for yourself what works best for you.

With every ICS ROM I tried I had poor cell reception and awful battery life, even the stock T-Mobile one. JB is great but it doesnt work well for making phone calls and the lack of Flash is brutal. I've already searched for GB ROM's but it seems that the consensus is they're all bad and the good ones (Bulletproof, NRGY) arent available for download anymore.

I believe that one can use Flash on JB, it just has to be downloaded from the website (it is not available in the Play store).
My sister in law recently got an S3, and we had to go to the site to get flash.

Yeah I had to get an apk from the site for 4.0.4 ICS on my gs3 as well... Along with jb...
And I get the complaints about ICS on the amaze. I ran GB and ICS on my amaze and the cell reception and battery life are both significantly worse on ICS than GB. Same for jb compared to ICS on the S3. I liked sense 3.5 GB most on the amaze... But that was just my personal take

Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Lol no porn. I cant watch any Youtube videos unless its within the Youtube app which is incredibly buggy and doesnt work half the time. When I click play on an embedded Youtube video it goes straight to the end and will not play. Oddly enough other video sites will often work if they dont use Flash like Vimeo.
Maybe I need another coffee before modding. Normally we close "best ROM" threads before they cause fights. Maybe you could change the name to "where can I find a GB ROM?"
Thank you,

Well, It's funny as I wanted to post the same. I tied pretty much every ROM here, ICS and JB. The worst offenders for me was BT on JB, even cm10 is no go. The other issue is the signals for both ics and JB alike. One time is three bars and then no service. Even someone with same service provider can still make calls standing beside me but I couldn't. Then in low signal areas, my phone would burn a hole in my pocket and battery would be dead in couple hours.
GB is pretty consistent in signals and no heating issues. Bt works fine too, so I am back with trusty old no frills GB. At least it works......

After encountering even more bugs with the latest version of CM10 I finally broke down and installed QuickSense 3.0 which takes it all the way back to Android 2.3.4, but you know what? EVERYTHING works. The interface may not be a slick looking as ICS or JB but it really isnt much slower in comparison. For anyone else who is frustrated and just wants a working phone, try this ROM out.
I dont know if i'm allowed to post a link to it or not but you can find it easy enough by googling it.
I downloaded a bunch including the original ics rooted and deodexed by hasoon. But before going back stock tried speed Rom 1.4 and is been working fine. There is also Kumars 0.4 but haven't tried yet. I am good till we get a bug free cm.

Hi guys, I wanted to ask, if you guys are feeling the 4.2.2 leak more laggy than the usual 4.1.2...
I own a S4 now, and gave my dad my old S3 ( MC2 sotmax, with Jkay)... he was complaining the phone was very laggy (for a 65 years old person, complaining that it was laggy.... but when I came to see, it was terribly laggy)
So I tried the new 4.2.2 fw, but things just got worse.... went back to to Ultima rom, v13...
It got better, but still laggy...
I know, I can't compare with the S4, but I remember that when I used to own the S3, it wasn't like that... any hints guys?
Thanks

Hi pride,
I am currently on Leak 4.2.2 and no lags, I just have some slow downs sometimes, else no problems.
Try a full wipe before reinstalling a new ROM.

In what way is a slow down different to a lag?

Will anyonw be kind enough to point me out to what is considered the most stable rom.
Preferable nothing over 4.2.
I flash cm10.2 and it has a weird thing where the screen fails.
I have carbon 4.4.2 on my razr hd and it works flawless. But it seems that roms on thia device arent doing so well.
If anybody ia able to help me i would apreciatte it a bunch.

Some moderators have been shutting these kinds of threads down do to the fact that you are asking for someone to rate ones work over another, but I will chime in before that happens.
I am not going to rate one over the other though, as all phones run differently as you are finding out.
2 roms that MY phone had no problem running......Padawan and Black Jelly.
These 2 are close to stock with bloatware removed. Remember this is your dads phone. There are plenty of other roms I like, but require more maintainence. How often are you going to want to fiddle with dads phone.
Not much has been happening on these threads. You will not see many recent issues. That is how stable they are. I will recommend you read and in Padawan, I will refer you back to p. 355 to about p. 380. This was just after update and many issues were solved at that time. My phone never ran better.
If you get lag, read again, you werent paying attention.
Good luck.

If you follow development rom threads you can answer your own question. That is what is expected of people to do rather than create threads like this. That being said I don't really know what you are hearing about 4.4.2 roms but my wife has been running a 4.4.2 rom for well over a week without any reboot. After installing uber,a screen jitter patch, and the camera patch everything seems to work fine. Granted she really doesn't use bluetooth much but when she does it seems to work and there is an echo when using speaker phone on the other end. So really only reason not to go to 4.4.2 would be the speaker phone issue which I believe is present on any rom above 4.2. There is no way I could live on 4.1 or below personally.
Anyway to answer your question read the threads in the development section of this forum and educate yourself. Maybe even go as far as to flash a few roms and try them out and decide which rom is right for you.
Battery on Kit Kat seems to have a bit of a shorter life span also.
What you were stating Butcher, may be the reasons he is asking for stable. Patch here, kernal there, 4.4 has been very stable. But he is putting it on dads phone. If I were flashing dads phone, I would want something I am not having to tweak so much, especially if dad cant tweak himself.
Would you want to change the brakes on dads car every other day. Some roms are like a medication. The phone seems to build up tolerances, then need to make an adjustment.
But yes, read.

Yes thank you.
I would usually just flash away any rom ghat sounds promising to me. And yes i would tweak as much needed to be exactly how i wanted. From overclocking to to voltages, to removing navbar to what ever is needed.
But like you said this is for my father and i would want to have it be the most stable ao he wont have to deal with reeboots and and weird screen fails.
And i have been reading and uber has been mentioner a lot. Some say good some say its bad.
Kinda have been seeing a mixed opinion about it. Thats why i have been asking for what somebody consideres a stable rom.
Also i dont have the opportunity to mess with his phone when ever i want.
He is on gingerbread and god is that slow.
Thank you both i will see the roms that were mentioned here, and read for others.

If you went to the Samsung website, you can get an official upgrade there or even calling the carrier and have the upgrade it. JB is the official upgrade. If something goes wrong there, then at least they are resposible if something goes wrong.
