I bought my first android phone ( sgs II with 4.0.4 on it ) , and I can't find an answer to my problem anywhere ...
I can't ROOT it .
Kies only sees my phone in normal mode , does not see it in download mode . Odin3 does not turn yellow in download mode , it is just blue ( but it gives me the " <ID:0/008> Added!! message " .
I tried reinstalling and updating Kies , I manually installed the USB drivers ... i tried this on 2 computers , on all the ports .. it does not work

Kies will never find your phone in download mode, its not designed for it. That is what Odin is for. Also make sure you are not running Kies(and all of its processes) while running Odin. They don't like eachother.
Also turn on Debugging before you go to download mode.

Hi GUYS.! i Had updated my Galaxy s2 To 4.0.4 ( XXLQ5 ) and my cell fone was SOFT BRICKED.! anythin i download was crashin.. last nite me and my Big Bro ( thealtaf ) were tryin to fix this problem and finally a Big Thanks to my Big Bro he just fixed it by Flashin ( i9100XXKKI3) stock firmware.. We've Flashed PIT,PDA,CSC And Phone.. Everythin was gud n nw i am runnin 2.3.5 Gingerbread.. i am gonna update it to 4.0.4 later after confirmin it.. whatever you gonna Flash please Dont Flash ( XXLQ5 ).. .!! i Made a Mistake and luckily i pull out myself from it.!!

Hello ,
I have a problem with upgrading my SGA to an official firmware via Samsung Kies
when I start upgrading its OK , But after a few minutes , the Downloading come and it keeps downloading and nothin happen after this , it keeps downloading and I waited for more than 30 minutes and it keeps downloading
I tried three times , 2 times yesterday and now and I need to remove the battery and turn on the device to work again
is there a problem with my device ??
NOTE:
My device has android 2.2.1 ROOTED
so do I need to Unroot and try again ??
Afaik u dont need to unroot to update via kies. Please someone correct me if im wrong.
Thing is, kies already knowned as troublesome and laggy software/tools. If u know what update u will get via kies, just search for that particular update/rom on samfirmware and use odin to flash ur device. If i remember correctly, there are user that bricked their ace when upgrading via kies. For backup purpose, kies can do just fine, but for upgrade, i wouldnt even think of using kies because already got trustworthy odin by my side

Lesson learnt: Don't ever use Kies XD
Download ODIN 4.38 and the 2.3.3 ROM from samfirmware.com .
Flash the 2.3.3 with ODIN when your phone is in Download Mode .
When it successfully flashes , it's DONE !
Thanks for everyone , I won't use Kies after this day , I will update it now via ODIN
odin failed when updating ( it suddenly shows fail )
which gave me a hard brick afterwards ! ( I cant make the combo , cant get into recovery menu )
Im wondering if i buy a usb Jig , can it actually works ?
cause I saw that many people is having issues with USB JIG and claims that it dosen't work
for I1900G

providing half cooked info will lead u knowhere, post in detail which rom/kernel u tried to flash thro Odin, was the same really meant for I9100g or was it related to Some other model of s2 etc.

well, i risk my friends phone to try and root, i installed the wrong the all-in-one zip which will root and replace recovery with CMW .
It made me a soft bricked , cannot be boot or stuck at boot logo. and the recovery wont work. i tried the solution made by others that using odin3 executive v1.0.0. i went into download mode and start the button on odin3. on the half way. the message stops. i've force to unplug it and see weather it works . but then nothing happen. i can't even boot up the phone .
anyway , when i tried to connect it to the pc . the driver logo popup but installation of driver failed .
I wonder if USB JIG could help me go into download mode again .

If you can manage getting USB jig try it... And if you cant i better recommend you jtag...

Have you tried the latest version of ODIN v3? 1.87 I think.
I have odin 3.07 , i have tried with odin multidownloader too , there i upload and an ops file but it always brick my phone
Here are two of the latest versions. I just got my Galaxy Tab 2 two days ago so I'm still new at all the ODIN stuff.
I downloaded one of them , now i should upload pit and pda right ?
Can happen something with my phone , mabye brick or something else ?

Should be no difference other than version differences in the ODIN apps themselves. ODIN is ODIN.
Can it brick my.phone , or if the process will not finish , can i reflash it again ...

Anytime you flash something to a device you chance bricking it. For your device I cannot say for sure. Both versions of ODIN I posted came from Samsung Galaxy threads.

if you use rom for your device with usb debugging on then chances of bricking is very less. also .pit file is for repartition so dont add it. hit thanks if i helped.

What has usb debugging to do with bricking devices?USB debugging is active only when all services are up and running.Untill then its bootloader and kernel!
Also,.pit file contains only partition Information Table.So you can use it like you want.And I have always been flashing with pit file and not even once failed.Although you could use it only when flashing a whole rom!Not when flashing just kernel/modem etc...
To OP: Look if you have kies running at behind.It hinders the update process and kies too listen to download mode as it is the method kies uses to update.Does S plus uses some kind of lag fix in custom roms?Heard of those in sgs days.Dont know what fs S plus uses.

Hi there! I sit now beaten four hours (or more :crying on a S3 from a friend because he only had the problem that his S3 is not started ( Freeze the Samsung logo). He was eager that I should remove it its unwanted root access. After research I managed the S3 HALF WAY up and running or that the phone started normally. Luckily CWM was installed on the device...
Well , later I have downloaded an original 4.3 Unbranded FW and flashed using Odion . ( Drivers and other stuff was already on it ) So far so good . There were no error messages or anything , but later it failed again at the Samsung screen. Desperately I still have a 4.2.2 FW (?) tries to flash as would go at first, but after about 5 minutes Odion did not load and I thought (?) : ' Hmm, nothing is happening so I just pull the USB cable '
Well, it looks like I repend this now, but do it right !
Now I get when I start the phone this error message:
' firmware upgrade Encountered an issue . please select recovery mode in kies & try again s3 '
Kies doesn't recognizes the S3 , so that falls ever completely gone and when I try to flash another FW ( Odion ) I get these error messages regardless of whether it is one part FW or three part FW...
(YES , Kies is getting away with Task Manager )

Try flashing the latest rom for GT-I9300 International Version(Check if yours is international version) I9300XWUGML4 using odin.
After you installed the ROM from odin. Immediately hit Power + Volume Up + Home Button. Access recovery mode hit Factory Data Reset.

hello !! so i have a problem. my samsung galaxy ace s5839i it's a bootloop!! first thing i tried was to wipe cache and because that didn't work i wiped also all data!! but still nothing. after that i searched and found that i need to reinstall the firmware . i had some problems going in the download menu , but i manage to get there. now the problem is that odin doesn't recognize it because also my computer doesn't or at least i think that is the reason odin doesn't see it!!! i've also downloaded and installed kies and usb samsung driver but still nothing!!
any idea on what i can do about this?! about how to make my computer and odin to see the phone? or another solution on how to escape from this bootloop?!

so now finaly made the computer see my phone but came another problem!!
so i used odin to try to reinstall the firmware , i found pit totoro_0623, some vodafone stock firmware for the pda, modem and csc and for the bootloader i could not find !!so i hit start , working ok finishing the job and after the phone restarted but it is stuck in appling multi csc and nothing is happening!! any idea ? what i can do?
so i finaly i succeeded to install the firmware by using odin 3.07 and S5839IXXLK3_S5839ILPMLL1_LPM in the PDA button , only this!!! but now it is stuck on the "samsung galaxy ace gt-s5839i " screen and nothing is happening . i'll keep it for another 30 min to see if something is happening !! is you have any idea , please reply!!!
