Maybe you need to flash a .pit file with Odin. But I'm not 100% sure...

Is it a danger to my mobile afraid to crash
and where i get that pit file ??
plz help
.pit file you will find somewhere here.
is there other way to fix it ? im afraid that pit file will crach the phone
or this is the only way....... przemcio510 i did't find any bit files on this forum
If you flash the correct .pit file nothing can harm your phone in any way.
If you carelessly flash i.e. i9100g pit, you're gonna have a bad time...

Well in that thread, you said you flashed a .pit file. These .pit files control the partition sizes on the phone. So the .pit file you used there is responsible for reducing your USB storage to its current size. You will need to find a .pit file meant for the 16gb model of the i9100.
Look at this guide, and download the recovery package specifically for the i9100. (not the G/M/P or T) That package should contain the .pit file for the i9100 16gb model.
EDIT: hmm. I just checked - looks like the packages don't have the .pit file after all. Sorry.

Hi, I've decided to update the fw and have never used Odin before, I am following Intratech's instrutions and have pressed the pda button to find the .tar file but in file I downloaded (from Samfirmware ) doesn't seem to have .tar file?
What should the pda file be labeled as?

Looks like you have un-zipped the tar.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
So am I not meant to unzip the winrar archive and just select it for pda, phone and CSC?
Just to point out that there are no .tar archives
Check the file extension on the zip, should be a .tar
Best to remove winrar and install 7-zip, it shows proper filename extensions.

I am having the same problem of my file clearly being located and visible in the location I want when viewing via Windows Explorer. Yet when I go into ODIN, the file doesn't show as an option. In the attached screenshot, ODIN shows me that there isn't ONE single file from this location that is usable via the PDA option?? Please help as this is really perplexing me.
Thanks!!
Hi, I was trying to root my device with insecure kernel, and then my device hangs on galaxy i9100 boot screen,
so, I've tried to restore my stock kernel, but it didn't help...
finally I've tried to flash the jpkg2 stock rom from intratec thread, also the same...
i tried this

and my phone stoped at this
and with fully falied odion tests...
now I can enter the download mode.
but recovery mode is not working
Note: there was no Kies when I did this, after that I tried all the things before with kies installed, and with samsung_usb_driver, and still got no success.
Note: Odion recognize my device, download mode is fine.
any help would be apprecciated.
Quite clearly not a "How To", and what was wrong with your other thread?
plz help i9100 dead.
im trying here to make it more clearly
I did't find any help in my last thread, so I tried to be more specific here.
Taken from Intratech's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
........................
3. Start Odin
4. Click on the PDA button and browse to the .tar file that you extracted in step 1
If the package has more than one .tar archive then they will be labelled with PDA, Phone/Modem and CSC. Just put them in the corresponding section of Odin
5. DO NOT PUT .PIT FILE AND DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TICK REPARTITION.
Anyone ask about .pit file is a moron

First thing I notice when looking at your screenshot is that you have ticked re-partition.
Second thing I notice is that you have tried to flash a PIT file.
Maybe that's where you are going wrong??
I found this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18961761&postcount=9
this man was unable to flash his device " Odion Fail"
so one of the suggestions was to use another computer, and yeh!! it works for him.

What was wrong with the replies? You didn't find a magic fix to your problem, which in all honesty, was just you being stupid putting the wrong files into the Odin boxes. If you want a magic fix, send your phone to Samsung and pay for the fix they do.
If you want a normal fix, listen to the replies given in the other thread. Don't start spamming new topics everywhere with the same question just because you don't like the answer. Remember, you killed your phone and others are actually trying to help you fix it....

Hello guys,
I wanted to change my rom of my phone and so made a backup of everything and also saw that the internal partition was messed by custom rom.
I saw folders like: "0/" and 2 more.
My idea was to repartition with pit file, but I was messing with NAND Erase All, and now I stuck with flashing in Odin.
When I want to repartition it doesn't go further then: NAND Write Start!!
I did try to:
- Terminate the Samsung Kies Process
- Try Different USB ports
- Try Different versions of Odin

The 0 folder was probably from an install of 4.2.2, and you could (and should) have just deleted it manually, if you wanted to get rid of it. Using a pit file with the SIII is generally NOT recommended, and now you know why.
In the FAQ, you might be able to find a way to recover it, if you can boot at all, but if you are had bricked, which it sounds like you are from the description you gave, you will need JTAG or Samsung repair.
Using nand erase all is probably what killed your phone.

That's what I was suspecting, I tend to use these in trouble, and it seems that using a .pit might only work with these, just an ongoing observation that I may be wrong about, but I certainly would try if I ever needed to use a .pit

Yep, although I'd have to be fairly desperate before I ticked that repartition box!
So many people seem to panic, follow the first advise they find and make it worse in the process. This one was very lucky.
My phone did work without any problems and after flashing a couple of new custom roms, the phone shutdown random and sometimes it reboots random.
I did swap the battery with an other one, but this didn't solve the issue.
I'm now downloading the Rescue Firmware and I will try this and hoping that this will solve my phone's issue.
I am also going to buy the Samsung Galaxy S4 monday, so I want to solve this problem with my phone so I can have it as second smartphone.
The problem was the eMMC chip The samsung galsxy s3 have the issue that the eMMC chip(storage chip) can go insane so you need a repair by Samsung. You can test this with an app called eMMC test tool or something for S3
