See, this is what I'm talking about here, HTC and their lies and bull****. The EVO LTE is the One X, yet, we have no ****ing 4.0.4 while EVERY OTHER US variant does. Well, that's the last damn straw with me... Proceeding to harass GPL off this bull****.

Some guy had the nerve to try and say I'm out of control. HTC is scrambling and losing because of bull**** post purchase service. If htc suddenly said "**** it, w need money so we are providing a universal s-off tool, BUT IT WILL VOID WARRANTY" people would buy the phones so damn fast it'll be like the itc hold up again. Samsung doesn't care about root and thats why they sale. Not to mention bull**** advertising by HTC. Eh, I don't know why you guys expect us to get everything the One X gets. Yes, the two phones are similar, but they have different development paths and different carriers.

you must be real daft to not expect support for such a new phone
this phone just came out a couple months ago, wouldnt you expect a frikking update just like the one x too?

HTC isn't losing much at all from not upgrading their phones. The majority of Android users will not understand or care about version numbers. Android is no longer something for just "nerds" like us. It has the largest market share of any mobile OS. HTC is losing money because they don't have lower end phones, and also because the name isn't as well known as Samsung or Apple in the US.
1) HTC cannot guarantee an update window without being sure of it. With this update being new, they will still have to go through Sprint and all of that before it gets to us. HTC probably has no way of knowing how long it will take, so they aren't giving us any sort of ETA.
2) This phone will obviously receive the update. That shouldn't even be questioned. It is essentially the same phone as the One X, but locked down to a single carrier. This most likely makes us the last priority because we are the smallest group. The One X is available in many more areas than the Evo is. HTC probably wants to get through the biggest group first and then focus on us.
3) You're being unnecessarily angry. The update was just released TODAY, meaning that it probably won't even be on every One X for a few days at least. Just because some HTC drone paid to avoid giving you answers told you on Facebook that they don't have any information to share with you doesn't mean we will be waiting a month for this update to come. Could we have to wait that long? Yes. But there is no proof that we will.
4) The current update we are on with this phone is good. The phone itself works fine. Why do we need this update instantly? Would you prefer HTC rush it out and have to deal with bugs? Why would you want to do that? If it isn't ready for release yet, then you just have to deal with that. Pestering them on Facebook isn't going to get them to go any faster. Spamming them with e-mails probably isn't going to either. There is no legally binding document that says they have to release this update. They will though.
Honestly, it is common sense that we will see this update in the future. When will we see it? We don't know. But to go on an expletive filled tirade just because HTC doesn't have a bone to throw at you on the first day that the update is available on carriers that are much less restrictive than Sprint is just immature and unnecessary.
Newsflash: it's easier to update a phone when you don't have to go through carriers. Also, upgrading phones outside of the US is much easier because a lot of less restrictive carriers. It'll happen, but HTC had to focus on one or the other first, and common sense says we weren't chosen because we're the smaller group.
Exactly..and they have pretty much the same software besides the bloat apps..but believe me they are not very happy either..devs are leaving and the bootloaders are locked up tighter than a nuns ass...I don't understand HTCs intentions but it could all be fixed with one simple upload of source

Think about what I said and your response to it for just a second. Is that second over? Ok, let's try that again.
1) Did I state there is not support or that we will not get support?
If your answer is no, you have survived round one and are allowed to continue!
2) Think about 4.1. What if HTC and/or Sprint thinks 4.0.4 is a waste of time and decides, hey, why don't we just develop 4.1 for the LTEvo instead? I mean, that could be money better spent, right? So, are we with AT&T and have the One X, or are we Sprint and have the LTEvo?
If your answer is Sprint and the LTEvo, you have survived round two and allowed to continue!
3) So where does it state that we will absolutely get everything that the One X gets? Is there anything concrete that links our LTEvo development to the One X?
If your answer is nowhere and nothing, you have won the game!!! WOOOHOOO!!!

Pro HTC? Can't you see, post purchase service is **** all across the board. The desire HD excuse is a perfect example. Your idea of carrier lock down is somewhat true BUT can be solved. I don't know why they let carriers muscle them. Apple says **** you, sale our **** or GTFO & they bend. HTC needs to do the same & Sammy does too. These cellular politics piss me off. I wonder what EXCUSE we'll get for not having android 5. I would much rather them come out & say "yo, we not upgrading your old ass phone. Buy a new one or GTFO"

So it leaks that the E3D and Sensation would be released locked down harder than Fort Knox and will seemingly be impenatrable, we as a community are understandable enraged at this. In a massive uproar we storm HTC's facebook, twitter, phones and email boxes demanding this be fixed. HTC finally caves after just a few days of this. We celebrate, then with no new news get impatient and return to the battle field to demand a time frame. HTC eventually announces a date in August to September. We again celebrate, but it is short lived.
We grow restless and deduce that HTC's method will require registering and voiding warranties. We again rage and lash out at them. No news to us made for angry users, tempers boil over and the forums are chaos. Then IT happens, Revolutionary is released! We are rooted! We have prevailed! We rub it in HTC's slow moving faces! HTC updates that their unlock will require registering and void warranty, WE LAUGH AT THEM! We have what we want, but where does that leave HTC?
Poor HTC went through all of this to please the dev community, they were dragged through the mud all over the media and in the end, all the people who demanded unlocking wont even use it since Revolutionary was released. I just kinda feel bad for them so I made this post to spread awareness, also the comic to spread laughs

very sad, whomever made the decision to lock it down must not be happy
You would think ALL of the manufacturers would know better at this point. Every time they try a new security thing, the android community embarrasses them. Every time Google puts out a new version of android, the community once again embarrasses the manufacturers.
I'm honestly surprised at this point HTC just hasn't caved and hired all the devs from here!
Why double post? Or something going on wit tapatalk seen alot post without anything or double post alot in diferent threads I think I ma contact the developer
To the op mm i guess don't really care about them knowing I'm rooted is legal and if sprint want to cancel my contract go right ahead I can get an lte device instead
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d
I think the decision to lock was idiotic.
I think the decision to revers that was inspiring (for such a large company).
I think the delay until unlock was disingenuous
I think rubbing the communities unlock in their face is tasteless and tactless
I think HTC wanting to know who unlocks is reasonable
I think I won't buy a phone from a company who wants to lock
I think I will buy my next phone from a company that doesn't want to know who I am because I want to unlock.
I will miss HTC, but, there is a gigantic PC market flooded with commodity hardware that is never 'bricked'. HTC doesn't subsidize these phones, Sprint does. HP and Compaq and Acer never asked me to identify myself if I planned on uninstalling DOS or Windows to install OS/2 or Linux or whatver....how is this different?
...sounds like they like their captive market, and who can blame them. Hopefully smartphones become a commodity market as well. Samsung and LG are game from the looks of things... Moto is not from the looks of things and HTC doesn't seem so sure... let's home they make the right move.
I can't blame them for trying to protect their market, but I can blame them for not changing with the times.

No other OEM is developing and providing software for you to unlock your phone. So many things can happen to hurt HTC if they didn't cover their ass on this.
Other companies may have easily unlockable phones but they are still unlocked through an exploit.. So they are protected. HTC has to do this to protect themselves.. It's 100% fair and nobody can come up with one legitimate reason as to why they shouldn't.. Yet, there are numerous reasons as to why they should.
This is a huge step and I applaud HTC. I have nothing to hide... I'll tell them I'm rooted and thank them for providing the means to do so

Sony has unlocking software available.
One legitimate reason is that I bought my phone and I have a right to do with it what I wish.
I can understand them wanting to protect their intellectual property, look at how other industries and company do it.
For windows for example you need a valid product key. For music and movies there is DRM(evil). For console games there is verification on the disc's.
Now if a Windows PC was so locked down I couldn't install a different os(linux) or purchase a newer os(vista to 7) there would be a uproar, and it would be well justified.
So your willing to void your hardware warranty to install custom software? When your speaker blows out or screen dies, your going to be screwed.
I've seen it happen with car warranties, somebody installs a intake and when their tranny blows at 10k miles they can't get it fied because they installed something that had nothing to with the problem.
I can't think of one good reason why anybody will be stupid enough to run HTC's official s-off unless they want to be told f-off.

It's none of htc's business what I do with MY phone. I'm sick of the entire big brother/nanny state mentality from all sides.
Big brother can kiss my hairy ass!
Hacking has always voided out your warranty... Even before htc offered the unlock tool. This is common sense. Htc designed a phone to work certain way... If you mess with the software and break it then its completely your fault.
Ps: Htc doesnt do the warranty work anyway, sprint does it... And recently they started covering even rooted phones...

Then It's not HTC's responsibility to replace your phone if you brick it. You don't want them telling you what to do with your phone, but if you do something that causes hardware malfunctions, are you going to man up, bite the bullet and buy a new phone, or are you going to claim its their hardware malfunctioning and demand a replacement?
With Android you have a lot of freedoms, but not the freedom to abuse a company

And that's how it should be. But anyone complaining about HTC saying that using their root method may cause parts or all of their warranty to be void, is just absurd. They can't be running around holding everyone that screwed up their phone's hand, taking the financial obligation upon themselves, when it was 100% user error.
Most people on xda won't think twice about using HTC's root method, and most won't screw their phone up. But HTC is releasing this to people that have never heard of xda, and there's a chance that they'll try to flash wrong radios, software from other phones, etc. They're covering their ass for the ignorant, general population that aren't part of the dev community.

at this point for the sensation and the evo 3d, anyone who knows/cares what a bootloader is already has their unlocked so wont even be using the HTC method.
If I am HTC i would do the same thing and have a disclosure like that for anyone using their method.

Do you really think a lot of people who have never heard of XDA or another dev site care about unlocking bootloaders or getting S-off, or have even heard of this? The only people knowing/caring about this HTC update are the ones interested in it and they know about XDA or similar sites, I think.

Yeah, the only reason I can see why they waited was because of the pressure from Apple and it's "your phone looks like mah phone!" 6-year old meltdown of a lawsuit that has been going on. I dunno.

You're post is a little confusing. so... you're waiting for the nPrime?. that's how it sounded. That's looking to be an October release, it's being made by Samsung too. Which I find odd, I would think Motorola would be involved. Yeah, I'm waiting for the nPrime. It's being made by Samsung which, while at first really put me off but I did sport an NS4G for a few weeks last month. Aside from feeling cheap and too light--which most people wouldn't see as a down side--it was actually a fantastic phone. Great battery life, phenomenal camera and an unmatched Android experience. It did have the traditionally weak Samsung radio, but, it seems that you can't escape that anymore.
...and so far as Motorola is concerned Google has assured it's partners that the bidding process for the Nexus line would in fact remain the same. Google is saying all but "listen, we bought MMi for the patents. The Set-top-box and mobile manufacturing is just a plus, that we don't intend to use." Of course time will tell how true that is. For the time being I believe them.
However a Motorola built Nexus would probably be fantastic as long as they ditch that ****ty Pentile screen technology. I bet they would have class leading radios and battery life too.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the nPrime. It's being made by Samsung which, while at first really put me off but I did sport an NS4G for a few weeks last month. Yea MOTO isn't far from being a great phone manufacturer..they do have pretty good build quality and their radios are bar none..they have been in that game for a while..ditch all MOTO blur or map and the pentile..add some Google magic and we could have a winner in a few months.

Agreed. Their designs are a bit stodgy looking, but their hardware (aside from those horrible screens and penchant for keyboards) is rock solid. They nearly invented cellular mobile phone technology. They have been doing mobile communications for as long as there has been a commercial mobile communications market. Their radios are fantastic. Build quality is always awesome. How many OG Droids do you still see around? Tons...and I have seen a lot that are beaten to death physically but still kicking ass, 2nd hand, 3rd hand...that says quite a bit.
Without knowing anything about the contents of their patent portfolio I am confident that it contains thousands of very relevant patents. I can't wait to see Google's next move.
I came from the Epic 4G to the Evo 3D. The main thing about Samsung was there slowwwwww release of updates. The Epic 4G rolled out with Eclair, took a while to get Froyo and is still awaiting Gingerbread. This really seem slow down ROM and kernel development. HTC seems pretty spot on with their OS updates.
I am waiting to see if Samsung support for their phones has improved. If it has, maybe I would consider going back. Until then, my Evo 3D is the shizzle.

A lot of people believe that developers don't want to cook for this phone due to S-ON. The phone should hopefully have S-OFF soon though, so we'll see if this is truly the case or not. Right now there only about 3 or 4 ROMs available (most are not on XDA though). Once HTC releases the ICS update for the Amaze, I think we'll also see a boost in development. Hope this helps.
Edit: also HTC hasn't released some driver code, so devs are having a hard time fixing things in their ICS builds.

I mean the Amaze and Sensation aren't bad phones, and I think they are getting the S and the X, so they don't have a terrible selection of phones (I think Sprint holds that honor). Personally I just don't like the way Samsung screens look. Not a big fan of SAMOLED. qHD and LCD look so much better to me.

yea ive always been a fan of HTC. they just feel solid in the hand, not plastic-y and cheap like samsung.
AWS carriers have been getting better phones over the years but it still doesnt compare to the selection rogers/at&t gets.

what do you think the retail for the one s will be? 5-600?

Yeah I know what you mean. I love the Amaze; I think it's an excellent phone with a great camera/specs/etc, but I do hope that it gets some more dev love once that S-OFF tool is released. (Actually as soon as we get our first fully functional ICS rom, I think I will love this phone forever....and by that I mean until I see a shiny new phone lol). ICS is just so smooth. I installed an ICS ROM on my MT4G, and I can immediately see a huge increase in performance over CyanogenMod 7.
Off contract, I'd probably guess ~$600-650 for the S. If TMo gets the X, I'm sure it will be the most expensive Android phone ever seen haha (probably $700-750).
there's no development now for the amaze because nobody wants to put in hours in a rom that they know nobody will use once the update comes out. So now's the time nobody's doing anything, and you won't see anything new til 4.0 comes out. Good things will happen when 4.0 is released
Don't get me wrong, the amaze is the best device I've owned, there is just a lack of info and support from tmo and htc. Hopefully with s off, more devs will come, so yes buy it

both of your trivial questions could be answered with simple observation...
Q. "why is there no development?"
A. um, maybe because we have only have a few devs here? maybe because we had s-on for the longest until recently? who knows?
Q. "what do you think the retail for the one s will be? 5-600?"
A. most of us here arent shopping for a new amaze...have you tried ebay? how about craigslist?
not trying to be an ass, but people come in here every day asking superfluous questions when a little legwork on their own would answer these types of questions...

I put most of the blame for stagnant development squarely on HTC's shoulders. I have always liked the build quality of HTC hardware, but I had never purchased any of their devices due to my loathing of Sense.
I bought this one based on thier claim of allowing full development for the device, but that's a bit misleading. If we can get S-OFF and get some good AOSP roms, I'll be happy. I'd love AOSP ICS, but I'll even live with GB.
I realize there are some Sense fanboys, I'm just not one of them. There is nothing about Sense that appeals to me and I want it completely gone.
My hats off to the devs who had to scratch and claw to work through HTC's BS. Great device, great camera, but you're enjoyment with the device will depend on just how much you like compromise.

i always thought HTC was good to the tweakers... XDA was built for HTC phones after all..
the only hardware issue i hear about this phone is some light-leaking near the bottom-side ends of the screen. not a big deal at all compared to sensations problems, although the sensation looks a lot better IMO
ill get the amaze. s-off and ICS seems like itll happen soon
hopefully development picks up

I don't really disagree with your assessment. Over the last year and a half vzw has turned into att lite, and HTC has just screwed its customers every chance it has gotten. It left the EVO view/flyer, jetstream on their current buggy ass builds of hc, they've might as well given up on updating their phones, as they wait so bloody long to do so, then they have bowed to vzws every demand. I will definitely be leaving both Verizon and HTC at the end of the year when the new nexus device hits. (assuming it does hit then) to me it seems like vzw got the iphone and immediately quit worrying about how to bring in new customers and keep their current ones happy. I'm probably going to go to tmo and stick with unlocked unbranded phones.

Just because you put a custom rom on doesn't me it voided your warranty its a possibility but not a guarantee if you know what your doing. I agree with most your points, but I got the phone for $150 off CL (because he wanted an ics device instead, LOL) so not only did I get a great deal on a mint condition phone because it didn't have ics on it but then I went home and slapped it on myself from xda. So in a way I kinda like that Verizon/Htc hasn't released ics yet. Plus its cool knowing your one of only a few thousand people that have a rezound with ics. I just wished the would give up the source code for the kernel already.
At this point the only way I'm buying another HTC phone is if it is a Nexus device. After coming from the Motorola "OG" Droid, I can't stand the indifference these companies seem to have towards us. If HTC would've been more communicative with us, telling us what is going on instead of giving us some vague release date, I might've given them some credit.

It doesn't matter if this was a Samsung, Motorola, or LG, all companys treat their customers this way. Seems to be an industry standard. All big red does is interfere with this further with all the bloat they require. All I'm saying is HTC is not unique in how they handle themselves. I started with a Samsung Omnia (windows based), then got a Fascinate, Charge, and now Rezound. The Rezound is hands down the best phone I've had. Both the Fascinate and Charge suffered radio problems and if you read the Nexus forums they complain about the same thing. This also steered me away from the SGIII. Still a Samsung product.
Just my 2 cents......

While I agree that the rezzy is by far the best, I still wish I hadn't further supported HTC due to the way they are handling the tablet issue, and now the updates on the Rezound. And honestly I don't hold my breath for us getting jb. Honestly I think it will be like the tbolt is right now with Ics. Just a functional rom without a cellular modem. Which is sad given how incredibly much I like the phone itself. But the only way to get (insert mobile headset maker here) attention is to stop buying their products they won't support once they leave the shelf. And Verizon lost me when they axed unlimited data grandfathering. But then won't give me a discount for not buying a subsidized device. (ala tmo) so, I just can't continue to support companies that continually screw us the customer over.

Why do people get so "angry" or "furious" because there's no software update and says the manufacturer is horrible? Last time I checked the rezound cane out of the box with everything working. It's funny how people want everything....patience is key.
The update is a luxury not a necessity. Should I get mad at Microsoft because Windows 8 isn't out officially. The product they already released does everything I need for the time being.
Also, why would you want a company to rush a product? Try rushing your barber to finish your haircut quickly and see what happens. It seems very childish to get mad at a manufacturer for a SIMPLE update that is coming SOON.
The people of today...always wanting everything NOW.

I think some of it is symptomatic of the market. Handset makers are pushing out new devices every 4 to 6 months, and it stops being cost effective to update them all. Which sucks for us, but it makes good business sense.
If they would only push out source, RIL included, it just wouldn't matter.

All that you're saying sounds good and all but that argument is tired. If htc says we're giving ics, we expect it. And with barbers you see progress and know it's happening. You don't see him pausing your haircut after telling you 2pm to go work on someone elses and then coming back to your at damn near 1:58. Or him giving you a fresh haircut then ignoring you after you ask him to touch up your hairline after you paid him.

It's the whole thing of lying to the consumers that pisses people off, not necessarily the lack of updates IMO. If HTC had never mentioned that we were getting ICS there wouldn't be so much *****ing and moaning because people wouldn't expect it. When I got the Rezound back in November, I was told that it would have it by January. Here we are almost 8 months later with still no update. HTC has had it ready for months but Verizon refuses to push it out until they're ready. It's not the same thing as your Windows 8 analogy because the transition from Windows 7 to Windows 8 is paid for. It'd be more like you buy a computer with Windows 7 and a few months down the road your PC manufacturer says "We're not going to release any new drivers for your hardware, sorry." then MS says "We're not going to release any updates to Windows 7 for you anymore, sorry. Please buy Windows 8 to get the latest bug fixes."
I gotta say HTC and Verizon really ****ed this up. I've had good experiences with HTC before, but they are just so Hit-or-miss that it isnt even funny. Verizon... POS. Come november when my contract is over, I'm going to get whatever is the next nexus device (if its HTC then awesome) on AT&T
I don't really care for the official ICS because I am already enjoying ICS with sense 4 with Newts One XxX. However, it pisses me off to see that the rezound is still without official ICS. I don't think anything can justify this, other than than Verizon trying to promote other phones and not caring about a phone because it was not branded "Droid". The Droid razor already has ICS and I dont see why the Rezound still waiting. And what's more frustrating is the silence of the two companies... They simply don't care about what the customers think...
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
I would have to say the rezound has been the worst experience I have ever had with a HTC phone. It seems that since the HTC One series drop nothing else matters to HTC. I hate to say it but this may very well be my last HTC handset. I need a phone that I can compile the source on my own I guess.
Edit:
I see a lot of blame on Verizon but I don't believe (and I maybe wrong) any other HTC handsets have ICS either like the EVO3D (were I came from).
Why even push an update now that isn't even an update? It needs to have sense 4, IMO that would make it worth the wait, and get customers more excited and loyal towards HTC products. But nope. Gonna be sense 3.6 lol. Meh w/e they have been shooting themselves in the foot lately. All of them have in a way. Samsung used to be terrible with updates but not so much anymore... Their phones are just iffy, radios and such...

Oh I'm almost 100% sure Verizon is the MAIN problem. HTC has probably had it done for quite some time now but I'm sure Verizon keeps rejecting and making them lock stuff down more, while promoting other phones in the meantime. This last leak is almost perfect, and how long have we had it now?
I've noticed that the DNA is NOT on the HTC website nor has Verizon done ANY TV Advertising for this phone. They normally swarm the airwaves when a new phone comes out, like they're doing right now with the HTC Windows Phone. Why is that? Is this like a "Test" phone to see if HTC will make a strong comeback with Verizon?

This isn't at all uncommon. Samsung sinks a ton of money into advertising. As does Apple. And it works. Even among my relatively technically savvy friends, they consistently think that the best device out there is going to be either Apple or Samsung. They are barely even aware of HTC. HTC needs a strong advertising campaign, and until they are willing to put money into that, they will never be as prominent as Samsung.

Ok, THIS is strange. I just went to the HTC site about 20 minutes ago and there was NO mention of it....now-it is. Before anyone asks, yes, I cleared my cache. That answers that, but why hasn't VZW advertised this phone?

Its been there since like a day after it was announced.
But its not on the international website, only the US site, for obvious reasons.

This isn't at all uncommon. Samsung sinks a ton of money into advertising. As does Apple. And it works. Even among my relatively technically savvy friends, they consistently think that the best device out there is going to be either Apple or Samsung. They are barely even aware of HTC. HTC needs a strong advertising campaign, and until they are willing to put money into that, they will never be as prominent as Samsung.

imo they aren't really that tech savy if they judge things by tv commercials - most of which have no real specs in them. But yeah, HTC needs to advertise more. My Incredible wasn't advertised enough either.
The DNA looks like absolute crap on HTC's page for some reason.

I went to every authorized vzw dealer in my town on black Friday. mybullfrog.com store, Verizon kiosk in the mall and two separate best buy mobil locations where literally none of the sales people had even heard off the DNA.. finally I broke down and went to our corporate vzw store ( I've had customer service issues with them) and even there the sales rep knew almost nothing about it but they did have it.. it did seem like they aren't hyping it like others have been.. Bionic was all over the media. Not sure if this is good, bad or if it even matters.. just an observation.. although I kinda had to educate the vzw rep on the phone which is a little funny.

I've seen it happen with plenty of other phones I've had in the past. The LG Nitro HD and Samsung Infuse 4G both spring to mind. The Infuse 4G was the first phone with a 4.5" screen - kind of a Galaxy S1.5, and the Nitro HD was the first with a 1280x720 display. They were both fantastic phones that performed well, but never had much of a following because no one was talking about them (except me). When manufacturers put out something that is the first of something, they don't necessarily put a lot of money behind marketing it because the public may not buy into whatever they are selling - and if they create a lot of hype for something that falls flat it has a much worse influence on later products. It is a timid approach to be sure, and they will never topple Apple with that attitude, but it's a common approach nonetheless.
For us, the biggest issue is that it could impact developer support. Personally, I'd love to see a Viper ROM for this phone, but if not enough people get one, the Viper Devs may not bother.
That's a good point... I always tend to go after the "latest greatest tech" rather than what is "popular" haven't had a device officially supported by the cyanogen guys since the Droid 1 ha. I'd love to see more dev's getting on the DNA train but for once I am actually content with a phone as is (except the constant wifi notification and the bloatware) but I have fixed that with the mod's. I honestly would be okay with not having any aosp roms or even custom sense roms at this point... I am very happy with this phone.
One thing I am seeing more and more though is how some apps seem to react weird to the screen resolution. Not a huge deal but it is definitely something I could see people freaking out about had HTC really boosted the hype of this device.. All in all I am glad I got the DNA, as long as stock updates (android 4.2... Etc.) don't take too long, like many HTC devices do, I will be very happy with this phone
Yep.

Absolutely.
I do not like the lighting on the phone. Makes the phone appear to be made of glossy plastic on the front. Also, the display looks like a cheap sticker on the front. I know the shot is not of the actual phone, but it does the actual display no justice.
Basically, if I saw this press shot when this device was being rumored, I would not have got as excited as I did with other leaked shots. Just a personal indifference.

Actually the Rezound was the frist 720p device by a few weeks and HTC website and the VZW stores were going crazy. There display model had a huge sign over it with the specs with beats and 720p in bold along with an over ear beats headset next to it for you to try out beats. Why can't they do that with the DNA. Even the One X got a lot of advertising. I think it is VZW that really is in control with all this.

Good call. I always had a tendency to dismiss Verizon's wares because they used to lag behind what was available on GSM networks. (I used to just import all my phones from overseas, since they would come out there months, and sometimes even years, before they made it over here.)
I believe VZW is down playing HTC devices now in general. After the Thunderbolt and ReZound debacles. No upgrades/long waits for upgrades. (More VZW's fault than HTC's...) Mediocre if not bad battery life stock. Truthfully I think HTC devices have been a headache of sorts for VZW minus the Incredible series. I just think VZW tech support is happier if more people owned more "user friendly" phones instead of lots of people owning HTC phones complaining about battery life, heat issues, slow/late updates, or just plain lack of updates. HTC is possibly tired of VZW as well. VZW not picking up the One series and stalling updates to add bloat or tweaks to already released phones doesn't help. HTC's Facebook page was getting pummeled with request for information on updates for the T-Bolt and ReZound, but even with VZW in control most people painted HTC as the bad guy.
Plus business-wise is supporting a hurting company like HTC a good investment if you can make more promising investments on thriving comapnies like Samsung and Motorola? If HTC does go under it won't hurt VZW one bit, so why would they care.
