[STOCK] Stock ROM for YP-GS1 - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

Hi guys !
Don't know if i'm in the right place, so move this thread if not.
I'll try to summarize what we get now to come back/fix the YP-GS1 (Galaxy Player 3.6, Galaxy S Wifi 3.6).
First of all I just want to say that I'm not responsible if any hard of soft brick occurs after flashing or doing something with anything here. I'm not responsible of your device. You do all your manipulations on your own risk. If you don't agree with it, leave this page
Currently we haven't a "real" stock ROM, but a pre-rooted ROM which is stock with root
So it's simple it seems there is two versions of our player. I own a EU model with a physical button, and all of the packages I will show here ran correctly on my device. If you have the YP-GS1 with a capacitive button, it couldn't work properly.
Here you can find a pit file, thanks to saleenman95
Here is the pre-rooted ROM, thanks to hundz with Kernel, System and Cache.Try to flash it before trying other things. Be carefull it is only Korean and English. Here is an little guide.
Here you can find a COMLETE dump of our partitions. This means that we have a complete Stock ROM.
Thanks to :

hundz --> re-uploading of PreRooted Rom
leonardomagno --> first upload of PreRooted Rom

ICS on Virgin / Bell Canadian S2?

Hello all,
Please be patient with me. I have some experience with the Galaxy tab and various custom firmwares on it - but I have not flashed new firmware yet on my brand new S2.
Now, since the official EU ICS is out, I would like to flash my S2.
Several people have done it, but the instructions are somewhat cryptic.
Could please someone post step by step instructions about how to do this?
Including: what files to use, what modem to use and also how to get this rooted?
Thank you in advance for the kindness of someone who has done this!
What's ROM you want have on your phone, stock or custom?

But some widgets look a bit off (for example the widget where i can switch wifi etc. on/off). Is that how it should be?

how to restore with pit file? (GALAXY PLAYER 4)

How can i restore the Galaxy Player 4 to stock rom with the pit file safely? without bricking? i need to do this because i accidently wiped data on the ARIO ROM and now the wifi won't work, when i turn it on, it crashes and reboots.

Use Odin, but why do you need to flash with a pit file? Did you already try flashing back to stock already with the regular recovery stock rom? And one more thing what GP 4.0 do you have? Is it the USA, International, European or Korean one?
Anyways go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720457 download odin, the stock roms are there as well.

There sometimes I think this: why did I make an all-in-one thread when nobody's check on it and then after complains where are all the stuff over and over (no offense for you as you're new here) anyway here's the full recovery link:

Actually Zaclimon I have it bookmarked on my browser lol. It was one of the first things I found and it helped a lot. I usually suggest going to it when people ask how to flash, where are stock roms, and etc . I think that the thread should stay permanently at the top of the Q&A section.

[Q] i9100G - Root + CM10 install help. Firmware confusion!!

Hello People,
Let me begin by stating that I am very very new to Android rooting and custom roms (actually, this is my first time ).
I have a SGS2 i9100G. I have attached the screenshot of my phone software details. I have searched on the internet and XDA but am unable to find or maybe understand how to root my device and install CyanogenMod 10 (JB 4.1). Whenever I reach a post which seems like the way to root my device, it talks about firmwares and modems which are different than what my phone has.
I would be very very greatful if someone can sort this for me and provide some links and steps on how can I successfully root my phone and install CM10 (JB 4.1). Thanks a lot already as I know people will start replying in no time.
Cheers !!

But pay attention to what kind of kernel you flash, because you have ICS, and I haven't checked if the links in the thread are maybe for Gingerbread.
About flashing CM10: just follow the flashing guides on xda, and make sure you download the file for I9100G.

Hey buddy,
Thanks for the reply. I checked the link but it does not says anywhere about which firmware or android version I should be. As the latest update is from March, 2012, I am assuming that this is for Gingerbread with old kernels. I don't feel good about flashing this. Do we have anything specifically for my kernel/firmware?
Thanks for your reply again. Hoping you will lead me to the right path.

I'm don't really follow the I9100G-threads as I myself have an I9100, so for rooted ICS-kernels you can flash through Odin you have to look for yourself (or someone else might know this)...
And what about flashing the official GB-rom with Odin, then root it with the link I send you, and then upgrade by flashing a custom rom..?

Hmmm...your advice about downgrading to GB and flashing rooted ICS seems to be a good way to go. But I am very new to flashing and I am not sure if I will be able to go through everything without bricking my phone. Thanks anyways.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S2 Firmware/Software Update

Hello,
I recently got a gift from a friend in the form of a Samsung Galaxy S2.
Last time I've owned a samsung phone was before the smartphone era, however I am familiar with other smartphones running android.
This phone, has the following info:
Android Version: 2.3.5.
Baseband Version: I9100XXKI4
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKI8-CL616395 [email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWKI8
Kies Info --> PDA:KI8 / PHONE:KI4 / CSC:KI2 (ODK)
If I try to update with Kies it says that my device's current firmware is not supported to update via Kies.
From what I've researched, the region code at the end (ODK) means that the phone was originally purchased in Sweden. Will that be a problem?
As far as I know the phone was not locked when I got it since I'm using a different carrier in a different country.
I tried to look up codes for Galaxy S2 that can tell me if the phone has a locked bootloader, if it can be unlocked, etc, but without any success.
So my questions are the following:
1. How can I update the phone to the most recent samsung firmware?
2. I know that official firmware comes with a lot of bloatware and I wish to get rid of it, and for that I need root, how do you do it on a samsung?
(i have no idea where to begin since my last phone's software/steps followed seem to be completely different)
3. Is there a way to change the firmware/region code or whatever to the country I'm currently residing in?
and last but not least, any suggestions on what I should do?
Cheers and thanks.

1. Afaik Kies will only update if you are using the stock firmware from the country you are connecting from. Custom firmwares will not work. The easiest way to flash the latest stock firmware is via Odin.
2. Install a kernel that roots your phone like Siyah or Dorimanx.
3. Search for threads in XDA about how to change your CRC.
Hello Megaritis,
Thank you for your reply.
Regarding the CRC, I need to change it to the country i'm residing in only if I plan on updating my phone via Kies, right?
I'm not planning on flashin JB just yet because i think it still needs some polishing. I want to flash an official ICS ROM on Siyah's Kernel.
My current to do is:
1. Get Odin, and flash the new kernel.
2. Get an official ICS ROM and flash it.
3. Get Titanium Backup and remove the bloatware if any.
4. Use the phone.
Anything else I should do / know?
Soo...here is where I am so far:
1. Downloaded SiyahKernel v5.0.1.
2. Downloaded PDA and CSC firmware for the country I reside in (from SamMobile.com).
Whats next? Stick them all into Odin and hope for the best?
PDA -> PDA
CSC -> CSC
PHONE -> SiyahKernel
???

Instead of doing all this together I suggest you just flash neat rom Lite (ics version, the latest v4 is JB) its the stock firmware with every bloatware removed and it is pre-rooted. Even v4 is pretty much stable and cool too as it is based on the leaked stock JB.
And several flashable addon are also available for it.
And If you are going to proceed with what you downloaded, flash Siyah after flashing the stock firmware.
Also before you proceed I suggest you check for brick bug, which can potentially superbrick your phone, Stock ICS 4.0.4 Kernel contains the problematic command, if you are effected, never perform any wipe or erase or reset with the stock kernel, just flash Siyah before doing all that.

I expect the same from others.
Could you post a small walkthrough on how I do that?
EDIT: My current android version is 2.3.5. and I plan to flash 4.0.3. stock and then remove bloatware.

Remember "neat rom Lite" is suggested not just "neat rom" , and read the forum and instructions carefully.
NeatROM v3 is ICS I guess. And it contains v3 Siyah just flash the newest (which you downloaded) one if you feel like it(it's pretty much better)

Right.
I flashed CF-Root in order to root the current os.
Now, I wanna flash to 4.0.3. first. I downloaded an archive with a tar from sammobile.com from a carrier in my country.
How do I aproach this?
I put the .tar i downloaded in PDA in ODIN, and flash that first, and then put the Siyah tar in the PHONE field in ODIN and flash that second?
So long story short if you want to perform a factory reset, wipe do it from a kernel that is deemed safe like Siyah latest (v5.0.1 I guess).

I get what you're saying, both files go into PDA and they get flashed separatly, Siyah being the second in line.
But I have the following problem, or do i?
My current kernel is XWKI8 and as far as I know you can't flash different CSC/FIRMWARE if its not compatible with the kernel.

Yes, so flash Siyah first, then the rest.
When I was referring to flashing Siyah I meant updating it, but if you have an incompatible kernel you must flash siyah first.
But if you are flashing a stock firmware (not tampered with) the kernel doesn't matter as the PDA file contains it and will overwrite the existing one with a compatible one.

Agreed, I raised the problem only because sammobile.com's info on the file i downloaded doesn't list a kernel and I assumed that it only contains the PDA and CSC.
So if you are flashing with tar files you most probably don't need to worry about kernel, for example in neat rom Lite v3 it includes Siyah v3, but in case of flashing zip files you need a compatible kernel before hand.

Bro just make sure what kind of file do you have? A zip or a tar? Flashing a zip(it's done via CWM) - - >compatible kernel required
Flashing a tar(via Odin) - - >if kernel included nothing to worry just flash.

Hmm, I think the .tar file does contain everything needed, even though i flashed siyah first....
I guess i'll have to re-flash it after its done.
By the way, any idea how I remove those flash counts?

Okay so its done. For some reason the android version is indeed 4.0.4 but the phone is okay, i downloaded that app and it states that the chip is ok and again, for some other reason, its still rooted, i don't know if the tar i had contained a kernel or not, but its all good now. I HOPE.
EDIT: Wops....spoke too soon, i saw the superuser app on my home screen and I assumed its rooted, but its not. Gotta re-flash siyah's kernel now.

Well, I flashed the kernel but now titanium backup is stuck at Searching Application Data, but it did prompt me for root priviledges... :|
EDIT: Meh...it was probably stuck because it was trying to access the SD card but my cable was still plugged in....fixed.
Now, i have one last question for the night: now i have 2 "root" apps in my homescreen, one is superuser and the other is supersu, judging by the fact that the "superuser" one was there when I first booted, I suspect that its useless and the supersu is the one with the root. How do I remove it?

[Q] [Aroma Rom for 5830i] Can i flash only the phone

Hi,sorry to bother you,i've searched for this situation on wiki and of course on the internet, but I wasn't able to get a clue about it.
Here's my issue:
I've flashed my GT-S5830i with [Aroma Mod v.11] using the stock kernel in order to see SIM contacts, but i was forced to install the stock firmware from India (as suggested by the Rom developer/creator),because with italian firmware i was stuck on the GT-S5830i logo...
Now my question: Indian stock firmware Baseband Version is S5830iDDLA1 ,the italian one that I've got at Samsung drivers is different.
Should/Can I replace only the modem "firmware"?
Also this value is different XXLA2 is for Indian stock firmware , XXMB2 is for italian one, what is this value and where i can check it in Aroma Rom,since it's not listed under "Phone Information" ? Just wondering if this can lead to any kind of issue.
If i replace the phone firmware could this break the ROM ? Where to put the XXMB2 file in Odin,in case you suggest me to replace it?
Thanks in advance for your time, consideration and awesome works!
Sorry for my english.

Thanks for the reply, but prolly, I've explained myselft in the wrong way,so far the cellphone is working without any issue, but since i'm a perfectionist ,
I wanna know if it is possible to flash only the Phone part and leave the rest untouched ,and if that could "break" the Rom and revert it to stock.
I've got the latest firmaware for my phone, what I wanna know is if I need to check Re-partion too or not.
Same story for the XXLA2 vs XXMB2 (what is that value by the way ?? ) and what file do i need to use once i've splitted the md5.
Thanks again.

Actually I'm just wondering if a different BaseBand version could lead to some phone signal issue, like low band signal and so on,that's why I'm asking;but if you're telling me that the phone will work perfectly fine.even with that diffrent BaseBand version,I'll be good (I've installed Aroma v11 yesterday,so I'm "testing" it)also what are XXLA2 and XXMB2 ?
