In the Amaze 4G manual it shows a voice input and output under settings, but I don't have it in my menu. I would like to be able to set it up where texts can be read aloud over my speaker or headset while I'm driving. Can this be done on the Amaze?
Thanks in advance.
I kno there is some text-to-speach settings in the keyboard settings. U can install voice data and stuff. Not really sure what those settings are for though I've never messed with them

I purchased a Motorola TZ700 Roadster and paired it up with my Atrix. Pressed the Voice Dial button and it works.
Did it a few times and everything seems ok..
Then the Atrix screen goes blank (I have it set for two minutes)
If I hit the voice dial button on the roadster while the phone is 'asleep' the roadster beeps twice and I do not get a "say command" prompt.
If I unlock the phone and hit the roadsters voice dial it works.
Seems to only have a problem when the phone is asleep.
I then tried to play music over the roadster while the phone was asleep and it plays no problem.
Has anyone else come accross this? any solutions? Ideas?
Is this normal for a android phone?
Thanks,
Pete
Try freezing viingo. Worked for me.

Bluetooth voice dial
On my ATRIX and I believe all Android phones from Motorola if you have a password set bluetooth will not work to start voice command unless the phone is plugged in to a charger. I know my ATRIX will not start voice command unless I unlock the phone. Not good as I can't have a password and bluetooth voice dial, not happy.
hope this helps

Thanks for the replys.. Freezing vlingo didn't resolve it.
I'll guess I'll have to live with it and plug it in when I get in the car..
Appreciate the reply.. thought I was going nuts...

On the Atrix just having the screen off (no password set), bluetooth voice commands will not work. The funny thing is I can even hear the phone beaping but the headset does not beap back to take a voice command. Using all Plantronics headsets.
Does anyone have a headset that this does not happen and you can BT voice command with the screen off?
Bluetooth voice dial
I use a Motorola S605, EQ5, Finiti, Oasis and H15 they all work for voice commands with screen off. I did not have good luck with the S10-HD. Check your settings for bluetooth and I very strongly suggest you install MotoSpeak. In MotoSpeak under Settings Enable Voice Commands and Enable Listen. MotoSpeak is an amazing program!
Hope this helps,
MTWIZARD
I use a plantronics headset that works with voice dial as long as no pin/finger print security is enabled
There is a setting under "Security" that will enable voice dialing when the phone is locked
I used Grove IP and download it on the marketplace and used my google voice account to log in. Now you can make and received call from your flyer as long as you have a wifi connection.
Just wanted to share something to the community.
can you then pair a bluetooth headset?
thanks for the find

Yes that did work. Now is there a way to receive calls from a cellphone calling you from Grove IP?
I use my Skype account and it also works well.
I know there are ROMs that enable the Bluetooth functionality, but is there a flashable zip to do the same thing for those of us who'd rather stay with the stock ROM?
Be sure to change your settings in Google voice. Don't have it forward to any number have it forward to Google talk or email that way if anyone calls your Google voice number it rungs your tablet with grooveip. Wired headsets are confirmed working. I used the standard htc headset with the inline mic that came with every android htc phone I purchased and the work perfectly for you hearing the caller and the caller hearing you.
Thankyou I was having trouble getting it to receive calls.

No, you have to root, but you can keep the stock ROM , just rooted. Just to be clear bluetooth works on totally stock, but not bluetooth headset. There is a small mod to one text file you do once rooted that enables headset profile for bluetooth
Just want to know if it uses the sim or google server to call?

Doesn't need a SIM if you have wifi its a VOIP
There is actually a very active forum thread with the developers of GrooveIP here.

My Epic 4g Touch worked pretty good with my MyFord Touch setup in my car. It would show artist and song titles when streaming music. It would notify me of new text messages and read them aloud.
In comes my brand new Evo LTE. All that went out of the window. Pretty disappointing. It will stream music fine but no titles on the radio display. It does not tell me about new texts nor will it read them for me.
So... the latest greatest isn't as advanced as my last phone. Bummer
EDIT: I spoke too soon. I found a setting under the advanced bluetooth settings: Message Access. I set the service to on and now the messaging does work through the car stereo... Still no song info though.
Sounds like software issues that more than likely will be resolved down the line. This phone has bluetooth 4.0 so one would think that technology would get better as time goes on.
I also have a Ford with MyTouch software on it, and love the Bluetooth feature. That sucks to hear, but is something I can live with. It doesn't let you respond to the text while driving anyways. I've always wished you could talk to it and reply to texts that way. What kind of car do you have?
I hope they will be able to fix that. I have a 2012 Explorer.

Nice dude I have a 2011 Sterling Grey. I freakin love that thing.
afaik its 4.0.4 that has the new bluetooth stack with whatever acrynum it is that does that.
and yes, I hate it too. My tC loves my touchpad for that feature.
4.04 on the Epic Touch didn't have this issue (feature). Come on HTC!

Now the music isn't streaming either. Hiccups ever 5 seconds...

thanks for the tip. no idea on the skipping though. Finally got the phone to cooperate with my 2012 scion tC (stock radio)... but i blame that on made radio more than my phone, that thing is always doing what it wants.
its AVRCP 1.3 that displays track name, and again, afaik its in 4.0.4.
Others are also having the same problems on the Att HOX with their cars. Also having issues with audio out of sync with video when using Bluetooth headset or speakers and watching movies.

Did you do anything else or it just worked after you checked that off?
I have a 2011 Edge and I have it ticked off on phone but the car screen still says phone doesnt support messaging.
I might have re-paired the phone with the car, but not sure.
Update of Bluetooth Music streaming. If you are having trouble streaming music via bluetooth, turning off Wifi fixed my problem. I turn it back on and the music stops and goes every couple of seconds.
Hopefully HTC will fix this soon....
I recently bought this phone and was listening to music, until someone called and I picked up the phone using the headset. However the other person didn't hear me and when the person hung up the music started playing through the speaker and I had to reinsert it. Is this headset comparable with the phone or is my headset messed up? Thank you.
Sorry I'm viewing this through the app and can't tell which phone you have. When I had my I beats and a HTC thunderbolt I had to go into the voice and input settings and turn on tty vco mode to get them to work correctly..
Also if you search the play store for headset controller there is some apps there that let you program the action button. You can set different responses such as one click answer call double click start music long press pause etc..

i have not test it with beats on the sIII, but it did do it with others ( as in other headphones on the sIII)! but i had the sII with beats and it did that exact thing!
That's just how it worked the one time I owned I beats .. thought it might be worth a shot..

I'm using the stock Beats headphones that came with my Rezound, with no issues. Buttons work and everything. I'm on Verizon though.
Did some research and apperatly the Ibeat's mic isn't compatible with gs3. That's just great
How do I turn down/off the ridiculously loud Google Now voice search bleeps and bloops? I'd rather just have it vibrate or, you know, not alert everybody on the block that I'm trying to use voice search. Is there a way to do this? (No, I'm not turning down the phone volume, these sounds are disproportionately loud to everything else on the phone/planet)
thanks
I second this question. it is really loud no matter what the phone settings.
Reviving this thread, is no one else bothered by this??
Interesting. I have the complete opposite effect. All Google apps are super quiet. Google voice; can not hear in ear but speaker barely. Google now; can not hear very low volume. Volumes are all the way up: ringtone, media, and alarms yet those two Google apps are super quiet.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 4
I think that it is very loud. Not uncomfortably loud, but I don't like the fact that I cannot control the volume level. It doesn't correspond with the volumes set by the phone.

Yes, very loud. I use a wired headset and that voice blows my head off as it announces the connection. I wish there was a way to control it. An app??
