This is my first incursion into Android, so apologies if it's a basic question/has already been answered elsewhere (not that I could find it via search):
I have somehow lost the vibrate function
I have been installing quite a few apps & have rooted the phone, as befits my first contact with Android , also I conected via PC connect to the update service, and it downloaded an (outdated) update.
It may well have been while trying different profile managers - but despite enabling vibrate in the system menu, and in the profiles of the current profiles app I'm using (called Profiles), no joy.
All suggestions gratefully received
Tia.
responding to the onslaught of concerned posters
having got into the service menu, it seems the vibrate function is not working.
Doing some serious googling on the subject, this appears to be a RELATIVELY COMMON issue with this terminal - so be aware.
(mine has disappeared into SE technical service for a couple of weeks to get repaired)
What happened with yours? Did it get fixed? Anything we can do to fix it ourselves?
maybe try repair it with PC Companion.

Please help its important. It's my Brothers Phone.
I believe you will need to reflash the phone.
Use SE update service

Is it the only way, because I don't have Broadband connection and last time I updated from 1.6 to 2.1 it took a lot of time over Dial up. Reflashing the last thing I could think of.

Hi guys,
This is my first post.
I just got a Sony Z2, and yesterday I updated it to latest firmware 17.1.1.A.0.402 using flashtool. After that, everytime when I switch off my phone and turn it on, the message of "...android.process.acore has stopped" appeared.
I tried to flashed the phone again using PC Companion to re-update the same firmware. I though the error message has gone but than it is still there.
I have tried several ways as mentioned in this forum but the problem seem to be there. I don't see any problem/error caused by this error message yet.
Any idea/solution to completely remove the message?
Go into settings > apps > all apps, clear all data for anything relating to contacts then all will be fine, make sure contacts are backed up tho of course

I have tried and have not seen the message. Will keep you updated if it has conpletely gone

Update: It happened again when I reboot my phone today. Is it possible a firmware bug?
I should wait for the next release, hope Sony will fix this issue.
Regards,
I'm on romaur which is 402 and haven't seen this error since I wiped contacts data so not sure, you still on stock or?

I also have the same issue as the OP. It particularly happened after I upgraded to .402 using PC companion. The message will appear always after restarting. My devices has not been rooted. Tried to clear data and cache for contact apps, but after restarting, the message appeared again. I am still lazy to do a re-install because aside from the message appearing only after a restart, there are no other major effect to my Z2's performance. but clearing it will be nice though.
I have the same thing when i touch the phone immediatly when it just restarted, but when i restart and leave it untill screen goes off i don't get the message.

Hi guys,
Thank you for your info.
I tried to disable contact sync of Viber and I think the message has temporarily gone. Sometimes it still pop up but not as often as before I disabled the contact sync of Viber.
Apparently, this problem is caused by contact synchronisation between Viber, Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp, etc. Other users, such as Samsung phone users, reported that they have the same issue but when they turned off contact sync of the above-mentioned apps, the error message somehow has gone.
To be honest, I have just recently switched to android from iPhone, and I have been usings iOS for years and never seen any kind of issue/error like this on iOS. However, Sony Z2 is one of the greatest phone I ever owned and I am so happy with it, specially its crazy battery life.
Hope you guys will share your solution here if someone can fix it permanently.
Cheers,

i had this problem, amongst others stopping my phone. i pulled the sim card out, then rebooted the phone. the phone then showed it was updating all apps i let it boot up and it seemed to work. pulled battery and put sim card back in. and all ok so far. i have sent my phone 3 times away to vodafone for this repair, with android.clock stopping, android.phone stopped working and the phone actually crashing on the samsung screen and not even booting up. each time all they do is a factory reset. like duhhhh, i have never thought of that (sarcasm). i am hoping that doing this, will give my phone some sort of permanency in it's repair. i have not rooted the phone, it is stock.
Vodofone refused to replace the handset even though it had been in so many times for repair. word of advice. steer clear of vodafone. i am cancelling all my contracts with them.
sorry that went off topic, but i want a phone that works and vodafone will not help you in that matter.

Xperia's have unremovable batteries, maybe you should steer clear of Samsungs
Is that a good thing or a bad thing though? Cos sometimes taking a battery out is what could be needed to fix a problem.
But point taken. Perhaps a change of manufacturer would help

I know people who advocated pulling the battery from devices as the only answer but I've yet to come across a situation on any device which couldn't be handled with >adb reboot or a three finger reset.
There's actually a method on Xperia devices, to disconnect the battery and plug it back. It's called "Hard Reset". Yeah you don't take the battery out in reality, but this method does it in Matrix dimension. So, the consequences are the same.
I have problem with my Xperia GO mobile phone. The problem is following: when I dial number is need a few second (5-6) for dial a number. I have android 4.1.2 . Also when anyone call me and when I answer the call it is still vibrate my mobile 3-4 second. I tried to reset my mobile phone (factory reset) but the problem is again. My call log is empty and I have not a lot of apps. Anyone to help me how to fix this problem?Sry for my English. Thank you
its a bug, happened with me too, and its not related to how many apps you have.
try this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/themes-apps/mod-z1-phonebook-xperia-t2650232
this phonebook too has small bug (in call logs) but otherwise its a fine app.
you might need supersuser mod for this to work. you can install the package from here, or do it manually too. search in forums for it.
please note : this app too lags while launching but delay is only of 1~2 sec. i have no other issues.

I did not make any action. First of all I uninstalled my Viber application and now I have not the problem with my dialing and receiving calls.
Is this Viber bug or andorid bug? How to fix it?
I want to use Viber and this issue to be fixed.

I contacted Sony technical support and they told me to repair my mobile phone. So I did not repair my mobile software. When I uninstalled Viber app the problem was solved.
After that I permanently deleted all viber files with File Manager on my sdcard memory (Viber folder with all stickers, backgrounds, user photos etc..) and I reinstalled again the Viber. Now I have Viber and I dont have problem.
I dont know how it solved on my Xperia hahah . Try to repair will be solved
How to repair?
Before you start the software repair, you need to have the PC Companion application installed on your computer. PC Companion is preloaded in the memory of your phone for direct installation but also you can download PC Companion to your Windows computer from this link for free http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
To update your device software using the PC Companion application
1. Turn on your Android™ device and connect it to a PC using a USB cable.
2. Computer: Wait a few seconds for PC Companion to start. If PC Companion doesn’t start automatically, you can start it from the start menu on the computer.
3. Computer: In the Support Zone application, click Start, and then select the Phone Software Update option.
Follow the instructions on the screen. Please note that you should not disconnect the USB cable when updating your device as it can damage the content being transferred.
I had this problem, and I never even installed viber...
If it was solved for you by removing viber, let's say you might have had ram shortage, or viber extension to phonebook is buggy..
Anyways, the problem is solved. Cheers!

You solved this dial problem?
Could you share your method?
i already did !
see my first post in this thread.
you should try this phonebook. as i said earlier, it will need superuser. details are in first post.
and other things you can try :
- turn off sync for contacts from fb, viber etc.
- add exception of contacts, phone and other related apps in stamina mode (if you use stamina mode, it helped me alot ).

It works on CM10-CM11?
Now I have CM10, without viber, without any contact sync, without stamina, but with dialling bug.
I can make call ONLY after reboot. After a few hours can't make call or receving call!
In this weekend I try downgrade to ICS and I hope...
Don't know if it works with CM,see the thread for support.
But you can search for another phonebook which works with cm.
And your problem is different.
I heard about it somewhere, it might be related to kitkat os.
KK was having problems with 3G.
Signal loss etc.
It was temporarily solved by switching to GSM mode.
Default is wcdma(preferred) /GSM.

CM10 = Jelly Bean
Cyanogenmod uses another kernel and phone/phonebook app as stock firmware. But the simptome is the same: ONLY call can't making or receviing!
Never ever app freezing, ONLY the com.android.phone!
OK, I'll try ICS, other say: ICS fw don't have this bug.
Yes, ICS don't have this bug. (i used ics for about 2 months before JB was released. no problems there...)

Hi!
Disabled the contact syncronising (google, FB, etc.), seems like solved the bug.
good to know that my method worked for you too.
i think the lag is caused by some dynamic features of the phonebook.
NOTE : Disabling sync might increase the overall load and response time, but you should manually sync your contacts with at least one online account regularly, to avoid data loss. OR, you can make backups to internal/ sd card too.

HI =)
I´ve had my Xperia Z5C for a year, and now a couple of days after latest update the fingerprint option is suddenly gone. I´ve tried to talk to Sony support with zero result, they had me trying to check settings, to try in Safety mode(option gone there too), to clear cace in the app setting of it, and to repair in Sony Bridge for Mac, but nothing has worked. I can find Fingerprint in Settings and Apps, but I cant find it in the settings menu for activating it. Also when I configured the phone after Repair there where a option to set up Unlook-screen and the fingerprint where not mentioned there either. Its just all of the sudden gone. I see that US dont have the option, but I live in Norway so thats not the issue, plus I have had it from day 1 and up until now a year later.
Any suggestions ?

So it doesnt give info that fingerprint hardware is missing in lockscreen if you try unlock phone with fingerprint.
Maybe your option is to flash latest fw to phone with flashtool
Hm... Yeah no, my phone does not give me fingerprint option at all anymore. One day last week when I was about to unlock the screen all I had to do was to swipe(the power button does nothing at all of I try to fingerprint), and when I went to Settings to check it out there wherent any option for Fingerprint anymore... The same result when I had the phone on Safety mode to test there to. No Fingerprint option anywhere. But, when I go to Settings-Apps I can find Fingerprint there. But the option to use it is all gone on my phone now.

Yeah, I dont understand what happend. Had my phone for 1year(and its norwegian) and with fingerprint and then all of the sudden the other day when I was going to unlock the screen all I had to do was to swipe. No fingerprint, no code no nothing. Now I cant find the Fingerprint option in my phone anymore. (I only find the application in Settings - Apps - Fingerprint) but no sign of it anywhere else or geting it to work.
I've checked for it in Safety mode, I have tryed Repair in Sony bridge, and I have tryed Factory reset. But still same problem.
My phone is not locked to a carrier, and I dont know about all this flash, roots ect you guys/girls talk about in here, haha. Think I have to take it to the shop... Hate sending away my phone tough
