Which phone do I have - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a canadian galaxy s2, and I am just wondering, first which of the 3 versions I have, because when I click on our phone to just show our accessories, q&a, and stuff, there is 3 for android development. I'm trying to figure out which one I am because I bought my phone used off kijiji. Also once we figure that out, I want to go back to complete stock, and then update to the latest revolution remix. or what ever it is called.
I don't mind chatting through private messages?

If it doesn't has a "G" (GT-I9100G), then it's probably an international galaxy S2. Check /system/build.prop to be sure.

Good.
Now what do you mean by 'I want to go back to complete stock'
What's your present ROM information?
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII

I am currently on resurrection remix 1.9.1... I want to go to the latest one, but when I change or upgrade roms, I usually want to go back to like factory stock with no root and then reroot and install the rom. But I have an unlock and I use the one by heroez. So what do you suggest?

[Q] Which Version

How do I tell if I have an international version phone or some other version. I'm from Canada and I am on the bell network? Reason for asking is I was going to try and root my phone.

Label under battery > Model: ?
Settings > about phone > look for the model number.
afaik the I9100M works perfectly fine with international roms.
The I9100T also does, but needs to use I9100T modems.

Sorry for the nitpick, but this can be changed by a ROM flash. e.g. an I9100T can be made to read as just an I9100 in that menu if an I9100 ROM is flashed.
Heck, someone who was an SGH-I777 user flashed an I9100 rom, and this read as an I9100, and displayed GT-I9100 on the boot screen afterwards.
EDIT: Here's that post I was talking about.

Yes, that is true, but if someone is asking ask they are going to root, its reasonable to assume that they haven't put a custom rom on there phone.
But you are right, thus they could do both, that way they could know if its been changed

Is the I9100G getting ics the same time as I9100 S2 ?

ok,I didn't want to start a thread for this but I already asked here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1401673
But no one seems to know.Am I going to wait 3 months or what ?
You didn't get an answer because nobody knows. Ask Samsung
Samsung says no plans of ICS for I9100G.
But samsung also says i9100 and i9100g is the same.
Try to put ICS for i9100 on the i9100g.
Or try to put cm 9 on i9100g.

If you do either of these, you will end up with a paperweight. Different chipsets means firmwares are incompatible between the I9100 and the I9100G.

Where did you read this? I9100G newer and Samsung shipping to Europe nowadays. Of course official ICS will come to "G"

I'd take anything this guy says with a huge grain of salt. He also suggests people try flashing ICS for an I9100 to an I9100G, or flashing CM9 to an I9100G. (Which, PLEASE NO ONE DO - unless you hate your phone)
It was a silly move from samsung to get a new model of the S2 anyways, thats just..useless.

Its not that Samsung is silly but the way they are handling the matter makes the customers who choose 'G' look like silly.

He is having a i9100G
You have an I9100G. If you flash roms/kernels for the I9100 on your phone you run the risk of soft bricking it at best or hard bricking it (return to Samsung for a repair you pay for) at worst.
Make absolutely sure any rom or kernel you flash on your phone is specifically for the I9100G. I cannot stress this enough.

And it's about time.
Edit: interestingly, even though the new i9100G forum is visible on the web site, it doesn't show up in the XDA android app yet.

Not that I really cared (since I have an i9100, and not a G)... But I had to unsubscribe and clear cache on the app, and resubscribe. And now it shows.

Check phone model by taking out batter and writing down everything written on the phone beneath the battery place.

Search for odin in google and how you go back to stock. when you have read much about flashing via odin, go to Sammobile and download your perspective version of stock ROM and flash it via odin.
