Charging! Stock vs custom - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just asked myself why don't the custom Roms charge as fast as stock? I remember that when I bought my s3 it charged like hell. And now it's pretty lame. Doesn't matter if cm9, cm10, aokp, 4.0.4 or 4.1 custom Roms.
Anybody know why?

I can't think of a reason why a custom rom would slow the charging rate but if you were yo install siyah kernel it would have a variable charging current in milli-amps the stock is 1000 and it supports up to 1200 mA this will decrease charging time but could increase heat produced.

As far as I know with that kernel you can only change charging speed from USB charging!?

Well you may have tried an older version or be misinformed the ac charge is the current from the wall
Also I managed to click thanks when trying to reply :S

As far as I know, I'm using the kernel, and I can tell you that you can change both. AC charging up to 1200mA and USB up to 900mA (only USB3.0 supports 900mA)
Also, I've noticed that AOSP ROMs do charge slower, don't know why though.

Thanks to both of you. So I probably only used a older version of the kernel.
But as the man above me said he noticed this too. And that's exactly what I want to find out

Problem is EVERY phone's CPU is a little different. One persons settings may or may not work. Its best to pick your own setup. Look at your voltage steps and if it helps write em down. If your going for battery start at the highest step and undervolt -25 and stress test the shat out of your phone.. if you find its stable, either increase by another -25 or move down to the next voltage and repeat the same process.
Its a long and grueling task but you can achieve stability if your looking to crank up the speed or save battery

Quadrant score with ics

What quadrant score do you get with stock ics on your phone?
I get around 2800 which to me seems low
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
I agree it's not that high. But, quadrant score aren't a fully accurate measure of how a system runs. I used to get the same score on my desire z with a ics port when clocked at 1ghz.

I guess you're talking about AnTuTu... never ever you got this points on Quadrant. My best points was 3240, but on Custom ICS.

You can't compare different Devices with Quadrant, that's right. But you can see if changes on your Phone (Roms/Scripts...) take effect in positiv way or not.

I agree with that statement, but.... In my experience with editing scripts, framework mods or roms. You can tell effectiveness of said above changes just with use. Sometimes your your phone will run better but quadrant will say otherwise and visa versa.

I like running Sunspider. It's run through your browser and runs Java tests. It's a very thorough benchmark and something I run before and after every update, or when I get a new device. Lower numbers are better, as the results are in milliseconds taken to run the test.

Noob here....how do you check this ?? i just manually updated my razr to ICS and would like to check this score for S & M's....please and thank you!

Download the Quadrant app from the Play Store and run the test.
For the chip that phone has you should get around 2500/3500 which is pretty good on quadrant. That app is really accurate i had the htc sensation which got around 2700 quadrant score. Now i own the htc evo 4g lte and it get around 5100 quadrant score. You can feel the difference in the speed. The newer s4 chip make any phone that has it fast. I was a skeptic of the power the s4 Qualcomm chip but i believe now. Twice as fast as last year duel cores.

LOL, no problem! Your score should be inside the bar graph that says "Your phone" or "Your device". I forget what it exactly says without looking at it right now lol.

Battery always 100% issue

Good evening
A friend of mine has an Xperia mini pro
He's facing always 100 percent battery problem
The problem is happening on multiple kernels
On CM kernel it's working fine :what:
Is there any known solution for it?

I think its problem with the battery . . . Same happened with me. . Try changing the battery.
It's a known bug on Kernel Panic,Kappa 1.4 and above and Stock kernel ....It doesn't exist on Mesa,Lupus and Radeon ...Ask him to flash Mesa,Lupus ,Radeon to remove the bug ...
I think you should try wipe battery stat in cwm
Now I have a Nexus 4,but I had a LwW and I also had this problem.
I just flashed my phone with .62 GB FTF and it was working fine.
Then I updated it to ICS using SEUS and it's fine for now,my dad uses it and he's not facing this problem anymore.

Best is to test different roms and see which one is good for you. The same for kernels. And as for batterylife you can use apps like Greenify.

Thats a bit of the problem. There is no top 10. I have tested many roms, some work good others do not. But that is just my personal experience. I just flash a rom i find interesting, after reading the thread of that rom. And start testing it. If i don't like it i just try anothe one.

Disable A57 Cores?

Does anyone know if there's a way to disable the 2 A57 cores on the V10? They seem like the main cause for bad battery life on this device and I would gladly sacrifice performance for better battery life. Thanks.
Please explain why you think this is a cause for bad battery?
