Hy guys, a friend of mine who has a galaxy s2 told me that on his galaxy s2 always enabled the dual core, with CPU GAUGE i see that on my razr only one of two cores is on, there's a mod that enabled all the cores ? ( sorry for my bad english xD )
I just read the comments in Store. One Guy replyed that it shows 2300mhz on his S2
The most CPU Apps will show you just one Core but all 2 Cores working

Gingerbread and prior versions don't support multi threading. One of many reasons to look forward to ICS.

The stock CPU governor is moto_hotplug which let's the second core sleep until needed.

I've tried to find some informations about the governors that we could choose in CPU Master. But maybe I was not looking in the right direction to find some useful Infos.
Can someone explain the difference between Hotplug, Ondemand, Performance, userspace and interactive (Moto-hotplug doesn't exist in the new GSM-leak)
I actually run the hotplug-governor, because it's the smoothest for me.
But my question is, which one is the best for performance or battery drain?

I found a (relatively) easy way to replicate the final result mentioned in Post 8 of the linked thread. Just for reassurance the second core is indeed there and functioning.
Download SetCPU from the Market, or here on XDA, install and run it. Go to the Info tab and scroll down. You'll see an option to Stress Test the CPU.
Before you click the option, start up a command window and adb shell into the phone.
Click the Stress Test option in Set CPU, a notification pops up saying it's testing
Enter : cat /proc/cpuinfo and hit enter
It should return a result similar to this:
[email protected]_spyder:/$ cat /proc/cpuinfo
cat /proc/cpuinfo
Processor : ARMv7 Processor rev 3 (v7l)
processor : 0
BogoMIPS : 2395.62
processor : 1
BogoMIPS : 2175.33
Features : swp half thumb fastmult vfp edsp thumbee neon vfpv3
CPU implementer : 0x41
CPU architecture: 7
CPU variant : 0x1
CPU part : 0xc09
CPU revision : 3
Hardware : mapphone_CDMA
Revision : 0000
Serial : 0000000000000000
[email protected]_spyder:/$
You can end the stress test as soon as this comes up by hitting the back button.
Hope this works for you
Yes, we need to make the system work hard enough to enables the second core, such as running benchmark, playing game or as simple as the shell commands which I demonstrated in that thread.

ondemand/interactive/userspace/performance - uses both cores all the time
hotplug/moto hotplug - disables one core when there's no load, and enables automatically when busy.
If you want the best performance, set your governor to performance and leave it at 1.2ghz
(though you wont feel any difference and your battery life will suck and your phone will be a hotcake.)
What quadrant score do you get with stock ics on your phone?
I get around 2800 which to me seems low
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
I agree it's not that high. But, quadrant score aren't a fully accurate measure of how a system runs. I used to get the same score on my desire z with a ics port when clocked at 1ghz.

I guess you're talking about AnTuTu... never ever you got this points on Quadrant. My best points was 3240, but on Custom ICS.

2967 rooted stock ics. Although i believe quadrant means nothing.

You can't compare different Devices with Quadrant, that's right. But you can see if changes on your Phone (Roms/Scripts...) take effect in positiv way or not.

I agree with that statement, but.... In my experience with editing scripts, framework mods or roms. You can tell effectiveness of said above changes just with use. Sometimes your your phone will run better but quadrant will say otherwise and visa versa.

I like running Sunspider. It's run through your browser and runs Java tests. It's a very thorough benchmark and something I run before and after every update, or when I get a new device. Lower numbers are better, as the results are in milliseconds taken to run the test.

Noob here....how do you check this ?? i just manually updated my razr to ICS and would like to check this score for S & M's....please and thank you!

Download the Quadrant app from the Play Store and run the test.
For the chip that phone has you should get around 2500/3500 which is pretty good on quadrant. That app is really accurate i had the htc sensation which got around 2700 quadrant score. Now i own the htc evo 4g lte and it get around 5100 quadrant score. You can feel the difference in the speed. The newer s4 chip make any phone that has it fast. I was a skeptic of the power the s4 Qualcomm chip but i believe now. Twice as fast as last year duel cores.

LOL, no problem! Your score should be inside the bar graph that says "Your phone" or "Your device". I forget what it exactly says without looking at it right now lol.

I just asked myself why don't the custom Roms charge as fast as stock? I remember that when I bought my s3 it charged like hell. And now it's pretty lame. Doesn't matter if cm9, cm10, aokp, 4.0.4 or 4.1 custom Roms.
Anybody know why?
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9300 mit Tapatalk 2
I can't think of a reason why a custom rom would slow the charging rate but if you were yo install siyah kernel it would have a variable charging current in milli-amps the stock is 1000 and it supports up to 1200 mA this will decrease charging time but could increase heat produced.
Regards
Jack
If you have any questions please ask
As far as I know with that kernel you can only change charging speed from USB charging!?

Well you may have tried an older version or be misinformed the ac charge is the current from the wall
Also I managed to click thanks when trying to reply :S

As far as I know, I'm using the kernel, and I can tell you that you can change both. AC charging up to 1200mA and USB up to 900mA (only USB3.0 supports 900mA)
Also, I've noticed that AOSP ROMs do charge slower, don't know why though.

Thanks to both of you. So I probably only used a older version of the kernel.
But as the man above me said he noticed this too. And that's exactly what I want to find out

Hey guys, I've recently changed from an s2 to a razr. On the s2 however, it was possible to undervolt the screen with the help of either a custom kernel or a script, such as this one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1715151
would it be possible to do the same with our razrs and the stock kernel? it was night and day difference for me in terms of battery life for the s2

yes it is.. the battery savings to the s2 was quite substantial...
i got all the way to kallsyms, but the variables are too different from the s2 for me to recognise them(am just a noob at this tweaking business).
Hi guys. I'm really done with my rom and kernel I'm currently using. I use omega rom 4.3 and Googy max kernel and some apps like sd maid and such. and it's always. going crazy, my apps. close themselves, Handy shuts down or reboots. I would like to get. some help from you experts. I would like to know which rom and kernel I should download for i9300 galaxy s3 to have everything stable. also maybe app suggestions I can buy in the playstore to improve the performance of my Handy? thanks in advance guys I'm really happy about help and appreciate it.

Best is to test different roms and see which one is good for you. The same for kernels. And as for batterylife you can use apps like Greenify.

Thats a bit of the problem. There is no top 10. I have tested many roms, some work good others do not. But that is just my personal experience. I just flash a rom i find interesting, after reading the thread of that rom. And start testing it. If i don't like it i just try anothe one.
