Phone stuck in Boot, more details inside. - Legend Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone was working perfectly fine until yesterday, when I went to the pool and carelessly left my mobile phone near some humid/wet clothes. When I got my hands on it, it was /working/ or so it seemed yet I couldn't put the SIM code to unlock it. It then restarted and got stuck in a bootloop.
I removed the battery, checked the Water Damage stickies and everything seemed fine, but still wasn't working. Today I got home and dropped my phone in rice (I heard it's good in order to absord water and such) and after a while I removed it, put the baterry in but now it just gets stuck on the boot screen.
I tried going into recovery, was able to, but can't surf through the menu because volume keys don't seem to work.
Any ideas what is wrong with my device? Any suggestion for a new phone if my phone doesn't come back from the dead?
Technical data?:
Unlocked with HTCDev Unlocker, rooted, and flashed CM7.1 with no problems before.
Two year old device.

Bump and extra info about my problem.
I left my phone discharging it's battery and seeing if anything worked okay. This morning it was off and wouldn't turn on, so I put it to charge.
After some hours, I got it's LED green so I tried and turned it on. It did, but still didn't pass the Cyanogenmod bootscreen, so I tried going into Recovery, and it worked! Now I'll try to tinker it, and see if I can get it fixed.
So, if anyone out there has the same problem I have, they should try killing their battery and charging it to 100%. It seems the battery malfunctioned or is almost dead, but a man can wish and see if he can repair his gadgets.

Glad to hear it's fixed! I'm sure many others would feel the same way about your recommended remedy!

Thanks!
When I had access to the Recovery I backed up my phone and wiped dalvik and cache, then re-installed Cyanogenmod (now upgraded from 7.1 to 7.2) but I'm currently considering switching to another ROM, like an ICS'
Everything works fine, except the SIM, but I believe that's a problem on my own end (network not working)

[Q] Phone freezing at startup

Hello Everyone, this is my very first post so please excuse my ignorance. I am helping out a buddy who dropped his fascinate on water, he quickly took the phone out and removed the battery and cover. He then placed it for 2 days in a bowl of rice as he read online that it would help dry the phone. He was able to turn the phone back on and it seemed fine as it started loading however it keeps freezing. I was able to put the phone into recovery mode and flashed to factory VZW ED05 from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178544. Everything went fine however the phone is still freezing. Is there any other way to fix the phone or does he now have a paper weight?
Try odining one of the stock recoveries.

Time to call Verizon. "I swear, it just stopped working!!"
Ok so i was able to do a stock recovery via Odin and the phone got a bit further, i was able to load the unlock screen and it actually gave the tutorial but then it froze again I rebooted the phone and it did it again, it seems like the phone freezes randomly (sometimes during boot up, sometimes while loading home screen) I took out the memory card to see if that was causing issues but it happened again. I also used a different battery and same thing happened.
@jimv2000- that was going to be my suggestion to him but instead he went and order an iFAIL device
I really want to fix his phone and see if he will sell/give it to me so i can have a backup

[Q] Battery not charging, Other Issues

I'm going to try to be as specific as possible.
I had been flashing pretty much every third release of cm9 until the AOKP port came out a month or so ago. I was running the first aokp release until wednesday, at which point I switched over to the newest version. For each of the different ICS releases, I wiped, installed, rebooted, wiped cache, installed, gapps, rebooted, and never had any problems.
On the most recent install, everything was running smoothly and didn't have any problems. Last night, I put my phone on silent for a movie at about 8p. At about 11, I noticed my phone was dead while at a friend's house, so I plugged my phone in and walked away. I picked my phone up after I left, went home, and plugged it in again. I got the moto bootup, then it went to the battery splash, which showed 5%, and it immediately jumped to 100%. I rebooted, and it sits on the motorola screen. If I unplug it, it immediately dies; plugging it back in without hitting the power button takes me back to the battery splash, 5%-100% (the led changes colors as well).
So, I still have the rom and things on my sd card, so I reflashed, but it's doing the same thing. If i hit power, it gets to the moto screen, then black screen, then reboots. I'm using joker's recovery. If I plug the phone into my computer, I get a white LED, and no power, no found new device notice on windows, and nothing in device manager.
I'm sort of at a loss at this point. I think I could possibly use the microsd->sd adapter and put another rom on my phone's sd card, but that's about the only way I'll be able to transfer files.
tl;dr
1) Phone (running ics aokp, joker's cwm) died last night, will no longer charge
2) battery splash goes from 5%-100%, but the battery is actually dead
3) Can get into recovery, but the rom i flashed hasn't been bootable
If you guys have any ideas, I'd love to hear them. I think I'm going to try to throw a different rom onto the sd card, but I'm not sure why it would, or could affect the battery charging pre-boot.
Get a Spare battery from your friend and flash SBF.
Give a shot.

Yeah, I'm waiting until the sprint store opens so I can grab a charger.
Update: My sprint store no longer sells the photon, nor do they have a battery/external charger. I called sprint, and they're sending me a new phone. I'm just going to use the new battery to (hopefully) use rd and flash the sbf, then keep the new one.
Alright, so hopefully this will help if anyone has the same issue:
I borrowed a friend's battery and was able to flash the stock sbf onto my phone, relocking it. Even after that, I'm still not able to charge my battery; it still jumps from 5%-100% with zero charge.
When I called sprint, I just told them that the battery wouldn't charge, and I wasn't able to boot. They had me go into recovery (which at that point was still cwm for me, but I pretended to follow along with their steps) and factory reset. When I told them it still wasn't working, he put me on hold to talk to his supervisor, then said he was going to send me a replacement. I think I might have lucked out a bit, since I'm not within 100 miles of a repair center.
So I wasn't able to fix my phone, but at least when I send it back to sprint, it will be locked. I guess the fact that I'm getting a new phone is a bonus.
I had kind of the same issue, but being that my phone is out of warrant, am out of luck. Now I have to use an external charger or hope to be by a computer before my battery completely drains out :-(. I can still charge if I plug it into a USB port on a computer.
Has anyone figured this problem out I have the same problem just this morning.... I'm not anywhere near uss store ... I have tried 2 batteries and both do the same
OK so I went and got a dock for the batteries and after letting them charge and die again they seem to charge fine in the phone now.. very weird

[Q] Phone won't turn on

Hey guys,
Last night I plugged in my LGOG right before I went to sleep. About seven hours later I woke up, woke it up to check the time, then fell back to sleep. When I woke up again a few hours later, my phone was completely dead. No lights go on when charging, nor does it go into the charging mode that happens when the phone is off but charging. The power button does nothing at all. Connecting it to a computer does nothing. I have tried two different wall chargers and a USB plug, and have tried different outlets. The phone is rooted and unlocked. I haven't put any new apps or anything on the phone recently, however I have had a slight overheating issue lately. I don't think that that's what caused the issue though, as when I woke up for the first time and woke it up, the phone was not noticeably hot, and seemed to work fine. Any ideas or suggestions?
Edit: As suddenly as it stopped working, it has started working again, about two hours later. The notification sound buzzed, my phone turned on, and usual on start things happened. However I'm still extremely worried about it. Now that it's on, I assume there's more I can do to figure out the issue- suggestions?
These phones are terribly buggy when charging/when they die, IMO. Worst Android device I've ever had in that respect.
Probably just a fluke, tbh.
Unfortunately it happened again- sent a message, put my phone away, when I tried to turn it on again nothing happened and it stopped working for five minutes.
Apologies for not mentioning this before, but I am using carbonrom, not stock. I've used it for several months with no issues, and have used the latest build for a week or two now without this issue.

Reboot into recovery and wipe cache+dalvik
Maybe the rom needs a little cleaning

Tried wiping cache and dalvik, but didn't seem to solve the issue. Then my phone started having an issue it's had once before- it turns on for a few seconds, then the screen goes grey for about a minute, then returns to being on. After returning to being on, it acts like it's just started up- ie, there's superuser grant notifications, cpu set notifications, and all sorts of other stuff I usually see on boot. It essentially rendered my phone unusable, so I restored an earlier backup. This seems to have resolved it for now, I may have to wait before updating carbon again.

Either you have a bad phone (possible, LG seems to have some QC issues based on some of the crazy reports Ive heard fm other people on this forum [Mine's fine]), or it's all the startup **** that you have going.
Do you usually let it discharge to below 5%?
that's a stupid idea with any device, and seems to be especially damaging to our LGOG.

Have mine 2months been careful not to let the battery shut down on its own but thirds past Monday my car charger weren't bad and the phone shut down. Would not except a charge after that. Went to att and they sent me to a service center. They could not charge it either. They replaced it, now making sure my external battery backup its always charged. Do not want to do that again.

That sounds like that could actually be the issue. On the previous iteration of carbon I almost never allowed it to go below about 10%. However the new update seemed to be harsher on battery life and it slipped into the 1% range several times...
same thing happened to me running root box with no tweaks or anything. I woke up and the phone was off, been that way for two days now. it wasn't on the charger so its definitely possible that it died. I actually found this thread because I could've sworn there was a report of someone who had to do a battery pull. I'm thinking that's my only option now.

[Q] GS4 will NOT turn on

My phone has been working fine for the last year and a half regarding hardware and battery. The device itself has never given me any issues and the hardware is in pristine condition. Roughly three months ago I bought a ZeroLemon battery and case and have been using that since. The battery is also in great condition (no warping or expanding) and the case still looks brand new. BUT today when I went to use my phone (about 20 minutes after I unplugged it) I noticed it was off, and it will not turn back on at all. It will load the splash screen (it's rooted and has Xposed framework installed) but after one or two seconds it shuts of immediately. Somehow I did get it to boot into TWRP and I was able to make a quick backup, disable Xposed, run a quick factory reset and fix permissions. I flashed Cyanogen M12 and I thought everything was working fine (I was running M12 before and have been running Cyanogen for as long as I can remember.) but after 5-10 minutes the phone randomly shut off again. I have looked into this issue all day now and everyone that has had a similar problem has had battery issues. I have tried 4 different STOCK batteries today, as well as my ZeroLemon one and nothing has gotten it past the splash screen again. I am almost certain this is NOT a hardware issue but I have no idea what would cause it in the terms of software, since I haven't changed anything recently. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to let me know. I'm looking for immediate fixes right now, so sending it back in or getting a new phone are secondary options. If you have advice just let me know in a comment or PM me, thanks guys!
Edit: At this point I can't do anything, ie: enter recovery, get the splash screen, enter odin (anything) it's like the battery is dead but the same exact battery works just fine in my friends phone.
Have you tried downloading the MDK full wipe tar, flashing it with odin, and using loki to root and bypass bootloader again?
So it turns out - after I took it apart - it has a defective power button. The actual piece that is soldered on. I don't know how to go about fixing it from here
Kind of strange but my device did the same thing today. I have tried multiple batteries with no luck. Will boot but then turn off before it reaches the boot animation. When I try to enter recovery or download mode it does the same thing.
Have either of y'all found a fix yet? My phone has the same issue (turning itself off after about 2-3 seconds after the boot animation begins).

I think he said it was an issue with his power button.

Phone completely froze, can not use it anymore!

About 2 months ago I bought myself the new Pocophone F1. I really enjoyed the phone and everything looks to work fine. Then yesterday something weird happened. I wanted to unlock my phone and use it, and then touchscreen did not work. It looks like nothing registers, even the fingerprint scanner does not respond. So ofcoures I restarted my phone and thought it will be just temporarily. After restarting, it was still frozen, nothing worked and I could not even get out of the lock screen. I restarted it like 10 times after that, and well without any explanation it worked again, I was very happy and thought it was just an app that caused it probably. I used my phone for about 2 hours, and than the same thing happened. And even after restarting it still was completely frozen. So I decided to just go into recovery mode and Wipe all data and just get a fresh install. I had my images and such on Pc anyways. But even after the wiping of all data, the touchscreen is still frozen!
I do not know what to do anymore. Now it says that the device is locked and I have to unlock the phone. I can not touch any buttons, because it is still frozen and the feedback of the fingerprint is not working as well.
For your information, I have not once let the phone fall and always used a case. I removed the case also, did not work. The phone looks just like I bought it yesterday, looks nothing wrong with it, but still touchscreen frozen. I really hope someone can help me

Since you have performed a complete reset and the issue still persists it means there is something wrong with hardware. There is nothing you can do at this moment except to visit the nearest service center. It may a bad display cable or bad touch digitiser
Do you have a microSD inside the phone? Because if you do, try remocing it first. That happened to me as well and only removing the SD card fixed the problem.
