Camera solution on CM9 - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hi, i have spent my whole day on testing camera's with CM9 and stock one is s*** and then i was looking for stock Sony cam (it has at least a god AF and then after 4-6 cam.apk i found one it is actually a cameraICS.apk with some changes and i put permision.apk from my stock rom and its great. I don't know if some one is found better solution if has please post it cause i seen that dev treat about cam develop is closed or something and i realy need this thing to be as much great as it could be with our 8 MP Cameras. Just put this two apk's in system/app/ (delete old one's).

[Q] I need help with camera not working

I really wanted to thank everyone in xda because you guys are doing an awesome job. Seriously I don't ask questions I read as much as I can until I find the answer but in this specific case there is a wall in front of me and I cannot go any further. Today after two days struggling with my Xperia X10i finally I installed the MIUI V2 also I used the KeRnel FXP133.ftf. There are some things working there are some that are not, but my concern is with the camera because I've been reading for a while and most of the people say if I understood right that the camera is functional. I'm really new installing custom ROMs so I don't really know what else to try or to read because the main threat has 153 pages of information that i don't really understand also I notice that there is a post that says ICS Camera fix 8MP/6MP [v0.9] I did read but without any solutions for my phone. I can life without the camera feature but having my phone incomplete doesn't make any sense to me. Once again I truly appreciate everyone’s job in here, thank you for your prompt answer.
Best regards

Generally most ICS ROMs on the X10, don't support Cameras because the drivers arent there. But you can always just fall back to a 100% Stable GB ROM
Good Luck!

[Q] Not that noob question, more information about kernels and roms

Hi everyone, my questions here may seem strange or noobish, but I'll ask them anyways,
I follow these forums (XDA), since a good time now, (since I have my Xperia X1, got it nov 2008 to be exact, but I discovered XDA a little while later), and I read lots and lots of threads and posts everyday, I was there when CWM was born, I flashed tons of ROMs on my X1, WM6.1, WM6.5, Android since 2.1 I think, I had stopped all this for some times when I had much work to do for school and work etc. and I came back 3months ago with XPERIA P...
I followed and read almost every thread in here, and I'm sorry to announce that I find all this a bit Messy (not Lionel)...
I want the best Experience for my smartphone, and here I'll explain what's the "best" experience for me, and I wish you could tell me what's the best thing to do for it.
1) I love Xperia Stock UI, that's why I want stock XPERIAnce
2) I love smoothness, thats why I want a light ROM and good Kernel =)
3) I know that .54 FW is insanly buggy, so I'll certainly need some tweaks
so now that you've read my little story, I think I have all your attention so I can ask my questions, that's why I'll type them below:
1) What's the best ROM for me?
- I think about getting this one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069543) I want to know what you think about it, seems really good to me, but don't want to waste time flashing and reflashing, I used to do it with my old phone so now I just want to flash once and stay with My phone like it is all the time
2) What's the point of getting another than stock Kernel?
- I mean here that okay it can be smoother and have better battery or benchmarks, but tbh I don't really care of that all unless there's a big difference, so is it a real difference between stock kernel and Sliding or Thjap?
Yeah I know my question seem noobish and may have been asked many times, but I'm searching for someone who can make my wishes come true, or at least show me the way to do it by myself, because actually I learn computer science but all this is not what we learn at school, so I don't knwo where to start...
Now For all of you that didn't fall asleep while reading my story (could write a book lol it's so long) hit the thanks button (just to know if you reached the end of my post LOL, joke no need to do it)
Seriously for every person that reaches the end of my post, just feell free to help or teach me how to make my own ROMs, because yea there are tutorials and stuff, but it's always better to have someone showing you the first steps, it helps you keep focusing on it and not being bored,
I thank every guy here that can help me or just took the time to read my looong long post =)

1.) Only you can tell what's the best ROM for your phone. But for my Xperia P, I use BrainsROM. It has all the features I need for my smartphone. Battery does not drain that fast and overall performance is good.
2.) Hmmm. I am not that pro yet when it comes to kernels, but as I can see, there is a big difference using kernels from Sliding and Thjap from stock. You can see big improvements when it comes to overall performance. Most people use Stock ROM's combined with Modded Kernels.
Sorry for my bad english, english isn't my first language. :good: Hit the thanks button if my post helped you.
Your question regarding kernel
The kernels provided by thjap and deepunknown are more than just another stock kernel
pre rooted
Cwm integrated
Init.d support
Ooverclocked ( removed from deepunknown's kernel)
Some performance n battery tweaks
And a hell lot of new things
So Are there any cons over custom roms and kernels, like freeezes or reboots or phones stuck? Did you ever experience that ?

I have never experienced any reboots or freeZes on all custom roms that I have tried ( talking about those for unlocked bootloaders)
Most of the roms dun have any lag like our beloved stock rom
Regarding kernels - if its a test release... U cannot expect it to b highly stable...
Bt final releases are stable ( coz they r thoroughly tested by some testers including me
all credits to developers
Some have made it to 6 stable releases in xperia p section )
And you tell me that custom stable kernel is smoother and has better battery life than stock ? How come Sony engineers didn't make it better so ?

Yes it is bt I didnt said anything about battery yet
When I used miui it was superb
Bt battery life was not as much as I expected ( less than stock rom)
Sony engineers - no words for them
Coz they can port jb to xj bt not to xu and xsola... Thats pathetic engineering

[Request] Froyo Sense for HTC HERO

Hi All,
As you can see, our last dev (Kemoba) has left this forum.
He has done great job. So big thanks to him.
He unfortunately couldn't finish his last ROM which was hopefull for sense lovers.
This ROM is pretty awesome. It runs froyo+sense 2.1 and is very fast.
Unfortunately, it has two bugs : GPS and camera aren't working...
BUT : this ROM (Herolatte) was also running froyo+sense but was slow and kinda buggy.
So, my goal is to make a mix between those two ROMs and have a last working ROM for our Heroes.
I'm actually not a dev and can't do it by myself.
Why do I want this kind of ROM?
--> because many apps request at least foyo to get installed, and because Sense has many more functionnalities than AOSP.
I hope some people here will help on this project.
If you guys are going to do this, be my guest, get my rom, mod it and name it whatever you want, im gonna tell you my findings so far. Putting latte's libcamera, libcameraservice or any lib that has camera in it's name and hoping that it will work, well it wont why i have no idea probably some weird incompatibility. My advice: look at the kernel and HAL's. HAL's are in /system/lib/hw check them, try to find a hal that will fix the camera and work with stock/latte libs. Check the kernel's init.rc or something like that, look for any camera related stuff. Froyo camera and GPS was always a problem for our heros, and if you cant make it work with latte, get a rom from Droid Eris or HTC Magic Froyo, they are preety similar and i believe that we can nick some libs/hals of those roms and make a hell of a mix... If you make it work it's awsome, mention me as something or put up a link to my rom Again if you guys need anything im here, Im probably gonna be online at irc.freenode.net on #team-legacy channel...
Thanks for your advices, dude.
I'im gonna link some Eris and magic ROMs so if someone want to help, he doesn't have to search.
I promise : if we get it working, the ROM name would be "Kemoba's Legacy"

Just try to look at files kemoba mentioned and swap them.
I list some files:
- lib/modules: be sure you have the right files for the kernel
- lib/hw: take these files of a working froyo ROM for camera and gps
- etc/ : gps.conf. Take the file of a ROM with working gps
- lib/ : swap all files with lib...so (...= camera or gps) with the ones of a working ROM
If this doesn't work, try to search some other differences in the lib/ thread. There are some more general files that influence the camera and gps.

First of all, thanks for your answer.
Like I said, I'm no dev. Actually, I 've already tried playing with some libs, but i finally gave up because i'm too bad at this. I don't even know what you mean by "swap this file"
But if you're offering assistance, I accept it with pleasure.

To be precise, I think we should put Herolatte libs in Anthrax...
Herolatte libs wont work, i tried... Try to use some libs from eclair roms, i have a hunch that they might work, more specifically, beastsense since it has sense.... BTW, learning about android development isnt that hard...
OK, I'll give some more links of eclair+sense ROMs.
Edit :
Here are the links :
- Heroine
- BeastSense
Waiting for the rom . Hero has been forgot too long.
Don't expect this too much. Almost 700 views on this thread but still no help proposed.
All you need to fix it is mentioned. You know have to swap each file and flash the ROM. Does it work? It's fixed. Doesn't it work? Try other files and flash again. It will take a long time but that's the only way to be sure it works.
What happened with this project?
AW: [Request] Froyo Sense for HTC HERO
Will this Project support Multi language?!
I'm sure pirlouit has tried his best on this but he said himself that he is no dev. combine that with the fact that it seems there are no devs left for the hero (that actually own the phone) that could help then I wouldn't hold your breath on this.
if i could help pirlouit with this then i would but I'm no dev either. I have 0 experience in this kind of stuff, I wouldn't even know where to begin
If there are enough people that would like to use this ROM, I maybe could try. Find enough people and I'll see what I can do. Although I have no HTC Hero, the core should be the same for a Magic.
I should have a hero coming this week, I'm no dev, but I'll help you out as much as I can PowerPlop!

There is another guy (Derkz) who wants to help on the project. He PMd me to offer his help.
I hope that you guys will find a solution and finally get a full working ROM.
I switched to Desire X, but I still own my Hero. So if you want me to test, I'm available.
i see your rom screenshot and look like so good, it could be so nice for our htc hero..

[Q] Wich mod do you use on cm10?

Hello guys,
I've been looking for a good camera mod that allows me to improve the quality of my pictures and i found cybershot but is not supported on cm10 so i would like to ask if someone uses a good mod on these roms.
Maybe this question is inside another thread, but i think is good to have it like this if more people are like me.
Sorry my english and thank you for your time.

[Q] Google Camera port for Xiaomi mi8 lite

Hi there,
First thanks to all those who sharing their work like custom roms and other cool stuff we can find here for free.
Second it's been a really long time I haven't flashed any of my phone ( since I left my beloved galaxy s1!!!) So it's almost like if I was a fresh noob, so I apologize in advance if I say stupid thing or if I bother you with my questions
I was just wondering if there's any chance we see one day a port for mi8 lite platina of the famous Google camera from pixel phones.
I heard it made awesome photos and I be search the dedicated thread ( https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-port-hub/?nocache=1 ) but the mi8 lite is missing.
I guess it's partly due to the fact the community isn't as large as for the other phones? And maybe is it a technical problem?
Anyway if any of you heard about a work in progress on the matter I would grandly appreciate to know about it.
Last thing my phone is brand new ( 2 weeks old) so right I don't consider to make the warranty void any time soon. And maybe for that reason would it be impossible to get the Google camera app working...
Thanks for reading and replying to me ?
Even if I'm not an active member I really love this community all the amount of knowledge and of usefully stuff here is just amazing
Have a good day every1
Thanks. Same here. Tried APK's for Poco F1 and Mi 8, but didn't work. Looks like it's a different HW or API. Hope somebody will be able to work on that. Thanks
I'm using the google camera apk provided by apk mirror version 3.2.042 (it's very old) and works fine, with photo sphere and all. But the new apk's don't open.
The link for it is: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...042-2770680-40-android-apk-download/download/
