First. Post in QandA. Second. What?
It sounds like he tried to upgrade with our official ICS release and then afterwards also tried to use i9100 firmware. But that's a guess. I can't understand wtf he's actually trying to ask. That's IT. I'm gonna start trolling the Chinese forums with Google translate and apologize about how bad my Chinese is lol

LOL...
As far as the OP goes, my interpretation is that his phone turns off every time he connects his usb cable. He tried flashing a 777 rom from this forum but it did not help. He then flashed a 9100 rom which did help the original problem, but obviously caused other problems to appear because, well, it it's not a 777 rom.
But I'm half guessing here...

No way that's Google Translate. Translate does a better job with grammar and syntax. Maybe translate OP's post to Chinese then the Chinese back to English might help?

I actually have this issue. Plug in a charger or any usb connection and 9 times out of 10 the phone will turn off. Turn on the phone whole charging and it will randomly crash back to the charge animation - which sometimes doesn't even work correctly.
Happened when I was stock and still does stock 2.3.4 rooted.

Mine does this if I have a generic extra battery installed, but not if I have the oem battery in.

habing this issue also, phone was working OK , then someone tried to update to 4.1.2, after the update the phone will shutdown after ou connect a cable.
I downgraded to ICS 4.0.4, but still the same issue.
and YES, when you insert an OEM battery the phone will work well.
any idea how to fix this other than buying an oem battery?

The battery doesn't necessarily have to be oem, but it must be near field communication (nfc). If I remember correctly, GT-I9100 batteries often don't work well in the I777.
Where are you located?
HI, I am from Cuba, Latinamerica.
SO, is not there any solution to make the phone work with any battery?
because it was working with any battery before they flashed ICS, so...
maybe a Kernel will solve this ?
and the i777 is NFC capable?

Perhaps try this battery. It's a 3rd party one, and while it isn't 22000mAh as advertised (more like stock 1650mAh) it is the only non-OEM battery that has worked perfectly for me. Can't speak to the NFC capabilities, as I never used it effectively with even the i777 original battery, but in terms of everyday use and stability this cheap battery has worked great for a long time.
Are you unable to order by mail into Cuba from the US?
Installing a custom kernel may solve the issue. I'm not sure. If you are now on 4.0.4, then I don't think there is a custom kernel available at this time, but I may be wrong. If you are on 4.1.2, you could install the AJK v4.9 No-Swap kernel. Be sure to use the No Swap version on stock Jelly Bean though.
I'll be gone for a few days, but if you need help, I think Steve will be around.
Cant order from Cuba, thats what emabrgo was made for
I will flash custom rom and custom kernel and will se what happens.
any suggestion?
There are plenty of Jelly Bean roms (4.1.2) to choose from for the i777. If you're wanting a stock+ experience then SHOstock is s great choice. Others like Slim, Carbon, CM are also available.
If you're on stock ICS, however, you'll need to flash the custom kernel > reboot recovery > flash rom/gapps. If you run into trouble with that method then use creepy's guide for flashing stock via Odin and you'll be fine - you can find that in his signature. Let me know if you have any questions.

Firstly.. do you have a X10i?
If you do
Then flash the stock rom.
Flash BB.67
Then flash Wolf breaks rom once it's started up crash the server and reboot a few times.
Then flash the TW 007 patch for WB's rom.
Here is the link to the thread that has this fw:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936733
also i have posted my impressions on this fw on another thread, however i am copy pasting them again here, no prob:
I got it yesterday from xda and to be honest I was not sure whether to update or not, cause of the loss of apps and settings (I have to do them all over again cause I don’t like to back up stuff). I prefer to start fresh when I update. Anyways, to get to the point, the update at first did not seem any different, however after using it for a day it gives the phone a GREATLY improved interface. What I’ve noticed so far:
1. Touch screen is more responsive and the scrolling is smoother (I use launcherPro). I have also tried games like Fruit Ninja, Cut the Rope and Can Knockout 2 and there is a great improve on the touch response without lags or delays. In addition, touch seems more precise.
2. When I wake up the phone and unlock it it does not lag like it did in the previous firmware (.435)
3. Apps and in general everything I tap to open responds faster and has an animation (Not sure if that was from before, I noticed now)
4. I have noticed that the media volume is way higher, I hope I am not mistaken but to me it seems really higher than before. Not sure about the in-call volume though, I cannot really tell any difference, at least not a major one.
5. There is a difference into battery life definitely. I use ATK(Advanced task killer), Autokill set to Screen Off and Security level to Medium. After the upgrade the battery seems to drain slower. However, I cannot tell since I am using the phone for only one day, but i can say that after an normal use of the phone during the day, with several calls, gaming etc. my battery now is down to 73%
That is all i’ve noticed so far. I am not a tester, just a simple user. I have not run any benchmark or similar tests on the phone. I am posting this for the simple users that want to know what to expect from this upgrade.
P.S.: I have removed junk appks and enabled JIT right from the beggining of usage. I figured if I do it before actually use the phone it would reduce the chance for those apps to collect information and save it on the phone, thus improve maybe a bit the speed and space.

Technically this update is regional, not global, so there could be battery and signal issues if it is not designed for your region. Not enough senior USA X10a members have reported their results trying this German firmware on X10A yet. Try it, if you have trouble flash back, and report back on xda.
Works fine southeast North America x10a

Hi,
Good day to everyone.
Could you help out with a unit I bought which is a S2 SHW-M250K? I'm a residence in the Philippines but unfortunately the device is limited in certain features. Like creating a SMS is limited to 90 characters and thus prompts MMS not available. Upon the call feature, is always goes to autoroaming. Its really annoying and a hassle for me.
Is there a way I could totally reformat the whole system and install a new one that is compatible here in the Philippines or like the standard look of a S2 l9100?
If there is, could you give a step-by-step procedure cause I really don't know the "how-to" with phones, flash ROM or anything that pertains to his matter.
Hope for a assistance.
Thanks.
Jan from the Philippines
i have the same phone in the same country and i don't have either of your issues. the reason is because i flashed a stock i9100 rom to my shw m250k so now it's basically an i9100 phones with an antenna but doesn't have an fm radio. anyway, if you haven't tried flashing before i suggest you read up on some guides. there are some here and more can be found on google. i don't want to give you one myself in case your phone somehow gets bricked (almost impossible though) btw the rom i'm using is the european kg6 one. no issues at all
OT: since we have the same unit, i want to know how long your battery lasts. mine just barely touches 12hrs before it's completely drained, i don't know if it's an isolated case or if all m250k's are the same. i'm using a replacement 1800mah battery though, so that might be the reason. i just don't want to spend money on an original one yet just to find out it's the same story.
hi fyre31,
GREAT!!!! Really appreciate your technical advice on this predicament. Though I don't the "how-to's" on flashing or rooting on this device.
Haven't tried the unit yet but if ever I flashed it I'll give you a feedback on the battery thing.
Thanks again.
Jan

hmm guess i'm gonna have to get myself an original samsung battery then. thanks for sharing

You have no idea, this post of yours is my savior! I tried different roms and they caused my phone to have a boot loop. Now I have Lite'ning Rom v6.1 and it's rooted and has a custom rom without the bloatware in one go. Loving it so far!
For those who need help, these are the steps I followed (don't blame me if something goes awry on your phone though...)
Follow the steps here: http://www.inspiredgeek.com/2011/04...ng-odin-and-superoneclick-step-by-step-guide/
Except! After Step 2, press the volume up button. And then On step 5, instead of the "XWKDD_insecure.tar", replace it with the latest Rom you can download in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274.
By the way, if it wasn't obvious, I have the same predicament as everyone else. I bought the phone before it was officially released in the Philippines, and it was imported from Korea. My phone has an antenna... and it serves nothing other than make my friends laugh because it makes the phone look like some cheap brand, haha My version had M250K before I installed the custom rom.
So I've noticed that there are ICS roms and I've got a few question:
1. Are they stable?
2. How is their battery life?
3. Is it worth installing them over cyanogenmod?
4. Are they real ICS or is it a kind of launcher?
Thanks for those of u who'll answer.
1. Experimental!
2. Better than Stock.
3. Depends if you want to try ICS or not.
4. Real ICS

1 - Yes, using Westcrip's v6 as a daily driver (used Wanam's and Westcrip's v5 before without any issues after install)
2 - varies. I've had 100% to empty in 12 hours, but was playing lot. On the flipside had over 24h+ out of it too
3 - Personal opinion, I'm not a CM fan.
4 - Real ICS.

basically, the start bit (which is normally a letter) tells you which month it was developed in so in this case L is the latest month. So LP2 is the latest firmware. KP whatever is last month.
Personally im waiting it out until theres a nice stable Samsung one with a AOSP theme.
I saw that each one has a different base firmware and modem version. Should I look out for something specific?
Which one should I download/ how do I know which one i need?

As they are still experimental you need to make sure to read up fully first, as otherwise you might soft or hard brick your phone if you follow the wrong instructions.
This thread has firmware and instructions if you want the stock samsung leaks
Otherwise chose your rom and follow there instructions, also dont put a pit in and repartition unless it really wont work as a bad flash with pit/repartition is a one way trip to bricktown.
IMHO,
Currently there are 2 flavors just as with Gingerbread
CM9/AOSP/etc... & Stock.
Stock:
Fully functional (all features work).
Performance vary with FCs and slow response.
CM9:
Daily functional. (Phone/Data/Audio/Graphics)
But video/camera/fm radio and other features are missing until a proper source will be released.
Performance pretty reliable. no major crashes.
Battery on both seems to be from my experience worse than good GB rom. I believe due to baseband issues (I've noticed battery killing when I'm in a low reception area) and debugging code.
Still to me for example CM9 is daily cause the dialer, web browsing and main features works very well and phone is super responsive.
I previously used ICS for SGS I and it vas pretty good, I liked it alot. No issues at all. Now using SGS II, I'm still in CM7, still waiting for good ICS release.
One question: how to flash back from ICS? Old SGS needed reflashing twice, how in SGSII?

New test leak releases will keep coming. As jj mentioned, try it only if you are sure with it.
I found CM9 to be much better and in fact used it as a daily for 2 weeks. For some reason I had home, power button issues with the samsung leaked roms.

Using the newly leaked LP2 rom as of today and it seems pretty good. Some things im not as happy with are:
Random occurances happen on the deskop
Browser doesnt seem to autofit the text/pages like it used to on the web browsers, including dolphin hd (might be user error i dont know)
All power button functions, etc seem to be working.
Im using the Nova launcher with proper ICS icons, if i could make a screenshot id post it:/ It still doesnt look as niec and well rounded as per the nexus implementation of ICS.
hi guys
couple of questions:
i have a XEUK firmware on 2.3.4 at the moment, unbranded, unlocked and rooted and phone notified me that there's an upgrade available:
- will the upgrade work via wireless from the about menu straight away or i need to go via kies?
- apps, contacts, photos and videos are gonna be deleted?
- root, will that stay or i will have to do it again?
- camera, is the white balance improved when using flash with ICS? right now colors act up with the flash, thats a known bug..
that being said, my phone runs great so i am wondering if is worth or not to upgrade, i dont care of having the very very latest release...
for who will answer these few questions, thanks in advance!

1. I believe you do need Kies, I wasn't able to update my phone without it.
2. No, however I strongly recommend you to backup the phone, just in case.
3. You will have to root again.
4. Not sure about this one, sorry.
Honestly, I was extremely disappointed after update because, although everything worked just fine, the phone became a little laggy and I wasn't able to change screen DPI (I bricked my phone twice as well).

No you didnt, unless you fixed it via JTAG.
Screwing up while flashing resulting in rom not booting isnt "bricking" unless you cant enter download mode or recovery.

Okay, I got a bootloop twice. The point is, it hasn't been very stable for me lately.
That too... Stable means the thing runs without any issues and Ics do run without issues, you fiddled with it than say thing is not stable is also wrong.

There is no such thing as "semibricked", Its either bricked or it isnt, simple as that. Screwing up your flash which results in rom not booting as normal is not "bricked" or "semibricked". Its only bricked when it wont boot into rom, download or recovery and only option is hardware recovery like for example when you wipe/corrupt your bootloader.
i forgot to ask one thing... how is the battery with ICS? at the moment my phone does 1 full day with heavy usage and 2 days with moderate/medium usage...

So, i have a SGS3 on Vodafone uk,
4.1.2 Official,
Rooted the phone using ODIN and CF-AUTO ROOT
All was Fine.
Downloaded ROM manage from Play store,
downloaded CM9 through this as didnt have premium version for cm10 (Before discovering i could get 10 online anway..)
Held volume, power and menu keys to go to download mode,
backed up, with clockwork,
installed CM9, and now my phone wont boot, just shows the CM loading screen until the end of time, or atleast my patience...
tried to hold the 3 keys again, takes me back to download mode after pushing volume up to accept, but cant do anything further (or atleast i cant with my current knowledge)
what can i do to get my phone working again, and install CM10 successfully?
any help is much appreciated,
i watched the Vid before registering to ask for help and yes.... i am a noob at this.
Did you wipe your phone first? You didn't mention it but you should have done

Hey, i have my phone working now, i hadnt wiped it and it wasnt working, i had to go into Recovery, and not download mode, didnt know this,
i wiped my data/cache and now the phone is working, have had a crash today with the phone, and it wouldnt boot, went and recovered and now its working fine, except it charges slow as hell and actually DECHARGES when its plugged into a CHARGER :/, apart from that CM9 is working fine and fast.
i do however want to put CM10 on it, but not sure how to do that without using ROM Manager which i have to pay for, to have the priveledge of getting CM10 through it, i have downloaded CM10 on my pc, but how do i flash it onto my phone, i have Odin atm,
Also, accidently wiped my Back up of Android 4.1.2 Official, but now i have a back up of CM9 on my sd card anyway soo...
any help much appreciated, im tech savvy, but this is my first time really delving into the area of android modification.
Thanks.
flashing CM9 is a fail in itself

why is it a fail? its working, and its stable.
not really much help, commenting with pointless remarks.
Stable is just a word and when you are dealing with Exynos devices it will never reach the status of 100% stable where everything works (except the Galaxy S I9000 with the hummingbird processor).
Then next thing is Sudden Death Syndrome from which ICS isn`t protected from.
Trust me you are better off with Jelly Bean. By now CM10.1 is easy daily driver material.
All ics roms are potentially unsafe if you have a 16GB 9300

No. You need to rephrase that or re word it. First generation Galaxy S line. Everything works on all AOSP ROMs. Its an Exynos chip. MHL, camera, battery life, no glitches, it all works. Sources are there though.

The Galaxy S I9000 had the hummingbird processor which also was inside the Nexus S and that`s why for this particular case developers were so successful in making everything work because they had the source code thanks to the Nexus S.
No such luck for the S2 and the S3
Correct me someone if I'm wrong but that`s how I remember it.
That's correct, but the Hummingbird is its old name, its now the Exynos 3. It is an Exynos chip. The Nexus S was why it had the source code released. None the less, its Exynos and everything works on AOSP

Ok if you put it that way sure, I rephrased my earlier post :good:
Ok... so is it worth Flashing CM10 or not? or is there a better more stable ROM in any off your opinions, being that i have wiped the Stock..
We can't tell you what is better as its subjective and against the rules but yes cm 10 is worth trying
