Did you do a full wipe when installing? Have you tried wiping cache and dalvik and fixing permissions from recovery?

Yes, that means wiping /system, /data, /cache, /dalvik-cache, and fixing permissions in recovery.
Or better yet, download Th3Bill's Full Wipe .zip from jokers website.

I think Acvice means to select full wipe option inside aroma installer. if you do a full wipe before flashing a rom with an aroma installer it will fail because it needs a working rom as a base.

Your right, my bad... But if he was installing a new rom without Aroma; He would want to do what I mentioned.

That is what i meant. But to my knowledge, you 'can' do a full wipe before Aroma, but during the install process you would need to use the volume buttons to select options as the touchscreen won't work. It's just kindof redundant as you get the option to do a full wipe within Aroma anyway.

Switching from CN to CM9
I am running CN ICS v3 and want to flash CM9 A2. Can I just wipe dalvik, cache and factory reset and flash the zip from CWM or do I have to do a complete uninstall and then install because of the different kernals? Thanks

I think you can just CWM the new CM9 A2 over your current ICS install. It will overwrite your current kernel.
Just make sure you do full wipe, cache and Dalvik cache wipe before you do the flash within CWM.
I just flashed mine from CM9 A.6 and so far so good... Have not tested the Netflix but it seems nice so far and no SODs for the last 4 hours since the flash... I hope never but will see...

Did you have Classicnerd loaded? I heard that if you don't do an uninstall it will leave parts of the kernal. I was hoping to do a very good wipe, wipe, wipe and wipe... and wipe some more. Or I can wait for CN to catch up. I do like Leo and the gang.
Thanks for your help.

I just did
Wipe factory data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache each twice. Reboot. Wipe again. Then flash
Do not restore data inky case, YouTube does not work when I tried to restore from CWM. Restore from TB selectively.
Sound seems to be broken. I get no sound from keyboard and the volume rocker cannot control volume. The volume is either mute or maximum.

Never mind, a reboot fix the sound problem.

Do a full wipe then flash uImage remover zip found on classic nerd site, under ics betas folder, then flash cm9 and gapps.
That is exactly what I did and it works great. I wiped three time of each Dalvik, cache and factory reset, flashed the moboot kernal remover, flashed CM9 v2, gapps and rebooted. Went very smooth. From what I understand is that if you don't get rid if the old kernals and you flash over them they cause problems and that is why you flash the moboot kernal remover.
After I logged in I used TB to reinstall my apps and all is well. Very well. The CM team did an outstanding job.
Thank you all for your advice.

[Q] HP touchpad CM9 nightly issues

i am using the Goo.im app from the playstore to download the nightly builds directly to my touchpad, i then use TWRP to install. for some reason though, i can't install any of the previous nightly builds, it always says that the installation failed. will someone explain to me how to install nightly builds over top of the first nightly build i downloaded?
Have you tried performing a full wipe before installation? Sounds like the files may be corrupted as well.

Within ClockworkMod select "Wipe data and Cache" then go to "Advanced" and select "Wipe davlik cache". That should do it for you.
Then when you want to install a new nightly make sure that you wipe the davlik cache again before flashing the newer nightly. Don't wipe the data or cache because then it won't retain all your apps and data. Either way before you install a new ROM make sure you take a nandroid backup that way if something went wrong you can return everything back to normal.

I've wiped that, and still no luck. It always fails.

Not sure if you want to go this route but you can make backups of anything important on your TP and wipe your SD card and per form the full wipe 3 times then download the rom/gapps of your choice and move them to your tp using usb mass storage mode in CWM and then try flashing and see what happens.
Hopefully you can get this sorted out, let us know if you need any more help.

Can you explain that a little more clearly? Also, is it possible to do this with TWRP? If so, please help.
It wouldnt hurt to check the md5 sum to make sure the rom isnt a bad dl.
To wipe on twrp, click on the wipe button and it will take you to a screen where you can wipe things.

i have done wipes each time. Also, i have dl from two different sources and still no luck.. any other ideas?
twrp is fail. go back to CWMrecovery, and if it doesnt work with the zips you downloaded with the goomanager app, then download the nightly manually from the goo.im site and try that.
The problem with going back to CWM is the fact i never had CMW recovery installed... like i put the zip on my touchpad and all, but it was never installed. at least i think i put it on there...

The not wiping anything part is probably your problem. You should always at least wipe cache and dalvik. Data and system can stay intact. Make sure you downloaded the right version aswell. (Cdma/gsm) wipe those and try again. If that doesn't work, perhaps try those fixes youre refering to and if that doesn't work, full wipe.

Which rom are you referring to? cm10 is his latest i believe? Is your photon unlocked & rooted? What Recovery did you flash? (joker has A CWM specially made for his roms) Unless you are upgrading a rom to a newer version of it, or you are using aroma installer, it is always important to wipe your phone prior to flashing. Im a wee bit OCD about it, so i
1) Wipe data/factory reset
2) Wipe Cache Partition
3) Format System
4) Format Data
5) Format Cache
6) Wipe Dalvic Cache
Then begin flashing. For safe measures always flash your rom twice to ensure it has been properly flashed
*edit*
Did you flash from a stock rom? If so, which gingerbread version was it running? and did you ensure to update it before you flashed?

[Q] Steps to flash FXP CM10 ROM.

HOWTO
Install instructions:
1. Install a Recovery (there are some around this forum)
2. Flash Rom
3. Flash gapps
4. Wipe (only required 1st time)
5. Flash kernel (fastboot flash boot boot.img)

Hope I'm not making a fool out of myself..
But, why are the instructions in that order?
The normal way to go is:
Flash kernel > factory/cache partition/system/dalvik cache wipe > Install the ROM > Install any .zip (fixes, addons, apps) > Reboot.
Is there any specific reason why the steps mentioned by the OP are in this order?
Thank you!

Not too sure, I have a slight feeling they messed up when writing it all down. But kernel is always first. After kernel dont boot the rom, just power on and head to recovery. Full wipe, format system, install rom, install gapps, full wipe and wipe dalvik cache, then reboot and watch the magic.

It doesn't matter, if you have recovery in previous ROM you can flash new ROM first in old reco and then flash kernel in fastboot.
May be the answer lies in here..

Ok problem solved..
build.prop error means I have to use a Kernel that doesn't verify name in build.prop..
So I tried expeacer's MIUI Kernel(Extended stock kernel) and I was able to install CM10..
This info was courtesy of metalrawk
This could possibly be the reason why FXP instructed to flash the Kernel after ROM installation

[Q] what does "data wiping option in AROMA" mean??

sorry if it is newbie question..
as i am quite unsatisfied with battery life of pardus hd rom,,thinking of installing android revolution hd.
in installation instruction i saw "data wiping option in AROMA"
what does it mean?? how can i do that? please tell me..(android revolution hd: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797334)
thanx in advance..
when flashing the rom, choose the data wiping option in the installer
Aroma is an installation wizard tailor made by the developer for each rom. If the instructions for a rom say "wipe data in aroma" they have obviously created an option in aroma for you to wipe data.

If a rom has aroma, it comes up after you chose to flash the zip via recovery. See it as an interactive install from recovery. Just flash zips in the usual way. If its aroma, it will pop up

so many terms. finally got it after searching and found this thread.
To all in the thread, is it correct to assume that if you wipe data in AROMA then you do not have to worry about firmware updates and MID/CID matching?
I am going to flash a custom ROM (which has AROMA option) on my HTC One via custom recovery (not via hboot/bootloader) so I assume I am in the clear from any risks of bricking??
For reference, I am a slightly above average newbie
You are in the wrong forum to ask questions about HTC, i9300 is totally different so no, you could brick it.
