Is anyone else Having problems getting N64oid onto their vibrant? I search the market on my phone and it doesnt even come up. When i search it on my laptop at the android markets it finds it just fine, but i cant get it couse it says my device is unsupported.
However i keep seeing new reviews which leads me to think it still works and some of the reviews are coming from fellow vibrant users. Could someone see if they can
A) Find the app on your phone through the marketplace
B) Is it supported?
i emailed the dev on it, hopefully he'll get back to me soon. But if anyone else has any answers or your having the same problem... just let me know =D
thanks!
Once this is working i will start posting ROMS that work, how well they work. I owned alot of N64 games so i'll at lest post about those. If you have it working and would like to post what works and what doesnt I'll keep this first post up to date with your guys' input. =D Thanks guys again!
That's weird, n64oid shows up fine for me. Maybe its the rom you're using?
Anyways, heres what's working:
Full speed with sound:
1. Super Mario 64
2. F-Zero
3. Pokemon Stadium 2 (w/2d glitches)
4. Super Smash Bros
5. Mario Kart
6. Wave Race
7. Banjo Kazooie
8. Diddy Kong Racing
Full speed without sound:
1. Goldeneye
2. Pokemon Stadium 1
3. Zelda Majoras Mask
4. Zelda OOT (crashes frequently)
Unplayable:
1. Perfect Dark
2. DK64
3. Conkers Bad Fur Day (noooo!!)
4. Hydro Thunder
5. All Mario Partys (graphical strobe effect)
6. Paper Mario
...the rest
What ROM are you running?
It's working fine for me
that actually might be it. Im running launcher Pro, rooted with the lag fix. I'll turn that off and see if it works.
*EDIT*
Ok, i just turned it off and im still not seeing n64oid in the marketplace. I can still see it on my laptop but its still saying unsupported device. I am on android 2.1 this isnt a 2.2 only thing is it?

ROM Gripper ++ seems to have the largest selection for an app on your phone. Just make sure you own original copies of the games you're downloading.

It says in rom gripper++ that some emulators don't show up in the market for some countries so this could be why.

You need to upgrade to 2.2
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
but then my lagfix wont work =( and before the lagfix i score around 860 and after im getting 2270. Even with 2.2 i was getting 870... i dont want 2.2 if i cant have the lagfix.
Dude... Lagfixes are included in damn near every rom here. Your quadrant score is a very superficial number like how many freckles one has. It all comes down to how smooth the UI is and I can assure you they all are very smooth and each is very unique in its own way. Do you want the ability to show your friends a high quadrant score? Or would you rather show them Wave Race 64 or any game you own 64 wise. I use this quite a bit and people in my area are more prone to be blown away with high end mobile nostalgia than a static screen . Take the plunge for flash alone at the least.
i know, but when i dont have my lag fix on my phone is stupid slow. Like, scrolling through my apps is glitchy and lame till i have the lag fix on.
Im using the vibrant toolbox to root my phone and then i put on ryanZA's OCLF lagfix.
is there a better one/way to speed up the phone?

Yes. Voodoo. The Overstock kernel is also VERY smooth. I don't even remember what my phone was like.before Voodoo.
Really if you've already rooted, there's no reason you shouldn't go ahead and upgrade to 2.2. Voodoo is a far better lagfix, and if you get a kernel like Overstock that supports it, you can have awesome enhancements like Voodoo Sound and Color, and BLN (let's you use your touch keys as an LED notification, blinking and all).
i actually remember why i went back to 2.1
i had just upgraded to 2.2 and that night my phone almost commited suicde. It was on my desk all by its self, nothing on it, under it or around it. It kept buzzing at me at like 3am till i finally got out of bed to see what was up.
It was SCREAMING hot and the screen had a flashing thermameder on it. It was all plugged in fine no problems... i of course unplugged it for the rest of the night. But yah...
so i just put 2.2 back on my phone. I turned off the lag fix, uninstalled the program, turned off launcher pro and uninstalled it then unrooted my phone and did the upgrade with kies mini... got done installing and rebooted and now my phone is just sitting here going buzz.......buzz.......buzz buzz...... in about 1 minute intervals on an off screen...
**EDIT**
opp got it. I Went into clockwork and reset everything then rebooted and its up. But anywho, has anyone elses phones tried to commit suicide while they were sleeping?
PS- holy crap this phone is really laggy now that i have it all "normal" ... =( strange how use to stuff you get huh...
so should i root first, put on OverStock and then apply voodoo?
First of all, stop caring about quadrant scores. Smartbench is where its at. Quadrant scores are incredibly inaccurate and easy to fool, not to mention heavily pro-htc.
Edit:
Anyways, for your lag problem, try installing a reliable custom rom like bionix-v or trigger, their stock kernels also come preinstalled with voodoo.

Smartbench, i'll remember that. =D Thanks for the heads up so i dont look as stupid in the future ;P
EDIT
Can i get a quick link to those Overstock and Voodoo, says search is disabled try again in a few minutes. I can just flash that rom onto my phone with the vibrant toolbox right?
EDIT again...
I just tried rooting my phone and it saying it failed to install the packages... =P I think between my phone almost cooking to death and not being able to root is why i went back to 2.1..... im using vibrant toolbox.
Overstock is on page one of the android development section. Don't worry so much on a separate link to Voodoo just read the OP's of a rom that you will settle on found also in the android development section. Listed there they will tell if the rom already has Voodoo injected also if it comes activated upon flashing or needing to go to recovery and initiating. Over 3/4 have voodoo in them have fun. I've never used tool box but all of the flashing for me is done through recovery.
Did you use this root? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723479

Same here! It was fine for a while after I disabled the ripple effect. But starts slowing down again. Its one of the main reasons I keep getting back to android. WebOS has nice interface.

Wi fi is not perfect on cm7 but is working well enough to not have to use web os. You are missing out since Android is working great even in an alpha stage. There is no reason to not give it a try since there is no risk in doing so.
HTC Vision(G2)/meXdroidmod
Ghost Chili AIO
No problems on WebOS keyboard; I kind of like it better than the stock android keyboards.
As for CM7 Android, it's definitely still an alpha product; it is great if you don't have any problems, but if you do, you are just out of luck. I had no problems with Alpha 2 with Xron's great package 1.37, but alpha 3 with Xron's 3.3 package gives me wifi nightmares. I've seen a few posts with problems like mine - the wifi has to be re-enabled after every boot - also, my wifi drops the connection after 3 or 4 minutes. Kills me because otherwise it is so great. I'd recommend trying it - maybe you'll be like most people and won't have any of the wifi problems.
iirc the breif reading i did so far its a dual boot? so i dont really lose webos at all and can boot into either OS?

Correct. You do not lose web os if you install cm7. That is the beauty of the touchpad. Two operating systems available in one tablet. You have a choice on which to use on demand.

One of the things I like about the webOS keyboard is the accuracy of it, but there is indeed some lag when typing in some forms.
Also, Shift + Enter actually works on the webOS keyboard unlike all Android soft keyboards it's useful for the facebook site or entering a new line
And the webOS browser renders full pages better than most Android browsers as well
I've noticed that android keyboard works ligtyears better for me and typing and zero lag.
Typing seems good for me on WebOS. Sometimes taps seem a little off, but I'm not sure if it's me or not. Anywho, you may want to check out some of the patches in preware. There are some to address scrolling speed and you can disable the ripple effect on clicks.
Personally, I really like WebOS and haven't bothered with the CM7 alpha's yet (I do have two other Android devices in the house though -- one a Nook running CM7, so I know what's out there).
Help a noob out? I have a virgin DX2 - never rooted - freshly updated to 2.3.5 (was in the soak) - and I'm finally ready to root it and try out a ROM. I've been lurking here for a week or so reading & trying to learn all I can about the process - and I think I'm ready to give it a shot.
Obviously Step 1 is to SBF back to 2.3.4 so I can get rooted, but after that is where I'm running into some indecision. I can't decide if I want to go straight to CM7 from there - or follow the instructions to keep root, SBF back to 2.3.5 and install Eclipse 2.2.
I know both ROMs have their loyal followers and I'm sure either would be a big improvement over stock Blur... and I know it's easy enough to try BOTH of them once I get the hang of all this... but I'd still appreciate some advice about which to try first.
For those of you who've tried both, which do you prefer? What are the pros & cons of each?
Thanks!

Seems to center around Eclipse and CM7 mostly. Eclipse can be a bit more polished in my estimation, mostly due to HDMI, FM radio, less buggy, you know, all the bells and whistles working. For the most part, either way you go you'll be fine.
Currently I have myself and my wife on CM7, we both like it. No real issues to speak of.
I personally perfer CM7RC1 its a solid daily driver very minor issues and I never get bored with it. Here's my overview of both ROMs.
CM7RC1
Pros:
Extremely Smooth.
Lots Of Mods/Tweaks.
Endless Customization.
Gingerbread 2.37
Theme Engine.
Wifi Tethering
Fully AOSP.
Toggles.
Cons:
HDMI Mirroring Is Unsupported.
FM Radio Is Unsupported.
Bugs:
Data Triangle. (Fixed By Reboot, *228)
Battery Exclamation. (Fixed By Reboot)
Some Experience Wifi Connecting Issues. (Fixed By Manual Connect)
Eclipse 2.2
Very Smooth.
Few Mods/Tweaks.
Limited Customization.
Gingerbread 2.35.
Flashable Themes.
AOSP/BLUR Hybrid.
Toggles.
Cons:
Lack Of Customization.
Is Only Gingerbread 2.35.
No Tethering.
Bugs:
Some Experience Wifi Resetting. (No Fix ATM)

I have tried out every x2 rom under the sun and as of right now I think your best bet is cm7. I would recommend running the cm7 mash up script, along with the dual core script, because with both of these the res is flawless.
but of course, I think you should try both of them out because it is personal preference. And if we get cm9 here soon then we will all be happy little cracked out, flashed up, ics'd whores with everything we can dream of for the x2, with some extra feta cheese.

This is a fair evaluation of both ROMs but really it all boils down to personal preference and things like if you need HDMI and stuff like that...I personally never use HDMI or the FM radio...but still liked eclipse and that's what I have on my wife's phone albeit its 2.1...I am sure when CM9 comes out she will like to try it...in short flash them both run them for a week or so and see which one you like and go from there

Just a caution on CM7; I haven't tried the latest release but on the first release the camcorder continuous auto-focus didn't function. It seemed to focus once when you press the shutter button and remain fixed, and sometimes that focus was in error itself. Not a lot of people seem to care about that but my phone has the heavy responsibility of archiving my sons' most important memories for them to look back on when they are older, so I just went back to stock rom. Other than that, CM7 seemed great.
I use CM7RC1 Dual Core Script, Build Prop Mashup, 8 Touch Point Mod, Cron Scheduler, Beats Audio, 3 CDMA Mods. My phone is blazing fast!
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium
In my experience the beats audio hack ruined my sound quality. Also the dual core script......Our 2nd core boots up automatically when there's a demand for more memory. Dragonzkiller even stated this is the dual core script thread. Keeping both on at all times pretty much only drains your battery faster. Only difference I noticed with it was the home screen animations were a little snappier. Wasn't enough change in performance for the lack of battery IMHO. Just a few things if you go the CM7 route. Never tried Eclipse so I can't help you there.

Why do these keep popping up...the search bar is definitely not be used...
Anyways...Eclipse is literally a hair slower than cm7 but it is worlds more stable. Wifi on Eclipse far better than cm7's. Cm7 has some SU issues but they can be fixed by installing Super SU from the market and getting rid of the normal SU app.
Tethering is easier on cm7 is strong -- heat is something you'll have to worry about. I've tethered on Eclipse through the use of a Market app so a little more work must be done there.
Downside to Eclipse is that you must go to 2.3.5 to use it whereas Cm7 is 2.3.4. Battery life on Eclipse is better for me. I've had serious computer trouble this past month and have had to do some research for papers on my phone! With the brightness on full, Gmusic/Pandora/power amp going and internet on my battery would last ~6-9 hours.
I should also mention that I have the Second Core Script going and my battery life took a very small. Not backbreaking but noticeable.
Not going to lie ; your phone will heat up slightly more regardless of the rom you're on when you use the script
Personally I enjoy Eclipse much more than cm7. Blue is my favorite color
Come over to the dark side...
Hmm haven't ran into any sound issues yet. As far as the dual core script I understand the core will activate on demand. The thing is this only happens when the CPU becomes so over tasked by processes it create a short lag before kicking in. This script makes that laggy transition disappear. I would only recommend this script for people with the extended battery like me tho.

Obviously, lol... no "lag" or time needed to boot because its already always on...
Did you use the script editor in ROM toolbox to apply it, sealedfate? If so do you check apply on boot, or do you only use it when you see fit?

If you have a X2 now I would say you have to try them both. Run one for a couple of weeks do a nano back up and then try the other for a couple of weeks. Then you can decide which you like better. Or you can do like I did and just keep going back and forth every few weeks because you love them both
I have the script in system/ect/init.d so it applies on boot. Helps a hell of a lot with 3D games.

Actually, like I said in my first post, I'm been doing nothing but searching and reading on here for the past week or so. Eclipse 2.2 just dropped a week ago, so I was looking for fresh opinions from people who had tried CM7 and that version specifically.
I appreciate all the helpful comments from everyone though. I think I'll do like a few of you suggested and try them both eventually... starting with CM7.
Hopefully we can all add CM9 to the list of ROMs to try very soon!

Yep! I've been following his Twitter feed and the "CM9DX2 anticipation" thread on here. Can't wait to see how it goes. Sounds like he's REAL close!
Success! Following Moon Shadow's instructions to the letter, I successfully SBF'd back to 2.3.4, rooted, and installed CM7 without any problems whatsoever. CM7 is up and running! Just need to get my apps reinstalled and I'll be good to go. Man... you guys weren't kidding. The phone is SOOOO much faster/smoother now, it's not even funny. Should have done this a long time ago.
Thanks everyone!
OK, it appears that I spoke too soon. I realized soon after that the Google apps did not get loaded on my phone (Gmail, Maps, Nav, YouTube, etc.), but some of the other apps in that same ZIP file DID get installed (Talk). Also, my old background pic was still on the phone.
I was able to download/install the missing Google apps without any problem and they all work perfectly (including Nav from the car dock) - and everything else has been running flawlessly. The phone is very fast & smooth... no bugs... not a single force close or reboot yet after fairly heavy use for the last couple of days.
So... obviously something didn't go perfectly with my install, but as far as I can tell, everything is fine with the phone. How can I tell if I'm missing anything else? Should I just keep what I have or SBF back to 2.3.4 and start over again? I'm perfectly happy with it right now - but maybe I don't know what I'm missing.

Not sure how anyone might be able to tell you what you might be missing on your phone. It is pretty basic what you get, not a lot of bells and whistles put in by default.
Not aware of a comprehensive list of what you should have exactly.

Hello Guys! I have another great fix, this time I figured out how to play Nova 3 with the full graphic effects on, and better yet, with no noticeable lag!! See my 4 simple steps below and enjoy Nova on the Primes the way it should of been released! Who said Tegra 3 cant do this, blame Gameloft for being too lazy!
*Purchase the game!* (no bootleg copies required)
1) First, you must be rooted for this to work! (and trust me rooting is a MUST for Prime and easy to do) If you are not rooted, please use this great, simple one step tool to root! Should take less than 10 minutes to do-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526487
2) Once you have confirmed root, I would recommend(but NOT required) that you overclock your device. I use EZoverclock, and my settings for balance are set at 1.3ghz, and performance mode now set at 1.6( no big hit on battery at all)
3) Ok, now download and install Chainfire 3D(free). Once it is installed, please open the app, and select Install the CF3D driver. Once selected the Prime will reboot. ** also, be sure that the root installed superuser! If not, you will need to install this for all root-required apps like chainfire 3D to work!
4) Now this part is not really required, but for those still having gaming issues with the Prime, please follow my settings on the thread below. For a lot of people including myself, this removes all random rebooting, lag and gaming issues for the Prime!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1690619
That's it folks!! Launch Nova 3, and enjoy it in all it's graphic, IPS glory with barely any lag on the powerhouse that is Tegra 3!! Also, try it in IPS+ mode, it looks sweet. Let me know if you guys have any questions..enjoy!!
**Things to note**
I have my Prime overclocked to 1.6 in performance mode, playing the game this way, it's just FAST!!! However, if you want to stay at the regular balanced mode, it plays just as well as having the graphic effects OFF before this fix!
Lastly, there is ONE bug that I have noticed, when pressing the sprint button, you do not see your character run Fortunately, you really don't need to use the sprint button that often, and you can still "see" the environments, so you CAN use the button, but you will have to adjust to not actually seeing your character move. Again, this is a MINOR inconvenience to have all the graphic effects turned on until Gameleft updates the Prime (if ever). I will continue to play around with some settings to see if I can solve this issue.
Have fun guys!!
I'll have to give this a shot...
So by default, some effects are disabled on the Prime?

Give it a try, it works! Yes, the game runs on the Prime (an IPad 3) with high graphic effects turned off.(fire on buildings, smoke effect while shooting guns etc). This trick enables it. I guess that Gameloft didn't want to show that the Tegra 3 can handle effects that the IPad 3 cannot! Lol
I carried out 1-3 as suggested on .28 and this fix seems to work really well, nice find. My other 3D games also perform much better without any issues as well Lets hope it lasts!

No, follow my instructions. You are not installing the plugins from chainfire, just the driver. This tricks the apk file to use the games full features by default.. which was cut off for tegra by gameloft
Seems like a pretty big coincidence that you posted this just 3 days after this thread said the exact same thing... Whatever, I guess you're able to use all the effects.

Secondly, I dont even own a galaxy note, so there would be no need for me to view that thread whatsoever. However, if you do a simple google search, there are multiple postings on how to use chainfire to fix the nova 3 issue. My instructions were on how to optimize it to work better for our Primes (no lag etc)
I have been using chainfire since I rooted my Prime, that's how i noticed that Nova 3 worked well, but it was really laggy. So i played around with the settings that i listed and it helped a lot. Thanks for pointing that thread out though!

Wow...two things about me, if i received any info from another source or thread, I ALWAYS give whomever i got the info from props. Secondly, I dont even own a galaxy note, so there would be no need for me to view that thread whatsoever. No problem buddy. Although, having used this fix since reading that thread earlier this week, I haven't noticed any difference? It might be only on the few levels I've tried it and taken some screenshots, but really have seen no improvement. Which are you seeing higher graphics/details and or better performance?

No worries lol! Someone would have to be a complete idiot to claim responsibility for someone elses post on XDA, but then again nothing surprises me anymore
You dont see the fire effects on the buildings on the first level, the smoke effect after shooting your guns? These were not on the tegra-released versions before the fix. Did you already have chainfire installed before trying the fix? That would explain why you didn't notice the graphical difference

I turned it on mid-game, a few levels in and haven't seen a big difference on those levels atleast (inside the ship and on the desert planet as of yet). But if it helps with the first few missions I'm all for it!

You should see the smoke effects on the desert planet (that's the level i am on now) Every level is updated to show the max-graphics when you use chainfire as instructed in my OP
I installed chainfire and saw immediately the improvement in graphics. I would do some comarison sreenshots. But I don't see the option to turn off Chainfire without uninstalling.
Why can't we see the max details in NOVA 3 w/o Chainfire? Is it a fault of Gameloft or Asus?
Funny I was reading up in the s3 thread and they were using chainfire to get ipad3 effects so I posted right away in the nova 3 thread not realizing this one already existed since I used tapatalk and went straight to my subscribed thread. Lol. Thx for posting this though. Now I feel like I should start the game from the beginning again just so I can enjoy the game more. Haha

lol..it seems everyone with chainfire installed "discovered" this huh lol. Also, the Ipad 3 DOES NOT have the full graphical effects eneabled, but the Ipad 2 does! Many Ipad 3 owners are upset on how the Ipad 2 performs better graphically then the Ipad 3. Its all due to the Ipad 3's gpu being eaten up by the retina display/higher resolution. It can not handle that plus the graphical display of nova 3....the Ipad 3 developers should o gave the device more ram/gpu power to run gmes better
Next game you should find a solution for Modern Combat 3. That one is plagued with connection lost issues. Love that game but it's very frustrating. Especially if your having an epic round!

I had this issue when connecting to my home router but tethered to my phone was no issue. And yea its Fn frustrating when you get disconnected and you're on a killing streak.
When I want to Sprint (Run fast) i get a black screen with a red line across the screen. (nova 3)
I tried the multiplayer Modus and saw this. Can anyone help me?

I have exactly the same problem.
I'm running the CM9 beta and while I really like the interface and smoothness of ICS, I get loads of random lockups and restarts. Is this typical? Is there any way around it? It seems as if some people are running this ROM without much trouble which makes me wonder why I'd be subject to a different experience.
any thoughts or suggestions? is there anything I can do increase stability?
thanks
If you're running a lot of media on it, say: pics, movies, web browsing with many pics or gifs to load they it can give it some trouble. Play around with it for a bit and see what it likes and what it doesn't. CM9 is really nice.
I have a thread addressing this issue. You may want to check it out.

Fixed Permissions and that didn't seem to help anything. My phone could just be sitting on my desk and it will suddenly restart. only real widget I'm running is Beautiful Widgets weather/clock combo. Had been running Go Launcher, but disabled it to no effect. I'm somewhat at a loss as to what I can even try at this point.
I seemed to have more problems with it when I tried to supercharge. But when I was first trying to do it, it wasnt 100% supercharged. I figured out the right way of getting it fully supercharged and it ran smoother than ever. Still some lockups and reboots now and then but thats expected. Our ICS ROMs aren't perfect. I also found that flashing the ROM without wiping data sometimes made things worse. Now that I figured out how to do things right, every ICS ROM we have runs smooth. Other than the random reboots every now and then. Those wont go away.

I been running paranoid android for 2 days now. Not one reset or real issue yet. I use fast reboot pro from play store though

Another suggestion is to use system tuner to disable apps from starting up that do not need to be running. That's seems to have helped quite a bit.

Just wanted to update this for others having some stability issues.
I wanted to flash the bluesleep fix. So I copied it to my phone, made a nandroid, and flashed it. While in the BSR I decided to flash the mashups.
reboot, major problems as you'd guess. read up on it, reflash CM9, things are ok, but I revert back to my nandroid just to be safe. then I flash the bluesleep fix.
now...super stable. a couple of random reboots but no where near as many. what fixed it, the bluesleep fix? just mucking with it? no idea. moral of the story may be to apply the blue sleep fix, or take a nandroid and then restore it. I have no idea, but now I'm really loving my CM9.
Paranoid android has the blue sleep fix and mash up as part of the rom
