Hello!
Which file is responsible for apk that handles the HW keyboard?
In previously used ROM (MiniCMSandwich Lite AOSP) polish characters where 'highlighted' by default (were on the first place on the list) and pushing another button caused acceptance of the 'highlighted' character.
Now, in CM9.1 FXP136, the character isn't 'highlighted' by deafault and to accept it I have to push enter or click it on the screen, what is very inconvenient for me.
Screenshot from CM:

PS. I would write in the ROM topic, but I am not allowed (yet).
BUMP
I can confirm this too. BTW I'm using spanish language.
This is the implementation of CM. Before 135 or 136 you even weren't able to only press enter... you had to use the touchscreen. so this implementation is way better as previous cm versions.
If the MiniCMSandwitch did NOT use any proprietary software that has to be licensed for distributing for se-keyboard I guess you can ask the dev team of FXP via the issue tracker to implement this into cm9.1. But if it's a little illegal (although it is often tolerated), then you just can be lucky to use that MiniCMlite rom I Don't know that one
Snoopo, do you know which files are responsible for that process? If it legal issue, I would change it by myself. I wanted to do it manually anyway.
accents...
Fill out the accents you want in this document: http://www.amigaos.dk/cm-test/keyboard_accent.doc
Then send it to me at [email protected] and I will look at it.
Remember also to write in the beginning of the document what language it is (in English).
I already fixed it for German a month ago (included in the FXP builds).

My changes have now been accepted, so the Polish accents will now work in the next versions of both CM9.1 and CM10.
there is still a problem of german xperia pro. when i change HW layout from qwerty to qwertz, FN + z (number 6) does not work.
1-5 and 7-0 work, only 6 not. When i change to a different keyboard (swift), it works.

have not heard that before.
Please try to check if you press FN + y
Is this CM9 or CM10?
FN + y does nothing.
i tested on CM9.1 FXP137.
after pushing a lot of buttons, it worked for a short time, but after a reboot i had the same issue.
Now i loaded the original Xperia Keyboard wich works correct and has built in swipe, but it would be nice if the original Keyboard also works as expected.

Can I by any change get you to try it again?
I have just tried it, and it is working fine for me, on my mini pro, using XperiaParts from FXP137.
I will try tomorrow, today I'm not at home. Next Week I'll update my wifes device, wich is also an xperia pro.
Is there a difference between the HW Keyboards of the Mini pro and the bigger xperia pro?

Thank you.
As far as I know, should there not be any difference in the "blue key" and the rest of the hardware keyboard. The other buttons and do I not know that much about.
Looking forward to hear from you.
i do have some problems in trying to reproduce it.
when i change back my keyboard to the build in one, FN+Z works, but i it prevents me from writing small letters. it seems that you configured the "earth" symbol on the right side as "right shift".
i currently see no way to reproduce this. i will try to report when i flash cm to my wifes phone, sometimes next week..

On the keyboard layouts, where we have latin characters, is the Globe key used as caps lock. That is intentional.
On non-latin keyboards, the "globe key"/"caps lock" is used to change into the Latin characters on the keyboard.
thanks for this info, I did not find this anywhere before.
Anyway, I cannot reproduce my "FN+z" error, so it may have been a false positive. sorry for wasting your time.

For all who might be interested to try... Following the instructions in this article will help you to install Gingerbread keyboard:
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/12/06/download-gingerbread-keyboard-for-rooted-devices/
Cheers
Confirm, it's working. It is better though to have the language set for English...if one would choose another language, it may have some missing characters. For example, I had also Romanian selected. When I switch to it, the first row displays only some of the numbers (the ones that are typed when you long press on the key). 1,2,4, 5 and 9 are shown (if I remember exactly) the rest of them being inaccessible. If you switch to English, everything looks just fine.
Keyboard seems (and looks) better than the standard Froyo keyboard (and this is how it's advertised too), has some new functionality, but I still prefer Better Keyboard. For those using English layout and don't have Better Keyboard installed, this Gingerbread ported keyboard will be a better option than the standard one (and best thing...it's free)
it works but that's about it.
The dictionary doesn't know some of the basic words even though it supports dutch. :s
And I don't think its made for hdpi, it looks pretty small.

I'm using a HTC mt4g (rooted and s-off), installed this and have only English selected, yet as soon as I touch a key it FC for 'android.process.inputmethod.latin
Also, my phone has the same resolution as the legend (480x800) and the keyboard seems to be sized correctly.
Anyone else with this FC issue?
The Legend is 480*320, not 800*480.
When I tried, the installation failed because it couldn't verify the zip file.
Ah gotcha. I'm just using the xda app and thought the legend was the incredible..
It seems like a lot of people are having issues with this keyboard currently

I got it to work by downloading the keyboard zip made by fabulous. Google it. If you have a problem with the keys being to small, you need to download the LCD Density app, set it to 240 and restart, then set it back to the default of 160 and restart.
They keyboard should be fine after that. I've been using it for a while and prefer it to Swype, HTC, and Android 2.2.
One last note. Restarting the phone may cause the keyboard to revert to a small state so be prepared to do the LCD fix again.

Just a head's-up that the new 3.0 version of SlideIt Keyboard for Android is out and it rocks!
I've not a single complaint about this version and I've always wished I could have the best features of Swype, etc. and have the features of SlideIT. I really do think it is finally better than Swype in every way possible.
This is not a spam. I don't work for them. I'm just so happy with the thing, I wanted to share.

Ooops! Yes, I did. I requested a mod to edit the title for search purposes. Thanks.
Anyway, I've really been pleased with the performance of this software.
For me, the best things over Swype are:
delete on error erases the entire word, not just one letter (unless you want to)
multiple language access with one click literally.
shortcuts
text selection is better/easier
etc.

Watched the entire vid. Don't see a Mic key anywhere. It needs to be on the first default keyboard.
Otherwise, some nice features. I'd also prefer to have access to the cursor positioning arrow key more easily. Looks like at least 3 buttons to get there.
Thanks for the reference though.
I ve been using it since yesterday and i am definitely going to prefer it over swype. Lots of shortcuts and dictionary seems to be better than swype..well at least for me.

After a quick trial run I'm liking it better than Swype on my rooted Vibrant. I'll try to remember to come back here and post some thoughts after a couple days.
One of my main problems with Swype was always their word choice window, SlideIT does it much better by putting the suggestions right above the top row of keys where they are with the stock keyboard, so I love that.
After a quick trial on my rooted Vibrant, I'm kinda liking it better than Swype for a few reasons.
1. The word suggestion is not a random pop-up that hides everything. It's right above the keyboard which makes much more sense (personal preference).
2. It appears to be more formal and accurate, especially when inputting new words and keeping the caps, like ASCE.
3. It's overall layout is more to my liking (personal preference).
4. You don't have to hunt for it, make sure the ROM you flash has it, or worry about losing it in the future.
Good find, OP. Thank you.
Still loving it so far. The one drawback I've noticed is the only numeric mode had the numbers across the top of the keyboard, there's no keypad mode that I could see.

It doesn't replace Swype. It adds another keyboard. If you wish, you can delete Swype. I have.
I was a long-time fan of Swype, and the previous iterations of SlideIT were pretty marginal in comparison, but V3 has come a long way and I use it daily and much prefer it. It's much more accurate than Swype, generally, in my experience, and it does a far better job in multi-language accuracy and much faster at switching languages. It's Spanish dictionary is better, for example. The shortcuts/abbreviations are an invaluable feature to me.

Hi there, I just installed the latest CM7 v14.5 ROM. It's really fast so good job to the developer. However there is a few bugs I want to point out:
Battery lasts less than a day with normal use (e.g. music, sms, whatsapp, browser and 1-2 calls). On average only lasts me 12 hours.
Camera not working properly.
Compass not working.
During/Receiving phone call, contact name is blocked by button overlay.
And after phone call, the screen doesn't seems to light up unless I press a button. So it was hard for me to "end call".
LauncherPro crashes quite often during phone startup and I had to force close it.
PS: For people complaining facebook/twitter can't save login, all you have to do is to move these apps to internal phone memory.
Most your issues can be fixed using your own settings though .battery is fine. anser call fix with changing unlock slider to first 1 .launcher pro is bad ,using a market app unenstall it use your some thing else like 2.3launcher

Has been added the support for the iptables?
In the CM6 and in the original Sony's rom there is no support about this function. I know that is a probles about the kernel & the rom...so, does app like DroidWall run without problem with the CM7?
thx for reply

thanks for the info
there will be ever a kernel with this feature?
imho is a very bad thing that we can't use firewall on this phone...
Another potential bug? I noticed on few occasion when I'm in a call the phone will just "crash" mysteriously. The screen went blank and I cannot revive the phone with any key pressed. I then have to pull out the battery and restart the phone. And also one or two times when I put the phone into charging and went sleep. Then next morning I woke up it's asking for PIN number, I suspect the phone restarted itself.
I don't really mind minor bugs but one thing I cant stand is the screen going black while having a call.As soon as I remove the phone from my ear the screen goes black and the only way to ''revive'' it is to slide the qwerty keyboard!!!!Does any1 have a solution to this??????

Didn't follow the progress on X10 mini pro custom ROMs, but now I have a new still boxed X10 mini pro here, and I am uncertain if I should sell it or use it.
At this point in development, is it recommended to go for CM7, or stick with CM6 till the remaining issues have been solved?

Hi guys,
My friend has bought herself a German Motorola Atrix with Android 2.2. It is locked, but has root (I did that).
Now she is a hell of a texting witch and likes to text a lot, but hates the qwertz keypad. So she is desperately searching for an app which offers the numeric keypad in the Atrix system for everything (texting, e-mail, surfing, ...).
It would also be nice, if it offers Swype like in the Samsung Wave handsets: T9 Trace it is called there. It offers Swype gestures in qwertz AND numeric keypad, which really rocks.
Is that numeric keypad for texting on the Motorola Atrix somehow possible (with or without Swype)?
Thank you in advance.
that seems like a lot for one keyboard to have. tell her to try touchpal keyboard. its new and free on the android market untill october or something like that. i think it has german support it also has swype like imput along with different layouts for input.
hope that helps?
Sounds like you are looking for flext9
Unfortunately, both support/offer only qwertz keypad, no numeric keyboard. I tested them.

Thank you guys for your app hints. That helped a lot. At least, the girl has now her numeric keypad.
Now I am still searching a keyboard app with numeric layout AND Swype/T9 Trace.
Just to remember: "T9 Trace" is Samsung's Swype (not T9 only).
I have a feeling that there is no app like this, because I looked in two other forums in Germany and there were a lot of people asking for this without success.
Something like this:

For all interested: I found a solution (app) for our problem. Ultra Keyboard from Binary Bulge has got Swype in 3 x 4/numeric keypad layout.
It is still not as good as the T9 Trace on Samsung Wave, bu I am really happy about this.
I have to say, that seems like the most inefficient way to put in text... Buy modern smartphone with large screen, replaced keyboard with a kludge that was forced on us by limits of technology 20+ years ago? You are, of course, free to use whatever works for you; but wouldn't it be better to just retrain yourself to use a proper keyboard? Soon you'll type faster and easier...

Thank you, Touchpal looks good, but like all the others it does not have swype feature (touchpal curve called here) on the numeric keyboard layout (12 keys called here).
That is what this thread is about. We search a keyboard app, that has swyping/tracing on the numeric layout like "T9 Trace" from Dragonfly (which is for Bada phones only).
The only keyboard app I found having this is called Ultra Keyboard, but is not working as good/fast as "T9 Trace" from Samsung Wave phones.

No, unfortunately, it does not have this. I just installed it with a lucky smile, but then got disappointed again. TouchPal Curve is working only the qwery layout, not on 12 button layout.
SwiftKey is very fast once you learn the shortcuts and give it time to learn how you type. Their AI is awesome! There's a free trial in the play store. They'll be releasing a swype-like feature soon.

I know the modes, but the last (the 12 keys mode) does NOT have TouchPal Curve (their Swype). TouchPal Curve works only the qwerty keyboard.

We have Paranoid Android (Jellybean 4.12) on the phone.
Would be amazing if we could port the textinput-tng.apk from Xperia SK17i GB 2.3.4, that keyboard is pure gold, Both landscape QWERTY (Swipe included) with vertical T9 Numeric keypad...
But actually i don't know how...
So far all I have is Swiftkey tablet.
What works:
Full functionality, voice input (after sideloading voice search 2.1.4), themes, settings, activation. Basically, everything works.
What doesnt:
Nothing right now.

Post what keyboards you replaced LatinIME with and if it worked. If it's a free keyboard, you can post an APK but remember, you HAVE to mod permissions to
Code:
Read, Write
Read
Read
or 644 in chmod terms.
You also need to reboot after you chmod the apk so it can take effect.
Warning, I am not liable for whatever you do to your system.
Smart Keyboard Pro works but I had to download the APK and put it in /system/app and install it from there.
I have tried other keyboards and I just can't be without SKP. You can adjust key height, calibrate the keyboard and also set it to always show long-press characters so there is no need to use ALT or 123 keys about 75% of the time.
SKP also supports both keyboard and sound themes.

Swiftkey tablet does work. I had to moved it to system/app and installed it. If you don't install it, if just give you errors after restart. Once you installed it and configured it, it work.

I downloaded, moved to system/app/ then changed the permissions and installed. I then restarted then opened the app on its own which ended in force closing constantly also tried settings/input method/swiftkey and got the same constant force closing issues. Could it be the APK I have or am I missing something? Please help

I replaced the LatinIME.apk when I got the hackers keyboard... is there different ones per keyboards? If so where can I find them? If not then whatvelse could be off, I've done everything everyone's said to do and got nothing but the dreaded force closes....
Rename the APk to LatinIME.apk, and replace the one in /system/app and then change permissionsn

For the life of me I can't get Smartkeyboard Pro to work. The keyboard works but when I go into settings I get constant FC.
Have you been able to get into the settings menu? If so what version are you using?
Thanks.
Renamed the apk to LatinIMe.apk checked preferences and still nothing but force closes... the new keyboards are showing up in the list though, I just can't get them to work?
Can someone try the new Swype beta that came out last week? I'd do it but my stupid GF refuses to give me my NT for two more weeks, because "it's not a Christmas gift if you open it on Thanksgiving."
Finally after fooling around for hours on this thing I got it to work thanks for all the help guys

It looks like Anxiyz got it to work a few weeks ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20142893&postcount=117
I am wondering if the new version of the beta works, as well.

Yeah, it crashed on my system repeatedly.
Got two keyboards working
I've managed to get the Thumbs keyboard and Swift Tablet X working by installing once and then installing it a second time immediately. The force closings stop after the second install and they both show up in my keyboard list. No file swap or rename was required.
