Does anyone else notice that the resound has horrible memory management. I just got it to day and I haven't rooted it or anything yet. I have es task manager and its always saying I have between 50-90mb of ram left which is horrible if I clean the caches I get about 400 back but it fills back up almost in a min and starts slowing down Mabry its just all the bloatware I guess

When something needs room, Android makes room for it. Nothing new.
If you don't want the extra stuff running, then root it and freeze the apps you don't want. Again, nothing new.

I understand that android manages there ram different I just its just that I had an EVO4g (512 ram an 998m processor) and sense 3.5 was my fav Rom for it I guess I just expected the ruu stock would be more impressive on a machine that could handle it but honestly my EVO handle its cache an ram better I never had lag unless it was a beta Rom so just venting I guess lol. But then again they were all developed Rom made to manage processes better and I have never liked stock kennels.

I've owned a bunch of HTC phones but have been having issues with my new HTC Rezound. Whenever I exit certain applications the stock launcher reloads and displays the HTC Splash Screen. Seems to happen most often with Draw Something (but does happen with other apps as well). Anyone else have a similar issue or know of a fix?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
I am actually surprised to say this but I am going to say it (knocks on wood) anyway. I know exactly the issue you are speaking of with sense phones in general. have had it happen tons of times on phones from the Droid Eris, to Incredible 1 & 2, TBolt, and they have all done this. I am into week 2 of my rezound and haven't seen it once. {walks away and launcher redraws}.
Are you running any tweaks or mods like the leedroid tweaks?

On my Incredible, I used V6 Supercharger to prevent this (and it worked amazingly well!).
I have V6 on my Rezound, and in the 30+ days I've had it, I've had exactly one re-draw of the launcher, and I really think that was my fault. Check it out!
V6 Supercharger
Thanks for the input. Mine is totally bone stock...I just received it yesterday. On my Incredible it would happen once in a great while. On the Rezound it happens almost consistently. And I wouldn't mind if it didn't take the launcher so long to recover.

When sense does that it either has run out of Memory or forced closed
Sent from my Dinc... I mean Rezound
I figured as much. But that means I'm constantly out of memory which is odd for a bone stock phone. I even turned off back ground processes that might have been sucking up memory. It's bad enough that it makes me want to return the phone.

It could be a memory leak in an app. If you notice it happening with a particular app try uninstalling it and see how it runs.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
I've turned off fast boot and cpu timelines which has seemed to help thus far. Worse case I guess I could just restore the phone and reinstall one app at a time. Main culprit definitely seems to be Draw Something though.

Have you checked to see how much memory draw something uses? I know that words with friends is a memory hog.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
Good call. Draw Something uses 72MB which is nearly twice as much as other average apps. In fact I would argue that it's almost unacceptable. I still can't believe the launcher wouldn't have a higher memory priority over other user apps though.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
I noticed this happens when I use Scramble With Friends. It used about 130 MB of memory. Sometimes more so I uninstalled it. Sense uses about the same amount of memory. I think because the phone gets low on memory it shuts down Sense because it is using lots of memory. Seems ridiculous that this happens, but it does.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
Sense 3.5 takes up a ton of memory so when its not used and other programs require more ram sense is unloaded. Once you go back to the home screen it has to be reloaded.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Draw Something, Facebook, Any of those games and whatnot constantly streaming data, seem to decide to use all your ram for no reason. I like ICS for the reason that now you can close stuff when your done with it
So when ICS rolls out with Sense 3.6 they'll hopefully have this fixed. I bought this phone for Sense and I'm just amazed how fickle it seems this far.

That's half the answer the problem is the ram is supposed to dump the apps from the ram in order of least important but for some reason the sense launcher drops to a less important level when not in use (to give back more ram I guess). Like many people have said V6 will fix this problem and is super easy to use so I would give that a try is a great script.

Ya I'm definitely thinking about trying that out. But it requires root doesn't it? Not sure I'm ready to sacrifice my warranty just yet. I wish I could just reprioritize Sense in system settings.

Blackberry sems to be the only one with a reliable + official Facebook app from my experience.
And that phone is for dinosaurs.
Neither my iPod Touch 4 or EVO gets them consistently.
The facebook app is an embarrassment to that company. I truly can't believe they havent done something about it. Google+ has one of the best looking and functioning mobile apps I have personally ever used, fb should take notes.

The FB app sucked on the OG EVO. It's not the phone. It's ridiculous that a website of that stature has such a crappy app.
I agree, the app is so slow I usually just give up before the content is fully loaded and turn on my computer haha.
Slow as hell on my One X aswell, almost bought an s3 in a rage
You would figure for a multi billion dollar company they could do a simple app. It worked way better before they added everything. I normally go through the browser anyways. I don't need up to date notifications but if you did why not turn on text notification? I mean you get unlimited texts anyways.

Funny you mention that. I haven't noticed any ads on the mobile version and I figure they just use our data as "payment". Overall I kind of want to ween off of Facebook. I feel they sold out just at the right time.

Ww need a new social network. Every dog has it's day, and maybe Facebook has had theirs? Although it should be a network defined by it's users, not controlled by profit and exposure.
FYI, the facebook app for Blackberry is actually made by RIM, but with facebook's support. That's why it doesn't suck as bad.
Also, facebook's app on iOS (both iPhones and iPads) suck. Countless mistakes and bugs and they never update it either. I usually just end up using the mobile web version of it.
They have no real mobile strategy. That's why the stock is crapping out. If they had a plan to make $$$ off a mobile platform they might care about its quality and ability to draw customers for advertisers.

At least with Sense's Friendstream, Facebook at least seems functional (to a degree).
Google+ is great, just none of my friends are on it lol, but it does things Facebook wish it could do. I love the messenger on G+. While trying to use Facebook's, snail mail may be a more effective use of time lol.
Sorry for the bad quote, I wish the XDA app would work better with my Transformer :banghead:

no. not until we get kernel source from htc. its due to htc putting in stupid memory (ram) management settings so basically as soon as you leave an app it closes it. i hate this also but theres nothing we can due till htc releases some code for us (which btw should have come out long ago but for some reason they feel like pissing us off haha)

I knew someone would come in here blaming Sense's RAM management. The problem is, Chrome still reloaded all its tabs on my rooted OG EVO when I had it running ICS, and still does the same thing on my Xoom. It seems to be the way Google programmed the app, perhaps to save up on both CPU and GPU RAM. It is annoying, but you'll probably have to bring it up on Google Play or on their discussion boards.

Ok so maybe its coded into chrome. doesn't explain why it happens in the stock browser also or for any of the other apps that get closed as soon as you leave them. I can almost guarantee that tapatalk will reload as soon as I launch something else. It IS a problem with sense so it does deserve blame.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Oh I'm not saying there is no Sense memory issue. It's a pretty big problem for me with playing heavier games and then having to wait for Sense to reload when I go back to the homescreen. Also coming from using my Xoom it's a bit annoying having simpler apps restart on me just because I switched apps for more than half a minute. I'm just pointing out that Chrome seems to like doing that by itself too.

OK so i've had my LTEvo since launch have noticed reoccurring lag during many scenarios. Whats up with that? I had an Epic 4G Touch and even the og EVO never had the same insane slowdowns. The problems got MUCH better after i started using custom ROMS (meanROM) but never completely gone.
For example:
1) While updating apps from google play. System becomes almost unusable while updating.
2) When a single app is busy. I get that CPU resources are being used by the busy app but my previous phones knew how to prioritize tasks much better
3) The famous App drawer lag. Really? This one is not really a big deal but it's kinda shameful.
4) When RAM is low. I thought android was suppose to intelligently free up RAM
OK so this post is kind of a rant and i've pretty much learned how to use my phone to work around the slowdowns but I shouldn't have to. If someone has solutions for reducing the overall system hiccups it would be greatly appreciated.
After I slapped on a ROM with the latest OTA, my performance increased significantly; however, I never experienced what you outlined below. What hardware model do you have and what version of Mean ROM are you running?
