So the other day im standing at the door waiting for my fiancée to go out for lunch and i dropped my phone on our hardwood (giggity) floor. It had a case on it and it couldnt have fallen from more than 3 feet. i picked it up turned on the screen nothing wrong. all was good. i get into the car and realize that the bottom half of my screen doesnt work. i have hboot 1.50.000 so as far as taking it back im pretty screwed. Not really having a choice i flashed a stock rom and took it in to the store. They told me that my insurance had carried over even though i had bought it off craigslist (which i didnt know) they said to come back in an hour and it would be good to go. I come back and the tech tells me that it couldnt be fixed. He asked me if i wanted to order a new one or i could have one that a customer brought back during their trial period, i checked it out it was in perfect shape plus it came with a screen protector. So in my head im thinking i just took my rooted broken phone in the store and am walking out with a new phone plus sum, all with out them knowing i had void my warranty! he activates the new 3d for me and just as hes handing it to me he says "Oh and just a heads up dont root this one." I could barely speak i just looked at him and said....al--right. haha but that is the kind of service i always get with my local sprint store. they ALWAYS are super nice and always take care of me. Is this story relevant to anything? not really but with all the sprint hate ive been reading i thought i would give them props. ive been with at&t, verizon and us cellular and sprint has surpassed all of them.
Rooting your phone doesn't void your insurance coverage with Sprint. If you pay them for it, they'll provide the service . Glad you got a replacement with no hassle or deductible.
This made my night. I can sleep now. Lulzy story.

It's nice to see someone posting positively about Sprint. I've always had great experiences with Sprint and seeing all the threads dedicated to *****ing about them gets old...
Sprint is great. Coming from verizon when it took multiple BBB complaints to get any solution, it its a relief.

I've seen a lot of complaints on Sprint, but I've never actually had any issues myself. In fact, I've had a hell of a lot better customer service with Sprint than I did with T-Mobile.

Same here. Sometimes I believe some people just have ridiculous expectations.
I also always have great customer service. ATT was the worst imo.

Yea man you got a good tech. I'm a Sprint tech and per policy since we can't prove a device has been rooted we have to exchange/repair your device. But a lot of the techs like to have a power trip and give customers grief for rooted devices. We all have rooted devices at our store and I always encourage getting the most out of your device by rooting it

I've been missing calls and Sprint asked me to bring my phone into my dumb local store. The reps ordered a replacement phone but said it was 5 to 10 day wait because they were out of stock. I just find it interesting that they are out of stock by the way they are discounting them.

It's out of stock because of the fact that it will be a replacement (ie refurbished) phone. Those phones come from a completely different place than the "new" ones. Thus the wait. I've had to go through this three times already, every time my replacement phone came in around 3 days. Best of luck

That's cause replacements have to be ordered, DERPS, is what we called it.
Sprint cannot hand out good backstock for problems unfortunately. They order them to the store. They will let you keep your current malfunctioning phone till your replacement comes in.
I worked phone repair for them, although never used their service, t mobile ftw.

While this is true, if they are on backorder some stores lean more towards doing an in-store exchange if they are nice enough. Some customers come in all pissed off and demand a new one in store and if your manager is as much of a pushover as mine, then they will get a new one. They use that in order to eliminate wait for that certain customer. I work service and repair for them as well.

My wife and I just went through the same thing with her phone. Had to order a replacement, was told 3 days, a week later we finally got her phone. Got the phone home only to realize that there were burn-in marks and the buttons on the bottom weren't lit correctly. Fortunately for me they had another one in the back that was much better.
I asked the rep why the 3D was back ordered and without hesitation he told me that it was due to all the issues the phone had. He claimed they replace quite a few a day (for what it's worth).

Just got the same thing from my local store. Ordered a replacement on Thurs, it was "backordered" and 5-7 business days. Picked it up today. Came in a small yellow box that I originally thought is a car charger or something.
Did you break root and restore to original?
Just wondering if the phones that were returned were rooted. I'm having trouble with mine and I'm supposed to take it in to a repair center. How do I restore it to locked state?

Sprint doesn't care if you root your phone now so no need to restore it.
Oh and I took my phone in for a digitizer issue. Was told they had to order me a phone. The new one 'old' one had dead spots in the touch screen now they have ordered me another one. Both times the phone was backordered and there were no other phones on the 'other list'. First time phone took 3 business days to get to me. We'll see how long this one takes.

I always flash a stock unrooted Rom before I bring my phone is repairs. They usually look for the superuser app only though so you wouldn't need to do anymore than that. I had a digitizer issue too. It took them 5 days to get it. I got lucky though, my refurb was in great condition.

After the ICS update my phone has become unstable rebooting when accessing apps and my radios are all messed up dropping 4g and 3g all of the time
After 4 factory resets , today being the most recent factory data reset ,I had enough when my phone starting rebooting trying to make phone calls . Called Verizon to get a replacement no more rezounds so they said we go to the next comparable device and they said a Motorola razr I said no way is a razr on the level of my phone. I told the tech Im better off dealing with my issues , he insisted on sending me the razr said try it and if you don't like it call back and we will try something else to get you going , I felt insulted lol . I just hope its just software related with my phone and nothing hardware in case I need to start putting roms on it ,that was the whole point of getting a replacement , but might have to gamble now hopping its not hardware related .but before ics I was having problems but its worse now. For one no extended battery on the razr . I barley get through the day on my resound with extended battery I'm on my phone a lot with phone calls browsing listening to my music and GPS maps . So yep no more Replacements for now on rezound .

Hmm...I have been dealing with my screen freezing or the phone going crazy and randomly selecting different things on its own. If I lock and unlock it, the problem is resolved for a bit. Some days it never happens, some days it is intolerable. It has started happening with the camera now after the new update. I wonder if I hold out a bit longer if they will send me whatever new HTC phone comes out in the coming months lol.
waw
Thats really sad actually. Here is why.
1-No we cant do as much testing, which in turn means more devs leaving, which in turn means development coming to a screeching halt. Breaks my heart since this never truly saw the full potential of aosp like my Tbolt did.
2-Only the rezound, s3 and tbolt had surf and talk on 3g. and they sure as hell will not issue an s3 as a replacement, and i sure as hell am not going back to the tbolt after i burned my upgrade on the rezzy
3- I was wiating till the end of my warranty to get a one last rezound to survive the year between the end of my warranty and upgrade eligibility, now that dream is crushed too.

The rep I spoke with was assured that this was only temporary.
The only comparable phone would be the S3, otherwise everything on verizon is a downgrade. NO WAY id settle for a razr, never.

That's strange, I called today Due to 130+ heat issues and they did the same thing "out of stock". Offered me a razor, I told them I want a rezound So he said he will ship one.
Guess I'll wait and see what comes tomorrow

They have been out for about 2 weeks now, my brother's rezound took a crap and that's all they had then was the razr . Was just in Verizon store they said that right after the update , people have had a lot of trouble with the rezound signal failures, rebooting ,some bricked phones as well . Well we hope its temporary
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
We have a one year warranty on this phone guys. If Verizon won't stand behind it, then their contract is void, and I believe if you made a big enough noise, they would give you one, or upgrade to the gs3. I know that they have declined it up until now, but they can't back out of a warrenty without compensation. When you purchased a Rezound, that's what you bought, not a razor. At the very least I would think if you put pressure on Htc, they would make good on the warranty.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
It should be temporary. When my rezound bricked it took half a week for a replacement rezound to be in stock to ship out.

Oh I'm not settling for a razr, and like you said I feel the same way I bought a rezound not razr in my eyes they are not even on the same level .I didn't fight today but tmrw is a new day I want another rezound or a real equivalent and not a Motorola device wouldn't care if it was the razr maxx still wouldn't want it , like you said a gs3 ,not a fan of touchwiz but wth. the new incredible 4g is decent but its hard to go to smaller screen and that feels like a downgrade compared to my rezound .

I just called and they are sending me a replacement. Will be here Friday.
a buddy of mine told me that if you currently own a tbolt and call Verizon Wireless complaining about certain issues, they replace it with a Rezound. Has anyone heard anything about this?
If you get your Thunderbolt replaced for valid insurance purposes, they will replace it with a rezound since most, but not all, Verizon stores are out of Thunderbolts.
Some times, though, you won't be offered a rezound. Rather, you may get offered a LG Revolution... which sucks.

Same here. When I talked to the Rep at Asurion about my phone (sucky data connection) I hinted about the rezoned replacement. He told me that they have plenty of TBs around. Which is fine, I like the TB when it's working, with a good ROM it doesn't really matter what the phone is to me.

I think he's talking about my phone being replaced under the phone insurance program (Asurion). This is my 3rd TB from them so I think it's paid off. It's the first phone I bought insurance on and I'm glad I did. Having to cough up several hundred dollars for a new phone would suck.
Edit: Looks like they are out of refurbs at Asurion. I got a brand spanking new TB yesterday. It works beautifully (for now) I'm going to let it sit stock for a few days to make sure but then Jester's ICS will be on there in no time.

The Rezound. Personal preference, but the big part for me is the SD card. Yes, the Nexus has a slightly larger screen, and is, well, a Nexus device, but overall I just really have liked HTC's devices.

So in the next 2 weeks? Call me skeptical... to say the least. Also if that's the case then I probably wont be getting the One because I'm 6 months out for an upgrade. Guess I'll get whatever's after the One.
I am leaning more toward that the one will replace the dna in wal mart stores due to space constraints, but vzw, amazon, etc will probably continue to sell it
That is disappointing but alright at the same time.
All it has over the DNA ( most likely ) is the camera and development crowd from being global.

iSheep... iSheep... Meowww that's Apple VZW GSIII
I saw this coming a mile away and people hated on me like no tomorrow. The first minute we heard about the One, I said that the DNA would be dead to HTC and Verizon. They were just too similar and it was obvious the One improved on some of the cons of the DNA. It was almost like "oops, we made some mistakes on the DNA, so here is our real flagship now".
With that being said, I just got a DNA again last week and am enjoying it. But let me be straight....If the rumors are true and Verizon is getting the One or even their own variant of it, I will buy it on launch day without even thinking twice.
Must be nice to be able to afford multiple phone purchases within a month. It amazes me how people buy new phones every other month. I don't see how people don't lose tons of money on doing that...

I actually made $50 to get the DNA last week lol. I traded someone my Note 2 and he gave me $50 for me to take the DNA off his hands.
When and if the One becomes available or gets announced officially, I will sell my DNA for $400-450 and either get the One for a couple hundred more off contract or use another one of my upgrades.
I usually never come out of pocket more than $100-200 to get a brand new phone. You just gotta work it and don't let your devices get too outdated. I absolutely love getting and flipping devices for a new one withing 6 months to a year. It's fun and actually doesn't really cost much. Especially compared to other hobbies which can cost much more.

Oh my god. I'm just sitting here and hoping what is assumed will become true! (This stuff is always a hit or miss )
Pretty glad things came up and I didn't upgrade to the DNA 3 days ago, that would've hit the regrets pretty hard (not that I don't like the DNA; but I do have a preference for the One and there seems to be issue with rooting the DNA with the OTA. I was really wanting to install sense 5 on it)
I've been sitting on the verge of my upgrade, contract ending on the 22nd. Will probably pick up the 32GB variant, going to assume the phone will be good enough for me as is without root.

I went from my S3 to a HTC 8X Windows Phone (I had to try it lol) to a DNA to a Note 2 and back to a DNA. Not to mention shortly before that I had a Droid Razr Maxx.
I'm a phone whore and I happily admit it!
You guys are kind of jumping the gun. Walmart choosing not to carry both phones doesn't mean the DNA is EOL or that other resellers will follow in their footsteps. So VZW may kill the DNA in favor of the One but they haven't even officially announced their carrying the One yet. And a "Droid" branded device helps shore up a brand they've spent a ton of money building so there's room for both if they see fit.
Regardless.. Eol or not, I'm not bailing on the DNA, knowing that a newer better phone cycles out all the time... No real reason at the moment.. I'll wait to see what's up next
DROID DNA 5
Yea most definitely. However, if I could go back three weeks I would have waited for this. I had the PUK lock issue today for first time...all Verizon store did is reissue me new SIM again...maybe if the issue happens again (which it will) they will give me a One...
This just in, pigs are flying.

Same, I think I'm gonna wait and see if the x phone lives up to all the hype it had.

If DNA OTA gets root none of this matters to me. The ONE is a good phone, but I like the DNA form factor and 5" screen.
