[Question] Romming back to stock

Hey there XDAérs,
I wanted to rom back to samsung stock rom 2.3.5 again. I did it like i described below:
1 - i have downloaded official stock rom from samsung galaxy s2 (Netherlands)
and the official kernal for that version.
2 - I have used odin first at the PDA field i putted in the kernal and flashed it.
3 - I have used odin second at the field PDA and flashed the firmware
4 - It rebooted after completed.
However it keeps rebooting after the SG2 Splash screen. Are there any fixes for this? Or got any tips/hints?
Thanks in advice,
Xanji
Go into recovery mode and wipe cache. If that doesn't work factory reset from recovery mode.

Will this work for uk orange. I installed villianrom and i want to go back.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
You still need to install a rom. Factory reset won't delete a rom. Read the instructions on Intratechs thread. Can't post link as I'm using the XDA App.

Ok. So is villianrom good. Or should i use something different. Im really new. I do want to customise my phone. But now i no i wont get the ics update
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Never used VillianROM. Every ROM is different and is a personal choice. No one can tell you what you will like.
You can still get ICS when an official one comes out, just use Odin to install it. I'm sure as soon as a stable, official one come out, it will be on this site.

Get to recovery mode and wipe data/Factory reset it. Wipe the cache and install the ROM from Intratech's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Hope this helps!

Yes this will work for UK orange also. Instead of flashing the ROM from Intratech's STOCK ROM thread. Flash the carrier branded ROM for your region/carrier from Intratech carrier branded ROM section:

Most of the ROMs are good.It more depends upon one personal choice. A ROM which is good for me may not be to your personal liking. You will have a good user experience depending upon the combination of :
1. ROM / PDA : Base version of the firmware
2. Kernel : it is a bridge between applications and the actual data processing done at the hardware level. Most of the Custom ROMS come with their own kernal
3. Modem/Phone/Baseband/Radio : effects Internet connectivity/ signals etc
5. CSC : CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
Best way yo find out ROMS is to try them yourself. Popular ROMS I have seen are
1. SAMMY : Hyperdroid ROM,CheckROM, Batista,VillianROM etc
2.ASOP : Cynanogen,MIUI
All the best
Hope this helps!

Any Ideas?

Hi guys
I tried to root my cousins sgs2, i tried the odin method where you flash the cf-root kernel which is the same as the one which your phone is already running, but it keeps failing :S hes on ics through kies, his kernel version is [email protected] 151 #3. model number is GT-I9100 and the android version is 4.0.3.
like i said this did not work, its the official Tmobile UK ICS update i think, and it kept failing. i then tried the root method without kernel it flashed CWM but it kept resetting every time i tried to choose 'flash zip from internal sd card' :S
i would say im pretty experiened with android rooting, ive owned a t mobile pulse, SGS1, and ive also flashed my friends HTC DesireHD all successfully
Anyone have any suggestions? or could i downgrade his firmware back to gingerbread then root that way?
thanks
When you say resetting, what does that mean.
Because when you get that touch cwm, you have to flash the busy box installer, and after that you are rooted. But you don't have cwm left for further use.

Why dont you use superoneclick? I used it and it worked and its easier.

Hi thanks for the responses guys. To clarify a little bit o attempted the cf kernel method via odin bit it kept failing even.with both varieties of the correct kernel. I then attempted to do the recovery mode root whereby i flashed CWM which worked but when i scrolled down to flash a zip sd the power button would not select the.option. And every 3-5 seconds the CWM would return back to the start screen of CWM recovery in a loop every 3-5 seconds, so i was unable to flash superuser and busybox
The final option i believe is to try superoneclick but apparently it does not work for ics :/

its noted that on both LPB kernels there are problems .
In which case i would try LP7 .
Or flash a different Samsung stock rom to LPB .

i would say im pretty experiened with android rooting!
The way you're trying to root your cousins phone using CWM & SU.zip is just fine, "BUT" the reason your power button isn't selecting your zip files from your sd -card & keeps resettling CWM, is because that particular temporary CWM recovery is "TOUCH" & not BUTTON control! Try using your finger on the screen to select stuff rather than the volume & power bottons! & lastly, don't forget to put your CWM.zip & SU.zip files on an External SD-CARD & not your internal, otherwise CWM won't see them on your internal & it won't work

Once you're rooted you can install mobile odin from the market & use that! A lot safer & no yellow triangle or counter usage!

[Q] HELP. Phone wont switch on

Guys, I tired to flash the s3 look and feel rom from the galasy s2 android development theard on my s2 and now it wont swtich on. It will boot in download mode but no recovery. when I connect it to power, the battery icon only comes on once and then it switches off. Sometimes the screen starts flashing.
Could someone kindly advise how can I get around this?
Thanks in advance
Hi,
If the phone boots only into download mode, that's still a good sign. Just use the Odin tool and flash the new ROM. I know that doesn't help but need to stay calm and find the proper images.

You've obviously flashed it incorrectly or onto a incompatible rom or device variant. Next time read before flashing.
thanks guys,
do I flash a new kernel using odin? if yes, which one?
Thanks again.
Any one you want. Download a stock ICS or GB ROM from sammobile.com, and flash through Odin. Lucky you didn't brick your device, READ TWICE, FLASH ONCE.
Chris.
You should also confirm what model phone you have. Look on the label under the battery. What does it say for model?
flashing the stock firmware is the best option .. that solved my problem in the past .
flash the stock rom using odin . That is the best way to revive a bricked phone .
Oh good lord I hope this guy actually has an i9100.
I do have s2 i900. I am downloading I9100XXLPH.zip as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458

Unrooting Galaxy S2 i9100

If you want to unroot here are the steps :
1.Download the official ICS stock ROM (it should be .tar.md5)
2.Put your phone into download mode by holding down Volume Down, Center button, and Power button together for about 10 seconds until your phone reboots and you see the warning sign. Press Volume Up button to enter download mode.
3.Connect a micro-USB cable to your Galaxy S2 from your computer.
4.Run Odin(if your phone is connected you should see yellow highlight with a COM appearing, if not just get ur drivers up to date from Kies)
5.Choose “PDA” in ODIN and choose the stock ROM file you downloaded earlier(.tar.md5)
6.Hit “Start” in Odin and your phone should start unrooting/unbricking back to ICS official stock ROM.
7.When it's done the phone will reboot in 5-10 minutes.
Warning ! This happened to me - If it gets stuck to the S logo, get into recovery and get a factory/data reset then reboot. It should work like a charm
I'm guessing there are 100x tutorials out there but i tried to make it for everyone
p.s For the Stock ROM, try sammobile.com and go to firmware page ( U need to have an account to download stuff)

Need some more advice,
As you know my phone is a samsung galaxy s2 gt 19100 and its not loading up to the main screen, but staying on the boot screen. I recently updated to jellybean from ics as well.
Entering recovery mode has not worked as using the combination of buttons doesn't work and i have used odin to reinstall jelly bean and downgade to ics again and that has not worked.
I desperately need my phone to work as it has all my stuff on it, is there anything else that i have not tried?
Thanks in advance.
