[PROBLEM] Please help, GALAXY SIII refuses rooting - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
I'm having a strange problem rooting Samsung GALAXY SIII, please consitrate with me and help me if you can:
1- I've downloaded Odin
2- I've downloaded CF-ROOT V6.1 and 6.4
3 - I've enabled USB Debugging
4 - I've checked if the device is recognized on my PC, It's really recogbized and Kies can connect it
5 - I tried flashing the 2 CF-ROOT versions, Odin says "Pass" with green background, the device reboots, but not in recovery mode as it should start flashing SU and CWM, so in consequence, there is no SU or CWM apps on the device, and even no yellow triangle on bootscreen ( which appeared on my Galaxy SII Rooted with CF-ROOT and by same steps, but didn't appeared as I said, on my dad's SIII )
I tried it twice again, nothing happens
what is the prob??
Note : the model is GT-I9300 and I verified it and downloaded the right versions of CF-ROOT

Try this:
-open odin
-untick "auto reboot"
-choose CF-root 6.4 as PDA
-connect your phone (in download mode)
-flash CF-root (your phone will not reboot)
-disconnect your phone
-VolUp+Home+Power to restart in recovery
Now your phone should start in recovery and should start the installation process for SuperSU and CWMmanager

Thank you so much, but I tried this, I'm really shocked because I got the full CWM recovery, not the stock recovery, but it didn't do anything, I tried to do it manually by pressing "Install zip from sdcard" but, I couldn't find any zip to flash SuperSU

Try using odin 1.85
There won't be any yellow triangle for S3.

CF-root 6.4 includes recovery that is why you have custom recovery instead of stock..
After flashing CF-root your device will bot normally and not in recovery..install Supersu from playstore to check whether you have root or not..
Presence of CWM recovery generally suggest that CF root has worked..

Also while flashing thro 'ODIN' do ensure that no 'KIES' process are running on ur PC by checking with 'Windows Task Manager' if so kill them.
since 'Kies" sometimes interfere with Odin

Unfortunately nothing different
can anybody give me a CF-ROOT version with SuperSU and CWM ( maybe older than v6.1 )

If you are using any antivirus software uninstall it before rooting.

Your phone won't reboot into recovery mode when you root with CF-Root.
Open your app drawer and see if you see CWM and SuperUser icons. If so, you are already rooted.

U have to tick "unknow sources" in settings to instal su and cwm manager

You have been quite......Did you manage to root your phone?

If not solved, try using the Samsung Galaxy S3 toolkit. Had exactly the same issue, rooting with the toolkit solved it. One tip for using it, after the Odin flash the phone reboots, just wait a bit and the toolkit will do it's magic.

Thanks all dear friends, I solved the prob by rebooting into recovery mode manually after the flashing operation ends

Firstly thanks to everyone that responded
and secondly i managed to do it myself
all i did was
1. GT-I9100_ClockworkMod-Recovery_4.0.1.4.tar -> downloaded it
2. Pasted the above file in my phone memory
3. Flashed/installed it via odin
4. Then installed Rom manager from market
5. Flashed rom manager
6. Boom reboot and my CWM recovery works like charm when i boot into download mode.

Well....LOL
Total how many time have you used ODIN, for completing your task (Root & CWM)? in how many lines you can explain your steps?
How many PANIC situations have you passed through?
All this headache could have been avoided if you had searched XDA before rooting your Phone with such a prolonged methed. so please dont recomend the same to others...
Esiest and most followed method for rooting and CWM, is CF-Root, only single line instruction:
Pick the appropreat kernel and flash through ODIN....you have Root + CWM now
Yeah, ROM manager isn't exactly compatible for the S2, so it's not advised to use it. Better off with CF-ROOT and CWM kernel.

Noob help for flashing ClockWorkMod Recovery

First i want to ask if i the phone must be rooted before installing ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.5.0.4 - "v1.5"
I have installed the samsung usb drivers and ADB drivers and enabled usb debugging on phone. I tried to flash ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.5.0.4 - "v1.5" following the instructions on the forum but when all was finished in odin and the icon went green (PASS) and the phone rebooted i powered it off and then powered it on with vol up + power + home but the phone went to the Android system recovery and not to the ClockWorkMod Recovery
If you flash with odin correctly HOLDING home + vol up + power should get you to CWM recovery , where you can install SU access (root)
If not, try first to turn off device , take out battery , insert it again and then reboot with buttons hold. if STILL nothing try to flash with odin again
I managed to install the CF-Root-SGS3-v6.0 with odin v3.04 and tested it works fine but still no ClockWorkMod Recovery. I tried to flash agian the CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.5 with odin v3.04 and same problem. when all the process is finished and i go to recovery menu it shows the Android system recovery
weird , have you tried popping out the battery for a couple of secs ?
yes
Try the toolkit.
can you tell me step by step instruction for the toolkit because it's a little bit confusing? Which option should i choose if i want to install ClockworkMod Recovery?

With CWM Touch i will be able to install omega rom from sdcard?

Yes.
tried option 4 and still the same problem. Is there a possibility that the problem happens because i don't have sim card installed to the phone yet?
Is it possible to flash the ClockWorkMod Recovery from mobile odin pro?
problem solved i flashed the recovery using mobile odin pro
i had a similar issue when i rooted using CF Root. i ended up updating Odin to 3.04 and using CF Root 6.3, worked a treat.
I'm having the same issue. I've tried the toolkit on my windows machine (option 4). Then tried Heimdall on my mac and got the same results - No CWM and only stock recovery. Oddly enough, my Odin mode says "custom" for binary (count 6) and system status.
Coming from an HTC phone with fastboot I'm used to ./fastboot and ./adb'ing :O

CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4 NOT working on XXDLH9, any ideas?

Hi guys,
I have an international S3 with the latest (until today ) firmware.
Everything works smoothly and fine, but I want my root back...
So after some reading I found the process is pretty simple.
Downloaded the CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4 package, odin 1.85. Flash PDA with AutoReboot and Reset time.
The process ends up successfully, but when reboots I still don't have root.
Any idea as why this is happening, I couldn't find any alternative ways to get root...
Any help is welcome
Cheers!

How do you know you don't have root ???
Do you have CWM Manager and CWM recovery if not its a failed flash .
jje
Happen to me once: CWM was flashed but no SuperSU and no CWMmanager after reboot
If it's your issue, try that:
-reflash CF-root with "auto-reboot" untick in Odin
-when flash is done, disconnect your phone from computer
-Directly do Vol Up+Home+Power to restart in recovery
This should start the flashing process for SuperSU and CWM manager
Then the phone should restart (or do it yourself from recovery) and you should be rooted

Thank you very much for this advice! Until Android 4.1.1. I had not problems rooting with CF-Root, but after several (re)flashing (re)tries with CF-Root your trick finally got my S3G with I9300XXDLIB rooted! :good:
I wanted to post a question about this in CF-Root forum, but since I'm new I don't have rights to post there, but your advice definitely belongs there.

[Q] please help phone won't trun on

I have a rooted galaxy s2, I was on a custom rom and decided to restore the stock one. then I flashed siya kernel because it was shutting down randomly. then I opened superSU app after it updated automatically on the market. it asked to update (and something about binary) choosing normal update or using cmw or twrp if oono a custom rom. I chose the cmw or twrp by accident and said that if the phone didn't reboot into rrecovery I have to do it manually
the phone **** down and when I try to turn it on it doesn't. the GALAXY S2 logo shows up then it turns black . I also tried to boot it into recovery and it didn't work either. so what's the problem and how can I fix it
Download mode work? Flash stock with odin
Or flash siyah in odin then boot to recovery and do a factory reset

odin can't recognize the phone
even though I installed the usb drivers and kies
I guess it's because I can't enable usb debugging since the phone doesn't turn on
any other idea?
Check out @Hopper8 thread for odin trouble
No need for usb debugging for an Odin flash. As andrewwright said, click the link in my signature and follow the troubleshooting steps.

If you don't have a nandroid backup, then you will need to reflash the stock firmware via Odin and start over.
I didn't make a nandroid backup but it doesn't bother me much about losing data. I tried using Odin but I can't seem to understand how to use it.

There are a zillion guides around here, YouTube, etc on how it works. It's basically the same for almost any Samsung.
Download the appropriate firmware for your phone / carrier / region
Install drivers, if needed
Open Odin as Admin
Plug phone in Download Mode to PC
Odin should register phone as COM:XX where XX could be any numbers
Load the firmware in the PDA or AP slot, depending on which Odin version being used
After file is checked, hit Start
Wait patiently
Phone should reboot on it's own
If phone bootloops after successful flash, then reboot to the stock recovery and perform a factory data reset
