I have miui le 5.1 with glitch v12 and i tried all 3 versions of it but cant oc past 1500 everytime i goto 1600-1700 it freezes or i get a black screen
any help?
That's not unusual at all. Most Galaxy S phones are unstable past 1440, much less 1600 and above. I can't get past 1300mhz unless I'm using Glitch ML.
If you followed the instructions in the Glitch Kernel developer thread, specifically with attempting to undervolt for stability, and you still can't get anything over 1500mhz stable, then it's likely your CPU isn't capable of being stable above 1500mhz. Heck, I can't get 1500mhz stable myself, but I can get 1400mhz stable with 75uv to boot.
Just out of curiosity, but why do you want to Overclock that far? Can't imagine any games built for the Galaxy S would lag above 1ghz. Just want to see if you can, perhaps?
Consider yourself lucky. Oh, and drinks are on the house!
thanks! i got 1600 stable its just i want to play ff8 on psx4droid and everything is perfect but it lags at certain spots but thanks soo much for your reply! its truly appreciated
Bah! Forget using a PSX Emulator on your phone. Do what I did when I played FF8 for the first time. Plug your computer into your TV, plug a Logitech Rumblepad 2 into your computer, load up the emulator with all the enhancing effects like Shaders and HQ4, set up a quicksave and quickload button, and go to town
I've had my tp for a while but have yet to do much with it. I plan on putting some version of android eventually. Do I have to overclock for both OS? Should I just overclock webos and just go from there?
You don't *have* to overclock, however you have the option to.
I have just my Android system using any overclocking, through SetCPU. My WebOS system is still pretty stock.
Changes to the clock speed under WebOS will not effect the android install. They are 2 different operating systems with their own boot loader. I have found that running at stock speeds under android and webos provides good performance. Overclocking is great if you want to run very intense games but most run quite well at stock speeds. Remaining at stock speed also improves battery life.

In webOs, I use Uberkernel @ 192 min and 1.7 max. In android, I use master cpu (free app in market), to set speed @ 384 min and 1.7 max.
I get about 7+ hours in webOs and a little less in android with normal (not heavy) use.
Do a search for overclock and you'll find plenty of info on the subject.
You don't have to overclock, but I find it makes the TP smoother and faster. My opinion.
I know I dont have to overclock but it does seem a little laggy with WebOS for some things
thanks for the input guys
Hey guys, as you know, Titanium-Backup Pro can freeze apps, thus stopping them from running in the background.

The most memory I could get free was 203MB with nothing running except...
Settings @ 10mb
GO Launcher EX @ 19MB
Task manager @ 7.4MB
SNS @ 0.00B
GO Keyboard @ 11MB
____________________________________________________
I get around 203MB of free RAM this way... Which works great for games like Modern Combat 3 or other RAM heavy games/apps.
Does anyone know if one of the things I froze is bad to freeze? Or of any other items we could freeze to get the most optimal amount of RAM possible for this device? I'm curious to see if we can see a stable 210MB+ of RAM (with nothing running).
What results do you guys get?
Go to running and stop the go launcher I always stop it and it frees a bit

I wonder how stable it is your device after you freeze all those components in every day use.
And another question, I see you have it overclocked to 1.5 Ghz, again, how stable it is?. And, what voltage modifications and governor do you use for that kind of overclock?
Thank you, it is good to see a topic related to maximize resources in this gem.
I have RAM Manager and it works pretty well if you also have a task manager.

It seems pretty stable. I haven't come across any issues thus far. The roughly 200mb of free RAM makes playing Shadowgun so smooth with 4xMSAA enabled. Clocking it to 1.5GHz prior also smooths the fps out a good bit too.
Shadowgun (without 4xMSAA and 1.5GHz) = Very high, probably 50-60fps
Shadowgun (with 4xMSAA and 1GHz) = Significantly lower fps, probably around 20fps
Shadowgun (with 4xMSAA, 200mb of RAM free prior, 1.5GHz) = Pretty good fps, probably around 30-40fps or so.
Oh and my 1.5GHz clocked profile is...
ondemand, 100~1500MHz
L0 1500MHz - 1350mV - 1150mV
L1 0800MHz - 1200mV - 1100mV
L2 0400MHz - 1050mV - 1100mV
L3 0200MHz - 0950mV - 1100mV
L4 0100MHz - 0950mV - 1000mV
I've had no stability issues with this profile so far. I usually only use it for intense gaming like Shadowgun (since it uses a ton of special effects/resources) in order to obtain a smooth framerate. I also use it for Modern Combat 3 and Order & Chaos. On a non-gaming note; It seems to make the OS run MUCH faster, GOLauncher seems very speedy as well + fluid transitions.
I've had it at 1.5GHz all day and while battery did drop a bit, it was very speedy and usable during the time I used it (occasionally over a work day).
I've probably had this profile for about a month or so now, and nothing has crashed or frozen due to it.
This might work
Personally I just rooted my SGP player 5.0 and downloaded a custom rom. The custom rom I had had an auto task killer or whatever it was called, which automatically freed up memory. This helps so much because in the stock rom I had to always go to the task maager.

Thank you for the response, I'm gonna try your profile to see if how it works for me. And if I burned it, I'll send you the receipt...

Lol you won't burn it at 1.5Ghz, but at 2GHZ.... that's another story. Lets just say I was showing off how the slider went to 2GHz and hit apply on accident. The screen instantly dissolved, in the way an old Gameboy Color would when you turned it off (image burn?). Luckily it reboot shortly afterwards and seemed fine. That was about 2 months ago. So uh... yeah. 1.5 is stable, 1.6 worked, but I haven't tested it enough yet.
I'm testing 1.4 for now using your voltage values from 1.5
I'll keep it like that for a few days and then i will ramp it up to 1.5
Also, this is REALLY weird, maybe I'm just crazy and/or ignorant, but every time I install a new ROM, the last thing I do is change the DPI value from 240 to 200, and when I reboot the device, everything becomes faster, noticeable faster and smoother, have anyone else noticed that?

I'll go ahead and confirm that you can clock from 1.1-1.3GHz without changing anything other than the clock speed. 1.4Ghz+ is where I'd apply the 1.5Ghz profile I use currently.
And no, it doesn't head up much during intense gaming; At least not for me.
what should I put in voltage and all that in 1.2 Ghz and in the set CPU

For 1.2Ghz, just use the stock values. No need to adjust them until 1.4Ghz+

I was wondering if anyone can push this tablet to the limited at 1.6 or 1.8 GHZ please I would love to see this tablet running at that speed
I was wondering the same thing. +1 vote!
I see that the motorola XOOM have OC ability higher than us when we got similar hardware. Even though it may bring with it instability, im sure some of us would like to try higher OC ability!
Come on is there anyone can come with high overclock kernel for this tablet please
Pershoot makes the kernel everyone uses. You can ask him, but unless you want to do it yourself, don't complain or make demands.
NO COMENT
nex person please
At 1.4 my tablet can get a little on the warm side, when watching films or playing games- I can imagine at 1.8 it would almost fry.
Since I don't want to sit in the fridge every time I watch a film, 1.4 is fast enough for me
Which tablet you using right now?

Hello all,
I was watching a movie on my Tab 10.1 running JellyBeanRomICS v8 with Yoda kernel v2.4 overclocked at 1600MHz. Approximately 20 minutes into the movie my tablet turned off. I think it was due to overheating issue because my tablet felt extremely hot. Thankfully, I was able to turn it back on. My question is, is it safe to continue to watch movies while my tablet is overclocked?
If it matters any the movie I was watch is 960MB 1280x536 .mp4.
Also, the reason why I overclocked is because the movie is choppy/laggy when it is in stock speeds.
I wouldn't overclock to that high if it were me. The most our tab can go is 1.4GHz only. Anything higher will be extremely unstable.

Ditto eushaun99. Overclocking that high not advisable as the tab has tried to warn you by getting hot!
What video player you using? HW or SW? Maybe try another one or other settings to get round lag/stutter...
