I decided to revert my S3 to stock firmware after trying out different JB roms so after flashing XXALE8 (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610 ) via mobile odin, wiping data and cache then factory resetting i got the message " messaging not working" After checking *#1234# I got AP:19300XXALE8 CP:19300XXLE8 CSC:Unknown (see screenshot) then after checking *#272*IMEI# this showed up (see screenshot 2) I've even tried it with 19300 XXBLG8 and have the same problem. Messaging work ok using Omega ICS and JB roms Cyanogen mod 9 and 10 super Nexus builds 2 and 3 and also various Samsung JB test firmware. I have even downloaded the separate csc tar files and flashed them with mobile odin. If anyone has an idea how to solve my problem i will be very greatful. Oh and the reason I have been using mobile odin is because i run Linux and odin doesn't work via wine.
Everytime i revert back to stock this happens to me i just flash stock rom two or three times and it sorts itself out. Dont know why it does and theres no technique it just does

Thanks I will give it a try
You can also try flashing just the CSC. If you have just one file with the whole rom, just load it in Mobile Odin and clear everything except cache and hidden (that is the CSC).
i tried flashing the csc via mobile odin too :/
Why bother changing CSC if the phone works .
jje
I don't want to change the csc, I want it to work and therefore sms messaging to work. Everything else is fine with the phone

Usual reason for that is wrong network details /APN or wrong message centre number .
CSC is not required for SMS to work .

oh i thought they were connected, sorry if my thread title was misleading. For now, have reflashed Super Nexus and sms is working but will re try stock rom and look into APN/ message centre number when I have more free time.
found out the problem was in fact mobile odin, after the latest update earlier today, I re tried and everything flashed smoothly without any trouble.

Hello,
I put the stock firmware of my S3 for the waranty but now I have an "CSC : unknown"
I have tried many firmware but can not restore the situation !!
Do you have an idea?
Thank you in advance
go to the phone dialer and input : *#272*(IMEI)#
Then choose your default CSC.
The phone will reboot and reformat your phone, so make sure all data has been backed up.
Thanks for your reply..but i have only one CSC "AUT"
I try another stock firmware !
Stock roms thread CSC post flash CSC .

I tried this when I used the suggested firmware downloaded from Fuscheck (BTU) I'm on O2.
When I typed it in on the keypad I got BTU displayed, clicked it and install, then I got an error saying something like 'must be at least THREE'
It won't install I managed to resolve the situation by downloading and flashing a firmware from Sam-Mobile, but I don't understand my issue, every time I want to upgrade my firmware I have to completely wipe the phone,. (OK I have titanium backup) but that's not the point. Surely there is a way of ODIN flashing a new firmware then re-rooting, without factory reset every time.
Is Fuscheck the best place to get the firmware upgrade?
Any suggestions/ ideas on my situation would be grateful, I can't really be spending half a day trying to unbrick the phone every time there's a update
Joe
You can download roms from www.sammobile.com/firmware. Thats where I get them from. Install with Odin v3 3.0.4.
If you are rooted you can flash firmware with Mobile Odin Pro and keep root.

Thanks for that. Helpful post.
I normally use Odin on my PC, and just flash through PDA.
I am rooted so is it just a case of flashing firmware from Sammobile then rooting the phone again (I use CF Root)
Hey,
I'm having data dropouts using CheckROM V2, I'm on Three UK (H3G) and I've tried a ton of different modems including returning to NELE4 which came with stock but still my H+ fails to kick in and stalls my connection.
I want to return my CSC to stock which I believe is I9300H3GALE4 in the hopes these may improve things
Can I download this package separately and flash it without wiping my phone or can I extract it from a stock rom?
You can replace the CSC folder and SW- Conf and CSC version text in the custom rom with whatever you choose or no CSC at all .
If you want to extract from stock rom suggest Wannams stock if your CSC is in it otherwise you will need to rip Cache Image .

Thanks JJEgan for taking the time to answer,
Are you saying I can take the required CSC folder and replace the one on my phone using say root explorer? Will this then update my CSC or have I missed important steps? / bricked my device?

No i meant in the custom rom before flashing or reflashing . No idea about doing it on a live rom . Wont brick it and if you have a Nandroid backup no problem to restore .

Im on three UK & have had no issues with ALF2 stock i cant see CSC causing H+ problems although i could be corrected i think its more of an OTA update & Kies issue, CSC is editable in the EFS folder, i cant remember the file, check my previous posts its in there, dont know of any possible side effects but i havent seen any yet

After I flash my I9300 with different firmware's (LUXALE5, DBTALE5, PHNALE4, EURALE1 XXALE8) when I start the phone I get this:

2.TouchWiz has stopped
3.Contacts has stopped
I cant' do anything with phone because he move to slow. The only firmware without problems is the last update from samsung XXBLFB but in Kies he told me that this version it will not update in kies.
Why I get that errors and what is the solutions??? In the picture is the old firmware before to update to XXBLFB but not working without that errors anymore! I don't know from were to take that version from picture to work
I'm from Romania, sorry for my english

YES, flash with Odin. And if I do that it will work?
First question i would ask is have you got a genuine I9300 International model .
Second if you flash with many firmwares you often have a problem Totally Confused Rom Flashers Syndrome .
Likewise Kies does not know what your phone is .
1.Unfortunetely, the process android.process.acore has stopped.
2.TouchWiz has stopped
3.Contacts has stopped
Are all symptoms of a bad flash .

Clean Slate for those that balls up the firmware .
Backup data first if phone is working .
Boot CWM recovery
Mounts and Storage
Format cache data system sd card .
Remove battery
Boot to download mode
Open Odin
Install correct stock firmware .

I just take the firmware's from sammobile or xda and just flashed and I get that error's. Only this firmware XXBLFB it's ok without any errors.

I've try what you told me and is the same thing....still get that error's. Can you give me please a link to a good stock rom to try install and see if it's the same thing with error's?
Another problem is that in QUADRANT I get only 2200 !!!!
Do factory reset from cwm and reboot.
Go to samfirmware.com for stock rom LG6 is latest, but use lg1 that is fully supported here
To get root and cwm,go to cf-root thread and flash it from Odin..
but READ before flashing, to avoid problems

I have the same problem.
I flashed XXLG6 but I lost SIM unlock.
So I tried to flash some older roms, but every time I get the same error like you.
Only rom that works is XXLG6.

Ok so LG6 it's ok? But wich one I must get for Romania?
The answer lies in post 4 and 8, look for a Romanian rom on www.sammobile.com/firmware and flash it with Odin. After that do a data/factory reset in backup and restore.
I don't know, FOR ME works only XXLG6.
I have a problem just like you, with this rom I can not use my phone because SIM is locked, and I can not flash any older rom because I get that error every time.
I hope someone knows how to solw the problem.

Hi.
The simplest way to sort out this issue is just click on settings - Application Manager - All - Contacts (Open Contacts and clear data and clear cache) - Contacts Storage (Open it and clear cache and clear data).
I faced same error after reverting back to XXBLFB from XXLG8. I flashed the LFB FW via odin. Even after clearing the Dalvik Cache and Cache via CWM the problem was not sorted out. This error is related to contacts sync. So once you clear this cache and data of contacts from given path, this error wont come again.
You have to act between the gap of this error flash. But it saves u from reformatting the whole device. Just little patience and the problem is sorted out.
I have done this by mistake in the past using odin but I can't understand why it didn't work.
I have now a phone from Australia apparently and kies is not very helpful. I already have the BTU ELLA update but I'm not sure if it would work flashing that with odin. In the past it didn't work and I had to reflash the correct update.
Am I supposed to flash more than just the PDA?

No, just place the correct rom in PDA and flash it. The phone however has a specific sales code and if the installed firmware differs from the device`s country code Kies will not support updates. Only if you have the correct regional rom for your S3.
Thanks.
In the past I had used a BTU Tom instead of the vodafone specific on a i9300 and it had lost the notification bar and touzhwiz crashed.
Once I installed the vodafone specific rom it went back to normal.
I have now come across the ELLA update on a Australian import s3 and just flashed it with kies. Trouble I have with that now is that the bottom shortcuts somehow are stuck and wont be replaced. I will try and reflash the rom tomorrow with odin and if it doesn't work I'd like to try the international version of 4.1.2.
Did you wipe your device after flashing the firmware?
Some carriers do only than little modifications to the device and may cause incompatibilites with the standard roms.
How do I do a complete wipe?

Go to settings, backup and restore and do a data facory reset.
Ah you mean a factory data reset.
When I do that the australian version adds 2 apps which are easily removed and I cannot see anything else there. I also have another issue.
Odin 3.04 does not see my phone. Only odin 1.85 can.
But even that version says that the md5 file I downloaded from sammobile is invalid.
I am going to try this with mobile odin
Right
Tried the btu version with mobile odin and again have the same issue. Notification panel is gone and the touchwiz doesn't work properly.

You have to reset after you flashed the rom. Did you reset the flash counter with Triangle Away?
Update
Retried the btu md5 but selected to wipe data and cache from mobile odin pro.
It seems to be working now
I all,
I am having problems with the CSC on my wife's SGS3. She was sent a German version S3 (twice) as a replacement for a damaged phone from her insurance company.
This has a CSC code of DBT
As the CSC list (using *#272*imei#) only contained DBT, I flashed the phone using odin with official LLA-JellyBean (CSC-Code BTU) so I could put it as a UK handset.
Now when I plug it into kies i get this:
YOUR DEVICE'S CURRENT FIRMWARE VERSION IS NOT SUPPORTED TO UPDATE FIRMWARE VIA KIES
CURRENT FIRMWARE VERSION: PDA:LLA / PHONE:LLA / CSC:LLA (DBT)
(Cant remember off hand what it was but it wasn't LLA prior to the flash)
I have tried all i can think of to correct this.
When i run the *#272 thing it comes up:
USSD CODE RUNNING
then:
UNKNOWN APPLICATION
I have tried the Samsung Galaxy S / S2 /S3 CSC app from play store, again I get message when I run it:
UNKNOWN APPLICATION
I have gone into recovery mode and get the following (in yellow beside the droid icon):
#MANUAL MODE#
--APPLYING MULTI CSC
APPLIED THE CSC-CODE: DBT
SUCCESSFULLY APPLIED MULTI-CSC
I have also tried WIPING DATA CACHE and FACTORY RESET from recovery mode
None of this has made any difference, (all done in the order as I have listed it above) please could somebody point me in the right direction before I pull out what remaining hair I have left.

Thank you djembey. Rather than uninstall kies and risk losing backups (couldnt be bothered to find files and move them) including for my own S3, I ran the flash from my wife's laptop. I plugged phone in first so drivers installed then phone flashed successfully.
However the CSC has remained DBT even though I flashed the BTU version

I think there is somewhere a thread with flashable csc packages or you could try the csc changer app (will format your phone though).
