Legend CPU Question - Legend Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I have currently the CM9 and there you can overclock the CPU around.
How far can I safely overclock high sodas because everything is still stable?

Try it out!Every phone is different.
I can't even overclock to 768MHz

Me neither...:crying:

786Mhz works fine for me ^^ Unless I plug in the car charger AND use GPS. Then it overheats and reboots

I usualy keep it at 787MHZ, but i`ve had it at 806MHz and even on 825MHz and i had no problems. Only...i don`t really see the reason why to overclock it so much. I`ve never had the need of it so far.

I have mine at 768MHz and I've only gotten a random reboot once or twice.

and strangely after flashing CM10 alpha I've gotten three reboots today at 768MHz... Maybe it was because of the different governor
I'll put it back to ondemand and see how it goes now.

My GF's Legend works flawlessly at 768Mhz under CM7.2, although she never uses GPS nor play games for a long time so I can't be sure it wouldn't heat up too much under heavy use.

Limited OC Available (1.2 GHZ)

I found this link to a working kernel hidden in the "Port Captivate Froyo" thread. It allows limited Overclocking up to 1.2 GHZ. Others (including myself) have applied this via Clockwork and it is working great. I by no means take any credit for this. Just trying to put the info out there.

What governor should I use? Interactive? Do I even need SetCPU? I don't want to change anything but the max clock speed if I don't. I find that it scales itself really well. Plus I don't wanna lose a lot of battery life.

I use SetCPU. Min 200 Max 1200 Conservative. I believe Daswolven and others are using these same settings. You may have to clear cache for SetCPU if you already have it installed. jt said do not use ondemand. Performance also seems to be working fine.

I guess I will then. Is there a noticeable speed difference? I'm copying now but I wanna hear from someone who's using it.

I loaded this kernel last night its pretty sweet. no issues runs really smooth so far. I have left it on conservative also, overall seems alot snappier. No battery issues yet, actually bout the same.
I have noticed a difference. Im getting slightly better Quadrant scores. My phone seems a bit snappier. Its definately a start.

Lag fix, and this kernel. The lag fix has made a noticeable difference in performance. Not on Quadrant, just doing anything. So I like to use it.

Kudos and thumbs-up to JT1134!!!
The ONLY drawback I've seen to this kernel is a slightly accelerated battery drain. Still way better than when i was running stock with Lookout...
JT1134 and Dirrk are both working hard, and we're all gonna benefit!
Also, I've noticed that things tend to go more smoothly when SetCPU is not set to start at boot...
Haha I was one of the ones who flashed it right away too, d12183 on the irc too
I am running this with a min. 100 max. 1200 conservative, no profiles. No problems yet, and battery is actually not looking much different.
Benefit of conservative governor, steps up to use.

LG-P500 overclock freezes screen

Hello,
I have installed the Megatron Rom and the Mik_OS Kernal. When I SetCPU the device to 768MHz+ the phone will freeze after 30 seconds. The screen goes black for a second and then the screen turns on again and the brightness is slightly brighter and the whole phone is frozen and I can't do anything . I have to take the battery out and put it in again to fix the problem. Right now I am running on 748MHz and sometimes 729MHz.
Please help me fix the freezing problem.
Thanks
thats called a kernel panic. sometimes your phone cannot handle the frequency that you set and when that happens, your phone freezes (or reboots or shuts down). if you want to be able to overclock to a higher frequency, try flashing another kernel
I found that on my wifes phone I can't overclock past 748 or else it has problems. My phone is stable at 768, same models. I guess it's just the way different phones behave.

I have installed the Franco Kernel but when I reboot the phone it says that it is overheated and it shuts down. I have rebooted several times and it still doesn't work. I am immediately changing the custom kernel.
Hye i hve an official gingerbread 2.3.3 V20d rom(rooted) and i wan. To overclock my optimus one, do i need a custom kernel to do that? Im new to this so pls guide me

thnks, can u suggest me the custom kernel for the stock rom? and do i need custom recovery?
you need a rooted phone and a kernel that works with the stock rom you are on.
most kernels only seem to work with some custom roms. But you search and you will find
I ran 480mhz and 729mhz for the longest time with no issues.
Right now I'm at 122mhz and 480mhz (longer battery life), and the fact that I'm not running games or intensive graphics or anything.
ROM

Which rom do u use??? the stable 1 u had mentioned at 768MHz???
768mhz is just too high, the most stable and highest clock for our p500 is 729max and 691min
I tried 768 for a day and the mother board burnt the other day.

Oh, oops, I've been running my p500 at 768mhz for the last 4 months and apart from the battery draining 1% a minute and the battery temperature reaching 38C° it doesn't crash, I tried 787mhz but it crashed in the first 10 seconds.

How many marks you get in Quadrant Standard?

I got 2461 with stock rom @ 1Ghz
I got 2376 with stock rom @ 1gh via quadrant advanced...
pretty much same , 24xx ... bye the way, what is your choice on governer? interactive or ondemand?

3800+? How did you get that high?
I'm running SGT 10.1 rooted/In Parisv4/Pershoot's kernel and OC @1.4 or so I thought. I read this and opened Quadrant Standard. Ran it and got 1829. I noted this was about the same as those running at 1Ghz and knew something wasn't right. I went into SetCPu and checked "set at boot" rebooted the tab, and my scores are now much betta:
2941
3069
3069
3063
not bad, but based on the advice in the SETCPu setup guide and my experience as an original/gangster of PC overclocking (Celery Sandwich will likely tell my age) this not be any issue at all, for the SGT10.1, but if you start seeing weird ()&(^$# THEN BACK IT DOWN, RINSE, REPEAT AT A LOWER FREQUENCY, if the problem can't be reproduced there it's likely due to instability between frequencies of CPU and main memory. Bottom line step your oclock up slowly until you hit repeatable instabilities/errors/crashes, and then back it down.
Anyone know off the top of their head an app to monitor the temperature of the CPU? I get the battery temp from inside Set CPU along with a lot of great info except my CPU temp, which is typically important for OC'ers.

How many people are stable at 1.6ghz?

Hey, so just like the title says are you stable at 1.6ghz do a little test run quadrent on your phone and than if it passes your probably good but also try 10mins of angry birds just to make sure i on the other hands cannot run quadrent at 1.6ghz
No problems here, but every CPU is different. I've seen some people use 1.5ghz instead

I'm stable at 1.5 (1350mV), though I don't run it at that daily. It was covered in steve's init thread in development. Look in the last few pages.
i run antutu all the time at 1.6 with no problems. guess i got lucky
Ok just gave my 1600mhz 50mv more and its stable now so i can finally overclock a little higher when needed
Stable only to [email protected] here. Locks up after that.

Mine overclocks to 1.6 with no issues at all. I ran it like that for weeks until I decided that I want longer battery life. The stock speed is still fast, and underclocking still results in acceptable responsiveness.
I use Tasker to overclock my phone when playing certain intensive games. Otherwise, my phone is usually underclocked.
Mine's never crashed at 1.6, but I don't really stress test it there besides with benchmarks.
Mine locks up at 1.4Ghz. Each one is different i guess..
Stable at 1.6 with custom kernels or tegrak on stock kernel. UV too.

I am very stable at 1.6
I have never had any issues at 1.6 and that is on just about every rom. I dont ever keep it at that cuz i dont enjoy sucking my battery but it is definitely fun to show off to others, HAHA! Also I have a captivate and the highest it would let me overclock it was 1.7 and that is ridiculous but it was unstable. lol
I've found a way to make almost every setting I have tried relatively stable. You just have to keep tweaking. It's not as simple as getting an overclock app and maxing. Here are some screen shots I took of a recent bench. This is only at 1632. I customized a I9100 ICS rom to be fully functional on my I777 and I'm scoring higher just above 1600 than I was closer to 1700. I was ranked 720 but those transformer primes! I wish it was only mobile phones on the chart! lol
Mine is stable at 1.6.......but im like everyone else. Don't like watching my battery drop like the ball at times square on new years eve lol .mine seems pretty happy at 1.4 with some under volting

SetCPU for Root Users

I am rooted, have CWM recovery installed and running the stock ROM. I want to overclock to get better performance and was thinking of using this app. Anybody else using this app with a setup similar to mine? Is the stock CPU set at 1.2ghz?
I guess I could flash SAUROM ROM and get overclocking that way...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
I believe stock is 1.5 you can run saurom which has the oc kernel in it or just flash the oc kernel by itself or just oc stock. Set CPU is good I used it on my s2 just make sure you backup before you oc so you can restore if it becomes unstable. Also don't change the setting to apply on boot till you know its stable.
Myself and most others find that 1.83 is about as high as you can go and remain stable

I got it when I first bought the phone. The default setting was 1.2 GHz. I'm not sure if that's how the phone is set or the program default. The only thing I use it for now is changing the governor when the screen is off to save battery and even that function is duplicated by Juice Defender. I really haven't spent much time with it however, so there could be more to it than I am aware of.

anybody changing the voltages?
i believe stock is actually 1.4. ive rooted and flashed saurom and use setcpu close to 1.8 with zero issues. overclocking is where its at
i use setcpu on stock rom and dagkernel 0.2 ,set to 1.83 very stable and smooth..
I have only found stability at 1.7 and this thing is flying. Kept having soft reboots when doing lots of things at once. Kept dialing it down until it stopped doing that. 1728 is where I'm at and couldn't be happier.
