Syncing music - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI all.
I'm having a issue when syncing music to my phone that even tho there in albums, it's splitting them up so I end up with 3 albums each containing a few track.
Tried syncing by kies and by putting the albums in folders onto my external sd.
Anyone got any ideas how to stop it doing this?

Most likely due to id3 tags. Check it out in a different player. If it does the same thing, might need to re tag your music.

Thanks for the reply,
All my music are mixtapes so that maybe the problem.
Just 're added them all and now my phones seeing them in some UN readable file.
It's doing my head in now-the one thing I miss about apple is the ease to add music to your device without a problem

Contacts sync ?

So I just noticed that whenever I add a new contact its not being synced and added to my Google contacts .. whenever I added a contact on my nexus it automatically added it to Google contacts. How come it doesnt on the tbolt?

I am seeing the same thing... My droid always uploaded everything and now my Thunderbolt doesn't. The Apps don't go to the Cloud either. It says when I setup the google account that it's going to sync but I don't see it doing anything. I reformat nothing comes back....

Seems there's often a delay between the syncing of Google and my backup.
Sometimes when flashing roms ill get all my contacts at once other times it seems to take awhile.
Best option is to export your contacts to sdcard occasionally.

Well that's dumb. Does anyone have a solution?

I noticed this too. Not sure why this is happening. Maybe the GB build does not have the Google sync functionality working properly?

I suggested a solution, export contacts to sdcard.

That kind of defeats the purpose of an android phone then.. its made so everything is synced with google regardless of which device you are using
Hm, im not using a GB build, im using perfect storm weird

I was having this issue as well, and read about it somewhere on here.
Google.com/contacts is your friend. Use it.
If you input a contact, via the phone, make sure you change it from a "phone" contact to a "Google" contact.
Problem solved. ;-)

Ah thanks, for some reason if you add a contact from another app it would default to the "phone" contact option with no option to change to google.
Thanks

Is there a way to make the Google way default?

Walkman doesn't see music files

Hey all,
My walkman app doesn't show all my songs in the Music folder on my sdcard.
But when I check with ES File Explorer they are definitly there.
Any help would be aprecciated.

Delete android folder from your sd card and reboot.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
didn't work
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
there are like 400 songs in there but walkman only displays 260
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
Go to settings, apps, all
Click on Media Storage
Clear Data
The walkman will rebuild the music list, but it will take at least 30 minutes before any songs will show up again, with many files even longer.

Make sure those songs are playable with the Android framework. MP3, FLAC and Vorbis are all supported, some AAC variations might be supported too.
They are, I played them all before, ot started when i restored a nandroid

Play music instant mix question

I can't seem to figure out how to create an instant mix from a song using the android app. Is this possible?

It's possible. Just go to the "Now playing" window and press the settings icon in top right corner of the display. The first first menu item on the drop down list will allow you to create and play an instant mix based on the current song. The instant mix will now show "Playlists".
You can also go to "Songs" and press the triangle in the bottom right corner of a track and create it from there.
Thanks but I don't see the instant option anywhere. I see add to playlist but that is just a normal playlist with the album or song added to it.

That's weird. When I'm looking at the exact same screen as your screendump, I have the option just below "Add to queue". What version of Play Music are you on?

So, all your songs are stored locally and have not been uploaded? That's the reason - they need to be uploaded in order for an instant mix to be created.
Makes sense. Thanks for the help

Anyone know how to stop Google Music from automatically creating Instant Mixes? I've never created one myself, yet when I go to my Google Music main page, there are several Instant Mixes that appear. I've tried looking through the settings, as well as searching online, but am unable to figure out what is causing this. Any help would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks very much.

Sync music

I've been using itunes and copy and paste the updated folder to sd. Sucks. Not efficient.
I'm trying out winamp and it is copying music to sdcard\music. I want it in ext_sd\music instead. I haven't seen an option to change the directory.
Is there an app that will sync my music to the folder I want?

I've heard isyncr is decent idk from experience, I just use HTC sync for my music
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Get drop sync pro. It makes Dropbox on your phone work like the desktop app. You choose the folders on both sides, the time intervals, etc. You can even delay syncs when you're not charging or not connected to wifi

You probably have some damaged file apk in ext card or int, media server try to read it but without success and thats why media have that much % You can dowload rescan media from play store and shut down media scan, then see will that helps

Isn't that the media SCANNER process? To fix that, format sdcard. Rescan media is not a good solution.
This is the media downloads app....
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4
Thank you very much.I will format the sd card but I want to keep some files so how can I know what files not to keep?
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
Delete all thumbnail files (including hidden) then backup to pc. Format then copy back.
Can't guarantee that fixes it though because that's media SCANNER we're talking about. MEDIA is the downloads app. You can simply clear app data on downloads and pull the battery for 10 minutes, which may fix it
