One day, playing some ball hockey outside, i check my phone cause i got a text and i see this. It was fine before i started shooting around in my front yard...i didn't fall or anything. What should I do? Does my warranty cover it? Everything works like a charm like before except for the glass.

Well what the hell do you expect? Only an idiot leaves a device like this in their pocket while playing any type of sport or running around etc. No sympathy.
I very much doubt your warranty will cover it.

I was barely moving, i was just shooting around with my friend..How much would it cost to replace the glass?
If youre confident enough, there are youtube vids that give step by step instructions to replace a cracked screen. Doesn't look too easy though. You can get a replacement screen on eBay for USD 8. (Screen only. I'm assuming your digitizer is intact)
Needless to say getting it fixed professionally is safer, but much more expensive. You could ask your service centre for a quote before deciding whether or not to take the plunge.
Good luck

Yeah my digitizer and lcd and working fine..Thx alot for your advice!
Reading up its probably not a good idea to get the panel but get the whole thing apparently its a nightmare for even a technician to do its best just to get a whole new lcd screen with digitizer. I have the same predicament but only month left on contract so im waiting it out.

I was so happy with my Note. Great battery life, fast response, minimal/no black crush... and then something caught my eye when I loaded up the Google Play app. For a split second while the background was changing, I noticed the faint imprint of the "Texting and driving it can wait" sticker that comes affixed to the phone when I first bought it. I thought I was seeing things.
Then I loaded up the S-Memo app where it has a tan background and is easy to see screen damage. I deleted my s-memos to get a clear picture of the screen, and sure enough I clearly see the entire imprint of the sticker that comes affixed to the phone. I tried cleaning it, rubbing it, yelling at it, and nothing made it go away, It's permanent. I don't even drive!
What the hell?! Has anyone else noticed this? Try it -- go into your S-memo app and delete enough of your picture memos so the tan background is showing. Anyone else have screen damage?
I apologize for the tone of my first post -- this is already my first replacement Note as the first had a dead/hot pixel cluster that was instantly visible upon powering up the phone.
Off to Best Buy tomorrow to get a replacement.
Edited to include a photo of the issue.

No inprint here.
Easy solution to this though, just take it back and get a new one. At least I hope it didnt take you more than 30 days to notice this.
im sorry.. that is HILARIOUS
you can get a new one though. do it up man. this phone is GREAT.
Lol.
Sent via tapatalk using the Samsung Galaxy Note
How does that even happen?
It's not residue on the screen is it?
Guess they were trying to get there point across lol. I would try Goo Gone before returning it.
Goo gone is sone amazing stuff, but I personally try to not use chemicals on any electronics anymore... too many companies are using exotic films on the glass these days. If your return wont be that hard, i'd just do that.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
wtf? How would that even happen? It's just a vinyl sticker!
Naw man, that's whack - go exchange it. I can't even imagine what that phone went through to get a permanent imprint from the sticker on it.
Er.... have you removed the sticker..???

You know your note is a really Smart phone if its trying to tell you something. On a serious note, hope you got an exchange from BB.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
How could this possibly happen? Because it's not like it's stencil letters, it comes on one vinyl strip
Only way I could see this happening is if you left the sticker on and set it outside in the sun for days
Exchange it!
Or try Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser
I would just replace it. Using any form of chemical or magic eraser could potentially cause damage, which could void your warranty. My experience with Best Buy exchanges, they are really good about it, as long as there is no damage to the device. It's not worth the risk. It sucks that this happned to you, but you have to admit, of all the possible flaws on a phone, you got the king of them all.

After seeing this thread I had to check mine (doesn't appear on mine).. That is one freakish issue and definitely should be exchanged.
Keep us informed on how you make out.
No way would I even attempt to clean it, just return it.
To answer some questions: Yes, I took the sticker off, but only after using it with it on for a couple days until my screen protector arrived. I was very careful about using it and, this may not show in the picture, but the ENTIRE protector is imprinted on the screen INCLUDING the border.
I truly have no idea what caused this, my only guess is a manufacturing defect. Off to Best Buy now. I'll report back with my non-cursed Note *knocks on wood*
Also, thanks to you all for the many lulz this thread has provided me in my "fist-world sorrow."

You're joking right? You used the phone with it on there for a couple of days and are wondering why the image is burned into your phone?? Even going as far as saying your not is cursed?
My guess: You left the TXT & Drive sticker on there while using it, and the heat generated from the phone on the screen made it rub off. (like iron on graphics on a shirt). To make it worse, you put a screen protector on it further locking in the imprint for several more uses.
Mystery solved?
I'm in school right now and go to pull out my phone from my pocket and my screen wouldn't turn on. I come to see little hairline cracks on my screen but not on my glass which is odd. OK, If you're not insured then you need to look at this video by Erica Griffin. Yes, this is for the GS3 but it really shouldn't be any different for the GS4. Her Vid on YouTube shows you how to replace the screen with digitizer and using all of the other parts from your current phone. It's actually a good video to see just so you know how easy this stuff is to do. The screen w/digitizer seems to run around $200 which is way better then $500-600 to buy a new phone outright. Just remember, I'm just giving you a cheaper option to fix it if you don't have insurance.

They claim that as long as they can't prove that the cracks were from impact there shouldn't be a problem. I'm afraid they might screw me over. But i mean the glass is completely fine and my sides have small nicks from previous small drops. im gonna try to unroot and wipe tomorrpw after school
My screen blacked out a week ago but been too busy to deal with it. Display comes through MHL onto my TV display so wonder do I need all parts mentioned? There's no crack in my display, but to my surprise the "moisture detector" sticker is tainted red (the big visible one, as I understand there are multiple stickers -- can someone confirm this to be correct?).
I may just take a risk and request replacement over the phone. Once or more in the past, I've had a warranty period issue replaced with the warning "...if its determined to be your fault, we will charge you the full retail price" and I've sent them bootloader unlocked, watermarked phones and they let it slide. There truly was no submersion or even open case exposure to water, I'm not sure how sensitive this particular sensor is to humidity or moisture through an enclosed back.
Anybody else surprised to see their "watermark" turn red when they feel it should not have been? From past experience having phones replaced via phone support, I'd wager they take my rooted, broken-display phone and never charge me for it.........................I been with VZW a decade and a half and then Bell Atlantic Mobile and planned in about 220-250 consistently for nearly a decade.........I'm not saying VZW is prone to show courtesy for longevity, but this could be 3-4 such instances in the smartphone era of questionable watermarks of rooted and flashed-to-hell Blackberries including blatant cracks...............

I literally just watched my phones screen shatter itself right in front of me. It was sitting on my desk next to my keyboard and I heard a cracking noise, so i looked over and the screen was super cracked. I went to pick it up, and when I did, the screen cracked even more and is a mess now. I've dropped my fair share of phones and iPods, and know what cracks like that look like (spiderwebbing out from a point), but this one looks nothing like that. The whole screen is messed up.
My questions are these:
1. Would Verizon provide me with a replacement phone because I didn't drop it (I doubt it)?
2. How hard would it be for me to replace my own screen/find parts to do so?
Thanks
P.S. I am trying to get my old DX2 to turn on so I can upload pictures of what it looks like.

It's been mentioned lots of times before. Look around you may even find a video or two on changing the screen.
With physical damage don't count on VZ replacing it in store.

I have watched the videos and such, but I am still super confused about what I need. The screen still works perfectly, all i want is a new glass front. Can I order one of the glass lens/digitizer combos and use that? Those are about 20 bucks, but if I get one with the LCD screen included (again, my screen works fine) it goes up to about 80, at which point I would just go with VZW and get it replaced for 99. I am really confident that I just need the lens/digitzer thing, but I have read things about the screen and digitizer being fused together and that is what confuses me.

NO!... The digitizer is bonded to the LCD and I've not seen one person successfully change just it. There's no reason it should even be sold.
The combo is the way to go and I'd go one step further and get the frame and adhesive for about an extra $25 just to not have to deal with separating it. That's the hardest part int eh videos.
Wait... Verizon charges $100? Is that through Assurion?

Hey everyone,
Just got back from the Verizon store. I decided to have the rep there put on my screen protector, so that if they did a bad job they would redo it. They did a great job putting the protector on, so i left and put a case on the phone in my car.
When i got home i was taking a closer look at the device and noticed scratches on the bottom half of the laser. Now I cant stop looking at it, although my girlfriend cant even notice them.
What would you guys do? I know its just a scratch, but painful to walk out of a store and already see damage on a device that i didnt cause. That being said, i know it will look ridiculous trying to point the scratch out if i go back in the store.

Call and get a replacement for a known problem, like the auxilary port doesn't work in most cars, etc.
Mine had the same scratches straight out the box from Verizon.
Are you living with it, or trying to get a replacement? there is a chance that maybe he didnt do it and it was that way out of the box in the case as well. Anyone else see this? the bottom 1/4 of the laser has scratches on it

I've been seeing a psychologist for my ocd for years and one of the biggest problems I have is "looking" for things wrong with phones I buy. His advice was to scratch whatever phone I buy in some way right away. He said eventually something like a drop could happen anyways. Nothing is perfect.

I do the same thing. Anything I buy or have has to be minty mint or it bothers me. Especially with phones I freak out when there's a scratch that for some reason only I can see.
Putting a little ding or scratch in helps stop obsessing. You should try it. Maybe it will help you also.

I broke mine. It was my fault, I'm not blaming it on spontaneous shattering. Whether that actually happens or not, I don't know, but I dropped my phone and it broke. Not severely, just one crack.... Right across the camera lens, so any pictures taken around bright lights/the sun have lovely spots in them due to light catching on the crack.
As it was clearly my fault (some very minor damage to the back as well), I'd have to pay the full price for repairing, which is prohibitively expensive. Local cell repair shops were unable to find the part for me, so I set out on a journey to find a replacement.
I finally found on, on Aliexpress, here: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/100-...using-with-3M-Sticker-Camera/32579389618.html
Now, of course, this may or may not be a "official" part, who knows. I'll update the post when I receive it, but I felt I'd share the link in case anyone - like me - had a damaged glass cover and couldn't take photos, and had no other good repair options.

Nice! I wonder if the glass and bottom comes already attached? From the repair videos I've saw, you have to remove those parts to get to the screws.
I'm pretty excited to see these show up though. I know the 6p is difficult to work on but the housing doesn't look too bad. It's good to have options especially when the back casing has a tendency to bend and crinkle. ?
I had to re seal my glass bar on the back of my nexus 6p and all I used was a hairdryer and a pick of some kind then stuck it back down and its been great since so it shouldn't be hard to replace a broken bar...

Nice find hope I don't need it tho!
my 2c - I dont think is an OEM part - as the description on Aliexpress says " 1 x for nexus 6p...", the "for" is the bit that makes me assume this is a third party part.
Now, it may be of comparable quality, I am not discrediting the product, but just calling it out. OP, please keep us all in the loop. Hope for you that its a high quality part.
It seems AlliExpress is out of them or something. Once I try to purchase one using this link it says page not found. If I don't use this link I cannot even find the item.
would love to see a write up of this if/when you change your glass or back cover.
I've just ordered one of these from Ali Express. If it seems like nothing happens when you click Buy Now or Add to Cart, make sure you've selected a color (even though there is only one color). $16.99 with free shipping, but will take between 15 and 40 days to get here.
I have to say, Huawei customer service is awful. I started the process of checking to see if I can get it repaired (under warranty or otherwise) last Sunday. I sent an e-mail to the address they gave me and included 7 pictures of the phone and proof of purchase, as instructed. When I called today (Friday) I was told I'd have to start the process over, so I sent another e-mail with 7 pictures of the phone. The approval process is supposed to take up to 72 hours. And if it isn't approved, I'm on my own. They don't do paid repairs. Fortunately, my phone still works. But what if it didn't? I'd be without a phone while waiting for these guys to tell me if they'll fix it or not. This puts a real damper on my attitude toward this phone, and toward Google. This is supposed to be a premium, flagship phone. Shame on Google, and shame on Huawei.

I'm not the OP, but I had my glass break as well. I didn't drop it, I honestly have no idea how it happened. I tried getting fixed under warranty... Pfft, waste of time. Huawei warranty in Canada Sucks. Anyway, I ordered from Global Direct Parts. As far as I can tell it is the original OEM part. Install was a breeze since it was cracked and easy to take out after heating it up.

Good to know that there is a replacement part available I might open my Nexus 6P soon to try something out I don´t like the stock cooling of the SoC to be honest and I´ve already improved my old Nexus 7 ( 2013 ) and Nexus 5 (2013) cooling.
I´m just scared that I might shatter the visor glass since this one looks really tough to remove..
thanks for the link.. might be useful in future
Think you can go through the steps of removing the broken lens (tools used, etc) and installing the new lens? Would be much appreciated as I'm waiting for my new lens to arrive and not really sure of how to go about the replacement. Thanks!
