yes you can. here is how to get s-on.
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
fastboot reboot-bootloader
*verify you are locked s-on
fastboot reboot
(you will need to load a non engineering hboot before doing the steps above.)

Yep, and as such, I highly recommend running the 3.14.605.12 RUU before doing those steps.

Also MAKE sure your not on an eng. Hboot when you turn s-on it would brick your phone.

load a non engineering hboot? I'm not faliluar "non engineering hboot".

An engineering hboot allows extended fastboot commands while locked...you can only run them when you're s-off. Just flash the OTA RUU before you run those commands and you'll be fine. That will get everything back to stock, hboot included.

easiest way to get the non engineering hboot its to ruu. that way you can minimized the risk of bricking when going back to s-on.
what you should do is this:
back up your rom.
back up your internal sd card.
flash ruu -3.14.605.12-
do the steps for s-on
check to make sure you are s-on
then you will be at 100% factory out of the box phone.
*** please make sure you are at 80% or higher on battery life and have some free time. this might take up to an hour to do successfully. ***

Why that RUU?

That's the one he suggested personally. Any fully stock ruu should be fine. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The only reason I suggested that particular one is that it is the current OTA. Flash it, and you'll be at the "official" versions on your hboot and radios.

Great thanks, This is what I got from this thread. Correct?
1. Flash latest RUU for Rezound
2. *ADB required*
a. adb devices
b. adb reboot bootloader
c. fastboot devices
d. fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
e. fastboot reboot-bootloader
f. fastboot reboot (verify you are locked s-on)

Correct. Good luck

This did loaded RUU and turned S-on but did not unlock. Tried this fastboot oem lock and that says "RELOCKED" not the same. It was worth a shot I guess.
While trying to reroot and get s-off I have managed to get things all jacked up. I am now S-on, Unlocked and Tampered. Is there a way out of this?

Anybody?

While in bootloader perform a factory reset. Then reboot phone. Now, you should be able to boot into recovery .

So you flashed the recovery in fastboot ? Didn't do a ph98img and leave it on the card ? Otherwise no idea everyone had that happen with the leak , but it was fixed by performing a factory reset in bootloader. Sorry , out of ideas.

Nope, i went from their modded hboot with the gb firmwire, how would i go about modding the ics one?
When you ran the ruu it replaced their hboot with the stock one. Look in the s-off thread for the juopunutbear hboot. It has the download for it and instructions. But be careful. Bad things can happen messing with hboot. I would recommend just unlocking again but it's up to you. If you do unlock I don't think there's a way for it to say locked again without turning s_on and running the s-off again

Thanks, im pretty sure i got it, Download the controlbear from the s-off tool and get the hboot, but... can anyone tell me the command to run? its like fastboot flash jhboot.img or something..
"fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip jb_hboot.zip
fastboot reboot"
Got it, thanks much for the help
you cannot use fastboot flash or fastboot boot with a stock, locked, hboot.
the download is an appropriate PH98IMG file. you can put on sd card, boot to hboot, say yes to update or:
put zip into folder with adb/fastboot
boot to fastboot
open cmd window
fastboot devices
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip <zipname>.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
verify the hboot changed
fastboot reboot
after you have the eng hboot, you can use fastboot flash to install the recovery if you want. you can also install the recovery exactly like above
to fastboot flash:
take image out of download, put inside folder with adb/fastboot utilities
boot to fastboot
open cmd window
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery <recoveryname>.img
fastboot reboot
note that the <zipname> and <recoveryname> must be exactly the same as what the image or zip inside your adb/fastboot folder is called.

Inside the firmware.zip it's the only file thats not an img
"hboot_8x60-lte_2.27.0000_120803_MR2.signedbyaa.nb0"
I flashed the firmware and still remained S-OFF just needed to dev-unlock again.... Either way just remove that file and you can flash without risking S-OFF /unlock
also becareful with the boot.img (kernel) unless you are running the stock OTA

Well if you install the newest hboot and need to run fastboot commands, you do need to unlock.
The Jbear 2.25 hboot works fine on this update if you need extended capabilities. I have flashed the jb2.25 and back to the stock 2.27, I made flashable zips for both stock 2.25 and the 2.27 hboots have flashed between them all on this Patch OTA.

To run an RUU, you will need to relock or get S-Off.
If you relock, you will, of course, need to reunlock after the RUU if you want root. If you get S-Off, you will never need to unlock, relock, S-On, or S-Off again.

No. You can ignore that iirc. Someone else can chime in as well, it's been a while for me, but I remember this coming up a long time ago - it happened to me too. It's happened to many people. You just relocked so you're still going to run the RUU? Should go away after you do.

Your phone won't boot with the security warning.. you have to run a full ruu now. Yes from hboot name it to PH98IMG and put it on your sd and boot to bootloader. It'll find it automatically and prompt you to run the update.

Yes, as famous said above. (But according to Con you should still be able to boot now. I don't remember if I ever booted with that warning, I doubt it as I was probably relocking just to run the RUU and had no need to boot up.)
I edited my post above, you must have quoted me before that showed up. Once you run the RUU the security warning should be gone, then you can unlock again and flash a custom ROM if you like.

i did re lock the bootloader , could it be because i have 3.16 on my phone and the ruu is 3.15??
That's the reason....a good way to take care of it is to start the process of dirty racun s-off, they have a procedure in the beginning to get 3.16 ruu via a zip...just go up to that point to ruu your device. Follow the instructions carefully.

Going back to Sense from JB?

I was on a JB rom, didn't like due to the bugs, figuired I'd go back to Sense and wait it out until a 'stable' JB rom comes out. I wanted to go back to Ineffabilis Deus v1.2 and his thread he recommends flashing back to 4.03.605.2 RUU before flashing his rom. So I did the the RUU but now I'm back to stock recovery, etc.?
Couple questions...
- Did I lose root/su?
- Am I still unlocked/s-off
- Do I have to do the wire trick again
If all of the above are yes I guess I start buy flashing AmonRa, how do I do that again? After I flash AR I'll have root access again, right?
Thanks for the help,
MAC
You will retain s off through anything you do.
You lost root and your custom recovery.
You will have to flash a custom recovery and then a superuser to gain root. Then you'll be back to normal stock rom rooted and free to flash a custom rom again.
Also you probably lost everything in internal sd so yeah.... I lost some good photos from that before

You didn't need to RUU your phone to go back to Dues if you were already on that firmware level. The thread just recommends you be at 4.03.605.2.

That doesn't work for an .img file.
You need adb installed on your pc to flash an .img file. Copy the file somewhere, bring up a command prompt, reboot the phone to the bootloader, select fastboot, plug it into your PC, run "fastboot flash recovery path/to/recovery.img" without the quotes.
You can also just download the all in one toolkit which contains everything you need - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504824

Place this in your sdk platform tools folder

Then flash using the following commands:

Then you can proceed with your recovery flash. Technically, you don't need to root again. A custom rom will cover that for you.
