Stock battery
I have done everything from Autostarts to managing my processes constantly. I played hanging with friends, got on here, and texted.
I posted an updated battery usage. I have lowest brightness, lowest image brightness, 15s timeout, etc.
i would probably switch to conservative governor vs powersave
This isn't typical battery life
I'd advice you to use better battery stats and cpu spy to se what's causing your battery to drain so quickly
Sometimes I notice "back up" in bbs, and this casus my phone to drain within a day
Hanging with friends does consume a lot of battery, but I play it too, and this does not cause that much drainage..
I have ICScrewed and with a heavy usage, my phone usually last for 1.5 ~ 2 days
With moderate call/text and idle, it lasts for 4 days.

Dang that is high! Are you sure about that? :O At medium usage /w unnamed i only get about 18 hours total. It was similar with ICScrewed too
Holy crap. I'll look into better apps. Could UnNamed be the culprit? Or the kernel?
Should I buy a new battery? The life waslike this for the few days I was stock, I think
I average around 17hr, on a good day I'll get 20h. I also recommend better battery stats, great app to see what's keeping your device from going to deep sleep.
Another great app is lbe privacy guard, you can deny certain apps and games some of the permissions they want (disabling GPS on those that really don't need it etc).
I'm on unnamed so that isn't the issue. Might be the kernel, just check the kernel wake clock in better battery stats to check. I'm on entropy's latest dd, while i do feel i got better battery life on the kernel with the latest unnamed ROM I'm not to sure if it's the kernel or something else.

I'd be curious to see your graph. My battery is dead now, but tomorrow I'm going to get on and upload Better Battery Stats to my phone. I would've paid for it on the Market, but I couldn't find it when I searched. I'm curious to see what other people think. I switched all Powersaves to Conservative. Is OnDemand bad for my CPU as it constantly trips from 500MHz to 1.2GHz? Should I consider going to 1GHz?

I have a hard time believing that. I've done everything I can to optimize my phone and reduce wakelocks and battery drain, and I still never get more than 20 hours on a good day, and that's with moderate usage.
How do you define "heavy usage"?

I agree. This is my latest battery cycle of what I consider "moderate" use
What I'd consider light usage (about 10 minutes of voice, between 5-10 minutes of cellular data, 10-15 texts, and about 20 minutes of total screen-on time) I get about 35 hours.
I have managed to almost completely drain my battery in about 4 hours though... Thanks Game Dev Story!

I will make sure to post up my graph when it does drain
I think my definition of heavy usage is moderate use for most people..

I realized I forgot to turn off data when I'm not using it, but I installed better battery stats and I didn't really see any wake locks. Should I try a different kernel? Any opinions on an efficient one? NOTE: I already got the yellow triangle for using the Odin way, so I'm fine with doing whatever to this phone.
I added my better battery stats shots. I guess today would be called a very light to light day.

I see two very top wake locks have kept your phone from sleeping for an hour..
That is a significant amount.
Also, use cpuspy to see how hard it's been working.
I would try to get rid of those top two wake locks...
Oh crap! I didn't see them until you brought it to my attention. That explains some of the idle drain. I'll look into CPU Spy. You guys have been so helpful!
Your kernel wakelocks had no data, probably due to BBS being a fresh install. A full charge should set a proper reference point.

If something's holding that many log wakelocks, something might be spamming a log somewhere.
I can't find anything to help with those two either. Or would seem that the keyguard might have something to do with text messages, but I can't see anything that would spam the log. Where might I be able to read this log?
Also, I'll post my CPU spy stats toward the end of the night. It's looking like it spends most of its time at 500MHz.
@wrathofnero You can remove the triangle with a usb jig. Worked for me.

I am getting some strange battery behaviour.
My device will turn itself fully off when sleeping about once a day. The power use graph often has strange jumps in it as well.
I've tried resetting battery stats but it's not made a difference.
Any ideas what could be causing it or how to fix it?
I've been having the same issue for the past few days. I've also been having a good amount of crashes. I am thinking about starting completely over: Odin back to 3.2, reinstalling CWM, and then trying the nightlies again. If that doesn't make it more stable, I may try Task 14 (HC).

And
If you're rooted download better battery stats from xda applications section and cpu spy from the play store to see your wakelocks and if your device is deep sleeping. Then post your bbs dump here

Well first, I would not recommend Juice Defender. I have heard that it causes the batter to drain more.
Secondly, the stats are only for not even 3 hrs. If you want a proper reading of what is draining battery it needs to be longer, if possible.
EDIT: What rom/kernel are you running? And did you do a full wipe when you flashed them?

I need an app that turns the wi-fi off when i'm not using it as I find wi-fi being creates a big battery drain. JuiceDefender has served me well for that purpose for years. Any other apps you can recommend for automatically turning off the connections?

I was running CyanogenMod 9 Nightlies Galaxy Tab 10.1 WIFI, then after a week switched to [ICS]Ganbarou GT-P7500/7501/7510/7511 CM9, and I am now as of yesterday on [JB][AOSP][ALPHA] Android 4.1.1 - Jelly Bean - [GT-P7510], full wipe as usual for them all, bar JellyBean where I had to return to stock first.
I've had the same power problem on them all, but i've noticed i've managed a 10hr stretch on JellyBean, so stats are attached.
Problem fixed.
I installed the Jelly Bean alpha, but it was still happening, so I drained the battery completely, then charged it fully, and that fixed the problem.
I've seen a lot of users' postings of battery statistics (screen shots) and they are all considerably better than what I am getting. The biggest difference I see is in the amount of battery drain from "Android System." What I see posted is between 9% and 13%. However, my batt stats show the Android System draining 60% of the battery.
So, what am I doing wrong? I'm still kind of new to Android. Is it the widgets? I've checked running processes verses what apps are draining battery life and nothing is running that drains like the system does.
Further info: I am currently running the 7.18.12 build of Diet ICS, but I was seeing this behavior on stock as well. Some widgets I use: Astrid premium tasks widget, Evernote, doubletwist, slacker, 3D clock/weather, a widgetsoid switcher, and APW Calendar.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

How often do your widgets that gather info refresh? Try scaling down on some widgets and see if that helps. If not, try to flash stock with odin and start over. I was having some problems with my phone when I first got it (MTP specifically) and I falshed stock and everything started working fine. Also, if you are using Google Chrome, make sure you have the experimental feature of using the gyroscope for tilt scrolling set to off....it is known to drain battery.
Hope this helps :good:

Maybe I will try flashing stock if I have time today. I reset my battery stats in recovery mode when I took the phone off the charger this morning, so we'll see how today goes.
I looked into the widgets and the only one that refreshes data on a schedule is the clock/weather. I'll try a different one or just not use the weather.
Great tip about Chrome. Didn't know it did that.
Do I actually need to calibrate the battery? I tried the method of letting it die and charge back up a few times and I've tried recharging once it gets down between 70-80 percents life. I'm not sure which method helped, but I did notice an improvement.
Thanks again for the help.

I have my display off auto-brightness and on a low setting, I probably utilize the task manager 50x a day and clear the ram as well, cpu sleeper is always activated, gps/sync/auto-rotate/wifi/bluetooth is always off unless I need them, and I have power saving mode on most of the time.
With all these settings off and I am a heavy texter/caller/browser/emailer, my battery lasts from 7AM-1AM and I am at 30-40% at the end of the day!

Never mind! Just searched" CPU sleeper" on the Play store and--voila!
On another note, I'm so glad I got a device with a huge support community. Coming from iOS, it's nice to feel part of a collective effort again and get such great advice. I know there are a lot of iOS forums and there is some great work done through those communities, but those seem so trivial compared to what is done through XDA and the level of helpfulness is unparalleled here.

I read somewhere in the forum that these batteries actually like to be constantly charged up and not let die completely. There was no explanation for this but I will research it because I am curious. With my old Captivate, i let it die then fully charge to extend the overall life of the battery.
How is your battery so far?

Have you tried using the CPU Sleeper app?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745516
I found that it does a great job of preserving battery life when the phone is in standby. I used to notice my battery draining really fast over short periods on standby (phone would be hot to the touch). After installing this, I have not encountered that problem again. I get 16-20 hours of use on moderate usage. LTE, gps, and sync are always enabled. I DO NOT have the phone in power saving mode and I seldom use wifi. I used to get 10-12 hours of battery life on the same usage before. I am running the rooted version of the stock rom from my carrier.
CPU sleeper app works great for me. I am in a non LTE area but get incredible battery life, last all day usually with around 50% left. An order of magnitude better than my SGS2

Hi all,
I also notice this and this were the steps that I did and seems to help me to reduce this process to like 5 %. I'm on Sprint S3 but should be the same for the all carriers.
Go ahead and open Talk application. You should see your account in green (I'm not using this application) then hit the menu and then select sigh Off. Make sure that your account changes to Offline (sometimes it is change back it self so open one more time make sure that it says Offline). Then what else I change is in wi-fi advanced options: under Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep I choose Only when plugged in option. then I reboot the phone and from now on (almost 2 days) my Android system process show up only 5% of usage and my battery life improve significantly. I hope this will helps.
Thanks
Those are great tips. Thanks. I will say I've gotten increasingly better life since employing other tips discussed here.
Something else I did was download a profile changing app. I got Quick Profiles, but anything should do. If anyone uses anything better, please share. I have a profile for power saving that turns down my brightness, and turns off wifi and Bluetooth. The app will let you put shortcuts on the home screen to instantly change the profile. I'd like to find one, however, that will also turn off gps and mobile data.

You need to recalibrate your battery dude.
Let your battery die.
Then with your phone off charge to 100%.
Then remove battery for 5 minutes to reset fuel gauge chip.

still the same problem
but when on stock ROM, the battery runs all good.
That's because battery 'recalibration' (at least these batteries) is voodoo nonsense
It sounds like a process(es) is causing wakelocks which is causing excessive drain when the phone is idling (from what you've described).
Get BetterBatteryStats from Google Play, then read the BBS thread on here (search for it; if you can't find it, you can access it from within the app from memory). That should give you some clues to help you track down what's causing the drain. If you're still stuck, you should be able to post stats/screenshots to the BBS thread & I'm sure people who post there regularly should be able to help you.
I disagree with your statement about battery calibration being nonsense.
Do some research into the battery gauge chip in the S2 dude, resetting it definitely works
You're right though it could definitely be wake locks too

Maybe you are right. ill look into it
You can try GSam Battery Monitor:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5nc2FtbGFicy5iYm0iXQ..
It is easier to find an application that consumes juice in GSam BM than in BBS. BBS is very good but more difficult. I think your problem is beeing made by bad application that sucks energy.
You can also try CPU Spy to get known if your device goes into deep sleep mode.
Try turning of location services. It will help but there must be something else too. Did you try CPU spy which shows how much time your phone is in deep sleep when not in use?

If you were to post this over at the BBS thread, they would tell you a few things right off the bat:
1. the facebook app is a battery killer. I'd start by freezing it (if you need facebook functionality there are more battery friendly apps for it)
2. Looks like you are doing a lot of syncing. turn it all off.
3. Enable root features in bbs since you're rooted (lets you get more info that may become relevant).
4. You need more idle time. plug in and unplug your phone to create an unplugged reference, then leave it be for a few hours.
The AudioOut_2 wakelock is an interesting one, especially since it's high on your list. In my case it showed up when I tried poweramp and it seemed to be related to the auto-start-when-headphones-plugged-in option, so if you use poweramp check that option. Others seem to get it from viber. If you have that, remove or freeze it.
So, give the above a try, and check a new dump. This will probably give you more stuff to look into. If you find a problematic app you can then determine whether it can be fixed by changing its settings, greenified, disabling its autostarts, or if you just need to avoid it.

In 2 hours, I have lost 29% battery life. I'm pretty sure this can't be normal, especially with 1+hours of Deep Sleep.
http://www.mediafire.com/view/?2panq9fohk2atfe here is the "Better Battery Stats" for those 2 hours.
Thanks for any info
If it matters, I'm running CarbonRom.

From what I see you have had no, or only one bar of signal? If so, you may want to use Airplane Mode. You can use Airplane mode and still use Wi-Fi.
Have you been around Wi-Fi? If you aren't around Wi-Fi, turn it off.
NFC. Is it on? Do you use it? If not.. Turn off.
If your battery level shows inconsistency, you might want to calibrate your battery.
I hope i helped, im not quite sure why you loose 11% every hour, while mostly in deep sleep. Go to performance control and use some tweaks for your kernel.

The low signal shouldn't have any affect on the battery of the G, when I was on aosp I used houcha's kernel an I got great battery life around 23 hours with 5 hours of screen on and was at 22%, with set CPU profiles engaged and no kernel tweaks from any app. And I live in an area that primarily has 0-2 bars of service at home and full lte when I work I leave everything on, all radios and data sync. Now that being said for some reason the development is moving towards synergies kernel, and it doesn't have nearly the battery life that houcha's gets

The AudioOut_2 wakelock can be caused by corrupted Mp3 files on your SD card. It was wreaking havoc in our SGS4G community and the fix for us was always to use MP3val to scan and fix those files. It cleared the AudioOut_2 wakelock right up. I know these are totally different phones but hey its worth a shot. http://mp3val.sourceforge.net

Low signal does in fact drain your battery. When you have zero to one or two bars, your phone is searching for signal, It causes the phone to increase power to the antenna, to get signal.

I understand the premise that low signal causes mor power to be drained, my point was that it doesn't cause 29% on this phone that's not even close to possible

Also if u are rooted u can download greenify from apps store helps with battery drain by putting apps in hibernation that normally wont go there like facebook and maps..... Etc
