I've got a question about two broken EVO 3D's.
First one:
Fully stock (not rooted, bootloader locked). This one has a broken/malfunctioning screen. After a fall the screen is vertically split in half, left site works good right site is fully black. The glass isn't broken or shattered in any kind.
Second one:
Flashed back to stock, bootloader status 'relocked' & S-ON again. (Have tried to use JuopunutBear to set 'locked' but without succes). This device has probably a broken digitilizer (see my earlier question).
I'm wondering if both devices will fall under warranty repair, of do i've to pay for the repairs myself (in this case i prefer to buy new devices...).

I receive this error when I boot into fastboot or HBoot modes. When I power on normally, it boots up fine (takes longer than usual), the slider lock screen comes on BUT the touchscreen doesn't work.
Also, this phone is flashed to Cricket (I'm not a Verizon customer) so while the phone is technically under warranty, I'm not sure Verizon will honor the warranty.
Any thoughts?
Downgrade to 1.5 if possible.
PCDPhones can probably fix it, the warranty is technically through them.
I'd go to their website and call them up. They'll have you mail your phone to them. OR find a Verizon friend that you can re-flash the phone back to Verizon, and take it into a Verizon store. They will either give that person an exchange or mail them a new phone.
If you send your phone to PCDPhones, it can be 2 weeks, but they DO honor the warranty. Possibly if you take it to Verizon as well, I'm NOT sure. I know HTC still honors this warranty, and it's done through PCDPhones. Sounds like your touch screen went bad.
You could try to downgrade if you're worried that you won't be under warranty, with http://www.androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/ in the All Things Root area in AcidBaths' thread on his first post there, hboot and all, so that you're "covered by warranty" - to be honest I bet if it's a physical problem - which it sounds like it is - they won't care about the software anyway
ok so I got the $5.18/ month insurance from Verizon, they tried to offer a $6.99/month plan that adds a 6 month warranty to the exchange and then took it back saying you cant with the thunderbolt.
So my question is should I just tell them I lost the phone and get to keep the battery, sd card, and possibly fix the touch screen later to put it on Metro PCS? Verizon says they cover lost phones, does anyone know if I will have more trouble if my phone is lost versus broken?
Also if its broken is there anyway of getting out of the $100 deductible?
Anyone know if I have to wait a day after adding insurance or any trouble I will run into with this?
Hey,
My i9300's screen has recently stopped working, in three phases -
1. The screen started to show a white vertical line on the right of the screen.
2. The screen has turned completely black (touch still works + could see the text in a dark room).
3. Screen is black, turning in on shows a green light on the right of the screen. Touch still works (current state).
The phone did not suffer from any fragile before these screen issues.
I am trying to understand what the problem is, and whether a new screen will be required.
Another (related, obviously) question is about the warranty.
I purchased the phone in a UK shop which only provides 1-year warranty (which expired).
I also have a SAMSUNG warranty card, which states 24-months warranty. My phone is rooted and the warranty card is empty (shop didn't fill in its details).
1. Do any of you recognize the problem, and can suggest how to fix it (which parts should be replaced).
2. Do you have tips I could use for the Samsung warranty? Will Samsung care if the phone is rooted when fixing a hardware issue? Would they even accept a phone from me directly (and not from a retailer)?
Thanks alot for your time.
If the screen is physically undamaged then contact Samsung, warranty is 24 month from manufacturer or from purchase receipt date.
There is nothing you can do yourself, apart from flash a stock rom via odin to unroot (you can do this without a working screen).
As long as flash counter is zero then warranty should be good.

OK, thanks.
Do you have any idea if samsung can send the phone back internationally?

No warranty is void outside of the EU if its a UK purchase .

I'm reading through the threads and forums and maybe I'm just missing it... Is there a way to get S-Off/Unocked on the Tmobile One besides htcdev.com? My One is a warranty replacement, and also I just now received it back from having the camera repaired, so I really don't want to officially unlock it via htcdev for warranty purposes. On Verizon we had Rumrunner just before I switch to T-Mobile. Is there something similar? I see rumrunner for the int'l variant, but can't find if it'll work on T-Mobile. Again I apologize if it's right in front of my face or if I'm looking in the wrong places, but I've been looking for about an hour with no luck.
TIA!
Forgot to mention I'm also on stock 4.3, 3.24.531.3
Ok correct me if I'm wrong - I've read (haven't tried yet) the int'l rumrunner will get S-Off, but you have to be rooted first - i.e. have to unlock via htcdev anyway.
You are correct the current T-Mobile build IS supported by rumrunner, and yes, you must be HTC dev unlocked first. Contrary to popular belief, however, this does not completely void your warranty with HTC.
Hardware issues (like your camera for example) will usually still be covered by HTC, but you can go directly through T-Mobile. Going through warranty with T-Mobile is very easy. When you go through them and the only downside is the replacement will be a refurbished phone, but sometimes they'll even send you the refurb before you send back the defective one. T-Mobile is really great with warranty replacement.
They honor a one-year device warranty, all you would need to do is set your bootloader back to "locked" (which you can do once you've gained soff) and place a warranty request with T-mobile directly.
Thank you - that's exactly what I needed to know. And I forgot you can set it back to locked with S-Off - good to know!
I'm sending my HTC one m8 in for the one time free glass replacement. I have unlocked the boot loader and rooted the phone will they still do it for free or do I need to do something before I send it in?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
They shouldn't care, but I would unroot phone and relock the boot loader just to be on the safe side. Relocking the phone will factory reset phone, but I would do that anyway regardless just so my personal stuff wasn't in someone else's possession.

I was told by an HTC chat representative that because I registered and downloaded the unlock code from HTC that this voided the warranty - all parts of it, including the Advantage Program. - I think this is terrible. Unlocking the bootloader has NOTHING to do with dropping the phone or replacing a broken part.
I hope you have good luck getting the glass replaced free under the program. Please keep us posted on what happens!
From what I have see, there have been mixed reports. Some folks with modded phone have had their screen fixed under Advantage, and some have been denied (HTC makes you pay for the repair?).
I would recommend return the phone to LOCKED (s-off required), return to s-on, and everything else stock, and hope for the best. If you unlocked by HTCDev.com, they have a record of you doing so by the phone's IMEI. So your chances are probably not great. If you unlocked the bootloader via sunshine, they should have no way of knowing the phone is modded if you return everything to stock.
Bootloader can say "relocked" and it will still be able to be fixed. If rooted and unlocked and non stock firmware/software/recovery then they will not fix based on my findings(repair center techs).
My screen malfunctioned and I had to send the phone in for replacement. I returned back to stock via RUU and relocked the bootloader, but left it S-Off. I did not get any grief from HTC. So far, I have left the new phone completely stock, but I'll likely unlock, root, and s-off at some point. ?

Did you unlock the bootloader using HTC Dev, or via Sunshine/other?

I unlocked using HTC Dev, so they certainly have a record of it. Plus, mine said "relocked" on the bootloader screen.
I sent mine in around January 3rd with a relocked bootloader with no issues at all except for them breaking mt camera lens on the return shipment , this being after it got damaged on the way there... -_- but they dont care about the bootloader as far as I'm concerned
When I contacted HTC chat originally for my free screen replacement, I was unlocked and rooted, and they gave me the runaround about the warranty being voided (I unlocked through HTCdev).
I exited the chat, relocked the bootloader and flashed back to stock.
Went back into a new chat, they replaced it without a hitch. Well unless you consider the power button now being stuck on my new phone, so I need to send it back under warranty again, a hitch lol.
So apparently, if you contact them while rooted and unlocked, they may try to use it to void your warranty. But if you put it back to factory, you're showing them it's not a software issue from you messing with it (don't ask me how a cracked screen would be), so they give you no hassle.
I have this weird yellow/greenish tint on the upper-middle part of the left side of my screen. I did some research and found out that its due to the processor overheating. Figure I would try to go to Sprint and get a replacement since LG has a 12 month warranty ( got the phone on November). However I have my phone rooted and its bootloader unlock. My question is will I have to relock my bootloader and unroot my phone? Does Sprint check for that stuff when doing a replacement? I found this thread that does a stock restore so that covers root but what about the bootloader?
