Slimroms on P500? - Optimus One, P500, V General

We have some really talented developers in this thread, we also have the cream of the crop when it comes to android mods. I have seen so many incredible porting attempts for P500. So I came across this rom and I was wondering if anyone here felt like having a go at bringing this to our P500's. Unfortunatly I do not have the resources or time to build a rom, as much as I would love to.
This rom has some really awesome features borrowed from CM9 and AOPK and other roms. Its really brings us the best of all these roms into one single rom.

Its High Time We Donated To Mik First

We people know of only a few original roms for our optimus one phones.
1. LG Roms ( Froyo & Gingerbread )
2. Mik's ported CM 7 Rom
And right now we are enjoying their different variants in different flavors.
Andy also made a wonderful aosp gb rom but it had some unsolved bugs like fm and Bluetooth headset and a few others.
Besides competing with each other in a healthy way, Mik and Andy also shared a lot of things together while developing their Ports.
Ciaox also tried to port the sense Froyo rom but stopped it after he could not solve the GPS issue and a few others. Now he is trying to port the sense GB rom. I wish him best of luck.
Franco has contributed immensely in kernel development. Fserve has also started contributing in this area.
Noejn, dookmat, paolo gave us good custom Froyo roms. Many people are still giving us custom GB and CM roms.
Drelisdee gave us first custom recovery AmonRa. Kbzona is also doing good work.
I haven't yet donated to anybody in my Android life. But now I feel we should start donating where it is due.
I want to donate first to Mik. He has given us the best original rom for o1 so far.
I request Mik to open some channel to donate to him.
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk
Developers like him , franco and all that you have listed above need to be recognized in some other form than post thanks. I gladly second that notion of donation to those guys whose efforts we see deserving. A little something to credit their efforts.

Confused which is better Passion or Euphoria

OK, this might be a dumb question for some, but i am confused. Which of the two ROMs is the better one? Is Euphoria the next generation Passion? I do not care about GPS but rather stable and bug free ICS ROM. Don't care for customization either...
I am currently on ICS Passion 11b5 and have some issues like, my ringtones stop working every now and then and I need to re-select them in my sounds. Phone is laggy and becomes unresponsive pretty often..
If customization isn't your thing then I'd stick with ICS Passion if I were you. However you should probably update. ICS Passion v13.1 has been out for a while and I hear that that rom coupled with the newest Kiss kernel (Sealed_with_a_kiss #4) make a good pair. You should try that before testing out Euphoria.
Try the AOKP rom, it is similiar to Passion with fewer bugs and less laggy.
If you like MIUI, there are 2 or 3 MIUI V4 roms being worked on. They run solid, just dont allow for much customization at this point.

AOKP = Android Open Kang Project - Milestone 4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512518
Ice Cream Zenwich is also AOKP based and very good. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1499455
(Euphoria is AOKP based too. that's where all the customization comes from. Passion was based on CM9)
So the AOKP should be better than both Zenwich and Euphoria then? How come the AOPK Rom's thread is not very big (that's how I judge if a rom is popular)?

Ok, let me make this simple for you to understand.
Zenwich and Euphoria ARE aokp, not AOKP is better. So to make it clear, AOKP Roms are Zenwich, Euphoria, and Milestone 4. And if you judge a rom's popularity based on the number of posts then you're surely mistaken. The reason some roms have more posts than others are because the development of the rom has been out longer. That doesn't mean the rom is better (or more popular). In fact, the best way to judge a rom is by testing it yourself and finding the right one; kinda like buying a pair of shoes, or a car, or a woman.
The ONLY way you're gonna find the BEST rom for you is to take them for a test drive, give them a fair chance and use each one for a few days and see for yourself.
OK, good to know. Yes, I think you are right about the test drive .. and the women .. I guess I should install them and see. The thing is it generally takes some time to setup and configure everything back the way i need. But I will start with Zen probably because it has inverted apps built-in and see how it goes . Thanks!

Well put DJ, and I agree totally!! These people questioning us for opinions on ROMs to choose, need to test them out and experience the ROM for what it is to see if it suits them.
I personally was a diehard Honey Fan of EB's Roms, until the ICS ROM's came out which addressed some issues I was having using SHoney, And Ive been moving forward with a ROM that has everything I WANT, not what other peeps need or desire!!
Again Its a personal choice, and should be made outta what you need and want from a ROM, not popularity!!
JMO!!

Team Broccoli rom out

Just wanted to let everyone know that we have a new rom out from Team Broccoli. It is apparently a heavily themed version of AOKP built from source. Since it's AOKP, you know that everything is going to work (thanks Jermaine!).
I just flashed the latest version (r2.1 beta) and it seems good so far. It's worth a flash just to add a whole new level of silliness in terms of boot animations . You can download it from Goo Manager or from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653685
I probably should say that I had absolutely nothing to do with the development of this rom - I just found it on Goo Manager by chance.
Thanks for the heads up on this. It's always nice to look at new roms and or new features and tweaks, and this is the beauty of Android, we all push innovation by being inspired to try new things. I hate brocolli, but since I don't have to taste it I'm giving this a whirl now.

It has been running really well for me. As I said, it is AOKP so I am not too surprised about that. Interestingly, I flashed AOKP b38 before I found this on Goo Manager and the Broccoli rom seems to be running a little smoother than that - I cannot think why that would be... The theming is really nice on this rom too.
Eat yer broccoli CharliesTheMan - it will keep you regular

Differences between the JB ROMs?

This might be a silly question, but what exactly are the differences between the three Jellybean ROMs I see in the dev section (Paranoid, CM10, AOKP)?
None of these seem to have any kind of "feature log" or changelog.
Anyone have any insights?

Paranoid Android Is Jellybean
AOKP....not going there with that one
CMX, Pure build from code. Great rom.
differences, not exactly sure, but most will have a twitter to keep up with changes if possible

I'm not trying to be a ****, but you kind of didn't answer my question in any way.
a) What's wrong with AOKP?
b) I know Paranoid is JB, that's why I mentioned it. Are you saying it's stock JB? Kinda confused on the wording here.
c) Obviously, you're a fan of CM10 (aka CMX). What makes it so good compared to the other two? I see the thread for it has more posts (and thus seems to be more popular), but why?
Again, I'm not trying to be difficult. Just hoping to get an answer without having to flash 3 different ROMs.
Each ROM has different features.
CM isnt just straight AOSP

As much as I am grateful that people are paying attention to this thread and attempting to answer, this is the 2nd non-answer I've received so far.
I know each ROM has different features, that's why I made this thread.
I know CM isn't just straight AOSP.
My issue is that unlike most of the Sense ROMs, these JB ROMs have no feature list at all, and don't even cite any sort of changelog. Thus, I can't make an informed decision on which ROM to flash.

That's like.. not even fully correct.
Please make sure you know what you're talking about before you answer questions, as not knowing the answer will only cause more confusion.
To OP,
Paranoid: Paranoid Android is an AOSP JB ROM that focuses on the fusion of phone mode and tablet mode. Typically putting a phone into tablet mode would be cool, but some features of tablet mode just don't work that well on a phone. So they've worked on making the tablet mode experience work better on a phone. You can read more about it here.
AOKP: AOKP (Android Open Kang Project) is a highly customized AOSP build that is somewhat similar to CM in that it has a lot of tweaks available to it. AOKP actually has a bit more customization than CM, allowing you to center the clock, add the day of the week to the clock, weather in your notification menu, and a few other neat tricks. You can read more about it here.
CM10: CyanogenMod is the most popular custom Android ROM around, with a very large user base. It supports many different devices. We just recently received official support, meaning we will get official releases and nightlies on a daily basis. This is a plus for CM, because we don't have official support for AOKP and Paranoid, which means we might not always get the newest updates. While it has less ability for customization than AOKP, CM is still a very solid AOSP ROM. You can read more about it here.
All three are great ROMs, and at this point they have mostly the same bugs. I would personally suggest CM10 because the development for it is a bit more active and I've noticed better battery life and less buggyness while running that over AOKP.

Thanks you so much for your in-depth answer.
I'll do some more research with the provided links, and will probably flash something tonight.
Thanks again.

No problem. I would suggest trying them all, since there are differences between each of them.

It was directed more twards the poster above me. My pizza got delivered in the middle of typing so I had to go let the guy in. Sorry my post was so short and abrupt.
SoraX did a great job of explaining the main goals/differences between the ROMS>
The reason there isnt a changelog is because at this point the developers are more focused on getting things working 100%. Its the nature of the beast.

[DEV][WIP][YP-G70]AOKP for the Galaxy Player 5.0

Hello, ladies and gentlemen!
Now that I have finally got my hands on a YP-G70, it's time to start developing for it! For my first project, porting AOKP! If you're like me, the default customisation options are not enough to suit your needs so you turn to a custom ROM. AOKP is my first choice when it comes to customising my device. Since there currently exists no JB AOKP ROM, I have taken up the task of porting it myself. (Hopefully, I will not have to resort to building it from source!)
It will most likely be a long project, and I could not have been inspired to take on this task if it wasn't for the awesome developers working on ROMs. Any help along the way would help this project work out!
Step 1: Finding a good ROM to port from.
Reserved.
U rock!
if you could develop would help. I'm taking classes, until then I'm just tester
Looking forward to this!

If I can help you perhaps, the best rom to port from would be a rom with simillar hardware. You can go search for the nexus s or the galaxy s I9000 as they've mostly the same hardware as the SGPs 4.0 and 5.0. Still I recommend building from source for optimal quality.
I was hoping this would not be the case but I have set up a Linux box for building just in case. Thanks, I can spend the next few days off from school working to get this started!

Moved to General for now, when the OP is full of development, will be more than happy to relocate!
