Hi all, Coming from Desire S I had the paid Rom manager and used it on my new S3 not realising that it wasn't compatible. I have had a look around here and can't see CWM as an APK file. I rooted using the toolkit method which doesn't include it, so has anyone got it? Thanks.
You do know google has been around for years and years and years now....

Perhaps, but a quick search is sometimes faster:

if you are rooted install Mobile Odin from market, grab the tar file in OP and flash from Mobile Odin selecting Recovery
Thanks, I do have Mobile Odin pro and I didn't know it was the same program as CWM Manager. I do have Touch Recovery if thats what you are trying to get me to load. As I said I have come from HTC DS and used Rom manager all the time, it just made everything easy.

It's not the same it's a tool to flash entire roms or kernels or recoveries, in raw img format compressed with tar. Far much powerful.
And it doesn't impact Rom flash count.
OP made it sound as if CWM is an employee or something.. hehehe

I have an at&t s2 I777.....it is rooted one i guess (it was gifted)..
I want the ICS on it...and believe me i know nothing about how to get it....
i googled and found many people explaining the process for a windows PC version.
I have a mac and if some one would please care to explain (step-by-step is much appreciated)..i attach the present status of the I777...
Thanks....
Senior members will probably scream SEARCH at you 'til blue in the face, so I'll throw you a bone since I've been stalking for far too long.
This (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878686) is a guide to Heimdall (basically Odin for Mac) find a kernal to flash (I started with Siyah http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19650906&postcount=1) and follow the Heimdall guide to flash to your GS2. Next you can download any ICS Rom (I've been using ShoStock2 since version 1.1) to your phone and flash the zip using CWM (there are a plethora of guides on this should you need it, so search.)
Check out my thread, no need for a computer to flash the update
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722064
I would suggest you follow the guide linked in my signature. It has instructions for using heimdall with the mac.
Do *not* install Siyah 3.4 on your phone if you are running Gingerbread stock or modified firmware. You can not use an ICS kernel with a Gingerbread system.
If you have any questions or problems as you work through the guide, feel free to post your questions in that thread.
Edit: if you already have ClockworkMod Recovery on the phone, then you can just download the firmware distribution you want and flash it in recovery.

Yes, it is based on the last AT&T release. You will need CWM to install the ROM.

You couldn't find one? Then you didn't to search very hard, as a 30 sec!ond search pulls up multiple sources for what you want. The stock recovery is of course contained in all of the full stock firmware images. So you could simply download a full firmware image from any number of places and use winrar to get the file that you need. Or a search would have also shown you that a member named toastido has already done so for you.

No it won't. As far as I know (and tried) it won't brick your phone, but you will have to flash the correct file over it otherwise you won't be able to boot into recovery. Feel free to prove me wrong.

Hi
Was advised by someone on here that I can flash with CM11.
Am also advised that phone may then not work with sim!I
'm told that this can be avoided/resolved by running something called s5360 modem within Odin
What I'm not clear on is when and how to apply the s5360? Is it before flash to avoid prob or after to resolve? Also what is best version of Odin to use?
Thanks

Many thanks for these replies. Yes, I understand how to do it now. Unfortunately my problem now is somewhat different. I can't get CWM 6.0.5.3 to work as it keeps saying it's for other models. I'm stuck as I then can't use the older CWM to install CM11?

Pay close attention to steps 16-17. Good Luck.
After this update to the newest recovery- cwm or TWRP (making sure you get the working versions for our device) and the development forums are your oyster so to speak.
Edit: Sometimes just flashing a superuser app will do the trick if this is your only issue, but if you came from stock this is how I started back in the day.
Edit: Some ROMs also require root access in developer options set to "apps and adb".
