Ok, very noobish at the whole ROM/Kernel/Firmware thing even though I'm on my second ROM.
Currently running ViperRez 1.03, was running RezRom S4 v2.4 (Was my first custom ROM). I did the JuopunutBear method of S-off, rooting, etc.. My HBOOT is currently 2.11 which I have read is the GB version.. I have not had any issues to speak of with this HBOOT version.
So basically i want the latest Kernel by Joel (BAMF Vigor Kernel[3.0.46]). Can this be done on the 2.11 HBOOT?
And will my phone need to be completely wiped for an updated HBOOT install? I have seen that 2.27 is the latest version. Do I need it and what are my limitations/disadvantages of having 2.11? Thank guys.. you all rock!
If you run the latest ruu which is 4.03.605.02 it should update your hboot and radios but Im sure it will wipe your Rom and you'll have to reflash your recovery. And its not required to update to use joelz's kernal.

I don't think we can update radios as of yet on hboot 1.5. That would require s-off.

You gotta relock run the 2.17 ruu the unlock ,flash recovery and superuser that's the only way

that sucks. Do yall know if it is worth updating to the latest radio.
It's is if you plan on flashing new roms plus the 2.17 update its a lot better running

ok. thanks
Is there a patched hboot compatible with 2.25? I see a 2.11 and 2.21, as well as the ENG hboot for GB but nothing for 2.25. Anybody?
I guess a better question is, what will happen if I use a 2.21 JuopunutBear hboot after running the latest ruu?

All good.
Btw since nobody said and just to be clear. If you use the older juopunutbear hboot on the latest leaknothing changes... Won't mess up your phone, everything will work fine. I've been doing that myself.

I don't recommend that. You should S-OFF before upgrading (unless you're extremely satisfied with being S-ON). Just run the RUU with the deivce in HBOOT (to escape your current predicament).
I have hboot 1.19 is that avle to be s-off i havent looked in a bit. And im on radio 1.12 when i try to run ruu since in running 3.15 jb build it wont let me ruu

none
You use rusty racun to get s-off, google it and you'll find it, but first run the PJ75IMG to get back to stock, then unlock the bootloader again and run rusty racun

Hello,
So at one point my EVO 3D was S-OFF, HBOOT 1.40, and running a Jellybean ROM. At one point, the rom started acting funky so I ran the Sprint ICS RUU. I rooted it, restored the data partition, and I was HBOOT 1.58 unlocked S-OFF. Yesterday I downgraded to HBOOT 1.40 using a PG86IMG.zip and then the stock ROM would not boot. I briefly saw bit of the Sprint Boot logo, then it shut down, and repeated.
What can I do to get my stock ROM booting again?

I didn't think that 1.40 hboot was compatible with jellybean, I could be wrong. you can flash another hboot then wipe cache and dalvik then give it another go

I would imagine if the ruu gave you 1.58, that's what you need for stock
1.50 and under is usually for GB, JB and some custom ICS roms

The ROM I was planning on installing was MIUI v5. I believe it is JB.
I have a Nandroid of my stock ROM, so when I want to go back I can simply flash HBOOT 1.58 again?
Then once you've changed boot, it won't boot to the stock ROM....do a full wipe and flash the jb ROM
