Are you using the right siyah?

Sounds like the ROM doesn't have the Mali updates. It will work without Siyah, or you can use a non-mali version of Siyah.

It does have mali
Doesn't matter what version of kernel you use from my understanding... (as long as it's for this phone)
Flashing the ROM, via CWM, will overwrite whatever kernel is installed with its own kernel.
Something is wrong, true. But I don't believe it to be Siyah or SuperNexus.
Have you tried re-downloading SuperNexus and flashing the new dl? You may have had a bad dl.
Oh, and if I'm wrong about anything, please correct me. Always willing to learn!

0. Complete wipe of course.
1.Flash supernexus build 5 + gapps.
2.Reboot, Let it boot up once atleast.
3.Boot into recovery
4. wipe, dalvik cache
5. flash siyah.
6. Reboot
thank you everyone, I'm tired to see my phone go blank again, I read some posts saying siyah gives better battery life than the kernel included in the ROM, which was the reason I wanted to try it, I have tried siyah with older supernexus ROM and currently using built in kernel and notice no difference, I guess I should try it before asking it here, thanks again everyone for ur support.

4.3.3 nomswap??
I have an at&t gs2 i777 and I'm currently on SuperNexus build 2 with Siyah-v4.1.5-nomswap. I want to upgrade to supernexus build5 with siyah 4.3.3. The only thing I'm confused with is that I don't see anymore any download for nomswap for JB.
Download v4.3.3 - CM10/AOKP MALI - CWM Flashable
WITH mic swap
Download v4.3.3 - ICS
WITH mic swap
WITHOUT mic swap
Which one should I install??

Wow! Thanks a lot for the quick response! I'll take your word ...I had doubts because when I installed supernexus build2 (JB) I got confused first and installed siyah with mic swap and couldn't hear anything during calls...so I changed it to nomswap and everything ran smoothly...so now that I wanted to install siyah 4.3.3 i was surprised there was no nomswap.
This is my first Android and I love the Supernexus/Siyah Combo!!

Hi
Im currently running on CM9 Nightlies on Samsung Galaxy S II I9100. I have seen people saying the Siyah Kernel is one of the best out there and many people across forums like it.
My question is if I flash this KERNEL what happens when I flash the next nightlies ?? would the Siyah kernel be over written with the nightly default kernel or would remain as is ?

It will be overwritten. You could try deleting boot.img from the Nightly before flashing (open the .zip and delete, don't extract it), although it might not work - I haven't looked at the script.
no it's fine to flash siyah kernel and if you flash any new room you have to format system and clean delvic cache so it's no problem
Just flash CM9 and then kernel again.
But if CM9 is secondary ROM, then the kernel will remain without changes.

Not true. You do NOT need to format system or clean DALVIK cache before flashing a nightly over a nightly. Get your facts straight.
What's a room?

Normal for dual-core.
This thread is to help people hellraise a GT-I9100 Jellybean 4.1 rom for use on our AT&T Galaxy S2 SGH-I777.
Get what you need as of August 1, 2012:
1.) Download a Jellybean 4.1 or 4.1.1 rom from the GT-I9100 forums. (NOTE: do not use from the I9100G, the hardware is different)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1055
2.) Download a JB compatible SGH-I777 kernel. The following have compatible versions:
- Dream Kernel ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788148 )
- Siyah Kernel ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592228 )
3.) Download a CM9 SGH-I777 modem (this is AOSP based and needs a CM modem)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336958&highlight=cm7+modem
4.) Download the Hellraiser zip I have attached to this post. This adds the needed keylayout and lib files for the SGH-I777.
Move the files to your internal SD card on your phone.
INSTALL ORDER:
1.) Boot into CWM recovery and do a Wipe/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache, Format System.
2.) Install the Jelllybean GT-I9100 rom zip (Note: if the rom uses AROMA installer, do not reboot after install)
3.) Install the SGH-I777 Jellybean compatible kernel.
4.) Install the Hellraiser zip from this post to get the correct keylout for you SGH-I777.
5.) Install the SGH-I777 CM modem. (all JB roms at this date are CM10 based)
6.) REBOOT and get you some Jellybeans!
Credits go to Team Skyfire for the Dream Kernel, Ktoonsez and Gokhanmoral for the Siyah Kernel, RockRatt for the modems, and drakester09 for the keylayout and lib files in the Hellraiser zip attached. Thank these awesome devs every chance you can get!!
Thanks for putting together these directions.
Does this hellraiser package also change the build id back to i777 or will it still be i9100?
Because the original ROM creator may have tweaks in the build.prop I figured it best to leave the device I'd alone.
You can manually change the build.prop to show SGH-I777 if you need it.

Yes, I'm currently using the 20120801 release from GT-I9100 CM10 thread from below. I did have to change the build.prop before it would flash via CWM. The easiest way I found to do that was to run it through Flash-aholicsTool and just check mark strip out device specific script calls and change device name to I777. (I did not check Hellraise option) Then follow the directions in the OP.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794758
I am on my 3rd GT-I9000 JB ROM and I use this method. It is not a tool just an easy way to add the proper key layout and libs for SGH-I777.
I manually select the build.prop with Root Explorer to edit in text editor.

With mic swap is for AOSP based like CM10 or for a GT-I9100 ROM.
Without mic swap is only for AT&T leaks/ROMs like LE5 or LD3.

Hello my friends, i followed all the tutorial, but when i will install the Jelllybean GT-I9100 rom zip i get this erro message:
Error in /sdcard/cm-10-20120801-EXPERIMENTAL-i9100-CODEWORKX.zip

My galaxy S2 is the i777 from AT&T and i think i did all the tutorial right!
What do you think is going on?
Thank you!
Using Entropys ICS Hellraiser, I packed it with The Dream JB Kernel and a new modem. So all you have to do is flash this after you flash a i9100 ROM and it does everything for you http://db.tt/dEfrVjGB

You need to go into your build.prop and chage GT-I9100 to SGH-I777 & I9100 to I777. Or extract the build.prop from the cm10 zip and replace the one in your phone with it.

This solution will work and is essentially the same as what I described in the OP.
My method is just a bit longer with the exception of choice in the future of newer kernels and modems that may be created.
As for the status 7 error...you need to unzip the JB ROM you have chosen and edit out any device scripts in the install that check for a GT-I9100 OR you need to edit your current ROM's build.prop to show GT-I9100 instead of SGH-I777 BEFORE you reboot into recovery to flash the JB ROM.
Some ROMs have a device script that verifies you are flashing to the "proper" device.

Did you get the Siyah CM10 Test Kernel or the normal ICS 3.5.1 version? I would bet the 3.5.1 ICS version. My apologies...I should have been more specific.
As far as I can tell, the Siyah kernel generated by Ktoonsez for the SGH-I777, has separate ICS and JB versions. The GT-I9100 Siyah kernel is version 3.5.2 and seems to be for BOTH ICS and JB roms but that is only for that phone.
At this time, Ktoonsez' Siyah has mic swap and no mic swap versions for ICS 3.5.1 but the CM10 test kernel seems to be without mic swap, which would cause your call audio to be low since the top mic is being used instead of the bottom mic. Without mic swap is only for AT&T leaked roms (and we all know AT&T won't be releasing JB to us anytime soon). Please go thank or donate to Ktoonsez anyway because you know he will be on top of this in the future. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592228
I would highly recommend the Dream kernel WITH mic swap. This should fix your problem. Don't forget to Thank or Donate to Team Skyfire if you use their kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788148
I am using the 2.6.9 version of the Dream kernel (with mic swap) with great results. For some reason, which is explained in their thread, 2.6.9 is actually newer than their 3.2.9 version. Something to do with the TWRP recovery for one and not the other.
Please let us all know your results using the proper kernel.
Thank You very match. I flashed Dream kernel and it works fine.
Thanks for your grate jobs.
Hailraising i9100 SuperNexus rom
Hi,
Can someone please help me hailraising the Supernexus rom released yesterday in i9100.
link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810042
I tried to hailraise it using the scripe you provided. When I tried to install it failed with bunch of build.prop mismatch and status 7 error. So as suggested earlier, I extracted its build.prop and edited it to match our device, but still it fails with same error. My proficieny in this area ends here and don't know what else to do here !!
I'm really interested in this build, as this is the only rom thats not based on cm10 exp build , but its made from the aosp source code directly and thus I hope it solves my media scanner issue and I could have a jb rom to work with.
Thanks !!!
I installed CM 10.1 on my Samsung S2/II i9100 and put on the Siyah-s2-v6.0b4 Kernel What happened? My phone was stuck on the boot but it did show me the Samsung logo but goes dead/blank and at times it booted up and freezing up with errors The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again
The good news is i got it back to work! but i would like to share on how i got the phone back to life/work! to help someone out there that has the similar problem.
So heres how i got it back to work!

Gaaps - gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip[/url] - you dont need this if you dont use Google Talk/Play Store!
Heres what you need to do to get your phone up and running!
Put your phone into recovery volume down/back/power all pressed in until your greeted via a Custom ROMs hit volume down
connect the phone to the computer (make sure you have Samsung Kies installed 1st!
Start the Odin3 v3.04 program and browser for recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-galaxys2.tar under Bootloader
hit Start and you should see a green Kernel PASS!
Plug in your SD card reader and slot the Micro SD itself from the phone
Transfer all files cm-10.1-20130105-NIGHTLY-i9100.zip and gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip to the SD card
Put the SD card back into the phone
Hold volume up --> Back and Power and Wait for the samsung logo, let go of the Power! and keep hold until your greeted by the CMW Recovery?
Scroll down to Wipe data/factory reset and hit the power button
Scroll down to Wipe cache partition and hit the power button
Go to install zip from SD card
and browse to cm-10.1-20130105-NIGHTLY-i9100.zip and hit power and hit Yes
let it do all is stuff
browse to gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip and hit power and hit Yes
let it do all is stuff again
then go back to Reboot
All done and you should be greeted by a spinning cyanogenmod logo and goes into 4.2.1 JB by cyanogenmod 10.1
Enjoy, Hope i have help someone!

That's because Siyah kernel doesnt work with 10.1. You need to flash Phillz kernel and dont do it the way you put in first post, its all completley pointless.
Just reboot into recovery or download mode and flash Phillz or other JB leak supported kernel if you want to use leaked Sammy JB.
Or if you had access to the Siyah recovery, you simply could have flashed back your CM nightly. This would have overridden the Siyah kernel with the CM kernel.
I had the same problem yesterday, I installed SiyahKernel S2-v5.0.1 on CM10.1. Didn't see it was not for Android 4.2...
plz rtfm syiha = 4.1.2 leak only
syiha kernel work like a charm with 4.1.2 leaked. i use it in beta 4 and work very well without fc and nice reactivity.
i always use syiha kernel and always satisfied.
please flash a clean 4.1.2 leak before.
and btw if you dont understand what you are doing or dont read syiha disclamer/scope plz stay in native stock phone.
and finaly , plz say thx to the dev even you have problems becose it publish is kernel for dev not for end users.

If that's what the instructions say that is what you do .
It is the instructions is it that you flash a Zip through CWM recovery .
You really need to read the thread again .

That is correct. After you have booted back into your ROM, I'd suggest you installed STweaks from Play Store.
Otherwise, read both the development thread and the Q&A thread.
Happy flashing!

Thanks a lot guys!! I just wondering how good is this latest Siyah Kernel's battery life performance. Any comments which this? I just noticed my phone draining its battery quite drastically. Maybe i have to do something using the STweak app? Undervolting?

Check my profile, and look for my latest post in the MIUI polimorph thread, there's a comment to the ROM and to battery life.

Thanks! I just want to stick with PA 3.15 a while and see how this kernel does with it. Regarding your results, you do it with maximum usage on data/wireless and i wonder how much time you spend on the 'on screen'?

Black Screen when flashing 1.9.1 with CM 10.1

If that's what the instructions say that is what you do .
It is the instructions is it that you flash a Zip through CWM recovery .
You really need to read the thread again .

I currently run Siyah 1.8.9 with CM 10.1 nightly (20130218), and I've tried to flash Siyah 1.9.1 with both Odin (PC) and through CM recovery. Both ways end up with a black screen after the Siyah logo. I've wiped cache and dalvik as well and fixed permissions. I'm not sure what the problem is. Am I missing something in stweaks setup?
thanks in advance.

I actually find Devil kernel (built from perseus sources) much better for battery saving on paranoid android. Its still in its infancy though. Feels faster too

I think you need to flash the latest nightly with factory reset.

Just want to check if anyone here has come across with the following issues...
I recently flashed my SGS2 with ShoStock3 ROM (big thanks to shoman94) + Siyah kernel (big thanks to gokhanmoral). It runs smoothly and seems to have no noticeable issues. However, I noticed these three issues after some go through:
1. Shostock custom boot animation doesn't run at start up. I tried to change the bootanimation.zip using the Root Explorer, but nothing happened.
2. Microphone (when using Google Now voice and Viber) doesn't work. I looked through every settings and found nothing's wrong except that.
3. I can't take a video using the video feature in Instagram, which I didn't bother to check how come.
What I did was reboot my phone into recovery and re-flashed only the ShoStock3 ROM. After I restarted the phone, shostock boot animation showed up and I tested voice feature in Google Now and it worked. Then, I tried the video feature in Instagram and voila, it worked too.
I'm not really sure if they are directly caused by Siyah kernel, therefore, I ask if anybody here has come across with these similar issues. I really like the Siyah kernel coz of CWM and STweaks and I'm wanting to revert to that if I find a resolution to the above issues.
My hardware details:
Samsung Galaxy S II AT&T SGH-i777

Thanks for the info. I'd give the MicSwap a try and see how it goes. :good:
