All data on the phone is, SD card is fine, so pics and videos should be fine.
I've used Titanium for the apps, which in most cases also restores the settings too.
I use google sync, so Contacts are synced as soon as I add my google account to the phone (not sure how the other sync methods work for contact)
Finally, for SMSs I used the SE backup and restore app, and just chose SMS. there is an option for apps on there too, but I haven't used it.
Then, once 2.1 is installed, root, install busybox then use titanium to restore apps (don't restore system settings, as that caused me an issue with WiFi, app setting are fine though), then you will have all of your apps back, then open SE's backup and restore and choose to restore the backup you made earlier for texts
Contacts were auto for me, and photos and other SD contents will need no restoring at all, just view!
Copy and paste for my media files and SD card, and I used gmail and MyPhoneExplorer for my contacts. Titanium should do your apps and settings for them, but being a whole OS I just started from scratch with them.

[Q] How to backup and restore stock memo data?

Hey Guys,
I have tried the backup and restore for stock memo data through Kies and it works great. But I don't want to do that. Every time I start Kies, something will surely get stuck.
I did a quick search on the forum and the only thing I could find was getting the memo.db file. However, I couldn't find it on my phone. In fact, I couldn't even locate the folder.
Anyways, Please help if you know of any app or any way I can do this painlessly without Kies, prefereably to my DropBox.
I have Galaxy Ace, running 2.3.4 (not rooted)
TIA!
You could use the Pro version of Titanium Backup.
First, click your memo app from list -> Backup (app+data)* -> synch to dropbox.
*you can chose only data as well if you want to reinstall the app via market.
When you need to restore it just download the files from your dropbox, the files are stored in ur SD-card as well.
off topic: TIA = This Is Africa as well xD

How to use TitaniumBackup correctly?

Hey guys,
i now want to flash a new ROM on my phone but before i did some backups with TitaniumBackup on my original HTC Firmware.
Now i flashed the ROM (which already includes TitaniumBackup) but this can't restore my backed-up apps, because I can't find them.
When I plug the phone to USB I can see all Backups on my SD-Card, but TitaniumBackup does not show the possibility of recovering the apps.
What can I do? Do I have to set the path to the old backups somewhere?
Greez, skrippi
try uninstalling titanium and reinstalling it.
If you have the paid version, you could store everything in the remote server and just download all your apps again.

Upgrading to the s3

How do i transfer all my data over to the new phone?
I have many apps that i use along with Angry Birds that i have played for a long time and have achieved 3 stars in practually all levels.
Im thinking of doing an exchange to keep the hit in the pocket smaller, and therefore need to hand over a completely re set and clean phone.
Thanks.
You need to backup all your data first.
1) Download Titanium Backup and backup all user data and apps.
Then plug the phone to the computer and copy all Titanium Backup folder to your local computer.
2) Run a rom backup using Rom Manager / just reboot to recovery and backup.
afterwards copy the backup to your local computer, just incase of emergency.
After getting Galaxy S3, download Titanium Backup on it as well, then copy the Titanium Backup folder from your local pc (from S2) to the S3, and run recovery from the application.
No guarantee there would be 100% fit but it should work...
Also, see if your apps provide some kind of logging in process. Then you can login, save all your data to that profile, and login from different devices with same profile...
Thanks for replying , i was hoping not to root the phone.
For the normal rom backup you don't have to root... And try finding logging in... Perhaps its that easy.
