ICS colors - HTC Rezound

I'm updated with the latest ICS leak, not rooted, why in the hell are my colors in my taskbar still gingerbread green?
Sent from my Rezound using xda app-developers app

I think it is supposed to be that way.

The colors the OEM's choose don't have to correspond with the Google colors. Most OEM's prioritize maintaining a consistent look and feel over the life of the product to updating the interface with every upgrade. That helps reduce the customer support volume they get. You have to remember, we aren't typical users. The vast majority of Rezound users don't have a clue what Ice Cream Sandwich is or why they want it...they just want their phone to work.

That my friend is what is called htc sense. Have you never seen it before? They could care less what google makes the color or the os.

but mine is blue. :/

Live water wallpaper

I give Samsung credit for their water live wallpaper. It's not as obtrusive as the HTC version that animates water over rocks. Has anyone seen one for our phone that is as well done?
Side note - - For those craving S Voice, it's not that much better than the few voice recognition programs we can get on the store. It's actually designed by Vlingo. Download their beta version and it's almost the same. Unless it's really embedded in the os, it's rather useless. I already waste too much time yelling at the automated phone systems, no need to yell at our phones too. Every iPhone user told me after two weeks, they stop using it.

Dynamic Ripples/Touch Ripples are the best I've seen, boot in the play store.

Quick question

I was looking at a gs3 and my EVO side by side. I know that both have the same processor.
What I wanted to know is why does Sammy seem to be able to make the interface so smooth? Don't get me wrong, this phone is HTC's smoothest yet, but the frame rate is still not as consistent as the galaxy. They both have similar insides and are built upon the same os, so what does Sammy do to achieve this?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Your asking the evo 4G lte forums why the s3 is so smooth?
Honestly, it's probably sense, but touchwiz looks like crayola designed it

I agree, it is probably Sense. But I have used both, and I would take Sense over TouchWiz any day.

I def agree. People like touchwiz because its bright and catches your eye quickly. But underneath, its weak.

I think HTC is a poor software company. Grand ambitions but they never execute really. And, I don't get it really. I bet they literally lose sales due to the stutters in the sense launcher.
I really loved sense. It's aesthetically pleasing, efficient, and has some of the best widgets I've used. But the stutter when switching home screens was too much. I mean, devs can lock down the framerate and eliminate lag but HTC doesn't think to do that? Blows my mind.
Again, its the sense launcher. Rather than root, I installed novalauncher. Smooth as butter. Significantly smoother than sense. And, the launcher is installed on top of sense. Shows you how great the hardware is and how poorly optimized sense is.
Maybe we'll get an OTA that'll address these issues. I hope so. I did read somewhere ages ago that HTC only had 4 months to design sense 4.0 so that may be the source of the problem. Maybe they've got something up their sleeve when they roll out jellybean.
Try a launcher like apex or nova prime if you want a smoother experience.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
the current launcher is actually not that bad, as i am using the enhanced stock rom. its just always stymied me why the frame difference, and I agree that it seems that Samsung has slightly better programmers.
But honestly Sense definitely has more utility than touchwiz

Aria market

Anyone know how many Arias were sold and any estimates for how many may still be in use? Just wandering about what the market is for continuing the rom upgrade work for this phone.

I have a one x now but just flashed winsuks cm9 port Rom. I still play with it and will use as a back up phone but lately its my toddlers mp3 player/princess game device lol

I still use it as my main phone. I flashed munjenis cm9 ROM which is working great for me. I just bought it two months before the Desire C came out, so I want to keep using it for at least one year. Maybe then something better comes up, who knows?

I got it in the beginning of the year, so just like dansou901 I wanna keep it for a while. I love this phone and I hope it gets support for a little longer.
This is an awesome phone for my first Android!
You're right, it's awesome, but it is only Arm v6, so it won't be compatible to newer software...

I just like the small size and it's elegant design. I am also impressed with how the rom developers have been able to keep it current with ICS and now JB. And particularly how other developers have overcome the memory limitations with programs like S2E. Just what is the appeal of a 5" screen?
Sent from my Aria using xda app-developers app
I still have 2 Aria's, one with CM7 and the other with CM9. I love what I think is the prefect size of these phones. It's too bad HTC hasn't built another similar sized phone with more memory and processor power.

whats so hot about ICS on the EVO 3D?

I have my EVO 3d pretty much exactly how I want it. 1st question is if I up grade I will have to re install everything won't I?
2nd, what new features will I get?
The evo 3D wasn't built for ice cream sandwich, so you can't get all of what ICS has to offer. I personally am disappointed with ics on my 3D.

Actually ics is available for evo 3d as an upgrade, there is a new version of sense 3.6 which gives you ics plus some nice features on sense, new homescreen and dock, there's some minor tweaks, to many to go into detail. Now sense 4 is as available but it was not designed for the evo, so there are minor things which don't work but it's overall much nicer with more shortcuts and improvements. Hope this helps, Sense 3.6 with ics will improve overall performance, minor over gb but improvements.

you're right - the evo3d was not built for ICS - but HTC has built ICS for the evo3d
ICS has been integrated into a full system update to the phone , unrooted
so. you get everything the evo3d has to offer - 3d pictures and video, 4g wimax, and everything else supported by the makers of the phone
plus a better and faster system with much better battery life and features , over gingerbread
.
so what are you talking about?

I don't understand what you mean. You build the software for the hardware not the other way around. It's just a little tiny bit easier to change software than hardware...

its ok - i dont think anyone really understood
to answer the OP - you wont have to reinstall anything - the device will update itself (if we are talking about official htc OTA update) --- if we are talking about rooted developed roms, then yes , reinstall or restore a backup
also read here to find out new features - http://developer.sonymobile.com/wp/...ical-differences-between-gingerbread-and-ics/

wow! if this is your answer, then technically any phone that did not come stock with ICS was "not built for ICS" I personally think ics is way better than GB! Multi tasking is a pretty awesome feature! As far as I know, ICS was designed to work better on dual core phones... the EVO3D was one of the first dual core phones sprint released, so I would say that it utilizes ICS perfectly

It's disappointing that HTC gives you half a** quick settings in the pull down menu for ICS. No on/off selection for wifi nor auto screen orientation. You can't even add settings or change them.
Tapping on total memory to pull up and close apps takes over 10 seconds at times to load running apps.
I'm definitely rooting this replacement phone.

Well there's also the free dropbox storage for a year. I don't remember whether its +3 or +5 GB, either way its a boon.

Stock ICS on the Evo 3D is great. It's much smoother than stock GB, has some nice new features and there are a few ICS and higher only apps(like Chrome) that you can't install on GB.
Why aren't you running JB?

I had this same frustration as well, until I started using Go Switch widget. Try it. I'm sure it'll solve most of your issues.

I was thinking of downloading a 3rd party status bar widget, but I hear that it consumes battery faster.

I upgraded, not sure how I feel about it yet, but I will have to get used to the new notification sounds
For one, I've never had the double blur 3d bug that soooo plagued GB when viewing 3d pics in gallery.
Two, the 3.0 kernel has given much better power management.
I am having no issues with ICS and very happy with the OS upgrade.

I think ICS is not as smooth as GB, but there are some cool features. The screen off battery life is awesome, but the battery life seems worst when multitasking. I only got about 3 1/2 hours while listening to music, web surfing, texting, ect. On zr3d v 4.3 I got about 4 1/2 hours.
Im really like my ics rom.. d3rp drama.. Chrome and Google Now..

Plain old phone rom?

Has anyone ever thought of making a plain phone rom? The only thing it does is make calls? It would be like 30mb or less rom, insane boot times, underclocked, insane battery life. Might have texting as well. This would be mainly for giggles but might be a fun project for someone to do.

With all due respect, that sounds like a huge developmental waste of time.. If a person ser wants a phone like that s/he can just gut a stock rom out with titanium backup. Just my 2 cents

who would want to neuter their EVOLTE?
That really might not be a bad idea now but I would only use it to flash back from aosp just to update my profile and prl. So the smaller it is the faster it would load and the less time I will have to spend on a sense rom.

I think it was during the Hero days that there was a ROM for that purpose, a tiny ROM to update PRL and profile
i might make a stock with goodies tiny edition
i think its a good idea
LOL Why would you want to take away our smart phone's education? It's having a hard enough time getting into UJB (University of Jelly Bean)
Nokia 3310 would do the job...

Would be cool to give it a monochrome theme. Make it green with black text like the first LCD sprint phones.
Or have a Nokia style, with signal bars on left, battery bars on right then date and time in center.
Would be a novelty I guess. They have text messaging apps that have this theme. Becomes an eyesore faster than u would think.
