Hi everyone,
I'm having a messed up problem here. Í've just bought a htc one x plus and after unboxing I did not have wifi for the first 45mins.
After that I had wifi for like 2 days and after the 2 days it suddenly couldn't connect again. Just out of nothing! All other devices like the Ipad, galaxy note and a windows phone got wifi.
When we remove the WPA-WPA2 security it can connect with no problems. Also at my girlfriend her house it can connect with no problems (She has a WPA-WPA2 security aswell)
It keeps looping at: verfying, connecting, receiving ip, verfying, connecting, receiving ip.. just keeps looping
We even replaced the entire router (We have a linksys router) with a newer model. After that I had wifi, so I thought the problem was solved. But after 2 days it couldn't connect again, once again out of nothing. Again the wifi connecting loop..
Can anyone please help me what to do? And can anyone please tell me if my phone is broken? I'm about to send it back...
Some more info:
Router brand: linksys
Security: WPA-WPA2
Problem: Can't get through the security of WPA-WPA2 at home.
MAC: We don't use mac codes to lock devices out of our network
Peers: We do not have a limit on peers so everyone with the password can connect
i cant say much but try thing that worked on HTC ONE X

Thanks for absolutely nothing, this does not apply to the One X+ in the slightest.
This is a software issue, mess with wifi settings to see if you can get it to work.
have you tried to assign it a static IP?
Then this might help.
See this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1973870

I'm having the same issue where I can't connect at work, but I can at home. Both protected networks.

Yes, because his advice is highly likely to send the person down the wrong road and on the path of warranty voiding if the user tries to do a self-repair.

Well I am facing almost similar kind of a problem. The phone wifi fails upon insertion of a SIM card. I am in touch with hTC support on this to no avail. Haven't found any good advice here except rooting the phone and trying WIFIX. I believe the moderators should combine all the WIFI and SIM related issues in one thread for One-X+ this now getting serious and is not one isolated case.

It does not look like you are having the same issue as Mrphazon. As the original post states, they are having a random loss of WiFi that can take a few days to happen. Two different routers both at home. You say that your issue is at work but fine at home which is different.
I hate when people see one device not working and all others are, it has to be the fault of their device. This is the wrong way to think. If a router locks up, devices with a valid IP address will continue to work. Only the devices which request a new IP will not work. If you could never connect at work, then you never got a valid IP.
So seeing you can connect at home, try a friend's network or several hotspots. If they all work, then get your IT department at work to power cycle the router/access point. If a power cycle does not work, then check your password. I'm almost 99.9% sure you do not have a problem with your device.
As for Mrphazon, seeing the same issue on two different routers indicates a good chance it is the phone.

Interesting problem... Do you happen to know what features your SIM supports?
I have used HSPA, and now I'm using an LTE SIM. Both work fine. If you have one of the new NFC SIMs (used for their new payment system) that Blackberry now supports, could be the problem, just a guess
Also if you have not replaced your SIM in a number of years it would be a good time to replace... but I'm guessing you have tried more than one already.

Maybe that's how you should've phrased it in the first place? Instead of saying "thanks for absolutely nothing." Or, you could've just said, "I don't think that will work because I believe it's a software issue."

Actually it is the same issue as I didn't think I needed to go into great detail since he already had. I was able to get connected at work and then it wouldn't after about 4 hours. Just kept cycling through trying to connect.
I was able to connect at home and while he couldn't with it being password, he is able to at his GF's which is password protected.
I've had the router reset. No luck.

I really had bad experiences with Linksys routers and several notebooks and Android phones. I wouldn't say you should buy a new router but have you looked if you have the newest firmware for your router? I have an Asus router and have no problems anymore. Before that I had a trendnet and it worked very well too. I bought before two Linksys routers because that's all what they had at Bestbuy and I had trouble with disconnects and slow connections etc. How many devices are connected to your router? Some routers don't like it if too many devices are connected on the same frequency to it.
Wifi ... repair ... wifix ... argh!!!!!!!!!!
Well I dont know which features does it support, I will google for the types of SIM Cards, already changed one as you had rightly pointed out. To clear the list I have checked following:
1. I have checked that my country (Pakistan) service provider is compatible with the phone.
2. I have checked multiple SIMS even tried a European SIM with the same result.
3. The set is WWE and not bound to any plan/carrier.
4. Had sent the set to retailer in UK, who checked and says its fine, they have sent it to hTC repair/support who say they have repaired it. However when i received the set yesterday back here in Pakistan, it is the same with the same issue of wifi & bluetooth dying upon insert of SIM card.
5. I have rooted the phone, tried WiFix to no avail.
One thing I noticed while pressing wifi on/off button, when i press, following status flashes ->Turning On-> Scanning-> Disconnected-> On. This happens in a split of a second.
Any guidance would really be helpful.

Yeah. It solved my issue. Thanks
Over 40 minutes of messing around my D-Link router, my One X Plus (aka Khwan) stopped being able to connect to my home wifi.
The suggestion of static IP gave me an idea of what could have caused the problem... so I undid what I'd previously modified on the router, which was disabling DHCP server.
I'm no techie, but DHCP basically assigns a random IP to the devices that connect to the router... for some reason, Khwan can't get one on its own without the DHCP being enabled, and that's why your problem got solved when you assigned it a Static IP.
Ultimately, all you have to do is get into the router settings, and enable DHCP! This way, neither you nor your future visitors will have any problems connecting to that router.
In addition, assigning a static IP might cause a problem later on, when connecting to a big network for example, where that specific IP is already taken (through the DHCP's allocation of IPs)... Then again, I don't know if the "assign static ip" in the advanced settings when connecting to the router stands for settings for when connecting to that router, alone or not.
In short: the solution is not assigning your phone a static IP. It's enabling DHCP on the router.
You're welcome.

Well I got hold of my hTC One X+ and imported it directly from Clove.co.uk to Pakistan. I got the phone yesterday i.e. November 4, 2012. Picked my home wifi signal downstairs (my wifi router is upstairs). Worked fine, synced everything. I operated the phone initially without the SIM card. I got the SIM card cut (for conversion) to micro, and the phone worked fine.
Then I had two issues:
1. Suddenly all the signals from my service provider (mobilink) vanished. A reboot, turn off and restart and SIM re-insertion helped.
2. my wifi is disappeared, cannot connect to any wifi signal (cant connect to my HTC desire hotspot) or cant leech neighbors open wifis.
Have read the forums. didnt dared try to upload the custom rom / radio of one-x to this set.
so thats a hands-on review in the first few hours of hTC One X+.... is there any one who have the device and had the same issues? Posted hTC support too. Will be contacting clove.co.uk for support too?
factory resetted the phone... again picked my home connection from the start, but again showing disconnected wifi after full configuration is done. No wifi connections shown? probably a software issue?

I have narrowed down the issue to my SIM card. After one factory reset, I didn't insert my SIM card module, and went ahead with the settings. The phone till the end showed the all the available networks around me. The moment I inserted my SIM card module, the wifi networks just disappear and wont come back.

Well I will switch the wifi network standard to UK, as the set was purchased from UK. However the issue is whenever I insert the SIM card of cell operator. The wifi goes dead, as i cant see any network, and wifi going for interrupted scanning. though the network is available, and until and unless i go for factory reset, the wifi doesnt come back. I believe its region locking issue with wifi, i guess i have to wait till i get a proper WWE based RUU for One-X+
suggestions welcome. Although I have a return ticket open from the supplier.
HTC One X+ Wifi issues on sim insertion
I bought my HTC One X+ a couple of days ago from the UAE. But for some reason I can't get the wifi to work with a pakistani service provider (ufone). When I reset the phone and inserted a vodafone sim instead which had roaming activated, the Wifi worked fine.
I have found a couple of solutions but they both involve rooting my phone. Wouldnt that leave my warranty void? I want to be on the safe side, and so am cautious about rooting it. Are there any alternative solutions? Would claiming my warranty help?

Did you get you problem solved? If yes, how
I've fix it by work around
I've got my hox+ from UK, and currently operated in Egypt (vodafone), I was having wifi problem, it's only connected for 2-3 minutes then no connectivity in the meanwhile it shows it's connected to the wifi, I did a factory reset then I've skipped account registration once it's started, e.g google account, facebook account and so, then I've added one by one from the accounts in the settings, and the wifi is working fine now
Thanks Yasser,
Did you leave it connected to wifi after factory reset, or you didn't add wifi till the time you had connected your google accounts. A detail step by step work around will be appreciated.

I have a HTC Desire X With Stock firmware, Android Version 4.1.1. Problem is that 3G is not working on it. I have checked the settings and everything is fine there. I have troubleshoot a little bit, by exchanging both the sim card and the phone, and there is deffinetly something wrong With either hardware or software of that particular mobile phone. The problem is that when i turn On/Off the mobile data button on the phone, it simply does not do anything at all, apart from turning the little text right beneath the Mobile data from Off to disconnected, and all this occurs in a blink of a second. I never see any bar in the status bar whatsoever, seems like it is totally dead. What should i do? should i reinstall the firmware on it, in that case how? And please dont talk about custom firmware as this is mobile phone is owned by a Company and not me.

Why not contact your service provider and tell them that you cannot connect to 3G it might be some problem with your service provider

Check if you have the right APN's for your service provider. Also, check if the Desire X's bands match your service provider's bands.
I had a similar problem because I used the sim card older than 10 years, when I changed and put a new one everything was ok

Sorry for a delayed reply but i have already checked the things you guys are mentioning without luck. I have used the same sim in another cell phone and it worked just fine. I also used the other cell phone and made sure desire x had the same settings as the other one but didnt help at all.
I am experincing another issue with another Htc cell phone aswell, its Htc one S, it simply is unable to detect my home wifi, it scans and finds all other wifi networks but for some reason not mine at home. I got like 10 other devices connected to tht particular wifi so wifi and router is just fine. But htc one s is simply not detecting it, what to do?

hmm guess you network antenna has some issues have it checked with a HTC service centre as a friends of mine had the same wih his one x+ and he replaced it so it might be the same case for you its not your sim provider thats causing the problems
HTC one s has a lot of connectivity issues and i have seen it often resulting replacing the motherboard in worst cases however i also get this error on my desire x quite a lot of times you can do it in two ways...
method 1- delete your wifi set up in your phone of your router and hit reboot and then try it should be able to detect it
method 2-if you are a person like me who has the router constantly on due to your wifi needs disconnect and reconnect your router after a few mins it again should be identified with you phone dont know why HTC phones does this but its a common thing...

Thanks for replying, but dude as for the HTC One S, i do not have any profile of my own router stored on the phone, which i can delete, because i never get the chance to connect to it, as it is not showing as an option to connect to, simply because htc one s is unable to detect it at all. I will give it a try to reboot my router and see if that helps. as for the htc desire X, i guess i have to send that telephone back for service.
Hi
I did reset my router, and it finally started to appear on my cell phone, thats nice. But i am having some other issues. Now i am connected to the wifi but it wont work on internett or any other thing working with internett. With other words, i do have a connection, but still nohing is working. And there is nothing wrong with my WIFI.
Another questio, how do i reinstall the stock firmware on HTC desire X?
So I have a Note 2 and a HTC one, for about three weeks I used my HTC one and then i switched back to my note 2. Yesterday I wanted to use my HTC one but every time I insert the sim card I get a no service message. what can I do to fix this?
I did not root the phone BTW.
Have you found a resolution? I just ran into the same problem. Phone was working great, then one Sunday afternoon it just stopped getting a signal. It's not the SIM as it works fine in my old SGSII (had to make SIM adapter). I am rooted and unlocked and running non stock recovery but still on stock kernel/radio. Haven't contacted HTC yet for obvious reasons.
I've had this happen a lot with my phone on tmobile. I live in a concrete basement apartment where there's no reception and if the phone goes more than 15 hours without any signal I almost always(80%ish) have to call tmobile and have them deactivate/reactivate the sim from their end.
A fix you can try that they swear "usually works" is go to settings/mobile data/network operators/search automatically
If that doesn't work then try settings/mobile data/access point names/menu/reset to default
Apparently these settings can be reset pretty easily when the phone doesn't connect to a network for a bit, but all this might just be a tmobile thing
I have a bit different problem - I bought HTC One from T-mobile and unlocked it. I tooked it with me to Europe and device does work with american sim (ATT and TMO) but it wont recognize any of my national carriers. Insterting simcards(perfectly working) does not give me reception or anything. Sim cards are the same thing in EU and US I think - also those are GSM phones. I have friends having same problems with their S4 from AT&T in Europe. Does anybody know something to help make this device work?
OP - this happened to my Wife's phone for no apparent reason one day. I simply removed & reinserted the SIM and rebooted a couple of times, hasn't had a problem since.

Same problem here. I am on paranoid android though so maybe that has something to do with it. When I go into the settings to connect to the t mobile network, it says "your sim card is not authorized" or something like that. Maybe it's cuz I haven't paid my bill for 2 months? Lol but I don't think that's reason for them to block my sim :/

I had the same problem and I had to restart my phone sometimes several times a day, sometimes I had to remove the sim card enclosure and reinsert it in order for my phone to get a signal. So I contacted HTC and they told me that I probably had a defective sim card enclosure so they sent me a new one. After I installed the new sim card enclosure with the same sim card I had before the problem went away. I've been without any problems for the past four months or so since I got the replacement sim enclosure
type *#*#4636#*#* -> phone information -> make sure GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto selected and Turn off radio
If you see turn on radio click that to turn on the radio. Is some cases the radio gets turned off and a reboot doesnt fix. This is the only way I know to recover it.
I've this same issue!
Did anybody found a solution?? I already tried everything... but seems like the phone is not blacklisted.. in case it is, something I can do? besides change my IMEI.
Thanks!!

Make sure your Apn is set up correctly. If you go to settings>Mobile Data>APN you can see your apn and compare it to other tmoblie ones

Radio chip
I wonder if anyone can help please. My M7 can't connect to the network. The radio isn't turned off, I checked using the code given by Shane_pcs, so I know it is a hardware problem. I suspect the radio chip has worked loose somehow and isn't making contact like it should. Any tips on how to resolve this please? I have seen a tear down of the M7, but don't know if anyone on here has attempted to secure the radio chip before...not even sure what the chip itself looks like. Any ideas please? Thank you.

I have a problem with my Galaxy s6 Edge.
When browsing the web with only mobile data turned on, wether using edge/3g/lte, the mobile loses connection .
I still have connection visible in the status bar, but wepages stop recieving data and it just stays hanging, with the loading bar at the same place. It can be fine for 3-4 minutes and then start to act up again.
One sollution is to toggle data connection on/off, then it will work again, but only for a couple of minutes. My phone is unrooted. I have tried factory reset. I have tried using the different settings in mobile data; just gsm7just wcdma and wcdma/gsm- automatic etc. The signal strenght seem to be about 75-77dbma.
Do anyone have the same problem, know of a cause for this, or have possible a sollution? Please share
I've had a similar issue a few times now. No discernable cause. Solved by airplane mode toggle.
Sent from my SM-G925V using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, I will try that, but think thats about the same effect as toogling data. It helps, but the problem is still there. I sent an mail to Samsung about this issue. Hope it is software related and can be fixed. Its frustrating cause I`m reliant on stable data connection. When logging in again, the webpage has changed and i`ve lost my opportunity.

I have the same issue, and connection drop even if u you are in thetering mode(wifi/usb)
I got new mobile (replaced from vendor) and the new one have similar issue.
I try on lte/wcdma - only wcdma, with one apn and so on.... nothing to do problem is still there...
Sorry to hear that! Its a shame paying this much money and find out about these problems. This phone replaced my s4 because of the "sim card not detected-restart" error on the s4. First Samsung denied the issue. When they admitted it, I had already opened it up and exchanged the sim card reader, and lost warranty. That was not the fix.
Hope the issue will be fixed with updates. Lesson learned- Dont buy first batch of mobiles. Wait for prices to go down, and a more mature hardware.

I have the exact same issue on my s6. I can't figure out why it happens. It appears and disappears for no obvious reason. I wouldn't mind waiting for a software update to solve the problem but I can't stop wondering if I have a defective unit.
I' starting to wonder if there are network changes on the phobecausing this. The signal keeps going from H to H+. And maybe the adapter has to reset before it can download again. Just a hunch, but I have noe knowledge about what's happening.
But, if this was a widespread problem, I think more people would come forward saying they have this issue. If they don't have it, then maybe we got bad lemons, and we have too keep exchanging til we find one that works.
Its an software problem ( i guess of managing "swap" between h h+ and LTE. after 7 day of test i got the mobile replaced from mediaworld, and the new one have the same issue.
Im from italy with Vodafone, maybe all of us are vodafone.
can be interesting discover from where we are and our mobile company.

I'm using "Telenor" here in Norway. They have a 1 month deal with Samsung to be the only supplier of the edge. Tried to get internet/mms setup sent from them, but it said this wasn't available for this phone. But going to their guide, it seems everything I set up as it should.
I tried switching on the data roaming. That seems to solve the issue so far. I haven't had to switch the data on and off for more than 24 hours now. Before this I had to do it multiple times every day. I guess it's safe to say that the problem came from the software side. Let's hope that fix it in the next update. I'm using international version, though.

I just turned on the data roaming, but still on the same service. Now I can't really tell if that really did the trick. I got new firmware update just the day before yesterday and now the network drop is gone. If you haven't got any update yet maybe you just gotta wait. It's eventually fixed.

I have the same problem with a Samsung S6, AOE3. I want to return or change the phone, but I don't know if this is a software or a hardware problem....and to have the same problem with the next phone
I've got the same issue. Only airplane mode on and off helped me. But I've to do it many times during the day. I wrote a letter to Samsung and waiting their response.
Just read about roaming "on" as one of the users mentioned here, still testing.
PS I'm from Russia (on local forum many people has this problem). Hope this is software problem.
Same problem about my s6 edge mobile data connection
Still dont know what happen . I already have note series but there's nothing like this one. this make browsing much harder coz data stuck and keep hanging bout 1-2 minutes. Please make it fix ASAP . I love my s6edge
I am from Canada i have same issue plus my phone does not even have lte/gsm/wcdma option but still when i go on the *#2263# menu and put my phone to lte/wcdma it looses connection in like 5 minutes.
but still if i am connected to the internet same issue connection stops and it starts woking after a minute or so but really really frustating specially with a price tag on this phone.

Hey all,
I am hoping somebody can guide me in regards to an issue I am facing.
I was working on my car a few days back and left the Elephone S8 on the car seat not realizing that it was being hit directly by the sun. After I was done, I picked up the phone and it was very very hot. I then went inside and let the phone cool off.
Since the above, I notice that I struggle to pick up reception. I have tried different firmware, replaced sim cards, everything. It seems to only be affecting certain MHZ bands as 4G LTE work, 3G works fine, and 2G works find but not always.
I have a feeling the 2G is having issues but maybe only certain bands. I do not think it is software related but have no idea where to even start on the hardware side. I first want to try scan for towers and see which bands they use and try see which one could be giving the issue. I don't expect it to just be a lose connector as the phone has not been dropped and I have only been using it for 2 weeks. If I do send it back under warranty for repairs, they will never pick up this issue.
Elephone S8 loss of network issue
Hi.
I think is a hardware issue as the same thing happened to me after 3 weeks perfect use.
I think has nothing to do with the sun as for me happened on a snowy Sunday 10th of December in London.
I suddenly noticed that when sending email the sending would start fast and after a 2-3 seconds the network will drop to 3G and stay like that for long time until the mail app stops sending process and the phone goes back to LTE 4G.
Also when dialling a number the phone will drop from 4G to 3G and than loose the connection straight away.
When indoors the phone would have trouble registering to network for ages without success.
I picked up 4 different pay as you go cards to make shure that is not my network but still no success.
All documented in the support ticket to GB and yesterday have send it back for a refund.
I really like the phone but i am reluctant to buy another if the issue persist so will wait and see.
Hope some more comments will follow to highlight the problem and influence a solution to this.
Cheers
I have the same issue - my wireless connection inside my home keeps dropping and connecting off and on again and again - I have two routers and maybe as I move from room to room it tries to connect to the closest router or something like that - not sure if there is a way to fix it without doing something in the routers.

Same problem here
My network problems are a little different. I don't have problems connecting to different wifi networks (home and work) but the phone does not activate mobile data when leaving a wifi network. I always have to restart the phone when I want to use mobile data (3G).
Kind of the same problem. Have my S8 for about a month. First it has a wifi network. When I leave the place where it is connected to wifi, it goes to 4G. But when I come back to a place with WIFI, the phone does not find any WIFI network. I have to reboot the phone. Soft reboot(a little faster) will also do/work.

I have the same problems with stock rom and eragon rom. I don't have a solution but I'm still hoping for a new update.
For now I found out that turning flight mode on and off again helps to switch between wifi and mobile data, so it is not necessary to reboot the phone every time.
I can confirm as well that Eragon won't resolve 3G / 4G network issues.
I'm using my S8 for a week now with only one problem, call related.
No wifi problems but after one day of usage I couldn't use mobile data anymore I almost re-flashed my phone (unlocked bootloader, rooted and using Xposed). Turned out my provider f*cked things up. Probably because Elephone is a not known brand here. It took me some time to convince the agent on the phone that I do not own a Samsung S8 lol.
Problem was solved at the providers end.

This information sounds interesting. How did you manage to 'convince' the providers agent that it is not Samsung? And what did you tell it instead?
Steve the issue you have is different. Your issue won't be resolved that way.
You would need an app that switches to 3G/4G if WiFi is not connected.
Happy too soon. After one day with mobile data it's gone again. There's a cross in the lower right corner of the mobile data icon in the status bar. I'll be calling my provider again tomorrow morning.

I'm not sure if the fact that I own a brand that is unknown here causes the mobile data problems. The problems I'm running into atm are
- mobile data problems, 4G is connected, but no internet
- fingerprint scanner doesn't work with my banking app
- backlight bleed in the middle of my screen
- after 3 out of 4 calls, phone freezes for about 30 seconds
- rattle in fingerprint scanner
I guess I'm about to find out how good the return policy at Banggood is ?
I highly recommend that you return the phone now.
There are so many issues with the phone that it's just not worth the time.
Hi guys, I just got the phone, but mobile data is not working. Am I missing something?
Can you attach a screenshot
screenshots: https://photos.app.goo.gl/1XdRma9YJacb4b2b2
Does your sim card work in another phone? If so, are the apn settings the same?
I managed to resolve the issue.
I'm trying to figure what went wrong at start. When I got a phone I inserted both SIM cards like this:
SIM 1 - my business phone number - provider 1
SIM 2 - my personal phone number - provider 2
I wanted to use data only on my personal phone number, so I disabled data on business number. What happened is my business SIM downloaded APN info on first boot (i assume), and then my personal SIM used this APN (which was incorrect).
To resolve issue I first inserted my personal SIM to slot 1 alone and booted. Then I changed APN profile to match my old phone's, turned off phone and inserted my business SIM to slot 2 and booted.
Now data works fine. Obviously there was APN issue but how come that phone didn't get correct APN settings per SIM?
Thanks for support!
