*Cleaned up OP. Started collecting too many old links. *
I saw this on the news page and have been following it since then. Google Now finally comes to ICS and should work with any AOSP ROMs.
Latest Development as of 8-6-12: There has been some new developments on this. XDA user cajunflavoredbob has put together a nice write up on explaining everything and new downloads. Check it out here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29756226&postcount=2856
I flashed it right over my ParanoidAndroid ROM and also AOKP and it works great. Should work fine on CM9 as well but I havent tested that. As always, backing up before flashing is a good idea.
VIDEO: XDA member Tomsgt has made a video showing how to install and also a little sample of what it looks on our phone. Check it out here:

I saw this on the news page. I believe CM9 is AOSP based so it should work for us too. I'm in the process of backing up my ROM now before trying it. I'm at work so I may not get around to it right away. But if anyone else wants to try it out, here is the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749045
EDIT: Ok, I got it working partially. The voice search, for some reason, doesnt work. But manually typing it in does. I dont know if there is a fix for that. I'm in the forum seeing if there are any answers to this. But it does work, somewhat, if anyone wants to try it out.

I will post here when there is voice search fix. Apparently its getting worked on. As it is right now though, its pretty cool. Searching for stuff works just the same and you get the "cards" feature. I never used the Google search box before so I didnt really mind replacing it.
Bump for OP change.
So far I'm not too impressed with how it works in cm9. It's very sluggish for me, I have to touch the screen after searches to get results to "refresh", and it has caused a reboot twice while doing a voice search. I flashed via cm7 recovery, cleared dalvik and cache. Also for some reason I can't get it to add a shorts team to the sports card.
Can you get it to use dolphin browser for web search results?

Just remember most issues with ics/jb stuff is because our kernal is ancient and way outdated, the fact that it runs this well on a gb kernal blows me away

This is what I was thinking. For our phone being what it is, it runs pretty well. All features are there, but yeah...it does have its bugs still.

The search results show in google now's built in browser. I dont think you can change that. But any link you select in the results should open in whatever browser you have set as default.

So is this even worth flashing? Is it still sluggish and not very fluid? I'm guessing yes seeing as we still have an old kernal?

It is still a little buggy/sluggish. But every feature is present in this. You will get notifications and cards and voice search and it will talk back to you. If you don't even use the built in search now, then you have nothing to lose.

This is actually really sweet. It's very buggy for me though so i decided to go back to my nandroid before i installed it. Love it! Great progress but it was having some random reboots and force closes and some other things. Just an update from me.

Hey a little help here. I have this issue right now (stuck on samsung logo) after trying to root with Odin. I am following the directions on another post to go back to the official firmware but i'm having a problem locating the S/N. This is a replacement phone i got out of warranty last week. I was able to root/unroot my old phone but that was still in GB b/c I didn't update it due to the bugs in ICS. Well this one already had ICS and now I'm having a ****load of problems.
The only numbers I see on the phone behind battery is the
IMEI
SKU
FCC ID
Where do I find the S/N to put into keis so I can go back to the official firmware?
Is it not under the IMEI bar code on the sticker under the battery?
Should see S/N then a number.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
No it's not there
All it has is
Model: SGH-1717
IMEI: ######/##/#####/#
(barcode)
SKU: S####
(barcode)
FCC ID: A3LSGHI717
Made in Korea M34 CE0168

if i do so by pressing the vol up + on button and releasing the power button when the screen comes on then No i can't. It just stays on samsung logo again.
I can still enter into download mode though
Try holding power, and vol up and vol down until it vibrates. Then release power but still hold up and down. See what happens then.

I just got my Note back from Samsung 3 days ago from installing this ROM & copying another kernel on top of it. I thought that was my fault. So today I try it again without adding the other kernel and I'll be damned if it didn't brick again. I installed it and December's latest Gapps. Last time it took 10 days turnaround time. This time 2 holidays are in the mix.
I advise anyone to be careful with this one. I've used Liquid in the past with good results. I don't know why all of a sudden that now this is happening. The only thing that makes me wonder if this ROM is 4.1 and the Gapps could be 4.2 and could that cause this. I'm going to leave this one alone from now on.
No d2att is NOT our phone. Quincy att is. Your phone is again a brick. You must jtag if you want it fixed. D2 is the s3 I think.

Wow. You should really learn more about this before doing it.
The rom really should had had a fail safe in the install script to prevent this from happening. Most do.
Note 1 is quincyatt.
From CyanogenMod: Samsung Galaxy S III (AT&T) - d2att
Thanks guys. I see now. I knew quincy was on the nightly's we use.
If you'd read the tons of "Help me I bricked my note" threads you'd see a common issue... "I flashed liquid"

Please do not create a thread that can be answered by a little research. Additionally, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT ROM FOR THE RIGHT PHONE....
I know it is frustrating sometimes flashing devices, but the best recommendation is to REALLY do the research PRIOR to flashing a rom..... not after
Good luck on getting it fixed.......

Several Roms out there for the Note II but not a lot of them unless they are Verizon Versions on the Software Some of the VZW Apps Don't work properly This should Fix the GPS Issue you might ran into.
It does two things, moves the VZW lib files over for GPS and it also should fix the volume levels in some apps that are low...

If it Doesn't I Flash Beans then use root uninstaller to back up the maps apk and stick it on your EXTSDCARD and go to recovery and wipe everything flash International Rom and the go to ES File Explorer and hit the menu button and go to tools/root explorer/Mount R/W and mount all RW NOT RO then go into the ES Explorer and go to Local and EXTSDCARD Then restore the Gmaps and it will ask to overwrite and say yes to all. Then reboot the Phone. When the Note II reboots then go to the Google Store and pick up GPS test its free and you can reset the AGPS and Update the AGPS Signals GO out side and get your Signal. If this doesn't work Try to Flash the Scotts GPS test Patch and should help. FYI I have had issues with the Global Mode popping up a lot and I went into the settings/more settings/Mobile Networks/Network Mode and change to LTE/CDMA and then if you get Updating Sim Card info a lot at the bottom of the Screen Set it back to Global and should fix but you will still get the Switch to Global mode Message More I am still stuck how to fix that issue.

This did not work on JediX14... Still no gps signal, I've tried all the workarounds
I can confirm this didn't work on Sungsonic rom. I wiped everything, flashed rom, kernel, modem, vzw patch, gps fix no service.

Jedi ROMS and GPS
I have flashed several Jedi ROMS over the last two years and I have always gone back to stock for the sole purpose of GPS. I have tried all the fixes and none of them have ever resolved the problem for me. I like many others LOVE the Jedi ROMS but require GPS to function as well as it does on stock ROM. When a GPS fix that is solid comes around, I will be right back on Jedi. I would love it if someone could find and honest clean resolution for this issue.

I feel you man. Definitely feel the same way. I have heard of several Verizon Jedi users getting there lock, but not me. I have tried everything I know to try at least 5 times each (literally). I am in the same boat as you, gotta have my GPS working. I am gonna keep trying with each new update though.
