Hi everyone
Im trying to install a Rom on My Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 using odin v.307.
I ran Odin in windows 8 , then When I reboot my phone with the 3 keys combinations, I get the 'Downloading, Do not turno off target'' sign
Finally I connected my phone in the usb port. Odin shows this: <ID:0/004> Added!!
But it does not seem to recognize propertly the phone.
I have tried rebooting the PC several times, triying different usb ports.
What Can i do to make this work?
Thanks for you help

did you used the Samsung official USB cable that came in the box ?
Install Samsung Kies to get the necessary drivers. After that, before starting Odin, kill all Kies processes in Task Manager!
Also, I think Odin is not fully compatible with Win 8.

Hi guys,
Yesterday I tried to install CF-Root via Odin. The process wouldn't work as I got stuck on:<ID:0/009> Added!!
<ID:0/009> Odin v.3 engine (ID:9)..
<ID:0/009> File analysis..
<ID:0/009> SetupConnection..
So I tried changing USB ports and re-installing drivers.
Since then my PC (win7 64bit) does nothing when I connect my phone, I tried KIES connection troubleshooter and it made no difference. I tried uninstalling drivers and KIES several times now. Still, neither KIES nor my PC can see phone.
The only thing that happens when I connect my S2 is short bleep on my phone and message saying MTP initialisation and MTP connected.
Any help please?
Different USB cables, then different PC given you've already tried different USB ports & uninstalling/reinstalling Kies/drivers.
One little thought just popped into my head tho before you do that, when you've got Odin fired up & the phone connected via USB, have you checked task manager or similar & made doubly sure Kies or any of its associated processes aren't running ? Odin needs the drivers to work obviously, but doesn't like it/normally won't work if Kies/its processes are running at the same time.
If you've already done all of the above (minus trying it on another PC/different version of Windoze), does the phone boot normally i.e do you still have stock firmware installed/working on the phone after the flash you tried barfed ?
I don't think it's the cable or phone as it worked before I re-installed the drivers and KIES. Can't do anything in ODIN since my PC is not detecting my phone at all.
I still have stock rom etc because I never actually got to the point of flashing.
Have tried several ports now and still, nothing happens on my PC when I connect the phone:/

No it doesn't. But it used to do before I started mucking about with my drivers and reinstalling them.
Phone seems to be connecting just fine, I get the USB icon in the upper left corner and notification saying MTP connected. Any ideas?
Thanks
Ok... so it looks like PC can finally see my S2 again.
Unfortunately, I am still stuck on:
<ID:0/010> Added!!
<ID:0/010> Odin v.3 engine (ID:10)..
<ID:0/010> File analysis..
<ID:0/010> SetupConnection..
... when trying to flash CF-Root via Odin.
Does anyone have any ideas please? I'm running out of options here.
Thanks
Usual story is user not using Samsung cable not using mainboard USB port not flashing correct file not following the instructions .
Total removal of Kies and all registry settings followed by clean install .
Thats it not much else in the fix my USB list apart from dirty USB .

If your pc see's your phone it's defo something you have or have not done!!
Thats why I said forget kies and odin and asked if pc sees it
Are you plugged directly into a USB port on the computer, and not a hub, or something with a USB pass-through, like a keyboard?
Someone else was having issues, and turned out they were plugged through their keyboard pass-through. Once they plugged directly into the computer, they were fine.
I'm plugged in directly to motherboard ports and using Garmin satnav cable.
I tried using original samsung cable but nothing happens when I connect my phone with it. In other words PC doesn't see the phone when connected via samsung cable.
Any ideas?

So... shows connected and partially works with Garmin satnav cable. Doesn't show connected at all with Samsung cable.
Sounds like issues with both cables. More severe with the Samsung cable.
Try another cable altogether.

Lol, what has battery go to do with the USB issue of OP over here
@OP , try running 'Odin' as administrator and see, if the same problem persists then try Cleaning the 'Micro usb port' of the phone and see

Galaxy S3 not being recognized in odin in download mode
Could someone please assist.
My rooted Galaxy S3 phone (FW v4.1.2) is stuck at the Samsung startup screen after installing a font app from the app store
To resolve I have tried:
1. The recovery screen - doing a factory reset and reboot
2.. Reflash through ODIN.
I can get get the phone into download mode but ODIN will not recognize the phone in Download mode (Funny that phone is recognised by Odin at the stuck Samsung boot screen)
- I have unistalled and reinstalled KIES and USB drivers
- I am using the stock USB cable
- Tried different USB ports on computer
- Tried on different computers
The problem may be Windows driver related. Because phone gets stuck at the Samsung startup screen, all processes of driver installation do not conclude successful. "MTP USB Device" shows error in Windows Device manager, USB composite deivce.
Uninstalled and reinstalled these a couple of times without success.
Please assist
Issues with usb on s3
Actually fixed my own Question....
My phone was in download mode and was not being recognized by my computer my windows 7 computer. I pressed the usb icon, where a box popped up saying that there was an unknown device. You could find this in device manager.
I then went to device manager to update the driver instead of pointing the device directly to the driver when i clicked browse my computer for software then it shows a location and option to let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer then a box pops up showing model above that there is a little check box uncheck that two boxes will appear with manufacturer and model
Scroll samsung electronics and model samsung mobile composite device that is what you want to update the driver to...
I pulled the battery then re-entered download mode and windows to over installing the rest now it works fine. I would attach images but it will not let me for some reason. if anyone can help with that I will do it later.
THIS COULD POSSIBLY help with devices not being found on computers in bootloader or just on rom loaded and running..

Maybe solved it
Hey guys, i know it's a bit late now, but i had exactly the same problem with my gt-i9300 (got stuck on samsung splash screen and odin didn't recognize it in download mode) and just realised that everytime, i connected my phone to my PC in download mode, a message would appear that "Gadget Device" (or something like that) was connected. Then i searched in my device manager for the name of it (i found it under USB-Devices) and uninstalled the driver of it. As i connected it again with odin started it would install the driver automatically and *swoosh* odin recognized it.
A year and some later after the last post and I seem to be having this problem as well... I believe it was due to a bad flash at very low battery level which ended up in encryption failure ya da da, factory reset, clear/format everything and flash custom rom from SD because any other connection would not work.... then managed to get windows (many flavors inc. 7, 8 and 10) to connect as MTP or in USB debugging mode but Odin mode (download) just won't do anything... i put the phone in DL mode, nothing happens, no windows connection sounds, no changes in devices manager, even when searching for new hardware. I'd be very interested to know if anyone has had anything like that. I'd really like to flash stock to go back to a custom rom, flash twrp to replace cwm but all seems to no avail if i can't get a connection while in DL mode.
tried to install adb fastboot but also nada since no connection is being made.... might be something with DL mode gone awry with the bad flash... long story but OTA update from current ROM decided on its own to push update even though battery was at 5% and no user interaction ever happened...
we'll see what happens...

Hi guys,
First of all sorry for bad english.
I turned my dives of because it was stuck when deinstalling an app.
Now, when i boot it, the boot animation comes, then the samsung logo, then the boot animation and so on.
My device is rooted. I had a backup with cwm but when i restore it it says:
Checking MD5 sums...
Restoring system...
Restoring data...
Error mounting /data!
Skipping format...
Can't mount /data!
But this backup worked before...
I tried to flash a new firmware with odin but odin won't recognize my device in download/odin mode.
What can i do? I searched for 5 hours now...
Thx for answers
Odin must recognize your device if you are in download mode.Just wait a moment and he will.If not try to change the usb port.
When you see the com in yellow tick repartition select you pda and flash
Even i had the same problem there r 3 things u can change
1:change your connecting cable
2:reinstall samsung drivers and then try again
3:change ports
Even after u flash stock firmware it does bootloop then do a factory reset from stock recovery
This should work

did you try to do a factory to do a factory reset from stock recovery
How it worked
Thank for your help guys, i figured that maybe doing this in a virtual machine was not a good idea...
But thats the recipe:
1. Try to AWAYS use the drivers that automatically install when you plug in your phone, because the samsung drivers I downloaded didn't work
for me.
2. NEVER install new drivers on top of the old ones; always deinstall the old ones first.
3. Try again and again and again! Don't stop after the first five times trying.

Hey Guys,

After clicking start in Odin there an error with the following text:
<ID:0/005> Can't open the serial(COM) port.
I started my S2 in download mode and tried to enable USB-Debugging. Both together didnt work. I also used the PDA section in Odin.
Does anybody of you has an idea what I've to change in ordner for it to work?
Thanks

Do you have Samsung Kies installed?
If yes:
1. Open Kies, go to Tools -> Preferences and uncheck "Run Samsung Kies automatically when a device is connected".
2. Close Kies and any running processes starting from "Kies".
3. Reboot your phone and try again.
Since it may also be a driver problem, you can try using another USB port and/or reinstall the USB drivers.
Sounds like you dont have the USB drivers installed.
Install latest Kies to install drivers. reboot, Then load up ODIN again.
It worked for some reason after reinstalling Kies and keep it closed while rooting.
Thank you very much for your help!
uncheck "Run Samsung Kies automatically when a device is connected" and after it reebot your phone
I got a new phone recently and i tried to flash TWRP on it. When i tried to flash it using odin, odin just hanged on setupconnection and after some time it failed. I looked everywhere and so far I tried: Other versions of odin, other usb ports on pc, different cables and 2 pcs, installing both kies and smart switch. The phone is properly set in download mode and odin detects it. Bootloader is unlocked. I just wondered if anyone had the similar problem and perhaps has found an answer?

Make sure usb debugging is on in developer options. Use odin v 3.10.6. The only thing to cause setup connection error is usb ports or cable so changing them should fix it
Most important: Remember to uninstall samsung kies and kies2 before connecting phone to usb. Kies messes up odin. And it is better to use odin 3.10.7 and newer. Older ones causes problems.
