I got a new phone recently and i tried to flash TWRP on it. When i tried to flash it using odin, odin just hanged on setupconnection and after some time it failed. I looked everywhere and so far I tried: Other versions of odin, other usb ports on pc, different cables and 2 pcs, installing both kies and smart switch. The phone is properly set in download mode and odin detects it. Bootloader is unlocked. I just wondered if anyone had the similar problem and perhaps has found an answer?

Make sure usb debugging is on in developer options. Use odin v 3.10.6. The only thing to cause setup connection error is usb ports or cable so changing them should fix it
Most important: Remember to uninstall samsung kies and kies2 before connecting phone to usb. Kies messes up odin. And it is better to use odin 3.10.7 and newer. Older ones causes problems.

Hello,
When I turn on my phone, I get an error: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
I thought that I use ODIN 1.85 to flash a new ROM, but when I connect my phone to computer "USB device not recognized" shows up, and ODIN does not detect my phone.
I tried installed Kies with drivers, closed kies and nothing. Uninstalled Kies and istalled samsung drivers only - nothing. Tried 3 different computers with Win XP to Win 8 - nothing. Tried 3 different cables, including samsung original - Odin still not detecting.
and you do pass through dowload mode to flash with odin?
did you try factory reset? and then check again if it's recognized by PC ?

Can't get into recovery mode to do factory reset. Same error as described before.
Can get into download mode, but odin won't recognize,
you should try a JIG
Open Windows Task Manager and check for two Kies-related processes. I don't remember their full names, but they both have Kies in their names. Then download a different ROM with ODIN 3.04 and flash as usual. Also connect the phone to a USB port at the back of the PC (the ones that are straight on the motherboard) and don't use the additional ports as they also cause issues sometimes.
The same issue happened to me twice and both times that's how I solved it.

Don't have any kies related processes. I have used 3 different computers (2 laptops, 1 pc) and still nothing. Have to take phone to repair shop, I think.
Because there is no forum for the SGH-T589R (Samsung gravity Q). I have to post here.
I've been trying to flash back to stock rom ever since I rooted my phone. I've used Odin 1.85 and Odin multi downloader but they all get stuck! Odin 1.85 gets stuck at setup connection...I've searched everywhere they all say, try a different computer, try a different usb port, try a different cord, try re-installing the drivers, close kies, run as administrator, uncheck protect ops, I've even tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36293397 . The only progress I've ever gotten is Odin multidownloader getting stuck on amss download then boot.img download. Is my phone ruined or is there still a chance to fix it? I am in download mode as I can't get into recovery mode and it says in yellow text "Downloading..."

I don't know if you have found a solution or not, but because I have the same phone I'm suggesting you try Odin 4.40
I was looking for stock rom for SGH-T589W but unfortunately I couldn't!
Suddenly one day my S6 edge G925I got stuck on "An error has occured while updating the device software. Use Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC Software"
So i tried using the Emergency Recovery function, which threw an error after downloading "Could not recognise update mode". I cannot enter recovery mode. Only Downloading mode.
I tried Flashing it with the stock firmware but it said "There is no PIT partition".
So i gave it the correct PIT file but it gets stuck at "Get PIT for mapping".
Tried Odin 3.07 and 3.12. Used it in XP Compatible mode too and ran as admin.
Tried 3 different usb cables now.
Tried flashing a custom recovery mode(twrp) but that failed giving the same error.
Please help

Try changing USB port or use the rear ports, or take battery out and in and reboot to download mode, it's a common issue, happens a lot, if you're using a USB hub, then don't, and plug the phone directly to the USB port.

So I'm using a laptop and tried all the USB ports. As the S6 edge battery is non removable i cannot do that. Also the phone doesnt charge (no kernel?), only when the phone is connected the emergency page shows up.
HI guys,
I have a problem with my I9300. I tried flash new one TWRP over TWRP Flash image. Something goes wrong and now I am not able to flash anything. Odin and Kies cannot see my phone (unspecified device). I am not able to get into recovery. I am able only to get into download mode and odin mode. Can someone help me with it ?
If Odin can not see the phone, try different usb cables and ports.
I tried a lot of cables (Samsung Original), but no one works. PC detect my phone like unspecified device. I also installed all samsung USB drivers. USB connector has been cleaned. Still nothing works :/
IT works I flashed TWRP via ODIN. Thanks a lot.

Odin can be finicky. If you're using a pc use the USB ports on the back of the computer, not the front. Try different USB cables. Those are the two typical areas that cause issues with Odin.
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Thanks for the tips, i tried on 2 laptops, 6 USB total and always with the original USB charging cable.. still nothing on ODIN its driving me nuts
