[Q] Anyone want to sell 920 box? - Nokia Lumia 920

I brought my 920 from my brother in law who was given it at a promo so it only came in a cotton bag! I have buyers remorse and am going to stick with my trusty Titan and sell my 920.
Is there a happy owner out there who would like to sell their good condition UK 920 box and quick start guide? If so PM me.

You mean sell you a box with an imei and s/n that represents a different phone and could potentially disable that phone once they scan it???
Good luck

Ah someone who first thinks about ripping off someone's iemi rather than just selling a box! An imei and serial number can of course be scratched off the sticker or be covered with a black marker before the box is sold.
I only want the packaging I have a fully working 920 with it's own imei, I don't want to rip anyone off!:silly:

I bought 2 920's, returned 1. When returning it, they opened the box to check if the phone was there. All the return process was done from the box.
Of course, that was from AT&T...Maybe it works differently somewhere else.

Broke The LCD Screen Already

Something unfortunate happened this morning and my phone just slipped from the pocket of my jacket to the street and a car has passed over it two seconds after that just in front of my eyes.
I felt like the car passed over me instead! Luckily though, the phone was upside down and was not brutally damaged; only some bruises on the screen and the housing.
Although the LCD and the phone still works 80%, of course it is not usable under normal conditions. It misses a lot of touches. I am attaching two pictures of the phone that I took by my old TYTN II.
Now therefore I need housing and LCD screen. Although I have seen some housings on ebay; I could not find any screen.
Any ideas of whereabout?
Regards,
For a new screen, you have to get it repaired. You can't do it yourself...
Unless you are really good with eletronics. But the screens aren't available on the market.
I live in Turkey and bought the device from UK via a friend, who brought it here. I will be very hard again to send it UK and give it to customer service and get back to Turkey. I am not talking about shipping but very much worried about customs behavior in Turkey. It's a high possibility that they will treat the device as a "new" after repair and ask for very high custom tax.
Anyway, I have replaced housing and lcd screen before of my TYTN II with various parts I have bought from Ebay. Of course I do not do it myself; instead I give the device to a local mobile phone repair shop in Ankara; the people there are highly experienced in changing parts of all kinds of mobile phones; so it won't be a big problem for me if I can get a new screen somehow
Thanks for advice though.
Hi all,
After a long e-mail traffic via many ebay sellers I think I found what I am looking for; a seller has given me this address: http://www.shope2.com/Product.php?product_id=51490
Can anyone just check that if this is the correct part?
Regards.
I think I weep'd a little when I seen your pics. Sorry to see that happen to you. I think I would have cried like a baby if that were to happen to my Touch Pro2.
Good luck with it. Hope everything works out for you.
I have no choice but to
cry.
thats the reason now i got insurance on my phone :
6 euros / month against break, thief, oxydation etc...
Good thing is, when the TP2 wont be sold anymore, i can just "break" mine , and get the new version (TP3 ? or TP2-like) at no cost
Its an investment, but on the long time, its the best choice with those very expensive phones.

that is almost as painful as getting hit in the groin..
Yes it has a valid warranty in UK; I did not want to void it and I have contacted customer support. They requested me to hand over the phone to "HTC Europe Co. Ltd. Communication House, Presley Way, Crownhill, Milton Keynes, MK80ES" and I gave it to a friend who lives in London; I'll see how much they will charge it for me; until then I am still using my old friend TYTN II
Regards,
OUCH! My heart feels sore for you my friend. Surely there must a registered HTC store in your country that you can get the screen replaced at?
I wouldn't want to try and replace it yourself or going to anyone who isn't a registered technician
You're phone actually survived getting run over by a car??
That's crazy!
I could imagine my Kaiser surviving that, but then you could knock someone out with that! I thought the TP2 wasn't any where near as well built a device.
Really sorry it's happened though, that sucks Hope you get it sorted for a reasonable price!

Unfortunately, i dont know about insurance in the US...
In France at least, most Telecom companies offer insurance as an option.
Well, lastweek i dropped my phone and the glass screen was broken, i have to spend 90USD for repair service.
i'm from Singapore
there are deep scratches on my screen (LCD is working) and i was quoted SGD$40+ for replacing the glass screen
USD$1 = SGD$1.44

How legit is my purchase scenario...

I'm buying a brand new, sealed Unlocked Droid Razr off a friend for $485.
He claims he has connections, but I won't be able to get a receipt.
I understand I won't be able to register for a warranty, which is fine by me...
But what are the chances that the phones are stolen, and might I get into trouble for purchasing it off him then?
P.S. He bought a Razr for himself last week as well.

I would steer clear of this one.. smells fishy.
and FWIW... yes, if you buy stolen property, you have technically 'received stolen property'.. which in some areas is considered a felony.
beyond registering for a warranty, you wouldn't be able to activate it if it's reported stolen.
Most likely, someone, made an insurance claim and never sent the 'bad one' back.. or claimed they never received the replacement.
Happens more frequently than you might imagine.
just my .02
Well the insurance claim would make sense, but remember that its brand new sealed in box... Not only that, but this isn't the ONLY device he has.
He could easily order more.

Can't I just do an IMEI searchup to check the validity of the phone?
That would require me to unbox it though no? :/

I don't know how it works where you are. For you to be even posting about it on here says that you have suspicions about the phone. Steer clear and buy legit.

You can call with the esn number and they can say if it is flagged or not. I thought all the numbers you need would be on the upc of the phone box unless that is missing.
He stuck in his old SIM card into his new phone, and it worked fine.
So I don't think it's locked.
that would not happen with a razr. the only thing the sim card slot is for is LTE so unless he is only in an ATT LTE area then that wouldnt work(unless you guys are not in the US). but yea, ask for the ESN and call and verify with VZW that it is not a stolen product. if it is clean then i would do it.
See if you can ask him to wait a few days. Even though it might not be flagged as stolen right now, it might in a few days. Depends on the person that sells it but it does look like a stolen device.
Me, I don't want the "hook up" on anything.
If I can't take it back to the store, I don't want it.
Are you willing to go to jail for a phone, well are you?
There are people out there who have friends in Verizon, AT&T, Vodafone or whatever carrier you choose. Those people sometimes get cheap stuff off of those friends.
My opinion is - you might want to check IMEI, but if it does not get flagged, just buy the phoen and sign a small buy/sell paper that will provide where you bought it from. When problems occur you will be safe.
Is this your friend? http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yj9yisLa4ao

LOL^ That's hilarious ;D
I don't think I'd ... go to jail even if I do buy a stolen phone...
I'd most definitely get that confiscated though :/
And I'm not from the US, I'm actually from Canada...
I think he's either buying and reselling from the internet, or knows somebody working at a mobile company here. (I hope so at least)
$499.99 on amazon.
Did he by chance get that phone when Verizon had their bogo sale a few weeks ago?

ATT Wireless Charger Promo

Ok so i got my Lumia 920 via Bestbuy Mobile but it's an ATT phone.
As far as i know i'm still supposed to get the free charging plate ( i know it's on back order atm)
But I have yet to get any confirmation as to if I'm getting a plate or not.... any ideas? I've been through customer support multiple times with limited success, they either don't speak English or don't have any clue about the promotion (its on ATT's 920 page in huge red letters -___-)
I had to called AT&T after I got my phone to place an order for the free charging plate, I never got any confirmation and 2 weeks later it just showed up.

You request it directly through Nokia, but you have to wait 2 weeks for your IMEI to show up in their system (so they can be sure you don't take the phone back).

Bestbuy didn't say anything, they thought i had to go through ATT. Im going to bug ATT again today and ask for a free one if i give them the info for the phone(i still have the box and all that). I don't want to buy a 40 dollar charger im supposed to get for free :|
i think people who ended up buying from best buy had to force them to match the ATT offer to get it, ATT won't honor it unless you buy it from them iirc.
ATT was so confused about their own offer when they launched the phone though that i ended up with 2 free plates instead of one.
go poor planning!

ATT is still confused about the wireless charger offer. I spent 50min on the phone 2 days ago and they claim they couldn't order the yellow at all, so I had to order the black charger. To my surprise, it shipped same day and I received it within 24hrs. What sucks is they won't let me cancel my other order for a red one as I'm tired of waiting. I doubt it will ship this year which im getting more annoyed by the day.

I just got my charger plate today. I ordered red, but they sent me a black one along with a note stating:
"Thank you for your purchase of the Nokia Lumia 920. Please find your FREE wireless charging plate enclosed. Regrettably, due to the popularity of the Lumia 920 and inventory constraints this Holiday season, we are unable to fulfill your choice of color for the charging plate. We wanted to ensure that you got to enjoy all the great benefits of wireless charging before the Holidays."
I ordered back almost 1 month ago too.
Got mine today it was black too, have a red phone no big deal though, just glad I got one for free

I got my Lumia 920 and was told to re-order the wireless charger for free 15 days after the day I purchased on November 15, 2012. I called the ATT customer service on Dec 17. They told me that the wireless charger is not free and it is sold at 49 dollars. I was confused and the customer service told me that my account indicated 49 dollars to be charged for this wireless charger. Therefore, I just told them to cancel this order and credit this amount back to my account.

Enabling HTC One Hidden Menu...

Hi there...
Has anyone had luck enabling the hidden menu for the One? I have been through several of the old ways of doing this on other phones with no luck. Please advise if you've found a way to do so. I just got a replacement phone and am trying to see if its a refurb or if I actually got a new replacement like I was told. Thanks
Option 1 - Dial ##RTN# - No luck
Option 2 - create a shortcut through custom launcher: Shortcut>Activities>com.android.hiddenmenus - There doestn seem to be a com.android.hiddenmenu file here.
Thoughts??
Those menus were probably removed due to the carrier's request.
That said, you can tell when it was manufactured by looking at the serial number, see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=642459
HTC does not reassign serial numbers if a phone is refurbished, so if it is pretty close to the date you received it it's probably a new unit. Plus I doubt this phone has been around long enough for there to be refurbished ones.

It was a refurb. Date was 4/13/13. I thought the same thing, but they are out there! I talked to TMo and they're sending me a new brand new one since I was within the 20 day window.
branshaw, how did you find out? Mine had a minor ding on the bezel but I didn't notice until I left the store and I just don't want to pay the restocking fee.
I checked the link but doesn't tell me anything. Something else, I don't have the box with me but I'm pretty sure the manufacturing date was 4/13/13 as well.
So, how did you find out it was a return?
Thanks!

I figured it out really based on the way I received it. I received it in a generic box that only included the phone in a clear sleeve. If it was new it would have been in retail packaging. If you received it in retail packaging then it's new, you just got one with some damage.

That's not exactly true - I got a replacement Sensation that came in that sort of packaging and was made in the same month I received it, so it could go either way. But if you get one in the original packaging then it's almost certainly new.

Mine matched as well TMobile Note 8 purchased direct from Samsung US.
Could be an error in the factory where they put the phone in a box for a different Note8. Does the IMEI sticker on the back of the phone match the one on the box or the one in system settings?

Sticker on phone matches box. Must be error. But it'll affect me badly if I need anything from Samsung. They'll think I'm being devious.
Has to be exchanged though there's nothing wrong with it. Pity. This unit giving me this battery life. 5hrs sot with 40% left. Not bad. All on 4g too. New one will give me worse battery life and pink screen lol

It's up to you if you want to keep it, most people throw away their box after getting the phone, so if the only problem is the box, you can just say you threw it away. It's your decision if you want to send your phone back because there was something wrong with a cardboard box. The only problem would be if you're still in the return period and ask for a refund or exchange. In those cases usually they ask for everything back.

As someone who always keeps the box, for potential future sales, i thought most people keep their boxes.
But regarding the return you're right, it's a headache, due to the device lottery. This one's ok. I'd ideally like written acknowledgement they sent me mismatch imei info so I can use that in any warranty claim. Or send me a box with the same imei as is in the software lol. Case closed.
None of the above will be done for be I'm sure lol. I really just want them to know, so I get no bs in the future.
What imei is on the Receipt? That is what matters

As long as your IMEI matches that of the one on your account with the actual device, That box won't matter.
I don't think most people throw away their boxes. It matters if the sticker on the box matches the phone, especially if you are buying from a third party.

Did you manage to get this resolved lawtq?
The same thing (same phone, same mismatch, direct from Samsung UK) has just happened to me. I've also flagged it to the store and am now awaiting their response. I'm assuming they are going to want me to return it but we'll see.
It's definitely a factory issue though. The box was properly sealed and it's pure luck that I thought to check the IMEI.

Ok so an email to Samsung 9 days ago proved pointless.
Just rang them, they've arranged uk mail courier to pick phone up tomorrow for exchange with tracking. I'll get exchange a few days later after they process the return (inconvenient). Can't I go into store and just exchange? No, as I purchased online. Grr

I raised the issue by phone on Friday but they then wanted to switch to emails for the subsequent responses. I've just sent off a request for an update and if I don't get one by tomorrow I'll call and get it resolved directly.
The need to send your device back before they'll supply a new one is an inconvenience I could do without though especially as this is a glorious phone. I can't imagine I'll manage to persuade them to do any different for me though.
Keep me updated on how you get on as well.
you guys should compare IMEIs, maybe you have each other's boxes

No point. Samsung still has to be the ones who fix this anyway and never goes to give out your imei. And the pickup didn't happen. Expected from UK mail tbh. They will never be dpd
After enquiring why the pickup didn't happen I was given some made up reason by the Samsung rep. UK mail say the phone was refused pickup. Unreal. I'm just returning, can't give these people my money. Lol
