[MOD]remove power save notification icon [rooted only] - HTC One X+

Hi
I'm not a developer, but a good observer and tester.
I found a clear and safe method (at least for me) to get ride of the annoying notification icon of power save even after booting.
I'm very sorry if this method was already founded (because i didn't do a deep search), so please guys you can tells me if this method exist already or not when you find it elsewhere.
OK, for this mod we need :
1. unlocked rooted hox+ (at least international, but i went some AT&T guys to test it for me) and i think it will wok for them also because this mod affect only the "com.htc.htcpowermanager".
2. Install "system tuner" from play store or any other apps that can modified the events in system apps (but i recommend the system tuner because it is free and very easy to modify the events).
3. Go to system apps tab and then htcpowermanager (power app) as shown in 1st photo.

Then go to details as below
Then go to the following event:
"powersaver.powersavernotificationreceiver" and unchecke it as below
Then reboot directly.
That it, after reboot you will find that there is no icon in the notification area for power saver.
Thank

Just did this on my AT&T hox+, was just a little different. Under system apps, it was just listed as "Power". Followed your other instructions, unticked the box, rebooted and indeed now that stupid power saver info is removed from the notification.
Many thanks!!

Confirmed. works perfectly on ATT one x +. Thanks

Hey thx for the instructions!
I've also made it with Titanium Backup.
Simply freeze the package "Power 1.0.2220222957.473386.472844".

This leaves the carrier label in the status bar on my Telus device. Of course I nodded the correct package as mentioned earlier in the thread.

I don't think this is the same solution because you freeze the power app completely (that's means you will loss the entire benefits of this amazing option in jelly bean, from reduce UI power supply to disabled the entire return vibration of the device).
But with my method, it will disabled only notification event without disabling the functionality of this amazing app
Thanks

its already mentioned in the description of the 1st post in red marker "alimentation is the French name of power" and you can also search for the same icon (green battery with white power supply sign on it) in the system app list
but you must sure it has the package name com.htc.htcpowermanager as in the 2nd screen-shot

"Power"

At first the power save mode thing being persistent bugged me. But to be honest I actually like using it now. Unless it's a rare occasion that I'm gaming or something, I dont really notice the difference when it's on. but my battery sure notices. it does a decent job of extending battery life without really hurting user experience that much. of course if you're very frequently attached to USB and constantly charging at work or something it's a non-issue and is probably annoying... but especially on weekends if I'm out running errands all day it comes in handy.
That being said, it's great that you found this. most of the time HTC Sense stuff is so interdependent on random elements from stuff here and there that you don't expect. so it's cool that this option to disable it exists.

These lockscreens are awesome, much more fun than widgetlocker. The only problem is they all need resizing to fit our screens.
I've been trying but without a script and my lack of knowledge its hard work. If you rename the. mtz to .zip then extract it and find lockscreen, rename that to lockscreen.zip and extract that you can edit manifest.xml and resize everything to fit our screens, Ive been dividing all the sizes by 50% to make everything fit on the screen and then trial n error to move everything to the right place. Does anybody know an easier way??

Arrrggghhh so close, this is frustrating !
This one is VA 3way minimal lockscreen, it has a white animated line that should move down between the 2 slider icons when there in the right place and when pressed a phone and sms icon appears at either side which you drag the centre icon to, took me an hour and half to get that close.
Edit: a default one I started last night but forgot to resize the images.

Aaaaaaargh lol it reminds me of the frustrations I got with chronotopia. Just a little bug I found with unlocking..... aswell as the volume and home button method I found holding the back button kills the app and restores original lockscreen too. It's a cm7. Back button kill option I know but for me a lockscreen should only have 1 method to unlock and this app has 3 and for this reason " I'm out " lol
" once its gone,its GONE."
True and I give up too, its too much work for me. this apps still in early stages so fingers crossed it'll get better features and hopefully someone else who is better than me will port all the lockscreens.

I think it's great app other than the fact that you have to resize all of the themes lol. Does it matter if there is 3 ways to unlock? Just use one And you can turn the back button kills app thing off right?
Anyway next phone I'm getting needs to have MIUI
Didn't for one second say it wasn't a good app!!
Yes it matters to me that there are 3 ways to unlock it.
No I can't turn back button kill off due to the fact I use this function.

[APP] Honey Hide Widget V3.0!(hides system bar)

Hey guys I forgot who had requested a widget to show/hide the system bar In Honey Comb, but here it is! I had a couple people test it before I released it to the market. This is to be used by people who use the Hardware Buttons in HoneyComb. Enjoy
March 18, 2012
Version 3.0 has been released! It includes a smaller widget (1×1) that was requested by users as well as the ability to restore the status bar when the screen turns off. The latter feature allows the widget to be used by more devices that do not have hardware keys.
Along with version 3.0 I have also released a donate version. This version is exactly the same as the free version but costs one dollar for those who feel generous!
You can download it on the android market place by clicking Here for free and Here for donate
Feb 13, 2012
Version 2.0 brings along a new layout as well as more reliable code!

And just incase someone trys this without hardware buttons and opens an app while the bar is hidden the command you can run to get your bar back is:
Code:
am startservice -n com.android.systemui/.SystemUIService
If you feel like donating all money will be put towards my school loans

Thanks Victor, works very well and I really like the looks of the screen without the bar
Edit: can the icon be themed?
This is a lot better than honeybar which gets in the way. Thanks!
Unfortunately, htc scribe apps still don't like the removed bar. Good for watching video and reading pdfs though.
EDIT: I have a small request. Can you please make the buttons or hitboxes a little bigger? Sometimes it takes a frustratingly large amount of touches to register a show or hide.
Thank you. Great app.

Actually, in that line, I would simply suggest a one-cell toggle (on or off). It was a somewhat curious decision to make two buttons instead of an on/off toggle.

I like the fact that the widget is a toggle, and maybe this is a silly question, but why do you make it take two icon widths (2x1) rather than just a normal 1x1 icon?

Missing features in Xperia S (coming from SGS2)... suggested work-arounds?

Hey guys,
I recently had to switch from my SGS2 (much loved, but ultimately un-useable) to the Sony Xperia S.
This is my first Sony Android phone, and my third Android phone. I like to think that I am pretty well versed with the goings-on of the Android OS... but as can be expected - there is a little adjusting required when switching to a new device.
I am going to make a list of feature which I had grown pretty fond of during my time with the SGS2 - which I cannot seem to find in the Xperia S (I will also add general issues which hopefully you guys might have some solutions for). Hopefully you guys reading this will be able to advise and suggest solutions to these listed ailments, also feel free to add your own queries to this thread and I'll add them to the list.
1. No quick setting in notification bar pull-down (only link to system settings screen)
Solution 1 - Use 3rd party app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hb.settings&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLmhiLnNldHRpbmdzIl0.
2. No USB mass storage mode.
3. No task killer.
4. No outgoing call confirmation (option for pop-up dialoge box to confirm outgoing call)
5. Weather widget does not support current location (GPS).
I will update and edit this list as the post is replied to - and when we find more issues.
Please note: some of the missing features I'm listing might have been from 3rd party apps which I had installed on my SGS2 rather than feature of my SGS2... if this is the case - please let me know.
I look forward to everyones input and feedback.
Cheers.
Switch too this rom, and you have all your missed things.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604415
Use custom ROM it will fix everything.
Thanks for the replies guys.
I am a little hesitant to start bootloader unlocking/rooting/flashing and such.
There is so much info to take in regarding the process, I'm worried I might miss something or get the wrong information. There are plenty of tutorials - but its almost as if there are too many. One tutorial will be teaching something, and it will say "Before we begin... make sure you have read this [LINK]", and it all seems a bit much.
I guess you could say that I dont have the stomach for custom ROM flashing, I'm just overwhelmed with all the technical info.
Can you guys suggest a simpler tutorial or break-down the process to reduce the steepness of the learning curve?
Thanks for any help.
first i think also... but it isnt so hard
just go on step by step, read just for next step and do the things in the step and then go to the next step... then it isnt so much information and you don't forget something
and after you unlock the bootloader and flash the first Rom/kernel with working root, you know what the process was good for
1. For quick settings use app from market
2. There is no mass storage mode
3. Hold the home icon for task killer
4. No, but why do you need that?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll have a think about flashing a custom ROM, I'll let you know what I decide on.
1. What is the Quick Settings app?
2. OK
3. Holding home button brings up the recent app list - then you can remove apps from this list. Is this the same as the task killer? the SGS2 had both features.
4. I just thought it was a handy option.
Cheers.

Task killer isn't the best thing. You only need it when you're really out of memory. Just swiping away is enough.
Quick settings is or an app or a mod that does the same thing from power controls on GS2.

You can have toggles in notifications. You only need to unlock bootloader and use a custom kernel to flash SystemUI.apk from xperia GX through CWM.
To unlock your bootloader follow these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
then flash the advanced custom kernel, which is the simplest one, using these:

New Features - Android JDQ39 (4.2.2_r1) AOSP changelog

For those really longing to read through the endless change log of the latest update. It has been published here: http://www.funkyandroid.com/aosp-JOP40C-JDQ39.html
Thanks to Funky Android for the find!
Post any new features you find!
*I have found that the animations are a bit more pronounced & they seem to be smoother & generally more uniform.
*I have also found that in the Gallery app, there is a filmstrip mode that is found by pinching out of a picture. When in filmstrip mode, you can now use a swipe to delete the image & then immediately undo the deletion just like when you swipe to archive or delete email in Gmail.
*The play store now displays how much time is left until an app install is complete.

What do I know. Been using PA with Sony's album app myself.
Looks like you can long press bluetooth/wifi statusbar buttons to toggle them now, without having to actually jump into settings.
Is the wallpaper chooser different? More compact and quicker access... I actually haven't spent too much time on 4.2.1 - and it was mostly PA.
But, did we always have a libgoggles_clientvision.so? I think not.. Looks like they're setting up for it.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda app-developers app
EDIT: I just realized how dumb I sounded.. scratch the above comments - goggles, not project glass - and the wallpaper chooser seems no different.
My N10 seems... snappier, but this could be placebo. Memory usage is around 500MB currently, which is extremely lower than I'm used to (but then again, this is on a clean factory install).

My N10 seems... snappier, but this could be placebo. Memory usage is around 500MB currently, which is extremely lower than I'm used to (but then again, this is on a clean factory install).

So it appears that I have less RAM available (around 1.2GB usable, whereas before on 4.2.1 I had 1.6GB, on custom ROM anyway). Memory usage is still around 400-500MB idle for me though.
There seem to be quite a few security fixes too (including one where you cannot activate USB Debugging unless you're the primary user... nice... )
Best one I think is a fix due for a vulnerability (exploit !!!) of the Exynos discovered in those very XDA forums by alephzain on the S3.

What light bleed?
Looking at the changelog, and specifically the comits to vold, it looks like nothing has changed regarding mounting external storage writable, all the crappy workarounds just to get read/write on a USB HDD is what's bugging me most.
Any word on if it helps those with random freezing?

It was mentioned on a changelog somewhere that Google reserved an extra 380 some MB for the GPU, something along the lines of it being able to fragment userspace RAM before when the GPU needed extra memory.

No freezes whatsoever in 63 hours uptime on 4.2.2, browsing only with Chrome.
Android 4.2.2 seems more buttery to me. Memory usage is also lower, even without a full wipe.

[MOD] Long Press Back for Menu/Remove 3 dot on screen menu

This mod will remove the on screen 3 dot menu bar and restore the Option under Settings/Display, Gestures, and Buttons for Back Button Options, letting you choose Press for back, press and hold for menu (as shows in the screenshot). This mod will not enable Menu functionality in Prism (the sense launcher). This will work on Stock/Rooted, odexed or deodexed. Flash in recovery, wiping dalvik and cache afterwards is necessary. Contains a slightly modified Settings and build.prop with a line added to remove the 3 dot menu bar - built from ATT's 1.26.502.10
Also included is a mod to enable the back button settings, but leave the 3 dot menu bar. And one will go back to stock Settings. Note that this is based off of the ATT software like stated above. If you've flashed this to another build, and you want to go back to stock, you need your Settings.apk. If you're stock ROM was odexed, you also need Settings.odex. Put them both (with 7zip on a PC) in /system/app/ of the bk2stock zip and flash away. Not a bad idea to also use your stock build.prop if you're going back

Good to hear! Thanks for the report.
great job man, gonna try this immediately
What code did you change to enable back button as menu? I would like to try this on a different base.
It's in the display flags smali
To remove the 3 dot menu bar, it's just a build.prop edit (last line of the build.prop included in the package posted)

Seems like another reason to get off my ass and unlock bootloader and root already.kcco
Anyone run into a problem trying to disable the mod and get the 3 dot menu back? When I select always go back from gestures the 3 dot won't show up nor does the long press work.

Yea the 3 dot was permelanently removed by this mod.. no configuring it, so if you turn the back button menu setting off, you won't have any menu other than the in app menu that has been the android standard since Ics. I'll provide another .zip this afternoon that leaves the 3 dot menu but also enables the back button setting

Ran this script, another winner. Only had one small hiccup, the amazon kindle app was uninstalled. Nothing a quick trip to the play store couldn't fix...

Wait... with this mod? or the debloat script?
This mod shouldn't remove anything other than the 3 dot menu bar. The debloat script should remove the kindle app, since Amazon let ATT call it ATT Amazon Kindle, it became ATT Bloat
Works great on my Rogers One!
