Camera.apk - silent cam as option - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know how to remove the sound in my camera.apk to make it always silent. I also know that my rom does not make a sound if i silence the ringtone.
But is there a way to add the silent button in the camera options like it was in Galaxy S 1? Like deodexing and editing camera apk?
I am on stock 2.3.4.

Are you using the stock messaging app? What rom and phone are you using?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Yes, stock messaging app on SGS2 (as the forum states). I'm on stock KE2 and rooted via chainfire's rooting method then reflashed stock kernel.
Have you turned on always vibrate from within the messaging app? Go to all threads in the app, press menu, then settings, scroll down to notification settings, then press the option that says "Vibration" and make sure the option for always vibrate is selected.

I would but the setting isn't even there which is what surprised me most!
EDIT: I found an app to let me enable that vibration and it works now but it should be there as an option by default!!! WTF SAMSUNG!

[Q] No keyboard sound (clicks)

Isn't there supposed to have a click sound on the keyboard when you press a button?
I just flashed stock rom again, and on the setup I had the click sound, but as soon as I finished it was gone :-(

Did you check/uncheck the box in the settings ???
It could explain it... Or maybe is the sound off... There isn't any click sound when it's on discret mode.

Go into the camera app and hit the menu button. Swipe to the second page of settings and there is a shutter sound option where you can disable it.

I think in some countries you arent allowed to disable the shutter sound, I remember reading this somewhere..
I am able to disable the shutter sound on mine, so he should have the option as well.

He's not the one having trouble finding it
This option is not available in some countries. It is considered illegal.
From what provider did you get your phone from?
I have T-mobile NL, and I am able to disable the shutter sound with no problems, so it's not a problem with legality, unless you bought it outside of the NL.
Any known solutions for this problem? I have T-Mobile NL but I don't have the shutter off button. I've tried using Quick Settings or other camera apps but they all make the shutter sound.

Some people in this thread have suggested its a law thing, some countries down allow it which I remember reading somewhere too a while ago.
If you flash a ROM from a different region which does allow to disable the sound (find central europe generic works fine for me) that should give you the option
My Xperia S from Canada allows me to silence the shutter through the camera app as well stays silent when the phone is in vibrate.
I recall from my K790 days legal issues in certain countries with the shutter sound, Japan if I am not mistaken.
Thanks

[Q] Remove camera shutter sound

As the topic states, how do I remove the shutter sound when taking pictures? Putting the phone in silent mode does not help. I am on the latest ics retail.EU rooted. And also for video recording please
Thanks

im having the same problem and its annoyinggg...i tried using the rom toolbox build.prob editor to edit the line [ro.camera.sound.forced] from 1 to 0 hoping that it would work but nope..no luck!
Open up the camera app. Press the menu button (at the bottom of the phone). Press the gear on the menu that opens up. This is the camera settings menu. Scroll all the way down to the bottom. There is a setting there called "shutter tone". Just unchecked the box next to it and that disables the camera sound.

Try the following things:
-Download a different camera app (I don't use the stock one, mine is much faster, but I forgot the name)
-Check if all the sound levels are all the way down. Settings --> (device) sound --> volumes (Music, video games, and other media)
-Double check that you have the shutter tone unchecked under the settings in the camera app (the very last one)
Works on my Verizon Razr Maxx on ICS just fine, no sound.
So easy if you are rooted. Use root explorer or es go to /system/media/audio/ui and delete or rename camera_click.ogg

Guide for XT910 ICS uses
You have 2 be rooted.
1. Go to system/build.prop
2. Edit build.prop (I'm using Root Explorer)
3. Go to ro.camera.sound.forced=1
4. Replace 1 and put 0 ( ro.camera.sound.forced=0)
5. Save it
6. Reboot
7. Now go to camera settings, and switch of the sound

Xda needs to split the RAZR sections XT910/XT912
XT912 has no "ro.camera.sound.forced" in the build.prop
So on XT912 you can rename the camera_click.ogg to camera_click.ogg.bak and have no audio issues.
With the XT910 they force it in the build.prop.

I do apologise for any inconvenience. I didn't realise there is so many difference between them.

No worries, XDA really needs to make 2 separate sections for the RAZR. Someone can easily brick there phone by following instructions for another version.

There is no way to do it on stock ICS.
You can enable this function by editing build.prop file if you are xt910 user or fallow dave5777 if you owning 912 version

Slide it out, and you get a bar of controls. Go all the way to the left, and press the gear.
Scroll down to the bottom of the list, and uncheck the last one.

There is another, simplest way to edit build.prop
You can use free app called: build.prop Editor. I didn't test it yet, but my mate recommend me this app as the easiest one.
