[Q] Xperia x10A not in Flashtool - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have anAT&T Xperia X10A i am trying to flash to 3.0.1, so i can unlock for T-Mobile.I am using FlashTools 0.9.9.0 for Xperias (downloaded from androxyde website linked on the How To For n00bies thread) but it doesnt recognize the X10A. It defaults it to the X10 Mini Pro. I've installed all the driver files, same issue. The phone will go into 'Flash Mode', but it keeps saying its not recognized, even with the firmware (X10A 3.0.1 G.0.75 North America Generic ftf file) added to the folder C:/Flashtools/Firmwares. I do not have a working SIM card (the one that came with it when purchased says its 'faulty'). I know the ins and outs of computers but i've never rooted an android device before. iPhones are easy! , Even following the information in How To For n00bies i'm not having luck with the X10A being seen. I have not found anything about the X10A specifically, only all the other X10 xperias out there. Any help would be fantastic! Thanks gusy (and gals)

Try turning off your phone and booting it up while it plugged in and also I think the latest flashtools is giving some trouble so try the previous version.

I too have an x10a. It's been almost 2 years since I rooted mine. From what I remember you have to de-brand the phone from ATT. There was some weird procedure from what I can recall. Let me see if I can find some links...
Edit: recover the phone to original setup using SEUS, then root using flahtools....then flash that generic firmware. To use it on different carrier, you need to sim unlock the phone....might have to shell out some cash to do so.

[Q] restore to factory settings is it safe ?

hi i'm sending off my x10 for repair tomorrow (usb port) and i have xrecovery installed allong with busy box will restoring factory setting through the phone uninstall xrecovery. as i want to get rid off all traces. also does anyone knows how the warranty works on the x10 as i had it repaired by vodafone and im not sure if they voided the warranty, this time im sending it to se (flashed uk generic) i cant see any warranty sticker.
thanks
Factory reset just resets/cleans data... so busybox/superuser/xrecovery will not be removed!!!
If u can use flashtool then flash to a firmware of ur region and don't root after that...
sent from FreeX10_beta4+CM6 settings
Or you can use SEUS to do a repair and put your phone back to it's "factory state"
i cant use seus or flashtool as the usb port is broken i have root explorer installed anyway i can do it using that

ok good...
provide the following details:
1] which model of X10 do u have? X10 (came pre-installed with 1.6) or X10HD (came pre-installed with 2.1)?
2] X10i or X10a?
3] was ur phone operator-branded (Rogers/etc) or unlocked?
4] wht is the current baseband on ur phone?
me n rendeiro2005 are working on something specifically for such cases... (users who are having broken USB connectors and are unable to use flashtool)... our work is still in progress... but we should be completed soon...
This is the best news ever, it was branded x10i Vodafone UK it came with 1.6. im currently running UK generic current baseband 2.0.46 which I flashed ages ago to get the 2.1 update. I wont send it off tomorrow in case se get a bit miffed with all the stuff installed I wish you best of luck with your project it will be a god send for most users
so u have a X10 (not X10HD)...
since ur BB is 2.0.46 i am guessing u have the FW 2.0.A.0.504 ?
have u used the:
Generic version 2.1update1 build 2.0.A.0.504 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746 ?
Yes thats correct fw but I used the build prop method to debrand.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
em ok... if u can upload the original build.prop file i can try to include it in the project we are working on... so u will have a branded rom...
Which build prop as I only have the one im running UK debranded or I could change it using root explorer and upload that
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
upload the one which u want when u finally send the phone for repairs in ur region...
Right so Vodafone is the one I want tomorrow when I get access to my pc ill upload it
Thanks again

btw the project is not yet complete... so it might take some time for it to work... also there is no guarantee that it will work 100%... we are trying to make it as clean as possible based on whtever knowledge we have...
Yeah sound I understand its a work in progress.

[Q] Restoring back to original x10 rom.

Hi xda developers.
I am currently using FreeX10 rom in my X10i.
I was just wondering if it is possible to switch back to original Sony Ericsson 2.1 rom?
Yes it is possible. Use flash tool or SEUS or PC Companion.
Hi...you are wrong.....SEUS and PC Companion cant recognize the phone......the only solution is flash tool with the downloaded official rom.......

They can't? I haven't used them in a while so don't know. So they changed it to detect rooted phones?

Get your facts right. I had done it a lot of times on my phone, it always recognize my phone no matter what rom I use.

I can agree with both of you.
I am using wolf's tw7.1 and wolf's 4.5 on my phones.
My main phone i have flashed to stock using SEUE many time with no problem but my other phone it just says that it has current firmware.
On that phone i falshed to an older firmware hopping SEUE would detect it with no go.
So in the end one phone flashs perfect and then 2 min later go to do my other phonen nothing so i always have to use flashtools to fix it.

Ok, I had to get a warranty exchange for my x10a. I reflashed to the at&t Rom from here but its not the same. In wondering how can I pull everything from the new phoneand put it on the old phone before I send it back. Basically flashing the old phone to look like the new one so they won't change me for blowing the warranty.
Thanks in advanced

Find the At&t firmware and flash to stock. What is wrong with the old phone?
Sent from my lt15i using xda premium
Look in settings>about phone and you can see which firmware the new phone is on. Then you can flash that fw or post here if you cant find it.

On the old phone, the speaker stopped working meaning I would have to either put my phone on speaker or use a headset. Not really a big issue except that im military and alot of the time I can't wear a Bluetooth and its impractical to have it on speaker.
The new phone is
2.1-update 1-fw
2.1.65-bbq'd
2.6.29 kernal
2.1.A.0.492 build
One of the major things that I notice is the at&t bootscreen on the new one and the se bootscreen on the old
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
This link will get you to the 1.6 At&t file for your old phone. You will have to create a FTF and flash w/ flashtool. If you want to get to 2.1 afterwards on your old phone, just update with pc companion but you don't have to do that since you are returning it.

Did you try connecting to PC Companion or SEUS after you flashed back to the AT&T Rom. Or on the stock rom isn't there somewhere in settings you can check for OTA updates.

See the flashtool guide in the stickies at the top of the page. You're looking for how to convert sin files into ftf files.

X10 mini WTF FLASHTOOL.

Ok..I've done everything to unlock bootloader with Flashtool.I am at the part when it says ''Your phone will now be rebooted'' or something like that. When the damn phone reboots, Flashtool can't find it.I will post later what it says. Please, help!

Which version are you using? The newest version doesnt work with x10 mini(pro) so you have to use one of the older ones, it should say on the xda forum page which version to download.
I made that mistake once.

[Q] [Solved] Going back to stock rom, but how?

Hi.
My X10 mini is dying! So I figured I might as well go back to the place I bought the phone and complain. So... to make the phone look as ordinary as possible... How do I get the regular stock rom back? I have CWM recovery 5.0.2.7 installed. I tried just using sony pc companion, but... no go... it wanted me to download something from m.sonyericsson.com/backup using my phone, but I just get a message saying "Unsupported". I'm guessing the browsers header is rating me out...
Use seus to come back the stock rom

you need to flash a original u20 .ftf and then it will be recognized by PC Companion you will find one by googlin' or send me message ill send it
Stock u20 ftf is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125587
And don't forget to relock the bootloader if you have unlocked it. If they find an unlocked bootloader your warranty is void.
