I wanted to see if anyone had noticed the back cover being creaky when you lightly pressure it about one inch below the camera on left side? It squeaks pretty noticeably when you squeeze it. Had the phone since 21st but I just noticed after a long phone call. It seems solid elsewhere other than there. Or is it just me being paranoid, since I came from a Droid X and that thing was built like a tank? I really like the phone, so don't want to go exchange if this is expected with polycarbonate builds. Thanks.
Not here. Solid as a rock and no creaking.

Mine is creaking like a mother on the bottom left corner. I just noticed it today! Ugh I hate to exchange for something like this but its so annoying.
One of the first things I did when I got it was press on it all over. Bummer if it creaks for you.

Well, I tried to exchange it today with no luck. At the store in my town the dude said they all do it. I said no way. I said bring out a new one and prove it. They couldn't replicate the creaking so the next excuse was that my phone was a corporate line and I wasn't authorized to change device id. I was like you're kidding me? And he try to sell a case so I could cover the noise. Not making this up!! I'll call our corporate rep on Monday and facilitate the exchange thru them. But it is stupid when you have a corporate store in town and they are utterly useless in costumer service.
When I press on my phone in the exact spot you mention it clicks. This is the first time it's happened. I figured it that if I press on it on a table it doesn't click, only if I hold it in my hand, so it has to do with the flex between my fingers. It sounds like it's the trim around the camera lens. I'm not worried.

Nope and I am sure others haven't as well that squeak. My first DNA did not, but I got the red employee edition and for the first two days it was fine then squeaked like it was 100 years old. HTC is known for this, there was a big thread on the HTC Incredible on androidforums that talked about the squeaky back, my wife's One X squeaked as well. Also there is a thread on the GS3 about the same problem, it happens with a lot of electronics even if they are taken good care of.
It is really just like any other device, some will have a flawless device others will have some problems. I baby my phone more than most others and unfortunately this time I was one with a squeaky back.

I learned that, then another store in town restored my faith. Long story short I had to return the first exchanged phone due to dust specs in between the glass and lcd. I've never seen something like it so I took to a store in town and they exchanged for another with no apparent defects. Got lucky on this one as it is perfect so far. Needless to say, I like the phone and I'm happy that the store made it right, but I'm disappointed with quality of HTC. To have to go thru three phones is annoying and time consuming. Doubt will get another phone from them in future.
The manager at store was fantastically helpful, and basically said that HTC had this issue with his previous phone. No matter what he did the cover would make noise. I've never opened the DNA but is seems to me that they are not setting the phones correctly on "frame" because even the second one had creaking on the lower right corner. So for the other posters, I do not know of any way of fixing or if it can be fixed at all. I know that it was annoying every time I picked up phone. As with anything else, there are disadvantages of being first adapters
nice nice..yeah a lot of people with nexus 7's had this same squeek problem too.

I know this has probably been posted a ton of times but has anyone actually & successfully exchange there "defected" Rezound with the "pink" buttons for a Rezound that actually had red buttons? This problem has been a nightmare for me, VZW thinks I'm crazy.
For a lot of people the "pinkish" capacitive buttons doesn't bother them, but for me it's a big issue. I'm paying a lot of money for this phone and also agreeing to another 2 year contract, I want my phone to be perfect. My Rezound is perfect besides the bright pink buttons, I just feel like I was sold an unfinished/rushed device. I can post pictures of my phone if needed, I wouldn't care if they where a little pink but there not even red at all which is hilarious. I already returned my Nexus back for the Rezound thinking that I wasn't going to have any problems with this phone. I'm not trying to be picky or fuss over something small but If this is going to be my phone for the next 2 years why not make sure it's the right one?
I went into the VZW corp store today and they pretty much said "that's how the phone looks" and that "everyone views "red" differently". Of course the model they had on displayed looked pink so trying to convince them was pretty hard and not like they would believe me or care anyways. I said well couldn't you just open a few Rezounds in the back and see if you have the same issue with those. She tried telling me that you have to activate the phone to get the lights to turn on, LOL. They where extremely rude and just not willing to help. She told me that an associate had a Rezound that works in the back and of course that phone was "perfect" too but she wouldn't bring it out, I have no clue if she even checked any other Rezounds back there? What can I do to get the Rezound I should have received in the first place. I was thinking about calling VZW today and talking to a CSR instead of going into a store? Can anyone who has maybe been through this explain to me how to go about this?
This is what I want (check the pics): http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Verizon-Galaxy-Nexus-vs-HTC-Rezound_id2938
I appreciate the help guys.
There is a thread where two memebers found a "do it yourself" solution. If you search the forums you should find it. 1st solution was he took out the old white led's and then soldered the red leds in. People have sent their devices to him to do so, and good results have been obtained. 2nd solution is to open it and get a red perm marker, or thin red paint and paint/mark over the leds. Both are confirmed to work and will give you "red" capacative keys.
The fact you quoted words you wanted to emphasize makes me realize you aren't good at reading. There is a DIY thread, go find it yourself.
What bothers you more?
The color of the buttons or the battery cover squeaking/creaking?
Just curious...

To be honest...
the haircut on your avatar guy's head.
Here's the thread to the DIY
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362330
to be honest what I noticed, was of the 5 rezounds I have had, the two with pink buttons had the least issues. Infact the last one was PERFECT, but the mobo fried...we figuired due to the idiot at BBYM who put the sim card in backwards? It still worked, for like 5 days, then wouldnt boot or detect the sim card. Another guy at BBYM opens it to pull the sim out, and goes, "oh it is in backwards..."
5th phone has pink button and no issues. First 3 phones had SUPER red buttons, and SO MANY dead pixels.
And, I'll just throw this out there, I already posted a thread about this, that you could have searched for, would have taken less time than typing your paragraph that I barely read due to knowing where it went, and saved a lot of people a lot of time reading it...
if the phone works perfectly and has no dead pixels, I say deal with it. Mine are not pink, but they are not red either. Somewhere in between. I could really care less.
Turn them off.

Both of them had buttons just like this, they are kind of a light red color but definitely not pink. I could care less also really.

I have red buttons and no issues with my phone, so it possible to have a phone with red lights and no other issues. That being said, the color of the lights really should not be that big of an issue. If your phone is flawless other then the color of the lights I would not take the chance of having a phone with issues just for red lights.

My phone has pinkish LEDs and It's the best phone I have ever had... Unless you are allergic to Pink LEDs... I wouldn't chance it.. I guess since I didn't pay for my Rezound it doesn't bother me
I payed $399 for my phone and a new 2 year contract, damn right I'm going to be picky. My first Rezound had bright pink buttons, you didn't even have to compare it, it was that bad. After going to a few stores I found a demo unit that had "red" buttons and I got my new Rezound yesterday. The difference is like night and day and if you where in my shoes it would have def bothered you. Why settle for a phone that is clearly not finished correctly? Almost rushed out? The Verizon reps thought I was crazy and sat there for an hour trying to "fix" it like I didn't know they where just bullshitting me the whole time, LOL. After about 45 minutes they just gave up and brought a new one out. Lucky me it was a "good" one, I would have made them go through everyone until I got the right one.
Funny thing is that they had 2 demos in the store. The one in the front that all the customers first see had pink buttons. There was 2nd one in the back, kind of walked right by it a few times, the buttons where red as blood. Went over to the CSR and said "booyaaah"!. I new I wasn't losing my mind. I'm satisfied now. Oh and they also took back my rooted Rezound for anyone worrying about them finding out. These reps are so clueless, it was sad to say but I knew more about there phones then them. I don't know what the qualifications are to be a Verizon CSR but they don't know there product. They didnt even know how to get the buttons to light up on the phone, I had to tell them, it was hilarious!
In all the years and all the different Verizon reps I've talked to in the stores I can only remember one who was as excited or more excited about new phones than I was. I do have a guy now that is awesome. He doesn't know too much but most importantly he doesn't act like he knows it all. Up front and trustworthy. I'll take that in a sales guy all day long. He's gotten me my last two phones and he gets all my referrals.
KORM via the beast known as the Rezound.
Minor cosmetic issues, it's not a big deal. This isn't a car, no need to be super picky. If you find an issue with it, you can always fix it.

So, you are mad because you overpaid for the phone???
What is your time worth? Seems like a lot of time wasted over something so trivial.
having owned an eris, inc1, inc2, rezound, inc4, and gnex recently.
does anyone also get weired out when u see the lights on the phone, cos when they were off on the inc2, they were off cos they were leds.
I have to say I really like this phone.
It's built exactly like the Rezound - the fact that you don't have to take out the battery to get to the sd card on this phone like u did in the Rezound (sounds like wouldn't be an issue, but when trying to get from bootloader to recovery, this really helps lol)
anyway, the gnex I had for about a month, it was fun, mainly because I only use HTC phone do to my extreme liking of HTC Sense.
it was just too large, when I traded it for the rezound the slimmness of the rezound felt like heaven.
the rezound though is and will forever be plauged with a horrendous community (for whatever reason, idk but to me it was worth going back to my inc2 than to stay in that crap of a community)
sorry for the rant
anyway, I think the build quality is OK on the inc4g/rezound
i think the battery back is not attached as well as it should/could be
if any of you are coming from the inc2 that was very hard to take it off.
don't get me wrong the inc4g is a nice build, but IMO the inc2 was better.
has anyone have the loose battery door like myself? drives me nuts, I had it on the rezound and actualy boght another battery door which did help, i think the more u pull it on and off the looser it gets, so i might cal verizon and ask for a new one sent out.
or maybe some paper under the door on top battery, that worked great on rez until i got a new door lol.
My door is not loose at all... Make sure are the clips are set... If it is than I would suggest going to a Verizon store and getting another unit... Not just another battery cover cuz the problem can be with units clips.. if u don't wanna deal with all that... You can always buy your self a case and call it a day lol

thanks guys, your input def means a lot.
thought I may have been too OCD haha.
I had this prob. when I had the Rezound (which I hated, was a brick) but this phone is literally built identically to the Rezound but our phone has the SD slot like the inc2, and the rez has is under the battery(which sucked when havig a PG..zip) on ur sd card and trying to get into recovery haha. oh man)
I eventually put paper behind the back door, but decided one day to take them out and it just felt better to me so i kept it.
I also bought a new back door lol.
it actually did help. I think the more you pull it off and on obv. the more it wears on it.

i tried calling making up some **** trying to get a new one sent and the only way was to charge cc full retail until they got this one back, but wasn't worth all thta hassle for what could just be me being OCD.
but once that 14 days is gone they will send u a refurb before u can say hello.
it's funny to me sometimes how easily it is to get a refurb and the reasons ppl do.
I read once some sent back his inc1 saying the speaker blew (it hadn't), but the screen had a scratch out of no where, so he got a refurb cos the scratch.
I think the refurbs are a 50/50, they can either be a perfect, a phone someone used for a day and traded in, and I've read ppl getting refurbs that still contain custom recoveries.. whether this is true who knows but I have gotten pretty bad refurbs to the point i had to call to send another because the one i got sucked.
inc2 was a great phone but had some weird flaws to me, id get a refurb and one of the soft keys had a virbate u couldnt even feel and the other one was so hard and loud it was to the point they both were so bad i called for another one, which was luckily perfect on the soft keys but the friggin power buttun is pushed in. the one with the really low soft keys had a crap power button pushed in too, and the craqzy vibrate soft key refurb had a perfect power button, it was never ending.
I finally found a good one, gave to my bro, got a rezound, bought an inc2 on CL it was somehow perfect, must have jsut gotten a refurb lol it was so mint, and gave it to me for $100, which i sold yesterday for $120 haha.
sorry for the rant.
the inc4 is an amazing phone.
I'm very happy I chose to get the Galaxy Nexus for month and then sold it for the Rezound which I used for a few months that I then sold for the inc4 on contract.
def worth it.
only other phone id want is one S and thats not coming, so this phone = win.

I'm a freak about my phone being quiet in hand and solid as well. I look at it this way... this phone will be the most handled and used device I own for the next year at the very least, so I want it to be perfect. Any odd squishing or squeaking will eventually drive me insane.
I actually took my Inc4G back to Best Buy to see if I could get a replacement because of the battery door squish/squeak. Rather than go through the whole process of an exchange, the BB chick popped the battery door off of her own Inc4G to see if the fit was different. It was, but not in a good way. Hers was loose near the power button, but solid near the NFC contacts. So I just stayed with my own.
I think it's just something with this model... not a perfectly fitting door, might have something to do with the unconventional shape. Who knows. I might try the paper trick. I'll do anything to avoid putting a case on my phone as I hate the additional bulk. If paper doesn't work, I'll have to see about getting a replacement door. Other than that, this thing has been stellar. Just give me some AOSP/CM10 and I'm in heaven.
Its weird because I pulled several of them out of the box today to check the backs.... They all seemed solid... Maybe a bad batch?

did u just call and say ur back was messed up and ask for new one?
I went to a store and after talking to the manager who was honestly a condescending ****, he said he would have a new one shipped to me and refused to switch the phone out on the spot which he should have done. Normally my experiences with Verizon are really good I might add.
Today I went to best buy to buy this because they price matched letstalk to 199$. The woman I delt with sighed and ughed the whole time. Really rude. I ended up adding a line. Burning a sim. And moving the phone to my main line to get the upgrade.
Now I noticed this when I got home but im disappointed in build quality. I dont know if it was me snapping the back cover back on. But the top of my screen was loose. And the bottom leaked light from the leds because well..the glue holding the screen clearly was not that good. I immediately called back and was upset and went to exchange and now im all fine.
But now im paranoid about snapping back in my back cover. How cheaply made is this thing? Anyone run into hardware issues yet? Best buy has a 30 day exchange policy. Thank god.

im referring to the bottom of the phone, when the leds were lit up, you saw on the side of the phone light leakage, and on the top of the phone if you pushed down gently on any corner the screen was loose.
Sounds like a bad device. I haven't had any problems and since there aren't many threads about it, I'd say that other users aren't having problems either.

i just hope this isnt a common issue, i don't want it to happen to this one as well.
They wouldn't give me a price match to letstalk
I can assure you that this is NOT a normal issue with this phone... But, if you don't think something is right about it then you have every right to exchange! It's YOUR money and if your not happy then exchange away...

Samsung's thin battery covers are reasonably robust regarding battery removal and handling. Even improperly installed, the plastic has given and snapped into place. I owned a Charge and Galaxy Nexus with similar battery covers and I have never broken a tab.
I have (3) batteries for my Note 2 and swap every other day without worry of breaking anything. Samsung knows removable covers...

I had this issue, and got a new replacement without any hassle.
You just got a phone like that. Either get it replaced or get used to it. Sorry...
I wouldn't be happy either. Doubt Verizon will swap it for that. I'd try to tell them it gets hot or doesn't hold the charge or something. They swapped my husband's Rezound cause it was hot and dying in a matter of hour when plugged in and used as GPS in the car. Tell them you have a problem like that.

Same here.
Mine is solid as a rock.
This set is "the nuts"! (poker term).
Except for the fact that you can't even look at it without somehow touching the rocker volume and changing the setting.
I don't want a case on it so I just remember to handle it without actually touching it.
Or get Volume Locker app.
With case off, no creaks on mine. Then again, the instant I pulled it out of the box, I babied it in a screen protector and ballistic sg case. My Nexus 7 though, creaks like no other.
Sometimes phones can begin to show creaking after having a case on it that was too small for it. Have you recently had problems removing a case?
I have two DNA's and had to replace one due to this creaking sound. Verizon did not think it was a problem, but exchanged it anyway after I insisted the sound was bothering me.

I've never even heard of this...
My employee edition does this. It is quite weird and happens in the bottom left corner

Hey everyone,
Just got back from the Verizon store. I decided to have the rep there put on my screen protector, so that if they did a bad job they would redo it. They did a great job putting the protector on, so i left and put a case on the phone in my car.
When i got home i was taking a closer look at the device and noticed scratches on the bottom half of the laser. Now I cant stop looking at it, although my girlfriend cant even notice them.
What would you guys do? I know its just a scratch, but painful to walk out of a store and already see damage on a device that i didnt cause. That being said, i know it will look ridiculous trying to point the scratch out if i go back in the store.

Call and get a replacement for a known problem, like the auxilary port doesn't work in most cars, etc.
Mine had the same scratches straight out the box from Verizon.
Are you living with it, or trying to get a replacement? there is a chance that maybe he didnt do it and it was that way out of the box in the case as well. Anyone else see this? the bottom 1/4 of the laser has scratches on it

I'd bring it back sooner than later and bring it to their attention

As an update (and probably final post) to this thread - I had some friends over who have an eye for detail, not a single one of them could see the scratch. Based on this i decided to give it a day or two, and im no longer obsessing over it.
Somewhat of a life lesson, nothing stays perfect forever - no longer losing sleep over this
Thanks everyone!

I've been seeing a psychologist for my ocd for years and one of the biggest problems I have is "looking" for things wrong with phones I buy. His advice was to scratch whatever phone I buy in some way right away. He said eventually something like a drop could happen anyways. Nothing is perfect.

I do the same thing. Anything I buy or have has to be minty mint or it bothers me. Especially with phones I freak out when there's a scratch that for some reason only I can see.
Putting a little ding or scratch in helps stop obsessing. You should try it. Maybe it will help you also.
