Before we all jump on me, I promise I searched the forums. It's just that the terms are so vague it retrieves waaaay too many results.
I have the DNA, and I'm coming from the Bionic. I'm used to the 4G LTE symbol turning blue when I get a connection to the Google Servers on the Bionic. My DNA is syncd to all my Google Services, it has great 4G data speeds and a strong connection too. However, the symbol never has turned blue. Is this something the DNA just doesn't do? Are any of yours blue?
Nope, and they never turned blur on my thunderbolt either. Sounds like some moto thing.

Well, stock Android anyway. AOSP comes from stock Android. Stock Android does not come from AOSP.

So I can bring it back to the store and get a play or the thunderbolt. Should I?

If i may ask, Why not?
I would say no. The only thing pulling me into getting the thunderbolt is the unlocked bootloader. I miss flashing a new rom almost every night on my d1.
Im sure with the recently released sbf, there will be a nice choice of rims available. Its just taking some time

With as laggy and bogged down as the phone is OOTB, it's one of the top performers on raw power. Once the bootloader is unlocked, the phone with a custom rom is going to be a monster. Also, when it is unlocked, you'd be kicking yourself nightly due to the many roms that will no doubt be released.
I would get a charge!

Charge was one of the worst phones that I have used. Even w/ custom ROM etc... SLOWWWWWWWWWWW. But I loved the display, super amoled + = winning. To each their own though, one might like a phone , while another hates it.
I had the droid x2 the display was gorgeous volume supreme but I had three of them give me constant reboots it was annoying and I needed a functional phone.so I want with the thunder bolt done ways I regret it some ways I don't, but I'm happy with my decision

I know this is a little off topic, but can you surf data and be on a phone call at the same time with the DX2? The Charge can only do it on 4G and WiFi. Thanks.

Makes me miss my SGS. And the Super AMOLED. That black was extremely nice. But, so far I'm happy with my x2. This mutha has an LED flash on the back! WTF?! lol, something T-mobile has NEVER DONE, and will not do for whatever reason. Besides, their service sucks once you leave the big cities.
The thunderbolt can on 3G. All 4G devices should unless you make the settings CDMA only.

Nope, no 3g phone can do that at the present time.
First post here. I have talked and surfed at the same time on the droid x2. After reading the post that it cannot be done tried it again and it worked.
Nevermind just realized It was using WIFI for data. After turning WIFI off cannot talk and surf.

Actually, yes you can. Just verified for sure. While on the phone, hit home, you can then browse to your hearts content while ignoring the person you have on the phone. Any phone that can connect to a wireless network (not associated with cellular networks), you should be able to surf and talk regardless of the cellular provider.
Does the EVO 3d and sense 3.0 have the same issue as the evo 4g where it doesn't display 1x and it always displays 3g?
Sometimes I notice that I have 5 bars of signal and it displays 3g but my speeds are like 1x speed.

Yes. It shows only 3G icon. I think the problem is in AndroidPolicy.jar, but could be wrong. A custom ROM will fix this issue.
I was wondering why I've never seen 1x. Saw it for 2 years on my Pre in crappy signal areas.
Yeah I remember using a custom ROM on the EVO 4G like cyanogen but you would think HTC would fix this by now in their sense launcher.

Fix? Lol I think that is by design. Requested by Sprint. HTC devs were forced to comply. At least that is my thought on the topic.

Haha, that might be true, but wouldnt that be like...not sure how to put it into proper terms....lieing to our faces.....basically saying regardless where you go, you are always on 3g.
The only time that I've seen it say 1x or something other than 3g is when it was roaming.
If course its a blatent move by Sprint to trick us. The irony is that 3G in most areas isn't much faster than 1x at the moment.

Yes, it does and will show 1x but i only see it when i send a txt message.
Use a signal widget to display your true mode at the given time.
There is a mod for the EVO that you can edit the phones file and make it display 1x when you do have 1x. Not sure if it will work with the 3vo but I know it works for other HTC phones besides the EVO, might be worth a try. I'll probably try it tomorrow and let you know. Heres the link

I am getting my LTE later today and came across HTC Speak in the Pkmn Rom....they reference the ability to toggle a setting to be used to launch HTC Speak....
Since search is down, I did all the manual searching I could and have pieced together that HTC Speak is on the HTC One for ATT...and the Pkmn ROM is a port for LTE users.....
My question, is HTC Speak on the LTE via stock or custom ROM.....and if so, any users have any feedback on how well it works?
Thanks!
found the answer. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1724864 thanks for looking!
I think it works pretty well, but I'm never sure if I'm using htc speak or google voice.
The funny thing is , htc tweeted a picture that looked like it was hinting at an upcoming voice app. Turns out engadget and other sources misinterpreted what they meant. I flashed to pkmn day after reading that and saw htc speak. So I'm thoroughly confused :/

It's tied into the car app. Longpressing home in the car app was supposed to launch HTC Speak, their vehicular hands free service. It's been hacked out for roms with long press home for recent apps. AFAIK, it doesn't really do much.

Your device is running Android 4.0.3 (ICS) You can read about what version it's running from the settings>about menu. Android code names can be read from Google or Wikipedia. There are plenty of reasons the GS3 seems 'cooler' but only you can decide which you'd rather have, as they both run radically different UI overlays, even though they're running roughly the same version of Android (GS3: 4.0.4). Your EVO LTE is fully capable of running Jelly Bean officially. However, there are currently no stable daily driver worthy Jelly Bean custom ROMs available. As for an update to Jelly Bean? Only HTC and Sprint know the answers to that, but I assume like all the other EVOs, it will survive an update to at least one higher Android version, Jelly Bean being that version. When? I wouldn't expect one for quite a while. Your 4G icon was indeed LTE, because your phone does not have a WiMAX radio and the icon you saw is precisely what you should be seeing.

Yeah it's Ics 4.0.3 but themed a lot by sense and literally what your looking for spec wise I think it's exactly like the s3 spec wise IMHO, and I had the s3 returned it to get the EVO because the s3 physical build quality suck, I can't deal with the plastic and if you think the s 3 Is cool go and get that you have 14 days til you get charged a other activation fee or 30 days in most store its honestly your opinion both are great phones literally I view them as the same except one HTC one Samsung, HTC just caters to the features I like the camera is amazing and dedicated button also plus lcd is better on my eyes and I like the color better not so saturated.
And yes of course the phone can run jelly bean there's unofficial roms that work really good and as for a official update who knows lte hasn't been getting so much love I remember reading a article where sprint or HTC forgot which got bashed on for not advertising it and blaming as that's the reason it failed mainstream ( that's why you see a lot more EVO commercials now if you haven't noticed), but either way we will be getting a 100% working jelly bean one way or the other.
And for the icon I wouldn't know but common sense would say it's the because I don't remember this phone supporting 4G wimax
So dude its your decision ones really mainstream the other is like it's neglected twin both are the same one just got advertised well and at the same time doesn't change the hardware though so have fun contemplating.....
Fyi most of this is my humble opinion the rest is common sense read the forums posts and relax dude its a phone........ and heck I didn't even know there was a jelly bean port until after 2 weeks I dived into some old title post but frequently posted on.... Learned a lot that day Haha

I just wanted to note that my wife has the gsIII and I have the EvoLTE- and I can say the only difference I can tell between the two are..
EvoLTE:
better screen
better camera (pictures)
better UI
kickstand/physical camera button
GSIII
better external speaker
bigger screen ( you can really tell a difference when they are side by side )
2gigs of ram
But really both still have the small lag problems. With the EvoLTE having less lag and I don't see this problem being fixed without JB or a custom rom..
also battery life on both are about the same..

i thought...fromw hat i have read..that the gsIII only comes with 2gig ram if you get a world edition. but i must have read wrong somewhere. hmmmmm
Yea I was under the impression you have not read anything ..the s4 version (dual core) has the 2 gb of RAM...so that includes the US version...play with both and make a decision..the dev scene here has picked up a lot lately
Given that the GS3 is locked and you will have to lay down serious bank for the Developer Edition that's going to drop soon, the LTEVO has a serious edge there as well.
