Hi I have a big problem with the contacts sync of WP7.
I log-in with a seccundary account in WP7, obviously i don't know what i must do to change my account. When I know that I have to hardreset my phone to get in another account I want to backup my files or sync it with GMAIL or Hotmail.
I was trying to sync it with GMAIL but it doesn't work, the another option is to get a CSV file of the contacts but i don't know how to do it.

the story goes like that: i have sync my htc p3600 contacts using windows "active sync"...(i haven't outlook installed in my computer)..worked like a charm...
but now that i have the htc hero i can't sync it with "active sync"...i try installing "htc sync" but i don't know how the hell can i import the contacts from "active sync" !!!i also can't find where the contacts have been saved with the "active sync" in my computer!?!?
please any advice..??
i don't have my htc p3600 now ....and i'm a litle screwed...

Active sync, doesnt store info, it will only sync against outlook. Now, outlook have two ways of storing contacts. Either u store ure contacts on your local contacts lists (which will be on your computer), OR on one of your mail providers contacts list. The thing is (im not sure about this), u have to manually set the sync option to store the contacts to a specific mail contact list.
So, either u synced the contacts to your local outlook contacts folder. In that case, ur kinda screewed if u dont have outlook anymore (uninstalled without keepin the contact files etc etc) BUT, if im not wrong, i think the file is called outlook.pst. So if u can locate that file on your computer, reinstall outlook, point to that file, i think u will regain the contacts. As long as u find that .pst file, there are several tools for regaining access if outlook fails.
-Or, u synced with your mail contacts folder. In that case, check the mail provider contacts lists. It will be there, and the export process is quite easy.

The problem is that when I synced my contacts with active sync I didn't have Outlook installed in my computer..so I don't know where the active sync saved them...or what kind of file should I search for...

I was planning to reset my hero, but before I do that I wanted to know whether syncing the contacts with google contacts after the reset, would wipe out all my contacts from the google server or would it consider it to be a "fresh sync" and add all the contacts from the server to my phone. no, it will sync them.
So whatevers on the server will be copied to the phone. You wont lose whats on the server, dont worry.
EDIT: first problem solved, so need to figure out if deleting the first email address from the phone will automatically give me the option to sync calender with the other gmail address
EDIT 2: tried deleting old gmail address so that I would only have the new one on the phone. it wont let me delete the old gmail address without doing a factory reset. I dont want to do a factory reset, so anyone know how to either delete the old gmail address, or be able to sync the calendar from new gmail address as described below?
Need help with 2 things:
First:
So I have 2 gmail accounts. One ive had ever since i got first android phone a year ago. 90% of my contacts are synced with this email address and phone, problem is that I dont really use this email address anymore. the other I created a couple of months ago and primarly use, but only a few contacts are synced with this email address.
So, how do I transfer all my contacts to the 2nd gmail address so I can get rid of the first? I have tried in gmail, but I must be doing something wrong...
Second:
This is kind of related to the first. I want to use my google calander for the second gmail address I have. but when i go into accounts and sync, it only gives me the choice to sync the calander from the first/old gmail address. There is not option to sync calander with the newer gmail address I really use. So either how do I sync the second gmail address, or per first question above, how do i transfer contacts from old to new gmail so i can delete the old account off of my phone, as im assuming if the newer gmail address is the only one on my phone it will give me the option to sync calendar????

and then Import the CVS file you created on the second gmail

I have multiple gmail accounts that I use on my Atrix. Only one of the accounts, however, is my "primary" account where I have all my contacts set up properly, the others I really just use for email. For some reason, one of my additional gmail accounts had contacts sync activated and I want to remove JUST the contacts from that sync account. Would removing the sync account delete all the contacts (and other PIM data associated with that sync account) from my phone? I can always re-add the gmail account and make sure that only the email syncs.

Try tapping the the accounts icon in the main app screen....it'll list all your accounts....then tap on the account you want to modify...then uncheck everything you don't want it to sync.
I did that already as soon as I discovered those contacts, but they're still there...which is why i'm wondering if removing the account altogether will remove it's PIM data...
I think you have to manually delete them. I wanted to do this but having two accounts just kind of borks it and you have to live with it. It really isn't that big a deal. I mean you do have a backup account in case somebody hacks it or the server is down for one email account.

There is an app in the market called "Contact Remover Plus" that will do just what you need. It's not free, but it works great. I had the same issue. It will allow you to remove contacts from only one account and also allows you to transfer them from one account to another.
Could anybody say what is happening with the GMail account. I have my contacts in Outlook and synced them with my phone, then added the gmail account. After deleting gmail account from accounts in settings all my contacts are gone. What the ...???
A also noticed that when I have an existing gmail account I cannot set individual ringtone to a contact. When it's gone everything works. Anyway I don't want this gmail to sync everything, especially my contacts. Does anybody know why the hell on earth this crap is going on? Why can't I just use my contacts without gmail sync and other strange effects.

Yes happened with me too.
Totally idiotic.
And the worst part?
When I synced back the Google account... The contacts didn't come back properly.
All messed up and duplicates.
Idiotic.
Luckily I had taken a backup few days back and deleted all contacts and restored the backup.
I have totally disabled my contacts sync up with Google.

The only way that helped me is to sync my contacts with my outlook without creating gmail account, then set up all personal contact ringtones and only after that create gmail account in the phone without sync options.
