Hi all
I'm trying to set up a VPN connection between a Linux Mint 10 PC (server) and a Nexus 7 (client).
All I'm getting so far is a "Connecting" status from the Nexus 7, followed after a few seconds by a "Disconnected" one.
As it is my first attempt at setting up a VPN (both on the server and client sides) I was wondering if there was a log file generated by Android on the Nexus that would give me a clue as to where I'm going wrong.
A similar file on the server side would also be very helpful.
Thanks in advance.
Read this for a start how to set up server properly:

Thanks, asmerito, but I have set up a VPN connection, not an OpenVPN one.
What does syslog on server say when trying to connect with Nexus?

Sorry, @asmerito, but the question here was really whether it's possible to read a relevant log file on the android device (client), not on the server side. In most cases, the VPN client users don't have any access to the server. In my case, I am depending on several VPN lines for work. I can connect well from Win and Linux computers, but struggle with PPTP and MS-CHAPv2 from Android. (No need to kick in an open door by telling me even Microsoft informs this is completely insecure.....again the service/setup is beyond my control....)
Thanks a lot!

Hey guys- Looking for the Lync 2010 APK file. My device is listed as unsupported on Market. Can someone please attach the .apk file? thanks!
Lync Mobile 2010
Here you go! Just install it and you should be ready to go!
error message
When trying to install it just says "There is a problem parsing the package" ? any thoughts?
Never heard of that error before I'm sure someone on here has though. I'm thinking the phone won't let it be installed because it knows the app is not compatible with it. Just a thought..

Hi Guys,
Many thanks for the apk, it wasn't available in my country either. I'm getting a server connection error, though, with this file. Is any one of you facing this problem?
Here's the error: "Can't connect to the server. It might be unavailable. Also please check your network connection, sign-in address and server addresses."
My Lync corporate account connects over the Internet using SIP, I have connectivity as I can download emails from my corporate mail server (http). And I've double-checked the passsword.
Apparently WP7 users are having the same problem as well. Any ideas?
I'm not aware of the error message I've never heard of it before. I'm sure that someone on here that uses this program overseas has had the same problem and can help you out!

For new Lync clients to be able to connect, Lync server has to be updated to Cumulative Update 4, Lync Mobility component installed on the server, SSL certificates updated, DNS changes and reverse proxy configuration changes required too.
In other words, your Lync admins need to be motivated a whole lot to do all that.
Gonna try Now
Alright sounds good hopefully it works well for you!

Thanks in advance.
Will that work with Android 2.2?
I believe so, but I'm not a 100% sure.

Me too
I need the latest version of lync too.
Me too! I can't update my client to connect to the updated Lync server. LAME.
Has anyone been able to bypass the security requirement yet?

Why would you need to do that? Besides, all the settings are on the server side, so no app could bypass that.
Are you looking for an exchange app that will automatically log you in? I use Enhanced Email app and it automatically logs in, and delivers push email, and I can reply without any password.

On my old Skyrocket someone had set up a patch that would make your device look like it had a password to the exchange server but in fact you were able to disable the password on the device without any warnings.
If that's true then:
1. I want a copy of that patch to look at.
And
2. That's a mighty big security hole if true.

I'm glad someone else has this issue, i've had it for 3 days now - I've contacted support an am awaiting a response.
I ran into this problem as well but i solved it. When it takes you to the playstation entertainment site login and go to the [email protected] tab it will ask for your information so you can become a part of the psn and then you will gain full access. I suggest doing it from a laptop or computer because doing it on mobile is a lot more confusing.
go to sonyentertainmentnetwork.com and login.

Ah, that worked for me, thanks!
After you've setup your account for the PSN, you then have to change your account password again.

I have a problem when using vpn (JunosPlus from Juniper networking) I can't seem to get to host names directly. I can access them by using the IP Address, but not with host names.
In Linux I normally edit the /etc/resolve.conf file, but on Jedi_r1 I don't seem to have the file.
Anyone know how android looks up host names? And preferably how to add a new search domain suffix to it.

Bump, anyone have any ideas?
I've tried a couple things, but no dice.

So it appears that resolv.conf isn't used, but that dns is handled with with the getprop / setprop of net.dns.xxxx. And in this case net.dns.search. Except that even when I change the property to include my domain I can't do direct host resolution. Works fine with host.domain.edu calls though on my vpn connection.
Anyone have more familiarity with setprop and getprop of the network stuff?

Is there a dhcp server on the other side giving you an ip address on the internal network? Is it handing out internal dns addresses and the correct dns suffix?

There is a VPN DHCP server. But add in just an employee and not an IT guy I don't know about anything else it does.
On my Bionic though I could use SetDNS and add my domain suffix through it for searches and all was fine. Can't seem to now on my N2

Hello all.
I have recently moved from a Samsung Galaxy Note II to the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and now having issues with ActiveSync on my email. The account can connect fine, and lists the messages fine but when I open a message up, the BODY is blank. Sender, subject and all other data is fine. Just a blank body.
A bit of googling shows that this issue is floating around the Net for other folks with other mail servers (including Zimbra) and the problem is related to the "HTML body size", with some servers being able to set this and some clients misbehaving. AFAIK, there is no such setting in Kerio Connect which is the mail server I am running, and there is supposed to be a workaround built in to the current version for the seemingly misbehaving Sony Xperia Z altho no mention of the Z Ultra.
See here for some info:
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-S-SL-acro-S/Can-t-read-Exchange-mail-body-after-6-0-a-3-73-update/td-p/155919/page/3
Well I cant seem to get any joy out of this at all. The "unsupported client" flag on Kerio has been turned both on and off to no avail. Right now I am having to ActiveSync my contacts and calendar and IMAP the mail, but that is horrible and folder management is inadequate that way (items sent from the phone are put into the phones 'sent' folder which is not the same as servers "sent items' folder so they never show in Outlook 2010 on my PC. IMAP just totally ruining everything. HAVE to activesync fully.
Anybody else got this with their mail server (which one?) and anyone know what to do about it? If dont get any ideas, then my plan would be to unlock the bootloader, install CWM and then flash in the AOSP email client to replace Sony one. Have downloaded quite a few clients from the PlayStore. Problems vary from being ugly enough to stop a clock, to not supporting ActiveSync at all or only over WebDAV. All useless in one way or another.
Anyone have any ideas?!
Thanks,
Asif
Kerio Connect: 8.1.3 build 1711 (running on Windows Server 2008 R2)
Client: Sony Xperia Z Ultra running Android 4.2.2, ROM 14.1.B.1.532
PS I have left a similar message on the kerio forum with no reponse.
I'd try an alternative client, recommend maildroid free to see if it works, never had any problems.

MailDroid doesnt support full proper ActiveSync but only offers WebDAV which is not the same thing.
Also on activesync email not shown as html

No worries pal. Thanks for trying.
newstar - what is your email server? MS Exchange, Kerio or something else?
Think i will end up unlocking bootloader to install CWM and then using AOSP email client (which is shame as Sony one rather nice; certainly nicer looking than Samsung one was although that did ActiveSync perfectly!)
try touchdown, i use it and its pretty decent

Thanks. I ended up unlocking the bootloader, flashing in CWM and then using it to install generic Android email.apk whcih performs ActiveSync perfectly. Much better than paying for an app to bypass Sony's poor implementation of the ActiveSync protocol.
Happy camper now!
