hi all
does we all expect to see a stable CM on the DNA ?
is there any reason why there wouldn't be ?
I asked Cyanogenmod this on Twitter: "any word on CM for DNA? In the works? "
reply from Cyanogenmod: "none internally."
No RIL

Currently the radio interface layer has not been hacked. Without this no AOSP based Roms (including cyanogen) will be usable. Everything right now is going to be sense based. Once somebody cracks the RIL it shouldn't be too tough to port a version of Cyanogen from something like the Nexus 4 due to the fact that it shares the same processor. Even if there is not official cyanogen support likely one of the developers will port a version and I would imagine/hope that it will be stable
On the Rezound forums we don't "officially" have CM but the RIL was cracked and the versions are pretty much daily driver stable.

Yeah it could be possible. I never actually got the opportunity to investigate what was xxhdpi and what was xhdpi. It could be setup like the Nexus 7, which is hdpi and tvdpi, but the tvdpi portions are very minor.

Yeah, it looks like there is definitely code support for it. However, the actual resources (the images) aren't there as of 4.2.1. I haven't checked master though. Good find. That is certainly promising. I figure by the time the ril gets sorted there will be a decent chance that xxhdpi resources could be added. Maybe 4.2.2?

I think it will happen with the advent of slcd3 and ah-ips screens at these crazy high resolutions its got to. Hopefully sooner rather then later but I heard that sammy is promising an oled competitor as well so hopefully it will be added in anticipation of this becoming the market standard, or its there already, "I haven't checked master though" fingers crossed for either!!

Beat me to it lol. Yea Kush is getting close it looks like. Once the data/sms are straightened out, I'll be all over it awaiting Linaro
from what I gathered watching that video, it seemed that we will not benefit from this....
Seemed the changes done were kernel level and geared to the specific SoC the Nexus runs...saying they were CPU optimizations, and that it mainly was cleaning the "bad code" allowed in -o2 optimization, and once cleaned they were able to run through o3 optimization...
correct me if im wrong in that thinking though...
still pretty cool!

I mean im sure some of it is real general Android related stuff in the kernel that could be ported over to other SoC's....But the guy was fairly clear it was CPU related and delt with cleaning up the code to be able to do -o3 optimization on it...

Unofficial, I believe, means that it isn't supported by the CM team.

It really shouldnt take them very long. google did a great job with jellybean. making it extremely compatible with all kinds of hardware. for ics we had to pull ~50 commits to frameworks from qcom to get display working. on jellybean...zero. it just works. no hacks required. google really outdid themselves this time. (also cudos to caf for releasing the display drivers same day!!) just took me 3 days to realize that yea they do work lol.
So in theory it shouldnt be too hard to get jellybean up and running on devices that have aosp 4.0. Correct?

Probably not officially supported, but I've seen CM7/9/10 on the Droid Inc (my first android phone) and CM9 plus currently working on CM10 on Rezound (my 2nd android phone).. AFAIK, thunderbolt has CM7 and CM9, and I can honestly see some Cyanogen in this phones future
Id like to see it but either way one has to wait for HTC to release the kernel to start original development right?

Yes there is a CM10 build available, however it does not (and probably never will) have working data. Smart phone without data equals dumb phone.
Fortunately there are a couple of talented themers who have put a lot of nice lipstick on the HTC/sense UI (EclipszeRemix) which is good but not the same thing as stock.

His device is somewhat old, so that's why he assumed that it may never have data on CM. Once a device has been out for some time, it loses support as devs move on to new devices. It's the circle of life.
There has been trouble getting CM to work on the last several verizon HTC phones. Even if they get a port working, there are usually broken features due to HTC's changes to android (camera, BT stack, etc).
I guess your best bet is that if you really have to have CM10 on your device, you don't buy the device until CM10 is working to your liking. That will save everyone alot of headache of listening to users complain about not having CM10 on a phone that no one promised it for.

Unfortunately the Thunderbolt only has CM7, which isn't officially supported. There is AOSP ICS but not by CM.
In regard to several posts within this thread, Th kerne source will be helpful but the true issue is the RIL(radio interface layer) that prevents aosp from being ported. If the RIL can be cracked we should have a fully functional CM10 build and it will likely be fully supported. I know for a fact that there are already devs working on this and S-off so hang tight guys things should get interesting. We have some awesome devs on this project already!

Is there a way to use Samsungs multi window app on an AOSP ROM?
yes.
but it would involve you creating the app.
probably couldnt call it multiwindow...call it dualview.
No, and won't happen unfortunately.

There is an app called cornerstone multitasking which works simular to multi Window. But it's a tablet app and is only available as a feature that would have to be baked into a rom. Idk if anyone has started using this mod or if it even works for jb. But it appears to have been designed only for 7 and 10 inch tablets. It would look crammed for four or note 2.

Cornerstone has pretty much been abandoned because of bugs. I really wish more would have been done with it so the bugs could've been worked out and I could get rid of touchwiz.
I'm sure other devs will come up with their own variants. And just a matter of time when Android will implement it. Maybe in Android 5 or 6.

Well that's a shame. I'm glad I didn't really use Multi-window enough to find a specific niche for it to matter, since I've moved on to AOSP. There was only a few things holding me back on TouchWiz, and that was one of them. But honestly, there's very few times where it actually is worth using.
It'd still be nice to be an option though. Wonder what the conflict is.

Hmm. daniel_hk is working on Android M for Galaxy Tab 7+ & 7.7, and the 7+ at least is stuck with kernel series 3.0 because that's all the binary-only blobs support.
Working on M for the rezound might be pointless. There's even less activity for this device now than for the 7+. And those binary blobs are really, really awful. I even don't want to buy a new Android device any longer. I wish that the Replicant project were more successful, but it seems to be dying for lack of interest: no wonder since going without the blobs requires sacrificing prominent features (eg GPS, bluetooth, even wifi) on every supported device...
Good things do come to an end at one point or another. I'll be 2 devices removed since Rezound soon.

Very high likely-hood it is fake. Poor grammar, mentions a different phone (Q610s), and has no pictures of a Rezound on the page. The tell tale sign is the file requires you to complete a offer before you can download. Searching more on the site reveals tons of pages for other phones with identical text, and you guessed it, the exact same download link for the files.
