[Q] Hard bricked my phone - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanted to update my S2 running cwm 4.0.0.4 and lightening rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274 (android 2.3)
So i firsted started to upgrade my cwm, so i found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693
So i followed the instructions and I flashed with
pit file: omap4_all_20110627_emmc.pit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29785983)
this file:
GT-I9100_ICS_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.5.0.4.tar
which produced this log:
<ID:0/003> Added!!

<ID:0/003> RES OK !!
<ID:0/003> Completed..
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)
<ID:0/003> Removed!!
After that it doesn't react on anything. 3 buttons, volume up and down + battery insert, etc.
It gets warm next to the camera.
I probably used the wrong pit file since it is for a I9100g and i think I maybe used to wrong image.
Do I have another option than motherboard replacement or jtag? What I've read a jig won't help me?

Yeah, should have been more awake when doing this, feeling stupid....

I heard that a usb jig might solve the problem.

Your phone is definitely super bricked. Im telling you by experience. Bcz i once super bricked my s2 trying to wipe in 4.04 stock recovery. Luckily samsung replaced my motherboard and revived my phone. I acted stupid infront of them saying i tried to factory reset the phone and it died. I suggest you do the same if have warranty left. And i dont think a jtag or any other method can revive your phone.

It's not superbrick since he didn't wipe data.

Stuck on flashing to stock with Odin

Hi, so i downloaded the version for my phone
GT-I9100_XEO_I9100XXKH3_I9100XXKH3_I9100OXAKH3.
I wiped factory/data reset, system something and dalvik cache.
I used odin to flash ticking only the PDA,
but it stuck for like 1 hour on this stage:<ID:0/012> factoryfs.img
Both the loading bar on the phone and on odin are on the same level.

Okay well there may be hope. Pull the battery and then use the button combo to see if you can get to download mode if you can then I suggest you restart your PC and make sure your using a UBS connection that is on the back of your PC, do not use any USB hubs or front usb connections. Also make sure kies in not running in the back round as it can interfere with the USB connections.
I made a backup with Cwk so i hope nothing will go wrong...
I pulled the battery, and i got to download mode, but odin doesnt seem
to recognize the phone...
Edit: i just noticed on processes, that kies Was running...
but Odin doesnt recognize the phone now...
Edit2: Odin managed to recognize the phone, so i started the process again...
but i got an error:

Well as long as you can get to download mode there is hope. Maybe try a different firmware package.
Are you using the Samsung USB cable or the HTC one?
Successful!!
I just tried it again and it worked!
Thanks alot everyone, especially the one who told me to check
if kies was running
Hi, I been stuck on cache.img for hours (i left it overnight) kies isnt running in the background and i tried many times, im trying to flash XWKI4.
I came across this post and im using a HTC cable to connect, is this a problem??
Edit: Kies really messed up my phone it kept failing on firmware upgrade, asked me to do firmware emergency but that wasnt working either, eventually the firmware upgrade worked BUT the phone doesn't recognise my SIM card so i want to reflash in ODIN

Tell me about it, kies is useless.
I tried another firmware but thats stuck on boot.bin right now, i have to travel 2hrs to get my samsung cable!! no idea what to do now..phone doesn't start (says do an emergency recovery). Thinking of going to service centre, i know I haven't void my warranty.
. Thinking of going to service centre, i know I haven't void my warranty.
ROOT = warranty void .Custom rom = void warranty
So if you have neither you are ok if not you need to flash stock rom to unroot and set rom counter to zero with USB jig .

SGS3 Softbricked

I tried using the Toolkit to root my SGS3, however, it didn't work.
Edit: Using Odin v3.07
I am trying to reflash it using Odin, but it doesn't seem to work. I tried unrooting and putting the original firmware back on, but I am getting this in Odin

At removed, the phone vibrates, and I believe it turns off/disconnects, so I don't think it gets the update. I am using the files that came with the toolkit, such as the boot-stock-i9300xxale8-gsm.tar in the PDA section.
I saw mskip suggest a Sprint flash, but I am not on sprint, so I don't know if this will work (It did work for the other guy, but as I said, I am not on sprint)
Does that Removed!! cause a big problem?

are you sure you phone is in download mode and not in recovery mode while flashing? I have seen0that many people make this simple mistake
If you are talking about Sprint:
what is your device hardware?
If it's not i9300 you're in the wrong forum
If it's not exactly the same as the one your toolkit is for, you just softbricked your phone

Had the same problem tried everything posted in here and could't recover it now waiting on warranty replacement, seems this is way more common than I thought.

Yes sorry - but pit error problem is related to faulty nand/emmc :crying:
re flashing dont make any difference at all
i sent my SGS3 to the Samsung Service Center. they tried to flash it but no luck so they asked me to leave the unit and replace the mainboard... waiting for it..
ive tried all pit, repartition, etc2.. i gave up
It seems I am not the only one....
Except take it to the health center (Samsung service center), does anyone have luck to fix it by Odin?! becuase I was using custom rom. I just think the Samsung might do the warranty recover with charges, which I don't really want to pay.. many thanks guys.

[Q] Firmware Update Failure and ODIN unable to flash

Evening All,
This is most definitely a cry for help from someone not new to Flashing Phones. I have been flash ROMS sicne the days of my HTC Desire. I have never encountered an issue up until recently.
My S3 was running perfectly fine on Android Revolution 16.5. I generally always charge my phone at work and at home so I always have it on. Last night my battery died as I left my charger at my girlfriends. After popping around and picking it back up I charged my phone. It booted up to give me a System UID's inconsistent error for no reason.
I did some searching around and attempted to rectify this matter with the various Factory Resets, Fix Permissions etc. and as far as I got was that I would get to the Samsung Logo and then it would hang.
After much dicking around with ARHD I decided to flash Stock Firmware from Sammfirmware.com. I did this using the Unbranded Firmware and going back to what my Galaxy S3 started with.
GT-I9300_BTU_I9300XXALF2_I9300OXAALF2_I9300XXLF2.tar.md5
This worked and I got safely back into my phone albeit with no signal/mobile network. I looked around and thought because my carrier is O2 I'll flash the O2 firmware. This didn't work so I went back to flashing the unbranded firmware again where I was on before I got this in ODIN:
<OSM> GT-I9300_BTU_I9300XXALF2_I9300OXAALF2_I9300XXLF2.tar.md5 is valid.

I now an issue because bootup is stating my firmware upgrade has failed, and now ODIN refuses to reflash the MD5 file again. I just keep getting the same failure message. I am able to reboot into Download Mode and that is it.
Is anyone able to offer me any kind of assistance please?

user flashed wrong file and damaged wiped pit . Or used wrong PIT or ticked repartition etc etc .
You need to flash the correct PIT file see multiple identical posts .

<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..

<ID:0/003> Firmware update start..

<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/003>
<ID:0/003> Complete(Write) operation failed.

I now an issue because bootup is stating my firmware upgrade has failed, and now ODIN refuses to reflash the MD5 file again. I just keep getting the same failure message. I am able to reboot into Download Mode and that is it.
Is anyone able to offer me any kind of assistance please?
Mobile Phone: Samsung Galaxy SIII i9300
Carrier: O2

James

Hello guys, this is my first post. I was subscribed to this website for some time. But I was always able to solve my issues just by searching the forums here without having to post my own thread. However, I have been looking for the "PIT" file for my Samsung Galaxy Light SGH-T399N with no luck. My phone was stuck on the MetroPCS logo screen. So, I have not been able to flash the phone via Odin because this file is missing. I can not even go into recovery mode. I was wondering if you guys could helped me. I appreciate your help in advance!
