[Q] Getting to fastboot / bootloader mode - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
after some complications with the partition mapping on my tablet i finaly extracted the boot.img created a custom boot.img. Now want to flash it back using adb, fastboot or flash_image. Afaik flash_image isnt supported, get some errors "error scanning partitions"....
So i tried to flash with adb / fastboot, but it is required to boot to bootloader mode.
I tried many key combinations on my tablet (power button, home, volume keys) and apps to boot it into bootloader mode but was not successfull yet ("adb shell reboot bootloader" and Quick Boot App from Play Store).
I´ve got an Allwiner A10 Tablet with T15A_V5 Mainboard and 1GB RAM (like the goclever a103 tablet). Also known as (same hardware):
- Manta MID06
- Point of View Protab XXL
- Goclever A103
- Storex eZee'Tab 10C
- Coby 1042
- Yarvik TAB464
Any idears how to get to bootloader mode or flash the img back?
Ty.

easier to get anwsers for apple devices than getting feedback here... wtf?!

You don't reflash these A10-based tablets from bootloader mode. AFAIK they don't even have a bootloader mode.
You reflash them from your PC using the Livesuit program, with the tablet connected over USB.
The tablet has to be put in a specific mode (FEL mode) in which the screen will remain dark and a different USB device will be detected by the PC (Livesuit comes with a driver for this).
To put the tablet in this mode :
- turn in off completely (not just standby mode) and disconnect the USB cable
- start the Livesuit program, and select the firmware image (.img file) you want to flash
- hold the Volume- button on the tablet and while holding it, connect the USB cable to the PC
- while still holding Volume-, make a succession of quick press and release on the power button (at least 5 or 6 in my experience)
You'll hear your PC detecting a new USB device.
- release the button
- make a force installation of the driver that came with Livesuit
A popup should appear asking if you want to do a forced format. Choose yes, then flashing should begin (progression bar)

livesuit wont install
i downloaded livesuit but when i try to install it blinks out and nothing happens can i get help please ? im so close to fixing my Eglide Pro III

Zenfone 5 A502CG Unable to enter fastboot/droidboot

Hi all,
I'm not very familiar with phone terms but the situation is like this:-
- suspected like bricked
- connect USB to computer and press Volume Up + Power = USB Logo with white load bar
- disconnect USB and turn on = Repeatedly show Asus logo
- disconnect and press Volume Up + Power = USB Logo with red bar with a splash off Asus logo and turn off (a blink an eye)
- real problem is unable to enter droidboot/fastboot
I have tried to search for the thread to solve this problem but not successful yet. Method that I have tried so far:-
- installing iSocUSB
- installing Intel driver
- installing xfstk (FW+OS failed)
- installing MFT (not know which file that be used as zip/xml)
- run adb tools command (error: device not found)
- Intel SOC appear on device manager and when connect the phone to USB, it will appear CloverView too.
- installing asus pc link
- installing PDANet
I have seen most thread and discussion mention a phrase like "press volume up + power and you will enter fastboot/droidboot" but how about IF I can't enter fastboot/droidboot; they not mention the step. What should I do to enter it? I also search for key "A502CG unable to enter droidboot/fastboot" but result from google shows as what I mention before; the phrase "press volume up + power and you will enter fastboot/droidboot" which not working on me.
If someone has same problem with me and solve this to recover the firmware to its origin, kindly share. I believe there is someone who are same as my situation here.
Hope for help/guide. Thanks

[Help] Bricked ASUS MeMo Pad 10 (ME103K) - only Fastboot, no Recovery

Dear everyone,
I have an ASUS MeMoPad 10 (ME103K) here which I vowed to fix. The user wanted to revert to Factory Defaults, lost power or something like this, and ended up with a bricked device.
I can only start it with power button + volume up, into Fastboot. Secure Boot is enabled.
I have Android SDK and minimal FastBoot installed. Have the Google USB Drivers on my desktop.
I tried flashing SuperBoot (ADB), but ADB simply lists "Waiting for Device". No devices can be listed. It does show up in Windows Device Manager: ASUS Android Bootloader Interface.
I have the following files available:
- SuperBoot r5
- Kernel: l-8064-r1_V12.16.1.12-201508071139-foss.tar
- UL-K01E-WW-12.16.1.12-user
- recovery-original-me103k
There is apparently no recovery.img for this device. The boot.img is in the UL-K01E-WW-12.16.1.12-user file
Power = ASUS logo then goes black
Power + Volume up = Fastboot
Power + Volume down = /
Power + Volume up+down = /
Is this the place I should be looking? I'm honestly not sure if I can catch up with the details: android.stackexchange.com/questions/124344/trying-to-flash-a-system-img-i-took-with-dd-failing
Any help would be much appreciated!

EDIT:
fastboot devices now detects #serialnumber
Alright, fastboot now detects my device. I installed PDANet which didn't do anything, and then downloaded another adbfastboot package which hit it.
I'm able to start writing boot.img, but that's what it stays at. It's an 8MB file, so it shouldn't take half an hour, I suppose?
I'm not getting any error message either, though.
EDIT: It seems that regardless of what commands I send, they stall and don't get executed. ADB doesn't seem to find any devices, only Fastboot does.
EDIT 2: Tried the same on my laptop. Different ports. Nothing goes further than for example "Writing 'boot' - that's it.

Recover Asus Me103k (k01e)
1) Stock recovery:
View attachment k01e_stock_recovery.zip
3) Run it without flash:
Code:
fastboot boot k01e_stock_recovery.img
3) In recovery select to install UL-K01E-WW-12.16.1.12-user.zip (early placed on microsd)
4) Also can check boot ability:
Extract boot.img from update firmware zip UL-K01E-WW-12.16.1.12-user
And run it from fastboot:
Code:
fastboot boot boot.img
If Android loaded normaly after it, but after reboot you see FASTBOOT MODE, than execute this commands:
Code:
fastboot oem reset-dev_info
fastboot reboot
Asus MeMo pad ME103K/K01E bootloader unlock

Hi,
after all these years I remembered my asus memo... Such a fine displsay but ... . I discovered an unofficial rom for another old device ( samsung gt 5830) and so I'd like to ask you whether you know any possibility to "upgrade" the MeMo or any other way to pitch / patch it. Your reply here let me think that you are very attached to asus memo, maybe you are still interested.

Same here, running the device on Lollipop is awfully slow, KitKat is somewhat better though but those are the only two official ROM's which can be found and installed.
Tried to unlock the bootloader to try different ROM's but bootloader is locked, despite all info here on XDA, nothing seems to work and the bootloader remains locked. Unlock APK's also give no result.
Running out of options here, any suggestions will be appreciated.

Huawei Mediapad S7 - OD deleted, PC doesn-t recognize tablet

I tried to install new ROM on my Huawei S7-301u, i used CWMR and delete everything i should and started installation of ROM. Suddenly, od 30-40% installation broke. Of course, everything is deleted, and when I press Power&Volume+ i get message "Enter into fastboot mode. You can press POWER key for more than 10 seconds to reboot device." My PC can not recognize tablet when I connect it with USB cable (only in tray i can eject Android).
Can I fix it and how? Can I start CWRM from SD card? Can I install ROM from my PC? Any solution?
Thanks for help.
You certainly can install from your PC! Do as it says and boot into fastboot, then download the firmware of your device. (I can't post links, but a quick search of "Huawei Mediapad S7 Firmware image" should get you what you need)
You'll also need adb and fastboot (another quick search will get you those too).
At that point you should have a device in Fastboot mode and a computer with fastboot installed.
You'll be able to use commands such as "fastboot flash system system.img" to reflash your phone back to normal, from which you can restart your Custom ROM installation.
Again, I can't post links, but googling "How to flash an android .img" may help you greatly.

Xiaomi Note 3 Bootloop after installing TWRP and bad flash

Hi all,
What I did:
- Install TWRP
- Installed a bad ROM through recovery mode
- #brick
Now:
- Stuck in mi logo bootloop
- I can't get to EDL
- I can get to fastboot, but I can't seem to run any commands on my PC
- I can't get to recovery mode
EDL Mode
- I can't seem to get to EDL mode where the red light flashes
- I have tried going to fastboot --> Removing power --> Power + and Power - and Power. Wait for Mi logo to flash twice, and it goes into "Power off mode"
- When I connect to USB again, it connects to the PC and charges
- In device manager, I can see Xiaomi Composite MDB Interface
- No connectivity over adb command
Fastboot Mode
- I can get into Fastboot
- Connect Fastboot into the PC, I am unable to run any adb or fastboot commands.
- Fastboot devices shows nothing, adb devices shows nothing
- In device manager, I can see Android Bootloader Interface
I've tried many soft options and have read through probably 30+ guides. I have not tried the test point method because I do not want to void my warranty.
Anyone experience this and can help?
Thanks!
Try re-installing the driver and see if those adb/fastboot commands work.
U said u installed TWRP right . Then u can go to recovery by pressing volume up+power button and then install another custom rom or stock rom but if u have unofficial unlocked bootloader then flashing stock rom will relock ur bootloader and device will not bootup. So go for another custom rom like resurrection remix its super stable n smooth too.
Follow these two tutorials.

To enter EDL mode, you need to unplug the battery, wait 10 seconds, replug it. Then, remove the USB plug, replace it, then while holding both volume + and -, plug the phone in the computer using the original cable.
Make sure to check what you're getting in device manager. If you get USB_BULK, you need to download the drivers. If you're getting diagnostics, you did the earlier procedure wrong so try it again. If you're getting 9008, you've gained access to EDL.

Redmi 3 Bootloop (Bootloader locked) after installing Xposed Framework

Hi guys,
I have a bootloop problem after installing Xposed Framework on Redmi 3 (as far as I remember Android 6.0). I didn't went on checking if xposed is really compatible with this rom + didn't check if there is a custom recovery installed (i know...).
The steps I took is rooted the phone quickly with KingRoot, installed xposed apk and within the app I installed framework as root. Everything looked ok, no errors and restart after the installation process. Here it wouldn't turn back on.
So now the problem is getting this thing back to working condition. First I have thought of "disabling" Xposed. I tried this using adb, but I cannot access the /data folder (system:system) - I get permission denied even when I am logged as root. I though when I will be able to deploy the "disable" file in xposed directory, it should run normal.
Flashing the phone is a problem as well since the bootloader is locked. I can access the fastboot (vol down + power) and adb.
When I try to enter download mode (vol up + power), i get black screen with a phone and usb cable connected to it.
On my PC, when its in download mode it gets detected as marshall london hs-usb diagnostics in device manager - but MiFlash, adb, fastboot, etc. doesn't display the phone. I applied for bootloader unlock on the xiaomi page, but people say its up to 10 days to get this + it is not 100% that by this I will get the phone working again.
Any solution to my problem or some tip?
Thanks in advance,
dumle11
Hi !
1) Try reflashing from EDL Mode.
2) if not working, try this tip :
- Install fastboot minimal driver
- Reboot in fastboot (vol -)
- Then, plug the USB cable while pressing vol - and + in the same time
- Then type : fastboot reboot (with fastboot minimal driver) while keep pressing vol - and +
- The phone should reboot in EDL mode (even if it's black)
3) Else, try with fastboot minimal this tip :

Hi, thanks for a quick answer! I will check this once I get home and update the post. I forgot to mention that I previously tried to get into the edl (fastboot-edl) and it would give me a message saying "restarting into bootloader (OK)", then it would restart the phone into the mi loading screen (bootloop)
